Alamow Lawns & Tree Service

It was good. They did a good job and were easy to get in touch with.

I originally purchased this Groupon for work to be done in my yard. Before I could schedule appointment, my family came and helped me clean everything up. So, I didn't need to use the Groupon. The Alamow person was very nice and understanding about it.

They did an excellent job and as they were there, my neighbor hired them to do their yard.

We have been very dissatisfied with Alamow Trees & Lawns lack of responsiveness for both the estimate and the work itself. After getting an estimate from them, it took several phone calls and/or emails before we got the service scheduled. They cancelled the first scheduled date for service due to inclement weather (which is fully understandable), but they were a no-show on Friday 11 April for our rescheduled service - without even a phone call or other contact made.

Purchased a Big deal. Overall the experience was a good one. However punctuality was a big issue. They had committed to be at my residence between noon and 1PM and at 2PM I gave them a call to find out if they were still coming to do the work. They indicated that they were running behind and that they would call or text when they were on their way. I received neither and they dd not arrive until 5:30. They did a great job with cleaning out the flower beds and mulching and they looked great afterwards.

The workers were a little late but this did not have a reflection on the work. Two men arrived, I provided a level of priority for the yard services which was primarily the flowerbed and front yard area to be cleared and maintained. They immediately begin the job and completed the priority work in which I requested. They successfully cleaned out our flowerbed by removing dead bushes, treating the weeds, removing the grass and re-mulching. They also cut and treated our front yard for weeds, shaped small bushes and cut our "jungle" of a back yard! We are throughly pleased with the services we received and intend on using this company for additional work we would like to have done. THANK YOU!

They were unable to set up an appointment that they could keep or that we could coordinate together. When we did have appointments they didn't show. They said they couldn't do anything in December and at this point I just would like to cancel the services.

The provider did a good job in spreading the mulch and weed-eating my backyard. He recommended that I have some tree limbs trimmed that were hitting up against my house. I decided to go ahead and have him do this work as well. He hauled off all of the limbs that were cut. My only issue with this provider is that I had to schedule 3 appointments before the work was finally done. The first day he was supposed to come, it was misty, so he called that morning and said that he didn't want to come that day, as the work wouldn't be done to the best of their abilities due to the weather. The second day that I had scheduled, he just didn't show up at all. I contacted him that afternoon, after he missed the scheduled time, but got no response. In a couple of days, I was contacted about making another appointment. I never received a very good reason why he didn't show up for the second appointment. Finally, he did show up for the third appointment. I was happy with the work performed, but it was a hassle getting him to come to do the work.

They left a mess behind, branches everywhere. They cut shrubs down that were deciduous and still winter bare, thinking they were dead... (clearly did not know what was what, one would expect a landscaping company to know they plants). What I ask to cut short they left tall. What I asked to trim in circumference they cut really short instead. I will never hire them again.

Sorry. to say... even belatedly....but just so-so and quite mediocre. It's Springtime and I'm going to hire another crew to help me get things in shape. I really don't like giving negative reviews... but that's part of why Angie's List is here. I am reticent to do so, because the Gutter people I hired turned out to be horrible and when I reported their misconduct in a factual account... they ripped me personally in their response. I wound up just deleting everything from the record. This should not be... but I will say to Angie's List's credit, that the List was responsive to my concerns. I am more careful now and SERVICE reports trump "deals". Excuse me, I digress... but this is why I decided to go forward with a report. Here's why I won't use Alamo Lawn again... regardless of any "deal". Last Fall, the guys from Alamo Lawn did a average to poor job. The reason I won't use them again is because they packed up and started to leave 35 minutes early. That equates to 1+ man hours of the 8hrs. I purchased... and there was obviously much still to be done. When I called them out on it, they said OK... oops!... and went back to work after going back to their already loaded to leave vehicle. At least another 10+ minutes in addition... equating to 20+ minutes of the 8 hours was also wasted with packing and repacking their tools. I was gone most of the time they were present due to my business...and it's no wonder to me that even though my front and back yard looked much improved, it was far from what I had hoped for and reasonably expected. The guys were courteous and seemed to be responsive... but that day they also represented the kind of workers one has to keep an eye on and closely supervise to make sure they stay on task. An "Overall rating of C from me in this case is somewhat generous. If there was a category of C- it would be more accurate. Sorry Alamo Lawn... but I just can't excuse the work of that day that was not done., I should have called the owner/operator... last year, but I was taking care of a grieving close family member and just decided to move on and not make a fuss. I sincerely wish everyone well... both Alamo Lawn and the crew from that day... but I won't be requiring their services again.

They were prompt (early even), professional, and did more than I was expecting. Even had them give me estimates on tree work and more landscaping. I would definitely use them again.

The provider never called me back to provide service. I request a refund.

We had 2 cancellations due to the weather. They finally came on March 14th after I contacted Angie's list for help. They arrived 3 hours late due to a mix-up at their office. The owner and one helper provided great service and apologized for being late. They were courteous, friendly, efficient and did a great job.

I had to point out a couple of places they missed but no big deal. They were okay.

There is some confusion about the date of schedule. However the job was done very well and I would use them again.

Completed the pre-arranged "to do" list as agreed.

They did an excellent job. They not only did the tree trimming that was in the deal, but they also cleaned up my entire yard.

Everything turned out well. The crew finished ahead of the three-hour mark, so they took it upon themselves to do some additional work that I hadn't mentioned. Furthermore, they were professional and friendly at all times, and they cleaned up after themselves which I appreciated. Ultimately, I would use them again.

The patio was done and looked good. Leaves from that area removed but nothing else. In my past experience, it would not have taken the full time to do the patio. The gentleman called me at work (house guest was at my house during the work) to see if I wanted him to haul away the weeds for an additional $40. I said no, since they would be picked up at our curb. He said he already had put them in his truck and was ready to leave. Rather than argue, I paid the extra $40. I consider this dishonest and manipulative and I would never again hire a company that does that.

I have a lot of large oak trees. Andy (the owner) personally climbed the trees and cut off the limbs that I needed to be removed. His helper applied a spray sealant to the pruned cuts. The deal was $399 worth of tree trimming for $199. He wanted to do more work, but I limited him to the special price amount.

I paid more than the Big Deal and I ended up paying about $1000. I could have grabbed my own regular lawn care people and they probably would have charged me about $350. But they don’t really have the good things that Alamow Lawns & Tree Service did. They were able to get up the trees more effectively. There wasn’t much to be done. But it did take them the better part of the day.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. I paid an additional $120 for them to trim the trees. It was fine. They brought 3 guys out and they were able to get a lot done within the hour. I would probably use them again.

I made an appointment and stayed home from work, but they missed the appointment. I haven't been able to stay home since, but we still need the work done. They haven't tried to contact me either to reschedule.

He and his crew came and did the job they had said they would do (trimmed my trees and sealed the cut places) and were very thorough with their clean-up. He did miss one tree in the front yard that we had talked about but said he would come back and do it for $70 because it requires a tall ladder. I am still waiting for him to do that but am emailing him. He was very nice but I know nothing about tree trimming so have to take him at his word. The trees are not rubbing on my house or leaning toward my neighbors, so for that, I am relieved. If, like this, it is something I know nothing about, I try to follow the recommendations people give through Angie's List. It is my Go-To Book.

Andy and partner worked hard the entire hour and a half that they were here. They did a lot more than I expected them to. Be advised that there is a $40 haul away fee. It's written in the "fine print" which I failed to read. Other than this fee this was a great value and I am very pleased with the results.
