Being a small company they aren't in to the credit programs sponsored by Ruud and other big manufacturers--they prefer to be paid once they're finished and you're satisfied. They, based on quotes from other Ruud dealers, tend to be more reasonable--if your a/c conks out Sat evening or Sunday afternoon they may have to charge extra to get the wholesaler to open up the warehouse. Big dealers may have their own inventory of units(but some might stick you with too much unit or whatever brand they have sitting around.) The owner Gordon is old school--tries to fix it rather than replace it. I had a 10.8 lennox, 26 years old. He tried to talk me out of getting a new a/c, the rudd. The lennox worked well, but in the future if I ever sell my house--who would buy a house with a 26 year old a/c. You might try this company with a seasonal checkup or minor, non emergency, service call and see if they're you cup of tea. Don't believe under $40 service offers--companies would go broke if that's all they made on each call
Description of Work: They installed ruud outdoor a/c compressor. Approx. 3 years before I had them install new Ruud inside gas furnace which was all I could afford(family medical bills) at that time. The a/c compressor was the available match to the furnace to complete my system.I knew I was getting a good brand and, because of the need to match the units I could only get the current code std. EER(SEER?) rating, not the super high 16EER's with the CPS rebate. Gordon, the owner, knows his stuff(formerly for many yrs head of a/c for Alamo Hts. School District). Very small co., very honest but not slick--no white uniforms etc. Please note: 3 months later(around july 19,2011) my heater "squirrel cage" made strange noises. Naturally it was past warranty date. Parts were 165, labor & taxes $163. Total about $329. Not related to the a/c installation.
