Overall it was less stressful than I imagined. There were a few hickups, I was short 8 gallons of paint so I made two additional trips to the paint store. . I learned that contractors are on their time, not yours when it comes to lunches, etc., which is o.k. because they did an excellent job and finished when promised. I took them to lunch one day and we had a nice visit. Ron had me go around the house and mark anything that needed touchups. They fixed them before leaving. Painting the interior is much more difficult with a lot of furniture and they tried to be very careful by covering everything. However, I am still cleaning the laminate floors that had alittle splatters here and there. The house is beautiful and I am so pleased with the overall job that Ron and Filipe did. I have two house cats and they always closed the door so there was no escape.
Description of Work: ACL Painting painted the interior of my home with the exception of the kitchen and utility room. The estimate,$ 2600.00 included putting chair railing in the dining room. Ron and Filipe are professional painters with many years of experience. Ron also put up the chair railing. They painted the ceilings, crown molding, floor molding as well as all the walls and fireplace and did an excellent job. The job was finished in five days as promised. I paid about $ 1000.00 for the Sherwin Williams paint and the chair moulding as well as new electrical covers which replaced the old ones.

From start to finish I was impressed with the communication. I always knew what was going on at my home. The team sent out to paint my home was friendly and professional. I was pleased with the amount of care and pride they took in their work. I would recommend this company to anyone looking for painter! Fantastic work done by fantastic people.
Description of Work: My home needed exterior paint badly after a horrible job by another painter. I purchase one of the deals here on Angie's List and got a quick response from ACL. They came out and assessed my home's condition and scheduled a time to have the house painted. The work was quick, clean, and professional.

The experience, service, cost, and quality of work were excellent and I would highly recommend them to anyone having wallpaper removed or painting done. Michael said they had an opening in their schedule and would send Paul over right away to do the estimate. Paul gave a quote and started the job the very next morning. Paul did the whole job from start to finish, we provided some of the supplies/products. House is located in Terrell Hills, built 1949. We would defintely use them again for any painting job big or small. Thank you Paul, my Mom was super impressed by your work ethic and integrity. We may be calling you back to paint the bathroom once we figure out the vanity replacement.

I called to take advantage of a "big deal" special, $899 for the whole exterior. The owner was alittle slow to get back to me but when he did, he was very polite and professional. He said he could do the house for $1000, and I agreed to that price. Two painters were supposed to show up but only one did, which I was disappointed about. However, the one who came-Paul- was EXCELLENT!! He worked 12-13 hours a day and finished in three days. He was punctual, polite and professional, but the best part was that he was a perfectionist! Everything he painted looked fantastic! He didn't miss any spots, he did drip or spill anywhere, he did thorough prep work and he took his time to really cover the wood on our older home. He was the absolute best painter I have ever hired, and I have been a homeowner for 40 years.

ACL recently painted the downstairs od our house. We could not be more pleased. They were very professional and responsive and they worked us into their schedule quickly. We had a large area to be painted and our painter worked hard to get it done in one day. He took arrived early, took a quick break to grab a bite for dinner and then came back and worked until 9:00 to get the job done that day. In addition the paint job is excellent and the price was great! We will absolutely use them again

The job went very well. I talked to the owner and he looked at the work that had to be done. They scraped the wood and prepared it very well and then put at least two coats of paint on it. I was very happy with it. The owners willingness to meet with me, talk to me and make adjustments along the way was good.

Based on positive reviews on Angie's list called Mike Ramirez for interior painting project. Mike set an appointment with me to review work to be accomplished and also gave me an estimate of paint necessary for the project. A quote was given and I purchased all paint and had available for the commencement of job. A C L provided all tarps, coverings, caulk necessary. Painters (Junior and Rudy) came on time and prepared for job. I found them to be respectful of my home and property and exceptional in quality of work performed. Comment made by them was that the job wasn't done until I was satisfied. There was not one issue that I found less than perfect!
Description of Work: Had interior of most of the house painted. Used an accent wall in some and supurb workmanship. The company painter's used were Junior and Rudy. Exceptional workmanship, respect for property, and detail. I highly recommend the two painter's (Junior and Rudy) used in the project and will gladly contact them for future use. Mike (owner of company) available for quick quote.

