This exterior paint job was a total flop! I am so disgusted at the exterior painters that were sent. The caulking was not all done, the wood rot was not all replaced, and the paint was totally blotched up. The painter, Junior(Ronald Beckingham Jr.), had all these missing areas that he just didn't paint and knew he didn't paint and everytime I brought up paint issues he kept saying "oh yeah I know I am going to get that", but never did. He had some guy out here painting with him with no painting experience and had paint all over my shingles and still there till this day. Junior has totally burned my grass up in the front and back yard from using paint thinner to clean his brushes and buckets in my green grass. I AM MORTIFIED. The need to do something about greening my grass back. I have huge patches of dead grass because he was using paint thinner on my grass. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!. Then Junior's dad came out to help him after I called Michael the owner and told him that my house is a complete fotch up and there is only one person doing the painting and he is not painting all areas. He had to come back and power wash my driveway after putting lacquer thinner on my concrete leaving white and smeared spots all over my sidewalks and patio. He would never use drop cloths causing paint drippings everywhere all over my property. He left paint spots on my windows and all. Then his dad said he was getting all the missing spots and didn't do anything that I could tell. I had so many missing areas that were not done and the killer is that they both left my house without warning and for me to look over the job which had taken well into 3 weeks and didn't even tell me to come check the details. I WAS HOT! I called them and he said they were done. I want to attach all the blotchy pictures of the paint job. He did not paint my door facings, many areas were missed with paint, no paint over the garage, and fascia board was not painted and then he knew that he did not paint my chimney properly and said he could reach there because of his hernia, well then how can you say you are done when you knew all these areas were not done. I was livid to say the least. Michael finally sent out the guy that painted my inside (Clemente) and got him to do the work and he got most of the issues done, but I did still notice some missing areas that Junior still did not do after Clemente was done, but I overlooked before letting him go. Clemente helped out and got on top of my house to paint my chimney for me. He could definitely see that I had cause to complain about this BOTCHED UP job that Junior had done. I guarantee I will not be using ACL painting EVER again for my painting needs. If anything I would request ONLY Clemente to do the work. I am one unhappy customer! I am looking for an area where they will allow me to upload pics for all to see! I asked Michael a few times that he needed to come out here and investigate the work, but that was never done. I would give at least a "D" for the overall score but with so much irresponsibility and damage to my house and yard on this exterior paint job is an "F".
Description of Work: The provider was supposed have painted my exterior, replaced wood root and caulking before painting. There was no inspection of the property by the owner for my legitimate complaints.

Prepped, removed window blinds, patched small holes and painted the walls of 2 interior bedrooms. I provided the paint, which was a premium interior satin paint w/ primer. Painters did a great job, no spillage, and they cleaned up very well. Very pleased with their job.

Our place looks amazing. Specifically, I want to thank Ron our foreman for his tedious work in making sure our edges were painted in a straight line even though there is heavy texture, and also for his attention to detail on painting our dark blue trim in a straight line in accordance with the heavy texture and some 10-foot rock walls which were a pain in the butt to paint. The other workers who came to work on the project were all very nice. They made us feel comfortable when pointing out where we thought corrections could be made and they promptly addressed any specific requests. The only things I was surprised about was we didn't really hear from Michael, the owner's son and company manager, to get a follow-up on how the work went. We ended up dealing directly with Ron. I would think Michael would have made sure to ask if everything went well after it was finished. I do understand his father as well as daughter have had some major medical issues this past year, so I attributed the lack of communication to that. Also, it took two weeks instead of one which was quoted, presumably because only the foreman was skilled enough to work with the edges of the home with the heavy texture, but this was not communicated to us when one person started showing up each day instead of two. Last, we were asked to pay half the cost of the job after week one ended in order to pay the workers. My husband was uncomfortable so we declined and followed the contract which says payment received after full work is done. I think it's understandable they might request this, but if that is so they should update their contract to reflect this request. Speaking of the contract, I think their Angie's List deal should also be updated, to read: Covers two full coats unless heavy texture then an additional charge will be applied. Because they charged us extra for a second coat (which we had to do with most rooms) but it was advertised as covering two coats in the deal. Again, I understand needing to charge extra for a second coat especially on a heavily-textured wall, but please disclose this so as there are no surprises. Overall, they were friendly, courteous, and I believe we got a good deal on our price for the work done. They also offer to come back and do touch-ups if you find something that needs correction after they've been paid. I took advantage of this and it was a well-received gesture. I am very happy with the end result and they were overall pleasant to work with. I understand they are very busy and I think they manage this as best they can.
Description of Work: Painted entire interior walls of our 1934 home with heavy texture, including some trim and most ceilings. Also painted a rock room and fireplace which were not easy to paint.

