I contacted Alamo Water Softeners to get an estimate on the installation of a water softener. Allen Townsend answered the call right away and scheduled an appointment with me within the next couple of days. Allen was personable, professional, and never used any high pressure sales tactics. He gave me a brief, but thorough, explanation of the company and the type of systems they offered and was very patient in answering all of my questions. He asked me about my expectations and water usage and based on that, recommended a system (not the top of the line) that would fit all of my needs. His honesty and the fact that he wasn’t trying to sell me the most expensive system said a lot about the integrity of the company. I was also very impressed with Abel, the installer. He was very thorough and precise about his work, wanting to ensure that I was completely satisfied with everything before he left He even added a new outdoor faucet and installed a water drainage pipe to my washer faucet—two things that weren’t anticipated at the start of the job—at no extra cost. All of his work was done very professionally. Tom came by about a week after I had the system installed to check the water, explain the display panel, and answer any additional questions I had. This was much appreciated because I had come up with some more questions that I didn’t think to ask during the install. Finally, Trudy followed up with a call to make sure I was satisfied with everything and to find out if I had any more questions. Overall, I was very satisfied with the service I got from Alamo Water Softeners, and I am very happy with the way the system is working. I was also pleased to learn that Alamo Water Softeners is a Christian company that uses locally built systems. I would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

The acquisition and installation of a water softener from this firm was an excellent experience from stat to finish and the project cost nearly $500 dollars less than that proposed by the "one man operation" we had initially dealt with.

I was getting tired of all the water softener companies coming to the house and offering their products and constantly calling back. These companies were all saying how much better their systems were than others. The prices were also generally more expensive than what I eventually paid. I looked on Angie's List and found Alamo Water Softeners and liked what I read. First, the company came out an provided a clear explanation of what was needed and an estimate for the total cost of services. There were no high pressure sales tactics used. They were very professional. On installation day, they arrived at on-time and finished on schedule. Once again everyone was very professional and explained how the equipment worked and the do's and don'ts. What was a huge plus was the all the equipment they installed was made of standard parts that anyone can service. They were very careful in plumbing the system as to not damage the lawn sprinkler system. They made sure everything worked before leaving, including the sprinkler system for the lawn. They were honest in what needed to be done in terms of the reverse osmosis water system and the water softener. While they could come out and service the RO system, they also said the filters were fairly easy to chage and install and could be purchased at different stores locally. We didn't need to buy special filters. We went with the gold system to get the longer warranty. Once again, they didn't push the more expensive system. They asked us how long we planned to be in our house as gave us a recommendation. After about 10 days, they came out and did a follow up visit, tested the water, and went over the operation of the systems again. The person was very professional and very nice. He answered all of our questions and asked how they could improve their service. I am very happy with the product and service I have received. It was nice to not be pressured into buying something the cost a few thousand dollars. I would definite recommend them to freinds and family.

I would recommend Alamo Water Softeners to anyone who needs a water softerner installed. My house was not plumbed for a water softener. I received detailed information from Allen to make a decision on the product, installation process and price. The installer arrived promptly for the installation on a Saturday. The sod was dug in a way to protect the grass and all pipes were installed and the sod replaced. After a couple of weeks my front lawn is back to normal (even in this drought). I was extremely pleased with the entire installation of the water softener and the reverse osmosis system. Several weeks after the installation David showed up and tested the water and verified all was working properly. Overall, Alamo Water Softerners did an outstanding job and the level of customer service was exceptional. These days it is rare to receive that kind of service. Kudos to AWS!

We live in a house that was build in 1979 and has never had a water softener. After living in the house a year, we were tired of the white calcium build-up everywhere and decided it was time for a water softener. We called Alamo Water Softeners after looking at reviews on Angie's List. We met with Allen a few days later. He came by for a 6 p.m. appointment. I was running late, but my husband met him at the house. He waited for me to arrive ten minutes later to begin telling us about the system (during this time Allen and my husband talked about sports). Allen was very knowledgeable and told us the pros and cons of all of the softeners he sells. He recommended the least expensive softener for our needs. He wasn't pushy, but gave us facts and answered the questions we had. We really appreciate the fact that this is a local, family business which uses local parts. A few weeks later, I called to have them come out and install the softener. We made an appointment for the next day. Abel called to confirm the appointment during the 1-3 p.m. window and arrived on time. He was very friendly and informed about the product. It did take a little longer than I expected because the work order didn't have the soft water spigot we were promised on it. It wasn't a problem, though. Abel said he would turn off the water again and attach the spigot. This took an additional 30-45 minutes. Overall, I was very pleased with all aspects of this company. I would highly recommend Alamo Water Softeners.

