Showed up on time to address my issue. I reported a water leakage which was the drip pan overflowing but, I could not find the leak myself. Unfortunately my schedule forced me to have to wait a couple of days for some time off . The AC tech cannot guarantee an excat time of arrival. The leak dripped and onto and shorted the control board. Tech arrived and was professional and with help from dispatch verified my assumption that the board had shorted. Dispatch told him to revmoe the fan and drain the water, remove the board and bypass the board. During this time they should have looked into why the condensate was leaking initially. They temporarily fixed the issue because he did not carry the parts and left. Before leaving he told me that I would have to schedule a followup appointment so someone could come out and fix the secondary issue resulting from my first sympto the leak. Never had that happen usually they assess the issue get the parts and fix the problem same day. Second tech showed later that Friday afternoon and replaced the board. I kept having to ask him to check where the leak came from. We went back and forth with what he thought the issue was and I finally convinced him to check out the condensate pipe that ran into the slab under the furnace. Come to find out a rodent had chewed on the pipe causing the leak. Once we found that out the technician looked at his watch and said I would have to schedule yet another call to fix the issue since "it was a Friday and he was off the clock by that time" REALLY NEVER HAD THAT PROBLEM EITHER!!!!!He left after charing me for the board, to glue the PVC condensate pipe to a ball valve that was already present and to recharge the system that the previous technician had told me was fine. I asked him about that and he said that the first guy made a mistake. I was so upset that I just paid the guy went to HD and fixed the condensate pipe myself that weekend. Never choose someone here just because they offer a coupon waiving the service call. I paid and extra 70 dollars because the first guy did not fix anything.

The technician came on time and was very courteous as he went about the repair; he took special care to explain what he was doing step by step, and was willing to answer any questions. Additionally, he make sure that everything he had to remove to do the repair was put back in place.

Our a/c was freezing up and it was hot so we needed to get someone out to find out what the problem was and to fix it asap. Our regular a/c man was busy so I looked up a/c repair on Angie's List and this company had a lot of reviews, including an A for price, which was a major concern. I called in the morning and they sent someone out in the late afternoon. The man was very nice and he set us up for temporary air conditioning by bypassing the circuit board which he said was the problem, but they charged $68.00 for the "diagnostic" and $140 for the job and $10 for gas for the trip. I told him I had a coupon for $65 off for repair work and he said that the office person told him we didn't have real repairs done, just a temporary repair, so we didn't get the discount... then we found out that the diagnostic price is actually discounted to everyone if a repair is done. I guess they used the Angie's List coupon as a gimmick so they could be at the top of the list of companies and they only consider it a repair if you buy parts? Anyway, the next day I got a call and was told it would be around $378 for the repair, not including tax (and I assume not including the fuel cost they charge and don't tell you about.) The break down was $203 for the part and $175 for labor. I looked up the part online and found it for around $80 so I called them back and asked them about the part and was told that they included a 1 yr warranty with the part... so I asked how much was for the part and how much was for the warranty and he couldn't tell me, said it was all together. He also said the labor included drive time to pick up the part, but they had to order it and wouldn't be able to get it or install it until the end of the week. I decided to ask around to find out what others would charge and called another person on Angie's List. The guy recognized my name, which is strange as my name is unusual. He asked me if I had someone else service my a/c first and then he tried to convince me to stay with them, telling me that $200 for a circuit board was a great price and actually cheap, though he didn't even know the specifics of the a/c unit to even know what kind I needed. (I learned this from google.) He spent several minutes lecturing me on how expensive it is to run a business and how I should be willing to pay them decent money for their time, advertising, having someone on the road, etc. I'm guessing they are affiliated somehow. I called back our regular a/c guy hoping he wasn't still busy and he gave a price for roughly half of what these men tried to tell me was a good price AND he was able to set up an appointment the same day.
Description of Work: We had a bad fan circuit board so the tech wired around it keeping the a/c on but the fan running constantly until we could get a circuit board. He said it would have to be ordered if they didn't have it in stock and they would call with the price of the board and an estimate for installation.

My AC was not cooling. Called on Sat afternoon. They use an answering service and they returned my call within about 5 minutes. Gave an estimate of an hour to an hour and a half until they could come to my house. Arrived after about two hours. Were able to complete the recharge and we had cool air before bedtime. Need to follow up on system leak. Have scheduled another appointment.