We purchased the package deal for interior painting from ACL Painting. Within a few days the owner called to set an appointment. The owner of ACL, Mike, arrived on time and assessed our needs. The package we purchased did not include ceilings and additional square footage. We agreed on the price for the additional work and set a date for the job. Mike suggested the brand of paint and retailer where I could get a discount on the paint purchase. On the day of the project Mike and several of his employees arrived on time, did an excellent job of cleaning up afterward and asked me to check all the walls and ceilings to be sure the work was satisfactory.

We are extremely happy with the quality of the service we received. The job was done in a timely fashion and the contractors were professional and experienced. We contacted Michael (the owner) and was able to speak to him that day and set up a time for him to visit our home and give us an estimate. They started work on our house approximately 2 weeks after the estimate, which was agreed upon date by us. The job was supposed to take 10 days to complete. It ended up being about 14 days to total completion but that was due to rain/weather. As soon as weather permitted they were back and ready to work. The job went smooth and my family and I are very happy with the final result. It looks like a new home! We already have plans to use ACL in the future for our interior painting needs. And I would highly recommend this company to anyone in need of these types of services!!
Description of Work: We hired ACL to repaint the outside of our home. We were quoted $3480.00 and that is what we paid. This was for labor, we supplied paint and any other materials needed. We have a 2500 sq foot single story home that was built in the 50's and hadn't been painted since probably the early 80's. ACL painted our entire house and re-stained our 1200 sq foot deck. Services included power-washing the entire house and deck. Scraping, prepping and sanding around the entire home (huge undertaking) which included small repairs, they replaced several areas of damaged fascia boards, installed trim around 4 sets of sliding glass doors and installed a new exterior door in the front. They also primed and painted all wood surfaces (trim around windows and doors, small wooden façade in front of house and the eaves and fascia boards. The rest of the home is asbestos siding. They painted the entire home, including all trim, eaves and front door. They also stained our entire deck which is 1200 sq foot and a wrap around with railing and spindles.

We purchased a brand new home in Feb 2013 and I went on Angie's List to look for painters and we read the reviews and were pleased with ACL painting reviews. I purchased a coupon special for 699.00 that was originally a 1699.00 package . We have a very tall foyer that would been hard for us to paint. without some kind of scaffolding. Mike sent his crew to paint and the coupon covered the foyer that was very large and tall, the family room upstairs my master bed and bath the hall and the second bathroom and we painted the rest. Mike was pretty well booked up until the middle of March, but we closed on the house Feb 28 the and had to get several things done in the month we had to get out of the rental so he went ahead and moved his schedule around to accommodate our schedule for needing to get the painting done. He sent two people on his crew they arrived right on time at 9 a.m. they were wonderful and courteous. They asked if they could stay late until they got the job done to they finished up at about 7 p.m . The work they done was grade A painting it was really nice. Mike knew we was trying to save some money with the expense of moving in a new house and let us use his discount for the paint. We were very very satisfied will def use again and will recommend him highly. To friends and neighbors. Thank You Mike for going above and beyond the call of duty

