AIR SYSTEMS A/C, HEATING AND REFRIGERATION

The problem cannot be solved very easily without extensive construction. He was very good and spent a lot of time with me which I appreciated. Also, very professional. Even though he could not resolve the problem without major reconfiguration, he was very helpful. I would use him for other AC problems.

Air Systems is a small company with direct involvement of owner during all stages. Owner (Carlos) visited house to work up bid. Both previously on the phone and during initial visit he was very attentive to my needs and did not try to sell me more than I need. On the other hand, he is very knowledgeable and able to explain and as-needed to educate me. I got three quotes and Carlos was the low bid. I believe his was low bid because he padded in less profit (I told him he could raise his price somewhat and still be competitive. Another bid I got from another company was almost $2000 more-I think most of that would have gone to the salesman, who arrived at the house driving a gold Lexus SUV!). Company always was on time for scheduled visits and installations. Work was carefully done. Carlos was present for City inspection and arranged for all (minor) items to be immediately fixed. Overall I felt I got quality product and service at a very good price. I highly recommend this company for consideration. Update #1: System installed in Spring 2011, intentionally before it got hot. When I came back from summer vacation, there was little cooling. Turned out that in the heat of the summer, the adhesive that held and connected the return air to the cooling exchanger (whatever it's called) in the attic had failed & they units came apart. So the return air was being blown into the attic and the AC was sucking in hot attic air to be cooled. The contractor came quickly when I called and immediately identified the problem and spent ~ 4 hours fixing it. No charge. Update #2: In December 2011 when it finally is cool and time for heating--no heat! Again I called and Carlos came next day as scheduled. Turns out that when his techs installed the cooling/heating system, they left the gas-in valves inside the units closed. There was no safety issue because of how ignition is done now a days, but I had no heat. I don't think I had been expected to take off the furnace door and open the valves. It's just that the installers didn't do their job. No charge, but still 8 months since installation. So good marks on customer service, but, really, one expects better work on the installation side. All in all, however, I would still use this contractor for the work.

It was a good experience. Manuel introduced himself, immediately started checking inside and outside, explained thoroughly what he had found and said he needed to pick up a motor. When he got back my husband was home and Manuel showed him what at caused the problem and how to clean it out once a month to prevent further problems.

Excellent! Very excellent!! A home inspection determined that all 5 AC's needed both routine maintenance and also repairs. Carlos, the owner, and his crew were fabulous. They were always on time, polite, and very efficient. Their work was excellent, and I especially appreciated that they did not try to sell me on expensive, unnecessary repairs. Quite the contrary! Carlos worked hard to determine exactly what was causing one unit to shut off, and then recommended the least costly repair. He even followed up several days later to make sure the solution was continuing to work (I was supposed to call him, but had totally forgotten). Throughout the several contacts I had with Air Systems, every person was friendly and helpful. Air System's dedication to hard work, high quality, and excellent service is commendable. Would I recommend them to others? Yes! I already have!

I give the company an F for no communication with the customer and debatable issues with their own coupons.

The sign on the truck says,"Optimum Environment and Quality Service", and this company lives up to its motto. They removed and installed 5 ton units by crane, and I had cold AC that same day. Air Systems (210-738-2665) earns their money the old fashioned way - they work hard for it. The crew - Manuel and David - were terrific, and Carlos, the company owner, led by example. He crawled through attic insulation on a hot day to rectify a problem caused by the previous installer ( poor return air flow back to the air conditioning unit). My house has never been more comfortable. These people deserve my highest recommendation.

I felt that Ruben was very honest. He showed me what the problem was and didn't try to "Upsell" me. He found multiple problems and my a/c is working much better. Very competent, thorough, and honest guy.

Buyer beware. I was looking for a Spring AC tuneup deal and this company had great ratings and a coupon for $59 - great deal - until you read the fine print on the coupon - the coupon is good only for service in Bexar county. They do service other counties (with or without the coupon) for an additional $32.00 fee. I live in Schertz, right outside 1604. Oh well, I'll find another company - and they were so nice on the phone.

I had been using a non-Angies List "bargain" A/C company since last summer who replaced bad capacitors last year & again earlier this week after condensor wouldn't start or made noise again. I suspected this other small company didn't know what they were doing this time, & sure enough, the unit quit again after 2 days. Instead of trying to "save money" or loose more money & call them back... I checked Angies List & was impressed with Air Systems. The receptionist was knowledgable & good. Shortly after a manager, Carlos, called & was very professional & asked for the model # & problem in order to bring correct parts with them. Their technician, Ruben, came over later & he was also very professional, intellegent & kind. He knew his job & A/C equipment very well, & was very courtious & understanding. After testing he knew that the other "bargain company" had put in the wrong size parts & wrong non compatable brands, etc. They were all excellent to work with & I recommend them highly to all, & I'll try to ask for Ruben again next time if he's available. Their price was just what I had figured it would be & on top of that, they gave me an Angies' List discount. This experience is even more evidence that in services & construction .... you will save much more money by calling the pro's first thing from Angies List & not look for the cheapies!! I will use them everytime for A/C trouble in the future!

