Same day service, within two hours of my call. Work completed within an hour and a half or so. Consulted regarding condition of our system and recommended regular check ups with them or another company. Friendly and courteous. Accepted the Angie's list coupon with no problem.
Description of Work: Repaired an electrical contact on the outside unit as a bug crawled in and gummed it up.

They were prompt and thorough and I Will definitely call them again for anything A/C heating and refrigeration.
Description of Work: The cost of $49.00 was part of Angie's List The Big Deal. This was a pre-season check up on the furnace. Air Systems A/C, Heating and Refrigeration did a fine job and explained what they were looking for ie., gas leaks, good ventilation etc., He even went up in the attic to check the flow and duct work.

Scheduling process was very efficient and we were able to work out an appointment within two days (at my request/not an emergency). Rueben (service tech) did a great job troubleshooting my system and informed me that the circuit board was the problem. He ordered the new part and was available at my first opportunity to come back and install the board. Board installation went smoothly and efficiently. I used the coupon for the waiver of the diagnostic fee and feel that the overall price was fair and reasonable. The service was excellent and the service tech (Reuben) was very knowledgeable, polite and efficient. I spoke with Carlos (I think he is the owner) about my very positive experience and I told him that I would not hesitate to use Air Systems again in the future. I highly recommend this company for your heating and air conditioning needs.
Description of Work: Air Systems came over to diagnose and repair a malfunctioning air exchanger in my house. Replaced the circuit board in the attic air exchanger/heater.

Our 11 year old Trane heat pump had stopped working. I had called our regular A/C company and was told that we needed a new air handler fan motor to the tune of $1,400. Since the unit was 11 years old we thought we would get estimates on a new unit. I got an estimate from our existing contractor and made two other calls, the last company I called was Air Systems. Carlos came out to give us an estimate but before we talked about a new unit he asked me questions about why we were replacing our present unit. He then asked me about the past history of the unit and since I had all the repair records he looked to see what had been done and then asked to see the air handler. He said he felt that it was the module and not the fan motor itself. He suggested we try a new module first then go from there. Well, he was right ! it was just the module and not the whole fan unit. He saved us $800.00 on the repair and saved us from having to buy a new unit which could run any where from $9,000.00-$12.000 . Carlos could have pulled out his sales book and tried to sell us a new unit and we would have not known any better. He compared the 11 year old heat pump to a car and asked me if I would buy a new car if the radiator went bad, and of course I said no.When he made that analogy it made such sense, he said he felt that we had a few more years left in our Trane if we kept up the yearly maintenance. I could not be more happy. I like the business model of Air Systems and they are now my go to company.

I discovered my A/C wasn't cooling and got a response within 10 minutes of my initial call. The technician came out the next day. He was prompt, thorough and professional. He explained what was needed and asked for my approval of his recommendations and solved the problems. I was very satisfied with the response and the results.
Description of Work: A/C diagnostics (high voltage breaker was tripped), cleaned clogged Condenser & Evaporative Coil, checked pressures and repaired a system that was not cooling. Also completed a Fall Checkup.

Overall, my experience with Air Systems was that they were good people that provided a great service and will use them again in the future, but hopefully not the near future $$.

David arrived on time. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. Repairs took two days to complete due to a delay in the delivery of a part he needed. This was not an inconvenience for me though.

We called Air Systems in the afternoon and they had a technician at the house within 5 hours. It took about 2 hours and well into the evening to complete the diagnosis of a bad control panel. We paid a fair service charge for the diagnosis, and the next day received an estimate for the repairs. We decided to have Air Systems perform the repairs and the next morning, at the scheduled time, they arrived and performed the repairs efficiently. Even though they diagnostic work done a few days earlier was done during overtime, Carlos honored the Angie's List discount coupon and subtractd $65 from the overall repair bill. We will absolutely call Air Systems for any future heater and air conditioner service and repair>
Description of Work: Air Systems performed a diagnostic procedure on my AC system and correctly diagnosed a faulty control panel. ithin 36 hours they replaced the control panel and my AC unit has run flawlessly since that time.

They responded very quickly and thoroughly checked out the system. Determined that the air handler in the attic had a bad valve which need to be replaced. They obtained a new OEM (original equipment, not generic) part early the following morning and had us back up and running by 11:30 the following day. The owner personally called me twice after the repairs were completed to verify that the system was stable and still cooling properly. First class people and first class company.