I called Alamo Water Softeners (AWS) to get an estimate for a complete water softener install. I had called other contractors over the years, and they all wanted to bust up my driveway to install the lines necessary to get the water from the main to the house, hence my hesitation to get the work done. I decided to try AWS based solely on their Angie's List reputation, even though relying exclusively on an online reference was something I had never done before...all while still expecting to hear the same "bust up the driveway" thing. Turns out that my decision to go with AWS was an excellent choice. When I called for an estimate, they were extremely accommodating to my schedule and promptly showed up for an estimate. The proposal was clear, concise and unpretentious, with no high-pressure sales tactics to get you to buy something you don't need (which was a big plus for me given that I have a very low tolerance for "snow jobs"). Pricing was also clear and up-front, and was very, very reasonable given the amount of work required to get a system installed in my house. The technician answered all of my questions earnestly and knowledgeably, and I was completely satisfied with the proposal. Plus, they were able to get the piping underneath my driveway, so no destruction required! The crew showed up at the very start of their scheduled one-hour window, which was nice. AWS does use sub-contractors, but the crews have been working with AWS for some time and are licensed, bonded and supervised by a senior AWS technician (something else I asked about). They promptly began work inside and outside the house, and the technicians always asked for my opinion and/or approval for any matter they weren't sure about regarding the installation. They were all courteous, respectful and competent, and left the job site exactly the way they found it. They performed all work required (to include all digging and pipe fitting) in just four hours from start to finish which was impressive given the look of the final installation. In summary, AWS is an outstanding contractor that offers an excellent quality product with expert installation at a very reasonable price point. My only regret is not finding out about them sooner.

The product is comparable to higher priced systems and work very well. We noticed improvement in our water shortly after the system was installed. The installation went very smooth and the representative was very polite and thorough. A company representative returned to make sure everything was operating as it should and to make sure we were satisfied. I would recommend Alamo Water to anyone.

The work went fine. They did a good job. They were there. The install process went really smooth. I am really happy with them. I would recommend them and if I had to use them again I would. I thought their pricing was fair and their information on the web was very good about what you were buying. During the install process the guy was very knowledgeable and he explained to me how it worked and he did a good job.

It was fine, it was very good. I liked that they didn't try to sell me stuff that I didn't need. They were able to fix the water softener without having me buy a new unit. They were very good.

Allen came out and explained in detail how the two systems would work and gave us a firm bid for the job. He was very knowledgable and gave a good comparison of the other products on the market. Installation took place a week latter and took about 2 hours. The installer was very friendly and helpful in showing us how to operate and maintain the system. We had a followup visit a few weeks latter to make sure the system was working properly and to answer any questions we had.

The home consult went very well. All my questions were answered and I didn't feel the sales pressure pitch. On the website, I really appreciated the education it provided. There were no issues with the installation of the tanks or the reverse osmosis system. So far I am very happy with the company and workmanship. I received a follow up phone call to ensure I was satisfied with the installation. I recommend anyone considering a water softner to contact them for an initial consult.

I called several companies to get estimates. Alamo was the quickest to respond and actually come out to talk with me. The other companies just wanted to send me info & not go over the product in detail. Alamo wasn't necessarily the cheapest, but they had me feeling the most comfortable b/c of their professionalism. From start to finish, it has been a very good experience.

I used Angie's list to develop a listing of 2 or 3 companies to get quotes from. When I called AWS I was really impressed with the knowledge and the honesty about what is important and which equipment works best. I had done some research on their website first and actually ended up purchasing a lesser product than what I had planned based on input from them, which impressed me as rarely does someone want to sell you less. The installer arrived on time, walked me through what would be done, and went about his business. Afterwards he answered some questions I had and showed me how it worked. He too was very informed on the system and its functionality. A week after the install I received a call for a customer service visit and have that scheduled for next week. AWS did a great job for us and we would recommend them to anyone.

SIMPLY THE BEST...perhaps better than all the rest!! From the initial call to the finish of the installation, the experience of dealing with Alamo Water Softeners was absolutely OUTSTANDING. The price was very competitive, the installers were very courteous and professional, and the job was performed in a timely manner when and as promised. Furthermore, within five days after installation, I received a call from the owner asking if customer service could inspect our job. Today, both systems were chemically tested in our presence and our house water was soft, and our drinking water had very few pollutants. Additionally, the customer service representative also reviewed the operation of the two systems, shutoff valves and general operation of each system. There are many companies in the San Antonio area that install water softener systems. I can't imagine many, if any, meet the standards set by Alamo Water Softeners. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

They did a very good job. They gave a very good presentation and they explained the products. They explained their water softeners and how they worked. The price was decent for what they did and they did a good job. They showed us how to maintain it.