From the moment Ruben arrived I knew they sent the right person. His diagnostic skills are excellent. He was very efficient and kept me informed of everything he was doing. Thanks to him both my a/c units are cooling properly.

The company did an excellent job of answering my questions and getting the appointment scheduled right away. The technician arrived on time and proceeded to look at both systems. He was very thorough and took a much longer time examining everything than any other provided ever has. He found one area that required fixing (a $48 fix), so that our home would pass inspection (we are getting it ready to sell). He made sure everything was working and clean and was extremely professional. When I need A/C or Heating help again, I will definitely be calling them!

We had their technician named Rubin who showed up on time, ask a number of questions, then proceeded to do the checkup. I have never seen a technician be as straight-forward, and detailed as Rubin. What Rubin didn't know was that a week earlier we had a man from Jon Wayne do the same check. The Jon Wayne man did not spend near the time, nor did he ask any detailed questions on his arrival. He did present us with a "grocery list" of defects that had to be fixed, one package costing up to $3000, the cheapest being $1200. This shocked us because we don't use the AC much and always get checks not showing any defects. We decided to spend the money to repeat the check. It is one of the best decisions we ever made. Rubin has us for a steady client.

This company was recommended to me by a co-worker (and Angie's List user) so I felt very comfortable from the start.The first visit was from a technician who diagnosed the compressor which had died and (unfortunately) a whole new unit (inside and out) was necessary. Luckily for me, the time of year (March) gave me some time to gather several bids and investigate various options. I had 3 different bids from Angie's List candidates and they were all relatively comparable in price. I chose Air Systems because, 1. I was given a detailed bid - in writing - describing everything they would do, 2. I liked that the owner (Carlos) answered every question and investigated every option that I requested and 3. I liked the initital technician's (Reuban) explanation of the problem. During the bid process I was advised by Carlos to go up 1/2 ton on my unit and he offered to send out someone to look at the layout of the house - go into the attic and check the duct work etc. It turns out my outflow duct was not large enough and the old unit was just barely big enough to cool and heat the house efficiently. At no time did I feel pressure to buy the more expensive unit. He simply laid out the facts and let me make the final determination. He also was very helpful about providing rebate information from the city, state, and Federal government. (It remains to be see what I will actually get back). On the day of installation, at precisely 8am, the first technician arrived to prep the house for the new AC unit. Since I was working from home and had changed my schedule to be home that day, I appreciated that they respected my time to be prompt and prepared. It took a full day with several men working to complete the job. One additional thing that I would mention - the new digital control box on the wall was smaller than the original one. Carol had someone go to Home Depot and buy a quart of matching paint so I didn't have to see the marks on the wall where the other, older control had been for 20 years. It's these types of details that impressed me about this company. I am very pleased with the decision I made and will continue to use them in the coming years to service my heating and AC unit. I highly recommend this company to everyone.

Perfect service-fair price-detailed explanation that I could understand. I love this company.

We were afraid our unit going out on us and afraid if not someone was going to try to sell us a new unit anyway. We called this company based on the Angie's List rating that morning and they sent out Ruben that afternoon. He arrived on time, was very professional, courteous, had no problems with our 3 large inside dogs. Our unit has been running great ever since the services he performed. All in all this was a fabulous experience and we highly recommend this company.

David the technician was on time. He found one of our HVAC motors that was making a loud noise was broken. He found that is was under warranty and took the broken motor (the company had a local office) and they gave him a new motor. He also gave two estimates for another issue and maintanance that I thought were very fair. David did a great job and went out of his way to show me what was wrong. I will definitely recomend Air Systems to friends and family.

