AIR SYSTEMS A/C, HEATING AND REFRIGERATION

This is the company we use for ongoing maintenance of our two heat pump systems. We know them to be honest, punctual, technically knowledgable, thorough and respectful. We were confident in contracting with them to replace our old, inefficient heat pump system. Carlos, and technicians, Mark, and Rick, arrived as scheduled, and began removing the old system components. They upgraded many of the electrical and insulation components, and replaced the condenser, air handlers and thermostat. The new system was installed and checked out by mid-afternoon. All of the old components were hauled off and they left work areas neat and clean. We highly recommend this company.

Called at 7:45 AM. Was told the earliest they could get someone would be between 3 and 7. (4 hour window?) The technician would call on his way. Ruben called at 2:40, and said he was about 30 minutes away. He showed up about 35 minutes later. Explained that yesterday the unit froze over. I replaced the dirty air filter and let the system thaw overnight. I tried to turn it on this morning, and the system wouldn't turn on. We had the drain line cleared last year so I went and checked it. Sure enough, it was clogged. I removed the float and the system turned on. It still wasn't blowing cold air. Told Ruben I was pretty sure I needed the drain line purged, and freon added. Turned on the system, and the outside unit didn't start. Told him to check the float. He did, and it was clogged. He grabbed the nitrogen and purged the line. The system outside now turned on. He then went to check freon levels. He said it was a little low. He estimated it wouldn't take more than 2 lbs of freon. He went over pricing at this point. I agreed to his prices. He added two lbs of freon then came back inside to make sure I was OK with him adding another lb since it was still low. He did. Total price seemed VERY high! 3 lbs of freon at $30/lb= $90 The 5 seconds of nitrogen to clean the line= $30 (what????) Diagnostic alone was $65 even though I told him the problems To clean the drain line = $136. $136 to unscrew three turns, pull out the float, wipe with my towel that he turned black, and screw back in. Then add the $30 nitrogen. Charge with freon= $75. Also had a "travel charge" of $10. I live in San Antonio, 12 miles away from their business. I won't be using them again. Way too expensive! I had someone come and clean my drain line last year, and paid less than $100 total with a freon check.

Ruben came out and explained everything to me. Turns out it was just clogged line that was shutting down the system, by tripping a safety switch. He cleared the lines, checked my fan and compressor. He was extremely knowledgeable, courteous and kind. He explained the importance of getting my system checked at least once a year...I had not done any checks or maintenance in over 5 years! Due to these folks and how they were with me - not to mention a fair price, I will be calling them again for preventive maintenance and especially if I need emergency service. So happy there are still professionals out there!

Outside A/C condenser was buzzing and would not start. Called Air Systems based on Angie's List reviews around 10:00am. they said they had a full schedule, but would send someone out. I confirmed it would be the same day and they said yes. I told them I needed 30 minutes warning to get home in time. Got a call at 1:45 from David that he would be there in about an hour. David arrived just before 3:00. Introduced himself and got to work. He quickly identified a shorted capacitor and quoted me the price - I agreed and was up and running in no time. He then warned me that the fan likely had suffered some stress due to the blown capacitor and it could last 2 years or 2 days. However, since it was running, he didn't recommend replacement. He pointed out a relay that was borderline, but I declined on replacing. No hard sell on either. I went inside and expected he would prepare a bill. Instead, after a few minutes I heard water running and I went outside. He had gotten his hose and was cleaning the condenser coils/fins, which were overdue for a cleaning. He then asked where the condensate line ran (guest bathroom drain) and he wanted to make sure it was draining properly. He filled the sink and it drained *very* slowly. Was potential for water backup in the condensate line. Never noticed because we rarely use that bath and I use pan tabs regularly. I plunged that and it ran smoothly. He ran a pitcher of water down the line and all was well. He then asked me to turn off the blower fan and examined that - no issues. I was happy with the service of the actual repair, but what put David's service over the top was his additional cleaning/inspection of the whole system. Hope I don't need them soon, but I will be calling Air Systems if I have an issue.