As new homeowners of a pre-existing home, I contacted this provider to perform a routine AC checkup because of its top ratings on Angie's List. And once again, I was very pleased with the outcome. The technician, David, was very thorough and knowledgeable. He took the time to explain features of the unit that were important but which we did not know about. Ruben performed the service call. He explained everything he was doing and looking at. First, the outside unit was inspected. He noted some loose wires that connect to the condensor. He told me that this was the reason the unit was not working. It looked like the wires had melted. He showed me a few other things and wrapped the end of the wires for safety. He also turned the power off to the unit. He then went to the attic to inspect the inside unit. He took a picture of it with his cell phone to show me. I thought that was quite nice to do that. After the inspection he told me that a new unit was needed. We discussed a few options for a replacement. He got on the phone to the office to start the replacement process. Ruben was very courteous and polite. I received a quote for 3 or 4 types of units the very next day. The outside unit was installed on a Friday and the inside unit was installed on Monday. Manuel was the installer. He was very courteous, polite and explained everything he was doing. He knocked on the door each time he needed to come in. Manuel stayed that Monday until the job was complete and the A/C was working. The overall service was phenominal and I have already told numerous people about Air Systems. Everyone I spoke to was very nice and seemed genuinely concerned about my A/C problem. It's the best service I have had in a long time. I joined Angie's List just for this reason. My A/C was out and I needed to find someone honest and reliable.

I called for an estimate, which I was told up front cost $125. I'm not accustomed to paying for estimates. My home was a recently purchased foreclosure and as such, had an inside air handler with duct work, but not an outside compressor. My request was to provide an outside unit only. What I got in return were 3 separate estimates ranging from $8,000 to $15,000 for complete new systems. Not money well spent, in my opinion.

The price was out of the ballpark for what was done. Will request specifically a "how much" next time I use someone from Angies list.
Description of Work: The fans were not working so I called for someone to come and look at it. He fixed it but did not discuss cost prior to fixing it (replacing a small cylinder that plugged in. The price was even with a $65.00 diagnositic waiver.

No service problems, but there was a lot of confusion for me on the pricing. When I initially called in I talked to a woman to set up an appointment. I discussed with her the 2 coupons provided by Angies List. One was for a $59 tune up the other was for waiving the $65 diagnostic fee. She told when the technician arrives and checks the system and everything falls under the tune up then the charge would be $59 plus the cost of freon if needed. So I get a call from the technician and he tells me the Outside Coil needs to be cleaned and I will need freon. He quotes me a price of $170 and $25 per pound of Freon. I then tried to contact the woman I had talked to, but was to late the calls had already been transferred to a voice mail service. The Technician then put in touch with the owner. I talked to Carlos, who kept a professional attitude thourghout our conversation, about the pricing and I told him what the lady had told me that this could fall under a tune-up. Carlos told me that he couldn't do this under a tune-up because it was a service call and that is how it should be billed. As you can see I got a different response from the owner than what I got from lady who scheduled the call. Ok, since this was now only to be looked at as a service call, he diagnosed the problem--I can use the Angie list coupon to waive the diagnostic, but the price was going to be $170 and $25 per pound to fix the problems found during the diagnostic. Just to add Freon and not clean the coils would cost $136 plus $25 per pound of freon. I was under the impression initially that things like cleaning coils would be covered in something like the tune up. Not the case only that the tune up was just to tell you what you needed to get done to the AC then other prices start coming out for that. I thought the prices were high at that point and I could of said no thanks, but the technician was there and I rent out the unit to a tenant so I feel like I paid an unexpected premium for AC charge/coil cleaning. Armed with this knowledge I will definitely call around next time and ask the right questions about pricing to avoid confusion. My biggest concern was just the confusion about the pricing and different responses from the owner and the lady working at the front desk. I noticed, this was also the same remarks made by another Angies list customer. I do understand what Carlos had told me, but that was after the technician had arrived. I was price shocked based on what I had originally thought the cost would be. I answered NO on using this company again, because there was no Maybe option. I just think I could of found cheaper--but I could be wrong. If I did use the company again I would want to speak directly to Carlos about any pricing arrangements to avoid the confusion of 2 different responses, and since it seemed like he made the finally decision on the pricing and billing anyway.