We had a very professional experience from start to finish.From the time I called the receptionist who was courteous considering I called in the afternoon, she arranged a same day appointment. David arrived when he said he would fixed the problem on the heater and assessed the maintenance that should be done in the future. My wife and I could not be any happier. I called to schedule an appointment and someone was able to come out in 2 days (it wasn't an emergency and the appointment day worked well with my work schedule). The service rep got caught in heavy traffic on the way to my house so called me to let me know he was on his way but would be a few minutes late. I appreciated his call. During the inspection, he took his time, was thorough in his inspection and explained to me what he was doing and why. When he finished and gave me an assessment I asked about other heating-related questions (how long is insulation good for and what are the various choices). He took his time and answered my questions so I understood. My furnace is old so I asked about higher efficiency units and he said there are more efficient units available and wrote a note for someone from the office to call me with information and pricing. He was also very neat. He didn't track dirt into the house when he came in and out and was very careful climbing the stairs to the attic which is in the clothes closet - he was careful not to knock things with his tool bag. Ruben was pleasant and professional.

Workers were on time and worked hard to finish job in even better time than promised. Very courteous and professional. Thorough in their work.

I received a total of four proposals. Dealing directly with the owner, Carlos, Air Systems by far proposed the best system, yet had the lowest cost. The proposal was detailed, and he responded to our questions promptly. They arrived every day exactly on time. (The installation took 2 days, and fine-tuning was done on the 3rd day.) The crew was professionally dressed, very polite, and knew what they were doing. Attention was paid to cleanliness while performing the work. Drop cloths were laid on all the carpeting and flooring they would be walking on in our home. Carlos was on site the entire time overseeing every detail of the work. The installation was done quietly and on time. Carlos kept me informed of progress. In addition to the required installation, they added some required ducts, sealed duct work, and added extras like float detector, clean out access, etc. They also brought several things up to current code. All within the quoted price. Because of the improvements they made, we experienced some unexpected problems due to clogged plumbing we weren't aware of previously. Carlos and his crew returned each time and spent considerable effort to correct the problem without complaint and at no extra cost. His utmost goal was to have a happy customer. Each workman from this company was professional, neatly dressed, responsive and explained what he was doing if need be. One reason we selected Air Systems is because the technicians have a special certification which we thought would make them more knowledgeable. We would most definitely choose this company again. We were impressed that the owner was involved throughout. He is definitely a man of his word who wants to give first-rate quality of service to his customers -- and succeeded in our book. Because of our recommendation, friends used them the following week for the same service and were equally pleased. There are many HVAC companies to choose from, and some we hear of often through advertisements, etc. But I am sold on Air Systems and would heartily recommend their services to anyone.

I was working with a contractor through the Home Warranty company. My existing A/C and Heater were old and causing problems and instead of piecing together replacement parts, I opted to take advantage of the rebates offered for replacements. I contacted Air Systems - as well as 2 other vendors. Carlos was the first one to come out and he was very honest and did not give me the hard sell. In fact, when I began this process, I had no intentions of purchasing a Trane. But, after receiving all of the quotes, I opted to go with the Trane. Carlos was not the lowest price of the three but he was not much more than the lowest. The lowest price presented by another contractor was for a mid-line brand with a lower level warranty and was only a couple of hundred dollars less. So, I felt like I was getting a good deal for a top of the line product. Carlos and his team were professional, on time, honest and very pleasant to work with. They made the process very easy for me and I am so happy to have found his company. I will probably need my upstairs unit replaced in the not too distant future and will absolutely be calling Air Systems to do it.

The A/C in one of our rental homes went out. It was a Sunday night. We tried to reach a few other companies and they were the only ones to respond promptly. They arrived by 10pm and took replaced some wiring and charged the freon. Problem solved:) The price was reasonable

Carlos came out to give us an estimate. Based other other research we had done, we thought the estimate was fair. We also felt that the high rating on Angies List helped. Carlos and his arrived on time and kept on the job until it was mainly completed. They did have to come back a few days later, but that was well coordinated with us. They were very, very nice and very professional. They also inspected our duct work and we have contracted with them to have that replaced later this fall. They assisted us with the CPS rebates and we are proceeding with those filings, etc. We had been a customer of Jon Wayne Heating and A/C , but we felt more confortable and confident in Air Systems expertise. We look forward to having Air Systems as our A/C repair and maintenance company. If Angies List had an A+ plus rating, they would get it.

Air conditioning stopped working on 8/3/2010, called at 8:30 am on 8/4/2010. James was here at 10:30 a.m. Had to go get parts. Back, replaced part of air conditioner and it started working at noon. Very good, just signed us for spring check up.

Great experience overall with this company. Called them out to inspect noisy condensor unit and they determined (as expected) it needed to be replaced. Quoted a very competitive price for the work, including replacement of inside unit. Small misquote on the condensor (it turned out I needed a more expensive type than quoted) but the company gave me the quoted price anyway. They completed the work in 2.5 days (incl. one night without cooling). Only negative was that the new blower is louder than the one replaced, but Carlos discussed possible solutions to that.