Wish I could give 2 reviews. First review for Michael deserves a "C" After 2 weeks and a second e-mail, I was able to get in touch with Michael to schedule a look at the project. I gave an OK to start and this got rescheduled a time or two before he got to begin. At the finish of the project he asked for a few more dollars than agreed upon for some addittional screwing and nailing of some of the siding. I did pay this to respect the guys doing the work, however, I would simply liked to know about this before we were done with the project. Second review for the Painters deserve an "A+" Ron and Ron Jr, were fantastic. They called and kept me aware of the progress daily. They did a double coat on the house and made some wonderful decisions on how to match the trim with some of the posts. They made good decisions on the fine tuning to really make the house pop. Final paint job looks great! They kept it clean and picked up after themselves. Thanks Guys!

After purchasing, waited a few weeks then saw company was getting negative reviews for scheduling issues. Scheduling is a big issue for me so I expressed this concern to the owner. They scheduled to come out and preview the room, but ended up canceling just a few hours before. Owner was very polite about it, but I felt this would be too challenging.

HI, I sent you an estimate that showed everything. I'm very surprised you got a refund. You said you wanted some beams in the ceiling removed, and some popcorn removed as well. It was not just trim and wallpaper. I included everything. I thought we had a good meeting as well, I'm very taken back that you would mention "attitude". I'm sorry you didn't get the estimate and I'm sorry I missed out on some work. I'm looking at my notes now and you said you did not want to do anything till October, so I assumed you were waiting.

Purchased Big Deal 7/13/13. ACL Painting was at neighbor's house. Mike Ramirez provided surface area estimate of 1400 sq. feet. Since within terms of coupon, emailed to arrange painting. Was to begin on 23 Sept. On 19 Sept, Mr. Ramirez emailed and called saying that house was much more square footage and he could only do job for $1400. He never said how much more square footage. During phone conversation I explained that coupon was for up to 1,600 square feet, two-story and he still stated that he could not do the painting for the coupon. And he said he'd have to power wash house first, and that wasn't covered in coupon. I thought that fell under normal level of prep work but he was going to charge an additional $500? He said he could not honor the coupon and when I suggested he shouldn't have offered the coupon he stated he would pull the offer from Angie's List. Not happy with results from first Big Deal. However, the assistance from Angie's List was very helpful.

Hello (Member name removed), It was nice to meet you. I'm sorry about our miscommunication. When I first went by I "verbally" qouted you around 1400 sqft.. I gave you a price of $1400 based on the amount of labor I thought was needed and the pressure washing. Then you called me and said you had purchased a big deal and you expected me to do your house for that price. If you had come to me with the BIg Deal first, I would have come to you with the additional $500.00 from the beginning because your house is not fully covered by the big deal offer. If I would have thought from the beginning that your house qualified for that deal, I would have mentioned it to you. Again, I apologize and I wish you the best. I am sad that you rate me all F's, I thought we had a pleasant meeting at the beginning.

ACL painting did not contact me to schedule the painting, so after a week I called them to do so. When I spoke with the owner, he informed me the job would be one coat only, extra $$ for more coats, and extra $$ to paint the ceiling. I expected two coats from what the ad said.

Paul was very neat and definitely had a lot of experience painting. I am sure he could have done it in his sleep---but for the fact that the ladder was so high up! Paul was very friendly and trustworthy so that we felt comfortable leaving him alone in the house when we could not be there. We would hire this company again.
Description of Work: The upstairs bathroom, hallway, and game room were painted. The downstairs entry way, bar area, and living room were painted. Also all the wall space underneath and above our staircase. We have very high ceilings so the wall areas around them had not been touched in 10 years. Paul did a great job of getting to these areas.

The painters (2) arrived about 15 mins early. They brought in all their supplies, closed the door, and got right to work. They worked independently all day painting two bedrooms, with only an occasional question. At the end of the day, they cleaned up after themselves, and left. No problems. The rooms look great. The painters were courteous and professional. The owner called right after they left to be sure we were satisfied with the job done. We plan to use them in the future.

He did a pretty good job painting the room except for the trim. The door was not painted all the way to the floor. I think he was having a hard time painting low areas. He got the wall paint on the trim and claimed it was a reflection. After looking very closely, I could see it was no reflection. It was paint showing through on the baseboards. He was fast as he painted the whole room and trim in 5 hrs. However, fast is not always better. I spent the next day touching up the room. He was not able to put the furniture back by himself as it was too heavy. I am waiting on my son and son-in-law to move it back. Therefore, I cannot use my bedroom.