Noticed a gradual loss of cooling capacity over a 4-5 week period. Called Air Systems based on Angie's list reviews and got a service call appointment with 4 hours. The technician (Carlos) arrived on time and diagnosed the problem ( low refrigerant due to a leak at hose connection). Repaired leak, added 5 lbs refrigerant, verified incoming and return temps. Very professional and knowledgable.

Rick was very good and I would call and request him again, if something else were to occur.
Description of Work: Rick came out and ran a diagnostic on my AC. He walked me through, step by step, as he performed the diagnostic, explaining what he was finding and what the problem was. He ended up replacing the capacitor and the contractor. He let me know that a second capacitor was still okay, but that it would be the first thing he would suggest we look at, if the AC were to quit again. He also suggested that I have the system cleaned soon and that by doing it, it would increase the systems efficiency.

Called Air Systems on Sunday and Carlos returned my call right away. I requested that our 32 year old duct air flow system be checked for leakage in our home. Carlos set up an appointment to check the system on the following Tuesday. He and his assistant David arrived on time and called 30 minutes prior to let us know they were on their way. The entire system check took about an hour. We were so pleased to learn that our home did not require any additional work to correct leakage problems! All the paperwork was completed by Carlos for us to take advantage of the CPS Rebate Program to have this check done. My husband and I both felt that Carlos was honest, hard working, knowledgeable and willing to answer all our questions about heating/air conditioning improvements that we might want to consider in the future. We will definitely use his company again!

This was one of the best experiences I've ever had with a repair. Ruben showed up for the diagnosis and was very informative. He walked me through every step and explained what he was doing and finding. He was very professional, on time, and just a great guy. He took town the serial number off the unit and the company called and told me it was still under warranty (to my surprise). The day of the repair Ruben even had to take the old coil out and had to drive across town to get the new one. I have nothing negative to say about this company and Ruben was great. I now have a HVAC company I will always use in the future. These guys were excellent!!
Description of Work: A/C unit wasn't cooling and was freezing up. I called and they came right out at my convenience. I was informed that there was low freon and low pressure on the system. After further inspection a small leak was found on the back side of the evaporator coil. This meant that the coil needed to be replaced. Since I was leaving town the next day we scheduled to have the coil replaced on my return. Within the day I was called and informed that the coil was still under warranty (which made me happy) and we scheduled for the repair. The day of the actual repair Ruben showed up and replaced the coil, recharged the freon, vacuumed the system, and the system was back up and running.

I knew I had a freon leak (due to a service call by another company a couple of months before) but was waiting for the weather to get warm again before I had to have it fully repaired. I chose Air Systems and they were very professional -- arrived on time, layed out floor covers and also use shoe covers. Did a huge job very efficiently - very careful of my floors and furnishings as they moved parts out and new parts in. The day before they talked through my options and the estimates and the supervisor was here much of the next day checking out the system.

I called on Saturday and within a few minutes Carlos returned my call. Carlos contacted Trane on Monday morning and determined that the compressor was still under warranty. Carlos provided 2 options and pricing on replacing a/c system, estimate on repair, and answered all my questions. I decided to repair system including compressor, contact, and capacitor on outside unit and condensor coil on inside unit. Ruben and Rick were professional, informative and friendly. The bill was as discussed. Excellent job and service all the way around!

I called & emailed the company on a Sunday and Carlos answered my email within minutes. I was shocked on the speediness of the response. He was extremely polite, friendly, and responsive. Carlos said I would be contacted the next day to schedule an appointment and he did just that. The appointment was set-up with our tenant and the technician was on time and quickly diagnosed the issue. Carlos promptly called me with the diagnosis and price. The price was very reasonable and the problem was quickly repaired. He even offered to bill me! Who does that anymore? Not to mention Carlos contacted me two days later to follow up on the work performed and made sure the problem was diagnosed and repaired properly, which it was.
Description of Work: Troubleshoot an issue that I could only describe. I had not seen or experienced the problem first hand, so I had to rely on the company for an honest assessment.

