He did go up in the attic to inspect the decking, but did not go up onto the roof to check out the extent of the rotted section. My fascia and soffit is rotted. He gave me a huge range of what it may cost me. He said he will not know what the cost will be until he is actually working on the roof??? That didn't make any sense to me. The huge range of what it may cost me is frightening and not comfortable.

We had two other bids. Neither company wanted to do repairs on a roof they did not install. We received the referral to American Roofing and Metal Company from a friend who is a well known architect. He cautioned us that they may be more expensive, but the quality of the work was far more important to us than a few hundred dollars (which is what it turned out to be). We called and spoke to David. He came out as scheduled, even a little earlier. He promptly diagnosed the problem, and then showed us the issues and explained how the repairs would be done. They came out and did the work as scheduled, and left everything very neat and clean. We left the following day, and were gone for one month. Upon our return, we immediately went to check whether or not the vent had leaked. True to his word, the repair was done right and held. This week we experienced a very heavy rain storm and no leaks. I will use American Roofing again, but doubt if I will need to for repairs. I will hire them to put in the new roof, and I will shout from the metal rooftop how wonderful they are. All my neighbors - we are in a townhouse complex - have similar roofs and problems. They will hear about American from me, and if they are wise, will spend the extra money to have it done right!
