There were problems with the seams where the pieces of granite came together, the seams starting cracking within a week, and we paid a lot of money. We found that when they installed it, they installed the island crooked and we had to call them back. When we called them back for not only the crooked island but there was like a divot in the granite because when they filed down the sides of the granite, they had gotten a little too happy with the grinder and so that made a divot in the granite. One of the granite pieces was two small so they just shoved a little piece of granite in there and it looked awful. So the quality was bad, the customer service skills were horrible because they were like, “Huh we have to come fix it?!” The owner was Robert, he had a son Bobbie, and everybody was very, very nice and kind of passive aggressive. Robert would come out to do the initial consultation but when there were issues, he never came out to fix it, it was only Bobbie the son and I don’t know how much experience he had but we had to have him come back twice to fix things. Then we called them the third time because when they showed that little small piece of granite in, the seams starting cracking and we just wanted it to look better and we spent $40000 on the whole project and we wanted it to look good and he ended up never showing up. We had to switch to another granite company because they weren’t honoring our quality. He was a subcontractor of a company that we used for renovations, so they charged us and they were going to pay Alamo City Granite, it was between $3000 and $400 but I don’t know what they ended up paying out of their pocket. We were waiting for the cabinets to be put in, there was a delay there so the granite was behind on schedule and when the cabinets were finally in, it was like pulling teeth trying to get them in to try to install the granite. Then I would say, please communicate if you are not going to be here, I mean we were like prisoners in our own home, we couldn’t go and do anything. If you are not going to be in, just tell us and he told me to use soft words, his words were, “Use soft words when dealing with this situation”. I couldn’t deal with him not communicating with his people because I was communicating with him all the time. I think what he meant was, “don’t get upset, use kind words and don’t yell at me”, I think that is what he really meant. The other thing was that, when the cabinet guy designed the island, he did it based of the fact that it was one solid piece of granite, well it wasn’t. They couldn’t find granite that big and they had to put a seam in it and I was fine but I asked them if it was supportive enough, it is a big piece and Robert got upset that I was doubting and questioning him. He was not a quality individual. As suspected, the cabinetwork started bowing because the granite was so heavy and the cabinet guys now have to go back and change the design so that it is much safer if someone were to lean on the granite like one does. We got what we wanted but the granite doesn’t look quite the same as the other pieces but that is something that I would have to get over. They weren’t able to completely fix the seams on the island. I would not recommend them.
