The old fence removal and new fence job went quickly and smoothly, overall. However, Roland gave me sense that he knew there would be warping in the post, since he pointed out to me how green it was, and then proceeded to jam a piece of rebar against the post, to prop it up. Initially, our gate would not close properly two days after the job was done, and it took a good week and a half for Travis to come out and fix that problem. He put a turnbuckle on the gate which is anchored into the brick of the house. To my knowledge, I have never seen that done before, but it did help keep the gate from sagging. I would never have guessed that we would be struggling to rectify our fence problems four months after the job was done. I realize now that we basically settled for low bid and did not do our homework the way we should have.
Description of Work: It took four or five calls to a messaging machine to receive a call back, which should have been the big RED FLAG to end all contact with this company. When they did finally call, we arranged a date and time for Travis, the manager, to come out and give an estimate. At the last minute, Travis announced he was going on vacation and that someone else would handle overseeing the job. Travis assured me that only two stringers would be necessary for the fence, however, after two months, the boards were already warping, as well as one of the posts, causing much of the fence to lean into my neighbor's property. A conversation with Travis seemed genuine and hopeful when he told me he would contact his fence guy, Roland, to take care of the post problem. He also let me know that it may take a few days to contact him. He also informed me that warping of materials is not his problem, and that I would have to pay for any labor and materials, in spite of a leaning fence and his promise that the fence would look great with only two stringers. I waited to hear from Travis or Roland for a month after that, and they did not return the next five calls from me, until I caught Travis in his office one day. Travis stated to me during that final phone call, that he did not know why Roland never contacted me, and acted almost as if he had no knowledge of any fence problem. Travis then told me he would come out personally that day to see the problem himself, and foolishly, I believed him and waited for him. He never showed to my knowledge, nor left me any messages. I feel the laziness, lack of communication, and professional response is appalling for a business like this, especially when you expect them to respond promptly and stand behind their work. The fence speaks for itself, as I have neighbors commenting that our fence is like the leaning tower of Pisa. I have decided that if I have to pay for something again, I will use another fence company to correct American Fence & Deck's workmanship problems, as I have run out of time, patience, and understanding regarding this company's way of doing business. What is even worse, I have used American Fence & Deck of San Antonio, Tx before, with no problems, until now.
