Description of Work: I purchased a package for Air Systems to come out in the fall to check the heating system and come out in the spring to check the air conditioning system. I've done this for the past 2 or 3 years. The service men who come out to my house are always on time. They answer all my questions. They explain any issues they find and provide details of the work and price for me to review and approve.

Description of Work: IN AUG 2010 NURSED OUT AC THROUGH THE HEAT. IN DEC 2010 THEY INSTALLED AN ENTIRELY NEW SYSTEM WHICH HAS PERFORMED VERY WELL SINCE THEN AND THEY DO TWICE YEARLY MAINTENENCE.

Description of Work: I don't really really remember the cost, it wasn't cheap but they did a great job. AC and heater bills are down substantially, and it is much quieter. CPS also provided a sizable rebate, which Air Systems helped out with. | |My AC went out. Luckily it was November and not an emergency. | |A repairman came out and showed me leaks in the compressor and lines in my AC, which was at least 10 years old. After investigating repair costs, they recommended a new AC/heater unit. |Another man came out, surveyed the property to determine the proper sized unit, and recommended a Trane. |I did a little research. My understanding is most AC's are similar, but Trane is very particular about having a high quality installation. Air Systems was very good. They rebuilt part of the AC closet, worked to fit the unit in a tight space, added in some emergency shutoff equipment and provided a digital thermostat. The price was exactly as quoted. | |They explained how to work the system and advised me on how to keep the lines clear.

Description of Work: I joined Angie's List for the express purpose of selecting an HVAC service company. Air Systems A/C had a 94% "A" rating with well over 300 testimonials. Pretty impressive so I decided to toss the dice. When I explained to the owner that we were on a fixed income and that I was leery of high priced shoddy work, he volunteered to accompany his technician for an assessment. I was very happy to hear that, he went above and beyond in that regard. |We have a 5 ton unit that is ten years old that was missing approx. 6 lbs. of refrigerant. He recommended a can of "stop leak" as a potential fix in addition to the refrigerant. The cost of the gas was $57 per pound. They charged me $124 for a single can of "stop leak" and $204 for 2hrs. of labor and $10 for "fuel". I looked up "stop leak" on the internet and found that it was being sold for retail prices of $50. So, I paid a 150% markup on the "stop leak". $100/hr. of labor seemed rather excessive for the actual "work" involved (taking pressure readings and attaching hoses)and the $10 for "fuel" (their vehicle gasoline fee) seemed insulting as I believe that that it should be their cost of doing business. Luckily, I used the coupon they offered through Angie's List that effectively waived the "diagnostic" fee of $68. |After paying the total bill after tax of $718 the whole experience left me feeling like I had been taken to the cleaners. Because there are regulatory laws pertaining to the handling of refrigerant, which are understandable, the end user has little recourse and the HVAC service companies leverage that fact unduly in my opinion. What a drag. C'est la vie!

Description of Work: We have used Air Systems on two occasions. We have been very satisfied with their service, professionalism and honesty. I have used another company in the past but decided to get a second opinion from Air Systems when the orignal company spent 5 minutes looking at the unit and told me I needed to replace both AC units as well as both furnace systems $17K. Air Systems came in on a Sunday and diagnosed the issue and fixed it for less than $300. I will continue to use Air Systems for all my AC & heating needs.