MULTIPLE requests were made for the ?owner? Michael Jr. to come out and assess damages. Yet, over the course of two weeks he never showed. Damages sustained & pictures are available: 1) Cost to replace, remove and reinstall 3 ceiling fans due to oil paint that cannot be removed, fans left on while spraying. 2) Window a/c?s with paint on housing, filters and cords stained from paint. Also, faceplate to window a/c tab broken off when they Attempted to clean the filter. 3) Washer housing of new, stacked washer/dryer bent out and would not latch from pulling from the drum & side scratched. 4)Hardwood floors to be professionally cleaned due to paint and hazing/dulling from attempted cleaning with paint remover. 5) Painting overspray in back room and repaint of trim being painted the wrong color. 6) Labor of cleaning. 7) After 2 crews of clean up there were still areas marked with tape that was not cleaned and even more paint was discovered. This is not to mention the time lost for rental and headaches endured. It took over 2 weeks and 2 paint crews to paint a 1000 square foot duplex. 1) Request that the actual painter that is going to paint be present and get a Detailed bid with measurements and who is expected to pay for what. Things that normally are covered i.e.: paper, tape and paint thinner ACL did not cover. 2) As mentioned in other reviews WATCH, WATCH, WATCH the supplies YOU have purchased and get a second opinion on what needs to be purchased so that you do not over buy. Michael Ramirez Jr. came to my home alone to bid on a painting job, he requested that I not buy the Angie?s List Deal that was advertised and said he would provide the same discount. I explained in detail my expectations of prep work, that I did not tolerate paint runs, the importance of protecting our newly refinished hardwood floors and that we had grout and tile work lined up in the bathroom so that room would need to be completed first. Michael reassured me that none of these things were an issue. He did not measure and the description of work to be done was very short on the bid. I contacted him to clarify and update the contract on doors and once again to see about the possibility of completing some drywall work, the calls seemed to annoy him. Ron Sr. arrived midday Thursday to begin prep work and was completely unaware of what the bid entailed so I provided a copy. I reviewed the items I had discussed with Michael and stressed the importance of completing the bathroom first so that the other work could be done. Ron sent me to purchase paint and paper. He then told me I ?could? pay him $20 for the tape that he had purchased yet he was not able to provide a receipt when asked for one. We had caulk left over from a previous job and I offer to provide it, Ron informed me that he had plenty of caulk left over from another job. Ron asked if they could work on Saturday. On Sunday evening (2 ½ days into the job) Michael called and requested an early draw of $600 since ACL had worked on Saturday, which we declined. We never heard from Michael again until we canceled the check. Monday no one from ACL had shown by 11am so I sent an email to Michael, which he never responded to. I checked in on the progress often and reminded Ron repeatedly that the bathroom needed to be finished first. The evening before the grout workers were to show I went over to clean up the bathroom and was horrified to discover globs of caulk and paint in the toilet and sink where in they had been used to wash out paint and caulking. The walls were so heavy in paint that there were multiple runs that had to be removed with a rag. Sink, lights and mirrors had not been taped off and they had paint on them. The granite countertops were not covered and treated as a worktable. My husband contacted Ron Sr. while I called to postpone the other work that was lined up. After this Ron attempted to regain our faith by offering to stain our fence with someone?s ?leftover red stain for a really good price." During the course of work being done we had two different workmen come in and both times Ron Sr. instructed them not to do the finish out saying he would do that work for them, which he did not do. I was told that they were going to spray our trim and walls and though I mentioned my hesitancy to this more than once. Once it was done and they were packed up the house was left dirtier than usual but I was very ready to move on. The next day I went in to clean up and that is when we discovered the extent of the carnage. The list is too long to list all of paint that needed to be cleaned, however it did include excessive over spray on the ceilings and wood floor, new appliances not covered, new door hardware with paint inside of the latch, areas painted the wrong color and multiple areas just missed. The check was canceled and Ron Sr. was contacted then Michael resurfaced. After he insisted multiple times that Ron should come back he finally understood that since we had already had a mishap with Ron that he would not be allowed to come back under any circumstance. A second set of painters were then sent in to clean up. After another week and several dramatic personal emails from Michael we were told that the painters had to leave. See above for items left undone and workers had to be told to bring back in materials that we had purchased. We settled out on what damages we had noted at that time, the washer had not been discovered yet and that was another service call. This was far from a ?deal? with the time wasted, cost of damages, repairs/redo?s and over bought paint and supplies this exceeded even a fair price. To think that after all of this an ACL worker (Jodi) had the gall to yell at me across the street in my neighborhood that we had cheated them out of money.