We are extremely happy with our water softener. The owner came and gave us an estimate and walked us through the product offerings. He made suggestions, but wasn't the least bit pushy or aggressive. We decided to purchase and he set up the install date that same week. The installers came and did a great job putting the unit in the garage exactly where I wanted it. The fit and finish were great. They had to dig a small trench in my yard to access the water main, and they were careful to put the grass back over top of their work.

The staff is accommodating, informative, helpful and friendly. Our schedules did not permit us to meet during normal working hours. We had to meet after 6 p.m. The representative was very accommodating and informative. He thoroughly explained the various Water Softener Systems to us and patiently answered all our questions. The representative informed us that the system is so versatile that parts can be purchased anywhere. The company also accommodated us on a payment schedule. A pre-addressed envelope arrived promptly with a friendly reminder that payment was due. A friendly staff member made all pertinent calls regarding the Water Softener with appropriate follow-thru to us. She kept us informed of permit and other pertinent information. We believe this company to be consumer oriented. We recommend this company.

Allen and his crew came highly recommended to me by co-workers, so I called him just to get an estimate. Allen was very professional when he arrived at my house for the estimate. The estimate was less then I thought it would be and after speaking with my husband we decided we would go ahead with it in August. I called Allen and set up the appointment for the install for the last part of Aug. He came to see us again the same week of the install to finalize all the plans. They installed our softner on the 27 Aug and I love it. Jerry and his crew was very puntual and professional when they installed our system. They even called that morning to let me know they were on their way. This company is excellent. I highly recommend them to anyone who would like a water softner. In fact, if they did other type of work I would call them first. Very happy and satisfied customer.

We had just purchased a new home paying extra to have it pre-plumbed for a water softener. We spoke to 2 other companies who were only going to allow a small discount for their set installation fee. Their fee was still over $5000.00. We began researching the internet for local companies and had narrowed it down to 3 we were going to call for estimates. When we called AWS to schedule an appointment, the owner Allen Townsend answered and said he was going to be in our area checking another job and could come that afternoon. When Allen arrived he was very professional and friendly. He was very patient with our questions regarding his company and product. We were interested in the Vortec system and the difference from other systems . Allen fully explained the differences without running down any other system. We liked the fact that his system is locally manufactured and parts (if necessary) were availabe through any water softener repair company. We were not locked into AWS for service as some systems are. We were very impressed with his honesty and caring attitude. We were never pressured to make an immediate decision. His installtion fee gave us credit for the plumbing that had been installed while our home was being built. The price we saw on his web page was what we paid. There were no hidden fees. The installers were on time, preformed quality work, were polite, friendly, and left everything clean when they finished the job. We were very pleased with everyone at AWS and our Vortec system. After moving in to our new home, we contacted several water softener companies and met with two of them for water analysis and system quotes. While both companies were professional, Alamo Water Systems and Allen Townsend stood out. Allen came to our home within two days of our initial contact, tested our water, and explained what was -- and wasn't -- needed. He provided options, explained the pros and cons of the various solutions and had extremely competitive prices. Allen posts all of his information on his website -- including pricing -- so we were able to research ahead of time. What we didn't know was the the price shown on the internet is the full price -- it includes taxes, installation, everything! We had planned to meet with one addtional company before making a decision, but Allen was so knowledgeable, professional, and price competitive, that we decided to go with his company. We met with Allen on a Tuesday evening and were able to schedule installation for Saturday morning. It could have been sooner, but we were both working the rest of the week. Saturday morning the installer showed up and within 2 hours we had a complete system installed -- water softener, exterior faucet, reverse osmosis including a custom faucet matched to our other kitchen finishes. Allen stopped by during the installation and stayed until it was complete. He personally reveiwed the system operation with us and offerred to come back in two weeks to check on things. When Allen returned, he checked the water, checked the salt level in the storage container and re-tested our water. He offerred to come back in 30 days at no charge, just to make sure everything was going well. We couldn't be more pleased with the system, the service, and the price competitiveness. Moving in to a new home can be so stressful and working with Allen and his team was such a pleasure, they made everything so easy. We're a customer for life and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing water softening services. We give Allen an A++ in all categories!