I know parts can go bad, but it is nice to find a company that will be honest and tell you when everything checks out okay that everything is okay. The technician who serviced my A/C unit was Rick. He arrived on time and was courteous and respectful - and knew what he was doing. He went over the items that he checked out and wrote them on the receipt. I give Air Systems an A Plus all the way around - and put them in my phone so I can easily call them for the Fall check up. Great service!!

The provider came as scheduled and performed the A/C check. We were very happy with the service provided. We asked the technician if they would contact us in October for a furnace check. We were told that they would, however, we never heard from them. The following spring, we were looking to replace our A/C and furnace and contacted Air Systems. They sent us information via e-mail but no prices were included. Again, no follow up by Air Systems. Consequently, we used a different provider. Very disappointed because we did like their knowledge of A/C systems.

Air conditioning stopped blowing cool air on Thursday. Called Air Systems at 7:15am next morning, they scheduled me same day. Tech's name was Ruben, he called 20 minutes prior to arriving at midday. Very professional, went about diagnosing system in a deliberate manner communicating with me at each step. Evaporator was full of ice, he carefully removed it as it melted and ensured the area was wiped down as he reassembled the evaporator casing. Told me he expected a freon leak was the issue, he would check levels and recharge as necessary. He thought the system would likely cool once recharged and might hold for several months or more, and anticipated they could replace the evaporator in about a week. He said once he was certain of the diagnosis he could put together some options for me. When he checked freon levels outside everything was up to spec, he talked me through the tests he was doing and the indications on the gauges and said they were all where they should be. Back inside system was blowing cool air. Ruben checked air temperature at vents to ensure proper cooling. He asked me some questions about filter maintenance and I told him I had changed the filter the day prior when the temperature began to rise in the house and that it was extremely dirty with visible pet hair. Although Ruben prepared me for a possible evaporator replacement, he explained that the filter was likely restricting airflow causing the icing and lack of cooling. He recommended replacing the filter every 30 days to avoid the issue in the future. When my heating or AC needs maintenance in the future Air Systems has got my business. Their same day service (esp in July in South TX), professionalism and particularly Ruben's courteous, thorough and professional work is exactly what any homeowner wants from a contractor. I was preparing myself for the cost of replacing an evaporator, instead I'm not replacing something that isn't broken and will keep up with filter replacement on a monthly basis.

The technician, Rick, was very friendly, efficient and quickly found out our evaporator coil was leaking on the smaller unit. He answered all my questions and the General Manager, Carlos, provided us with very competitive quotes (4 options) on a replacement Trane Air Conditioner.

They were polite and efficient! The service went really well! They took the time to explain things really clearly. I would recommend them.

Ruben arrived around 9am and other than taking an hour for lunch, remained working at the house until 6:30pm. He had to leave once to retrieve parts so that the unit would be repaired the same day. I can't say enough about how professional and incredibly nice it is to work with Ruben. He explained in great detail everything that needed to be done before he did it. He took detailed photographs of the system in the attic so I wouldn't have to go up myself. When I showed him a condensation leak that we had been dealing with for years he immediately knew what needed to be done and he fixed it. I've had other AC technicians see the same problem and never offer a solution. Although he had to be in and out of the house often, he never once entered my home without putting protective slippers over his shoes. Truly great experience.

Compressor would come on, but the blower fan would not start. I was afraid that the blower motor had gone out. It is an old unit. When I called early in the morning, the lady answered promptly, took my information, and said that a repairman would be out early afternoon. After 3 pm rolled around, I called back because no repairman had arrived. The lady said that repairs were taking longer than expected and that I was next, and the repairman should arrive shortly, which he did. The repairman found that the capacitor which starts the motor had burned out. He replaced the capacitor and the unit worked well after that. The repairman (David, who was friendly, professional, and explained the process well) then checked out the remainder of my system in great detail, explained some minor issues, cleaned the condenser/fan unit, etc.

Both the guy installing and the boss Carlos were extremely professional and friendly. They Showed up as promised and left the house in great condition. The unit that we had purchased was no longer available and they upgraded us to the next best one for no additional cost. We highly recommend this company. They had the best pricing from a few quotes that we had gotten.

It all went very well. No complaints; all compliments.

