I replaces the carburetor on my mower with a factory replacement, but could not start the mower once installed. Dropped it off at Al's to Al himself and paid the deposit before I left. I had hardly gotten back to work when he called that it was ready to be picked up. The repair was $80. Al told me that all he had to do was reconnect the carburetor linkage, that I had replaced it incorrectly. I asked about the seemingly high cost and he emphatically said that that is what it was.

Originally took the mower to another Angie's List member and he referred us to Al's Small Engine Repair. Since I was almost there already I did not check for Angie's List reviews before I dropped the mower off. When I arrived at the shop I was greeted by Al himself. I explained my problem with the mover and he said no problem he could fix it. He was courteous and knowledgeable. He said check back in 7-10 days. I went home and checked Angie's list for reviews and was horrified by what I read. I actually considered going back to pick up the mower but in for a penny in for a pound. The mower was already there and I had trouble finding anyone to work on the mower to begin with. Four days later I received a call from Al who said my mower was ready for pickup. I went down the next day to pick up the mower. He started it and showed me it worked and he loaded it in my truck. The entire repair bill was $67 which I though was an excellent price. We used the mower on Sunday with no issues. Very happy and highly recommended. THANKS AL!

Used Angie's list to narrow search for a potential quality vendor for repair on an 8 yr old John Deer lawn mower. Unit needed general tune up, repair to a cable, and sharpening of the blade. The unit was functioning ok, just had to push it manually, and a little more sluggish than normal thru heavy grass. Called ahead to see if unit could be picked up and the man suggested to drop it off and we could get it much faster. My son did so, the mower sat there for almost 2 months and we had to continue to call to get update and hear one broken commitment after another every other week. Meanwhile, our lawn was getting out of control, and there was mention of a part on backorder. A cable???? After continuing to call and pester and the man continued to not give any more commitments on ETA, we decided to pick it up after almost 2 months! An older gentleman down our street fixed the machine in one afternoon and had no problems getting ANY parts locally. Amazing that people are still in business that don't know how to live up to a promiss, provide a service that is meaningful, and learn the basics of communication that could help along the way. I can't imagine this place being open in a year, at least not doing this type of lawnmower repair service. STAY AWAY!!!!
Description of Work: Not a thing to the machine!!! Just sat for almost 2 months with nothing done.

They apparently have no real aspirations or desire to even act like they care. Wanted a lot of my time and actually cost me money as I am paying someone to mow my lawn weekly because I cannot find a responsible party to fix a minor lawn mower issue. They didn't even have the courtesy to call and say they were behind in orders or they couldn't do minor repairs. Just plain rude and unprofessional .
Description of Work: I filled out their on,one form and promptly got a computer generated reply saying they would be in contact with me. Their forms are very detailed requiring lawn mower engine , size etc. two weeks later no reply or cal from them. I emailed them again one week later and still no reply . I now see why they get a D rating. Pathetic and wasted a great deal of my time. Shame o you !

Dropped off my pressure washer for a minor issue with gas that had set up too long in the float tank. Called 9 days later to see if it was ready for me to pick up. Al, the owner told me that it was not ready, but would be ready by noon but he would call me to confirm. I never received a call so a couple of days later on Saturday I check the website to see their hours of operation and it showed that they were open. I also called and the recording also listed them to be open. I went to pick up the unit and there was a sign on the door stating that they were in fact closed - so I made a trip for nothing. The minor issue mentioned above was this: I emptied the gas out of the tank on my new pressure washer at the end of the season. I neglected to run it until it used all of the gas out of the float tank just below the carburetor. Over the ensuing months the gas "set up" and became gunky. This year when i tried to start the engine, it would not turn over, so i added gas directly into the carburetor - and it would run until it used the gas that i had just added. I told the owner that i suspected the problem was something small that was not allowing the gas to get from the tank to the carburetor - in this case it was the bad gunky gas in the small float tank. I was charged 73.06 to have it cleaned out. When i pressed the owner about the issue, he was unable to delineate what exactly they had done in addition to cleaning out the float bowl that would necessitate such a large charge.
Description of Work: cleaned the carburetor float bowl