About a week prior to the beginning of the work, Michael Jr., the proprietor's son, came to the house on 14 March to touch base with us about the job and to discuss our needs in about a fifteen-minute session. My feeling was that it was a bit of an imposition and we still had some things to decide upon (mostly the ceiling & trim issues), so we came to no conclusions in that meeting. After trying to agree upon an amenable second meeting for a few days, we finally settled on Saturday 23 March to iron out the details. When Michael Jr. arrived, we told him what we had decided upon as far as the sections of ceiling we wanted resurfaced and the extent of the trim painting we wanted done. Michael went to work plugging numbers into his smartphone to add up the total based upon the standard prices ACL charges to do the requested work. In hindsight, it was silly of me not to ask for a detailed copy of the charges Michael had plugged into his phone the day he quoted me $825 in addition to the $671 in the offer. I was to be sorry for not heeding the old "get it in writing" maxim. Also, I had imagined there would be some kind of measuring of wall space, but Michael was satisfied to eyeball it instead. When he left, he took with him all the details of the project with him in his smartphone without offering us a written account of the impending charges or even a confirmation email. As I say, I blame myself for not demanding these, but I also believe they should be standard issue for service work, particularly with totals in excess of $1k. When the painters arrived on their first day, 27 March, they seemed to be a little at a loss as to exactly what they were supposed to do and asked my wife what the details of the job were -- this was a first red flag. As she communicated our agreement to the best of her memory, the painters went straight away to treating the ceiling, as it would turn out to be by far the most labor intensive part of the project. At one point, one of the painters asked about a buckled portion of a wall adjoining the fireplace -- perhaps a six-foot section of deformed tape underneath from house-settling -- that I had forgotten to speak of with Michael, and he had not noticed in his estimate. My wife called me to ask if we had discussed it, and I said "just have them do it." I knew the tape-and-float job floor to ceiling joining two walls in the entire job would not be a big deal and would rightly be part of a well-done job in any case. The following day I received a text from Michael saying that he understood from his painters that I had "added on" the repair of the wrinkled tape underneath the old paint. Feeling that we may be entering "nickle & diming" territory, I sent a return text reminding the owner's son that we had not exactly been sticklers for square-footage stipulated in the original offer, or even the most basic business formalities (i.e. written estimates). He informed me he would do me the favor of throwing that in -- in spite of the fact that I added without his knowledge. My sense is that if he had been accompanied by one of the painters who do the actual work on a regular basis, the relatively trifling issue may never have become a thorn in my paw. On the third and final day of work (29 March), the painters got down to the oil-base trim-painting and were again confused by what was expected of them. They thought they were to fully paint the trim in the hallway in addition to the areas Michael and I had agreed upon. I had to tell them this was not part of the agreed upon areas. In addition, Michael and I were in disagreement as to whether both sides of doors were to be painted. It never occurred to me to only "face" a door, but this according to Michael was what I had agreed to. I could only grit my teeth as I realized that without written confirmation of our estimate-session, I didn't have much of a leg to stand on. Because of the confusion, Michael Jr., did agree to subtract $25.00 from the additional work of the doors and trim. In the end, my wife and I were unarguably happy with what we physically saw in our home and were uniformly impressed with the work done by Ruben Delgado and his "partner in paint". Both seemed to want only to do the job we wanted done without regard for the details hammered out in their absence. The work truly looks good to both my wife and I. If we had it to do over, we would simply have gone straight to the source and dealt with the men doing the work in the first place. The lack of communication and written details became an issue in this job, but this should in no way reflect on the quality of the work that ultimately resulted. If you decide to take advantage of this offer I would recommend a few obvious things you probably learned from your dad anyway: 1) Measure your square footage of wall space to know exactly what you have a right to have painted according to the offer. 2) If you plan to have additional work done, get the detailed estimate in writing. In fact, for supplemental work, you may even consider getting estimates from other contractors so you don't find yourself wondering if what you saved on the offer wasn't just made up on the supplemental work. We think we paid a fair price. 3) Make sure that at least one of the painters that will have hands-on-brushes is in attendance at the estimate. It will save you time, hassle, and aggravation when it comes down to who said what in regards to the project details and trips to the store for more paint. In sum, I am satisfied with the work done and with the price, but in general I would prefer to deal with the person doing the work rather than with a middle-man who may or may not fully communicate the details of the job to everyone involved.
Description of Work: We own a 1369 sq. ft. 3-bedroom, 2-bath, and wanted to have the adjoined living and dining areas painted, as well as the kitchen and our son's room. All of this, we were confident, would be covered under the 2000 sq. ft. of wall space covered in the offer. In addition, we decided that we wanted to have the old popcorn ceiling removed, re-textured, and painted, along with oil-based painting of the baseboards, door facings, and six doors in the aforementioned areas. This work has been done much to our satisfaction, and all-in-all we often feel like it was the jump start we needed to do some of the DIY projects we have been procrastinating for some time.

Response from ACL Painting
First and foremost, I would like to tell you how happy I am that your finished product came out great. That is what is most important. I am sorry for and I take full responsibilty for all the shortcomings listed in the above review, however I can truthfully say that I give a written estimate with every project I have ever seen. Many customers can affirm this. I think in your case, It was a pleasure meeting both of you and I believe part of the problem was that I felt too comfortable with you. You were very friendly and approachable. It was a complete mistake on my part not to give you a written contract. I apologize for the confusion and I never meant to cause you grief. I can assure you this mistake will never happen again and I can affirm that it is always my intention to give a fair deal. Best Regards. Michael Ramirez Jr.