I found Air Systems in the monthly booklet from Angie's List and on the strength of that I called and arranged for someone to come and diagnose the problem with my furnace. It was having real difficulty maintaining the proper temperature in the house. Ruben came and spent an hour or so and reported that there was a leak of coolant that was too serious to patch. Carlos, then, called with a proposal to replace the furnace which was still under warranty. He called and found that Sears no longer serviced its warranty work and also found that the coil was covered which made it unnecessary to purchase a new one. He gave me an estimate of the cost which turned out to be as close as it was possible to get considering that the amount of coolant needed could not be estimated. David and Rick came and replaced the coil in about 5 hours of work. All were very nice people and well-qualified to accomplish the repair. My house now is properly warmed and I fully expect that it will be properly cooled when the time comes.
Description of Work: Ruben, David, and Rick were very well-spoken, efficient, and courteous. They obviously knew their jobs well and finished the work in very good time. Carlos stayed in touch and helped me with the warranty issue which saved me great, large sums of money. He went out of his way to accomplish this. These are very nice people to work with.and I would recommend them to anyone with heating/air conditioning problems.

I am an architect and suggested Air Systems for my clients, based on Angie's List numerous positive reviews and reporting. Their proposal was the most detailed received and fair in pricing (as vetted with a mechanical engineering colleague). We appreciated the thorough, itemized scope they listed out which also ensured clarity on the services provided. It was a very professional proposal for a residential project. The clients were very pleased with their service and timeliness. They reported that Air Systems was conscientious. They assisted them with filing rebates, and came back twice to make sure the outdoor equipment was stable and installed to their satisfaction. I am grateful in the care Air Systems took with the clients because their performance reflects on our judgement and ability to serve our clients well.

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SAN ANTONIO AIR SYSTEMS! This company seemed on the level when I had them conduct an inspection in November. I received a written estimate from Carlos Jimenez on 1 December via email that itemized work, but did not provide a total. I called the company to speak with him to confirm the total for the services in the letter. After our conversation I agreed to the price of the total itemized services, which included tax, in the document provided verbally in lieu of a second written estimate. I was finally able to book with the company to complete the proposed work and was presents with a bill for over $410. when I asked to speak with the inspector that provided the estimate, he called my cell phone and I reminded him of the letter. He stated he would accept the payment of $388 because the difference now was additional tax and that I am to never call his company for service again, then hung up on me. His employees standing by pretended not to hear and claimed they did not catch what their boss had said & done, but I informed them that was very unprofessional. I then decided to pay with check rather than credit card, as I suspected additional problems only to then have the staff question my check with the address of my condo home. Since the time the work was conducted, my HVAC system has not been working properly. It makes a lot more noise when running and does not disengage when I adjust the thermostat or shut it off completely. Now that the company refuses further business, I take that also to mean they do not stand behind their work. As a result of the unsatisfactory work that, due to issues in my home, are a result of their poor workmanship, I will be brining in another inspector and repair company to get the job done right. If you're in the market for an HVAC inspection or work, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. Your money should be spent on a company that will be worth the investment. San Antonio Air Systems is not it. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH SAN ANTONIO AIR SYSTEMS. While they might get the job done, they are not worth the frustration.
Description of Work: I paid this company to conduct an inspection of the Hvac system after a home inspection last November. The proposed work was to cover exposed wires on the system on the roof, put a rubber bushing around an internal hose and install a filter. The list of materials on and description of work performed, completed by Ruben, coincided with what the letter proposed. Since the time the work was conducted, my HVAC system has not been working properly. However, now the HVAC makes a lot more noise when running and does not disengage when I adjust the thermostat or shut it off completely. So the work has been for nothing.

Response from AIR SYSTEMS A/C, HEATING AND REFRIGERATION
PLEASE NOTE that she does not make mention of the quality of our work, responsiveness, and punctuality. This "F" rating across the board is solely because she did not want to pay sales tax of $22.00 and she was advised that we would no longer service her. This member was given a written estimate for repair work and sales tax was not included. When she was presented the invoice she stated she was not going to pay the sales tax. She was advised that the written estimate did not include tax and she persisted that she was not going to pay the total with sales tax. At that point, she was advised that we would accept payment without sales tax and because of this, and other reasons, we advised her we would no longer service her. We serviced her in November and she called us back to perform the additional recommended repairs. If she felt at that time that our quality of work, price, etc. were so poor, she would not have hired us a second time.

I had a power surge knock out my old thermostat. When I hooked up a new one, I couldn't get any hot air. They checked everything for issues and determined I was just a moron when installing the replacement. The price was more than fair and I couldn't be happier with their service!