Member called the office on 7/12/11 at 2:36. He stated he had a rental property where the A/C was not cooling. He asked if he could use the "Big Deal A/C tune up" coupon or the "waive diagnostic" coupon. He was advised that because the unit was not cooling, this is considered a no cooling call or service call and he could use the "waive diagnostic" coupon. He agreed and the service call was scheduled. The technician arrived within one hour. He diagnosed the problem and contacted the member. The technician gave him pricing to correct the problem and the member wanted to be billed the "Big Deal tune up" price. The difference between tune ups and service calls were explained again to the member. Tune ups are not scheduled the same day, where no cooling or service calls are. He persisted that he wanted to pay the lower rate but finally agreed to the pricing. When the technician called the member to collect for the service, the member continued that he didn't understand the pricing. The pricing was explained a third time. Our pricing is firm and non-negotiable. We offer fair and competitive pricing for quality service to all our customers and Angie's List members.

I purchased the special for Spring A/C maintenance but also knew I needed work on the A/C ducts. The technician, Ruben, arrived at the appointed time, having called 20 minutes prior to reconfirm. In addition to routine maintenance, the ducts in the crawl space needed repair, as many were separated. Ruben was able to complete the maintenance and the repairs on the same day. He was professional and courteous. I would definitely use this service again.

I found the "Big Deal" on Angie's list and purchased the deal after speaking with this highly rated Angie's List company. I spoke to office staff regarding the exact details of the deal and the staff told me that the AC unit would be cleaned and inspected. I mentioned that my main concern was having the inside coil (evaporator) inspected and cleaned. The staff person stated that the coil would be inspected and cleaned however if the coil was really dirty it would need to be removed and cleaned and there would be an additional charge. I stated that was fine as long as they let me know the charge prior to work being done. This unit is at my mom's home and she is elderly so she asked me to help get the service done. The technician arrived and spent approx.1 hr at the house. When my mom asked about cleaning the unit he stated he wasn't doing any cleaning just inspecting. He did cite the coil as being dirty on the inspection report my mom received. He did not clean it. My mom doesn't think he cleaned the outside condenser coil either however in fairness she can't be sure because she did not follow him outside as he worked. Based on the technician's statement about not cleaning I can only assume my mom is right. I did call the company the next day to inquire about the lack of cleaning. I spoke with Carlos who stated he was the owner. He stated that by "cleaning" they mean "inspecting". The Angie's list coupon clearly indicates that the deal is for "clean and inspect". Carlos stated that cleaning would be an extra charge. I began to suspect the old bait and switch tactic. Our conversation continued but did not go well and as I mentioned to Carlos I found him to be abrasive, at times I thought his demeanor/approach to my concerns were inappropriate, and I also mentioned that I did not appreciate his definition of "inspection means cleaning". Carlos insisted that I received a good deal for the price I paid which I do agree with but again the office stated that cleaning would be included also. Our phone connection went bad but Carlos did call me back stating that he did speak with his technician and the technician stated that he did clean the outside coil and Carlos stated his technician is a very honest person. At this point I made the decision that my mom's AC was serviced at a fair price but not according to the "Big Deal" specifics and my conversation with the office staff and the overall experience for me and my mom was unsatisfactory. I should add that Carlos offered to revisit my mom's house and service the unit again if necessary but at that point I could no longer trust his company to do that work considering the experience I just had. My faith in the company was no longer there. Considering the mis-communication between the office staff and the technician, the way in which the owner dealt with my concerns, the negative experience we had with this simple maintenance service call, I could not recommend this company and I am suspicious of the good reports that have been published about them on the Angie's list website.

Their techs are empowered. Ruben, our tech, took ownership of the project. He was patient and communicative. It was as if it was his personal AC unit and he was not leaving until it was in top working condition. Where repairs were required, he described the problem, showed us the parts that needed replacement and let us watch the repair. With an older unit I was concerned that they would try to sell me a new unit. Not the case, Ruben was completely honest and brought the unit to peak working condition. What impressed me the most was that Ruben was scheduled to do a quick diagnostic and would return when he had the time to make any needed repairs. However, the previous owners did a poor job maintaining the unit and had left exposed high voltage wires. Even though he was on a tight schedule, Ruben knew that my grandchildren were moving in and he refused to leave the exposed wires, knowing the kids could be hurt. He called in and got permission to redo the wiring, which added more than an hour to his already busy day. This is the first time, after many encounters with tradespeople over the years, that I actually can say the a tech, Ruben, has become a friend. This is a great company; have no fear employing them.
Description of Work: Air Systems performed diagnostics on the AC unit on a newly purchased home. The unit is about ~20 years old and they did some minor necessary repairs, then did a thorough cleaning of the heat pump unit.