Check up went well. They actually flushed the discharge pipe for the HVAC system which is the first provider I have seen do this effectively. They found a bad capacitor which I confirmed was actually bad and had been causing electrical spikes that flickered the lights. They did leave a tripped breaker tripped after I told them that I would have the installer come back out to replace the capacitor.

They came out, check out the heater and were very honest about what was happening. They told us it just needed to be turned off for a little while and we had no problems after that. They only charged us $70 when they could have told us we need $500 worth of repairs but they didn't. I would use them again.

Would use them again for sure. They provided a detailed on line quote quickly after the initial phone inquiry, and without even coming to the house. Because of the excellent reviews, that tipped the scales in their favor. Quick and efficient and pleasant to work with.

Canceled the appointment because issue was covered by home warranty. The contact I did have with them were very professional.

Rueben arrived on time and went right to work. He cleared the line in a short time and changed out some pvc fittings.He was very professional, courteous. and knowlegable He took the time to answer my questions .I would highly recommend this company and will call them again for any future problems.

Went excellently. A very cordial and professional technician named Ruben called to tell us he was on the way then arrived within 15 minutes. He performed the service quickly, including removing a snake from the outside unit. He informed me the A/C was in good condition and answered a few questions I had about future maintenance. I will recommend them to my friends.

Prior to hiring Air Systems we interviewed 4 other companies with high ratings before making a choice. Prices were all similar but this company showed that they had a deeper knowledge of HVAC systems as well having a better understanding of the mechanics of cooling and heating a home.. Carlos came first and assessed our needs, he then had a Manual J calculation performed to make sure that we were getting the proper size unit and also inspected our ducts. He then provided us with a written report of the results of the Manual J survey and also provided us with several written options along with the available accessories and prices which allowed us to make a more intelligent decision that met our personal needs as well as our budget. He answered all of our questions and was very professional. On the day of installation the workers Rick and Mark arrived on time at 7 am and left at 7pm taking only a minimal break. They covered our floors went about their work in a very methodical and professional way at the end of the day they cleaned and swept the area. Carols came and inspected the work and took care of submitting all of our equipment registrations as well as our CPS rebate. We were very pleased with their work and professional manner which made us feel very comfortable with their presence in our home. We would highly recommend this company and will continue to use them as our HVAC company of choice.

Outstanding work, knowledgeable tech who educated us throughout the process, didn't try to sell us anything we didn't need, made recommendations, and overall was a trustworthy and reliable service. Will do service with this company in the future.

All work was performed just as promised and completed in one day. The new system is considerably larger than my old one, indoor unit was installed in a closet that required working in tight quarters. They did an excellent job in making it fit and showing me how to maintain it. They answered all my questions about most efficient use of the thermostat and I am confident they will be available for any future questions. Air Systems filed the necessary CPS rebate forms for me. They were very professional and I highly recommend this team.

Carlos (Air System supervisor), made an inspection of our existing system and gave me a free estimate as I requested. When I accepted his estimate he quickly set up a time for the work. Unfortunately, the heavy rains during May delayed the installation. Carlos promptly called and explained the weather problem and set up and other date. On the date scheduled or the installation the Air Systems crew showed up early and went right to work.. They were very professional and did a fine job of keeping the work area clear and clean. This was an all day effort as expected. The work crew was finished by 6PM. A day or so later Carlos stopped by to inspect the work and receive payment. We were both pleased. I would easily recommend Air Systems for AC and heating work.

We actually had them come out for the annual check up on the 2 units. This was supposed to a special cost but still came out to $118.00 for the service and 275.00 for repair charges they said they did. I still have not received my invoice or any warranty info on the work they did. Office staff was rude. Had to reschedule the first time because they did not show up on time after AI took the afternoon off work.

Their bid was very competitive and when I met with Carlos to inspect my old system and review replacement options he was very knowledgeable and didn't try to sell me one of the more expensive systems that I didn't need. Installation went very smoothly. The techs arrived on time, were friendly, and careful. After the system was installed they also balanced the air flow from my vents. They finished up with a demo of the thermostat functions and a review of the user manual and warranty info. The even handled the paperwork for the warranty and the CPS rebate. Overall very satisfied with the Trane system and Air Systems.