I highly recommend Air Systems for their fair prices, quality work, punctuality, courtesy, and professionalism.
Description of Work: My A/C unit was running fine but I knew it was due for its maintenance service. I called Jon Wayne Heating and Air because I liked their commercials on TV. Their technician came out and was very nice. I had confidence in him, although I didn't think he seemed to do as much as a previous company I had. But this was mainly a heating service. He did a maintenance service on my one story 1820 sf residence for $99.00. At the end of the maintenance service, I was given an estimate sheet for repairs Jon Wayne said I needed. Three options were on the sheet. Option 1 included the installation of a drain alert, and replacement of one indoor and one outdoor capacitor. It was $1700. Option 2 and 3 were without the drain alert, and listed replacement of both or only one of the capacitors. I was shocked at the price for all the options. Did I really need everything on Option 1? Should I just buy a whole new unit rather than investing $1700 in a 9 year old system? The tech told me it would be cheaper to do Option 1 than scheduling everything in Option 1 over time. After a sleepless night worrying about what repair decision I should choose, I decided to get a second opinion. I found Air Systems on Angie's List with very, very good "A" reviews. They came out the same day. I did not tell them what Jon Wayne had told me. I just asked for a check to see if my system was failing or about to fail. Carlos, one of the owners, did the checkup. He told me I had one capacitor on the outdoor unit that was performing at 4.5 when it is rated a 10 (10 being new and having full life). He said it is still working, and probably would continue to work for a month or two before it needed replacement. Then I showed him the estimate from Jon Wayne. He took me to the indoor unit and put the monitoring device on the capacitor Jon Wayne said I needed to replace. He had me read the reading. It was 9.7. This capacitor was also rated 10 so it was just partially used up and had a lot of service left in it. Then he told me about drain alert devices. He showed me two places where it could be installed. And he added that you don't really need the device if you keep your air filters clean. He also recommended I pour 1 cup of bleach down the drain monthly especially in summer. I'm a senior citizen and don't have $1700 laying around. I was so glad I paid for a second opinion. I was so furious at Jon Wayne for worrying me and trying to sell me two items I really did not need for such a huge amount of money. Jon Wayne should refund my maintenance fee because they caused me to pay Air Systems to recheck what they said. I will never use them again. I had Carlos replace the outdoor capacitor that was at 4.5. The price including the new capacitor, installation and the system checkup was $261.11. I had a very good experience with Air Systems--so professional and knowledgeable--including the office staff. Thank you all. I will use them again in the future. They get a resounding "A" rating from me. Thank you, Angie's List, for your service too. Because of your service and reviews, I didn't become just another victim.

Excellent, courteous workmanship. I'd use them again.
Description of Work: My gas heater stopped working 1 day before a really cold spell; they came out, diagnosed a valve problem, but couldn't get the part because the parts stores were closed for the weekend. They picked up the part first thing on Monday and it was repaired that afternoon.

We've used them 2 or 3 times. They replaced a 2 1/2 ton system previously. The experience was great and they were fantastic. They were one of the lower bids we got. We had an electrical problem about a month after the install and they came out 2 days in a row and got it fixed. They did a real good job on it. They were very responsive on the service call. It was under warranty and they showed up as soon as they could and got it fixed. They detailed what they did and we signed it. They didn’t charge any money to come out.
Description of Work: We used Air Systems for some A/C work. They replaced our apartment air conditioning system.

Had a problem where A/C was not blowing cold air. Company called me back to make sure it wasn't a simple fix I could do myself before dispatching a tech. When it turned out to not be something I could resolve over the phone with their assistance they dispatched a tech that same day. Tech diagnosed that there was a problem with the disconnect which led to damage to the compressor. They contacted the manufacturer and determined the compressor was still under warranty. They came out a few days later and replaced both the disconnect and the compressor. Both the tech and the owner of the company were very courteous. They took me step by step through the sequence of events that led to my compressors demise, making sure I understood every step of the way. Will definitely use them for any future heating and A/C needs.

We were very impressed. The service was excellent but we didn't actually use them because the price was too high. We would use them again for a service call but we wouldn't use them for the central air because of the price.
Description of Work: We used Air Systems to do an assessment because we needed a new air and heat.