I was very satisfied. Air Systems went above and beyond to help a son get his father the service he deserves.
Description of Work: My elderly father lives alone in San Antonio Texas, and has had Air Conditioning problems for the past 2 months. I live in Houston, Texas. He has had 2 other companies including the one that installed the system 2 years ago, come and look at the system. Both companies claimed that their were major problems with the system. Dad has problems finding service people that he can trust so this is why I had to get involved. I talked to my Air Conditioning company Air Tech of Houston, and he told me about Angie's List. I decided on Air Systems, called and talked to Anita and told her my dilemma. I asked if she could have a technician meet me when I arrived in San Antonio. She kept in touch with me so that we could get this done. The technician, Ruben, arrived within 15 minutes of my arrival, I talked to him about the situation and he was very understanding in the 100 degree sun, and got to work. It turned out that the system was 10 pounds low on coolant and he filled it. He told us to let it run because in the middle of the day it would be hard for the system to cool the house down until the sun went down. The Air Conditining is now working and I am so thankful that a company like AIr Systems is there when people need them.

They would not come out because they are booked but they advertise they do quick calls. I have 3 kids and in this heat it is inexcusable.
Description of Work: Our compressor went out on our AC unit. I called another company not this one to come by and was told that after a thorough inspection that the compressor is the problem and that it would cost around $2600 to replace but having a warranty on the compressor I would only pay for labor, freon and any addtional parts not covers which would be around $1200.00. I found this too expensive. I called this company and told them exactly what I needed based on the above and was then told they could not help me at all because they were booked all week but in the beginning of the phone call they said they were available. It is obivous that they don't really help the customer save money they rip them off. It is a shame that you can't have honest companies that can help especially today with the way the ecomony is.

The member called and asked if we could replace a compressor that same day. He was advised that we had a very busy week and we could not schedule a compressor replacement. He was never told that we could replace his compressor as he states. He was very upset and could not understand how we could have such a busy schedule. His claims that we "rip" people off and that we are not honest are completely false and unsubstantiated. Our ultimate goal is complete customer satisfaction and our ratings on Angie's List where we have performed service or replaced equipment attests to this.

Great. Got the AC unit up and running within an hour after it was over 100 degrees outside and 84 in the house at 9 pm at night.
Description of Work: Replaced the capacitors on the unit. Got it up and running within an hour. Manuel was the guy that did the work. Very respectable and took the time to show me what was wrong. He came out on Friday at 9:30 pm and did the work. Everything was upfront on the prices including an afterhour charge which was $78. I would recommend this company and would use them again.

The first visit, to repair the exterior unit, was great. No complaints about the service or the price. The second visit, I was satisfied with the work performed but very unsatisfied with the price. I realize it was Sunday, and Mother's Day, and that most places will have a price differential for weekend work. I have no problem with that. My issue was that the differential that was quoted to me over the phone, and what I was eventually charged for, differed by over $100. For that much money I would have sweated it out another night or two and scheduled service during the regular work week. But since I was quoted a much different and really reasonable-sounding price for them to come out on Sunday, it was low enough that I had them come out on Sunday. When I got the bill and told the technician what I was told over the phone, he said he had no way to verify this and would not work with me to help make this right. Too bad because they could have had more business from me if they'd worked with me more. I also feel that the problems that were found on the second visit could have been found on the first visit, which was during the regular workweek and was only about six weeks prior.
Description of Work: This review is actually for two services. One in March to repair the exterior A/C unit, the second in May to repair the interior A/C. My grade is an average for the two services.

This customer called for service on a Sunday. The answering service received her information and the owner contacted her. He advised her of our week-end rate and she stated she had to have it taken care of because she didn't have time during the work week. The technician arrived at the agreed upon time and determined the problem. He received her approval before resolving the problem. After correcting the problem, he presented her with the invoice. She stated she had spoken to a female that gave her different pricing. The answering service, whom she initially spoke with, does not relay pricing information, they take contact information and send the message to the owner. It was noted on the invoice that the customer was not happy with the pricing. The owner contacted her and advised her that he had given her the week-end pricing and that she was billed properly. To maintain good will, he gave her a discount on the invoice. Regarding her statement that we should have found the second problem at the initial call, the problem was with the external electrical components. Breakers do not get checked, unless there is a problem with them. This was not the problem at the initial call.

They provided incredible service. The owner came out twice to make sure that the job was done correctly. They stayed very late into the night to make sure that the heater was complete and working before they left. I thought they were great overall and I would definitely recommend that everybody give them a shot. They were reasonably price and gave quick service.
Description of Work: I had some heating work done by Air Systems A/C, Heating and Refrigeration. They came out in the middle of winter, about January. They repaired our central air heater.