I communicated with the company primarily via email after he came out and looked at the job. I didn't want my entire home painted, but I just wanted the trim painted and my windows caulked on my two-story home. He said that the job I wanted, and pressure washing would cost an extra $550. I never mentioned the pressure washing, and asked him about why the high extra costs he took it down to $450. I still think that was extremely high for what I wanted so I'll just use someone else instead.

Great quality and the price was very reasonable. Our only problem was that it was to be a project that took 1.5 to 2 days. At the time of quote, we were told that 3 painters would come out to be able to complete. That worked perfectly for our schedule as well. However, by lunch of the first day, we were down to two workers. On the second day, one worker had a family emergency so only one was left to finish the entire job. Of course, it could not get completed. Although the time delay was not due to anything we did, they charged us an extra $50/room because they had to come back out for a third day. Not sure if it's because I purchased the Angie's List Deal, so the price was already outstanding that this upcharge was added. I just would've wanted this to be explained at the time of the initial quote. All in all, though, the work is great and the walls have never looked better.

I have not hired him to do the painting yet.
Description of Work: I had Michael come out for an estimate to paint the exterior and interior of a home I will close on in April. I only had the one day to access the property and have painters come do estimates and bids and he squeezed me in despite a very last minute request. I received three bids and his was lowest. He seemed very knowledgable and offered good suggestions I wouldn't have thought of. He also suggested things that I didn't need painted, such as the trim, which was in great shape and would save me money. He followed up in a day or two and promptly provided the estimates. I have one more painter coming out to bid, but I am pretty confident I will go with ACL due to the customer support and price.

We asked for three bids on this job. The range was all over the board. Michael came in by far the lowest. In fact, his bid was so low that friends advised us against using the company. But we had good friends who recommended ACL and the reviews on Angie's List are uniformly positive. We went with the lowest bid. First of all, Michael is a prince of a man. He is the sort of person you like and trust immediately. We loved his goofy sense of humor and enjoyed every moment he was in our house from the time he came to estimate the job until he came for the walk through at the end. ACL is a team of real professionals. They took care of our house, our furniture, our "stuff". Whatever they told us about the day's work or the length of the job was accurate and realistic. There were a few small redoes that Michael did at the walk through. They were the smallest changes. He did them graciously and with good humor. Finally, Ruben and Raymond were Michael's chief crew on this job. They were professionals and clearly knew everything about their work. We were impressed and grateful that they took the lion's share of the work. However, there were days when there were up to five painters in the house. So even though Michael gives a very affordable price he has the team to get it done. IWe recommend ACL wholeheartedly and remind prospective customers that the highest price is not necessarily any guarantee of a better product.
Description of Work: They painted the entire interior of our two-story house (2400 sq.ft.). The $6000.00 inclued the paint. Every room and every ceiling. In addition, they removed the popcorn from the two largest rooms in the house. Before they even began painting there were cracks in every room. Really big cracks! There was also floating and taping in a number of rooms. This was a huge job and it involved nearly 12 days of work.

I could not be more pleased with the work the crew of ACL Painting did. They were very careful with plants around our house, with everything. I have many potted plants which they moved before pressure washing the house. We have new grass in our backyard and after that was explained to them they were most careful not to lay anything on it. I don't believe a single twig was broken anywhere. They were careful while painting, too. I do not even see a drop of paint dropped anywhere. The painting itself is extremely well done. I learned to paint from professional painters to save money when we were younger -- and I do it well -- so I am very picky about preparation and painting. ACL's painters measure up to my expectations 100%! When they were finishing up about an hour ago, one of the crew went all the way around the house to do an inspection and do any necessary touch up. I noticed he had gone up on the roof and cleaned the leaves from the porch drain that goes on to the roof. That is service above and beyond what is required. The only frustration I had was the painters at our house didn't speak English and I do not speak Spanish except for a few random words - got the azul for front door okay. The crew and I made up our own sign language, and I got the 10-year-old girl from next door when our sign language failed. This has happened to me in other jobs - the owner goes to another job forgetting the customer and crew cannot communicate. Thank goodness I had someone to help me this time! UPDATE: the door color did not come out as the sample looked. I called Michael and he was here the next morning to repaint them for me at a very modest cost since they were working on another job nearby. He came back the following day to put on a needed second coat. I really appreciated this extra service!
Description of Work: High-pressure washed house. Tore out and replaced rotted siding sections and window trim in back. Painted all wood plus the gutters on the house. We purchased the paint. This was an Angie's List Deal.