Hello (removed member name), I know you were pleased with the final product of work. I'm sad you failed to mention many things that I tried to do in order to make this deal work. And when you say 1000 sqft house, please mention in the review that we painted every square inch of that house: wood, ceilings, doors, closets, cabinets etc. You also are failing to mention that the reason I never physically showed up was because my daughter was having a serious operation and I always made myself available to you by email or phone. My daughter has been in and out of the hospital ever since she was born and I'm sorry that your "job" came at a time when I was not able to be there for you on a daily basis BUT I ALWAYS MADE SURE YOU WERE TAKEN CARE OF AND I CONTINUED TO WORK WITH YOU EVEN THOUGH YOU HAD NO EMPATHY FOR MY PERSONAL SITUATION. We never stopped working on your home. And furthermore I am shocked that you would say you over paid. Even if you had paid $2300.00 (which you only paid $1300.00), that price of $2300.00 was great for a FULL interior paint job which included every square inch of your house. I wish you the best in the future, but it is obvious to me you left out many details in your review that definitely put this job in a different light for our members.

The painter was on time, came with 1 other worker. He started to paint and after a few minutes told me he would need to do a second coat and he would need another $20. He also said he would need to buy another gallon of the paint. It's a small room he painted and didn't need another gallon but I was rushing out the door (which he knew since I explained I had things to do) so I didn't question it. I gave him $30 for another gallon plus I threw in $5 for gas money-my fault for being a nice guy. I got home that evening and the job was done nicely, only a couple of paint drips on the baseboard, but I only found the one empty can of paint. Clearly he charged me the $30 plus the $20 which shouldn't have been added to the deal price. My overall impression is that he is a capable painter but a crook at heart. If he hadn't ripped me off for $50 he would have had a solid B rating from me.

Hello (member name removed) , Im happy you were happy with your paint job. I can understand how you got the impression we did not use the other can. My painter took because we clean cans out to use them on other jobs. If you would have told him that you wanted it, he would have left it for you. In the future we will ask other customers if we can have their empty paint cans. I can assure you though that your room received two coats.

Purchased a "deal" online. Received a call from contractor to schedule site visit. Contractor did not arrive at specified time, called at meeting time to inform would be late. Received quote, but work was scheduled out many weeks due to their busy schedule. Contractor was not proactive about contacting to confirm schedule and determine quantity of paint he estimated was needed. (We purchased and provided paint and caulk.) When I called to confirm they would start on Monday, was told that there was an issue and that it would be Tuesday or Wednesday before they could start. On Tuesday, mid-morning, when I had not heard from contractor I called and was informed that they would not be able to start until Wednesday. After I expressed my displeasure at his lack of communication, he stated that he would refund my money and that I should find another contractor. I advised that we had an agreement to do the work and he had already been prepaid for the bulk of the project "the deal" I'd purchased. We agreed he would still do the project and he called me back later and agreed to have a painting crew onsite Wednesday morning. The crew did not arrive on time, and the crew was "one" person. The work crew that A C L Painting hired to complete the project at my home did an a good job. There were a few overspray issues, but when pointed out, he took care of cleaning those areas. He was courteous and tidy with the equipment and supplies. Although the scheduling process of getting all siding and trim painted at my home was disappointing, I am pleased with the quality workmanship.

It took a while to get the appointment set. He finally emailed me and gave me some dates for possible appointments. I finally emailed him back saying that the dates he proposed weren’t perfect for me. Everything was going okay for a while but when I called him and told him my address, he told me he would have to charge me 100 dollars to come out to my area. I ended up calling Angie’s List for an alternative provider.
Description of Work: I bought a Big Deal for 99 dollars for one room of interior painting.

Hi [member name removed], It was nice talking to you on the phone. You seemed very understanding when we talked. Your review leads me to believe you are more than disappointed. I'm sorry I could not help you, but you are about 30 min. out of our zone. When you offered to pay more, I quoted you a $100.00 based on the time it would take to get out there and give your room two coats. At the time I even told you I was reluctant to charge you more. The deals I put out for the rooms to help garner me business and we aim to do quality work, but the amount we charge does not even fully cover labor. It is a deal for our customers indeed. You were just too far out and I was only being honest. I hope you got the work completed.

They said they're going to send me a proposal but they have not replied to me yet. He doesn't seem to be professional and has poor follow up. I haven't got anything from them yet like the price.
Description of Work: I used the Big Deal of ACL Painting. They gave us a quote for their exterior painting service.
