Service person Steven was amiable, knowledgeable and very proficient. Job was performed expeditiously and professionally. Work area was left tidy and clean. Perfect!!

He never showed up and never called! I called the office an hour after the scheduled appointment when nobody showed up and was told too bad that he was overbooked. That was it. Nobody has reached out to me to see if I would reschedule (I wouldn’t - who would hire someone who doesn’t even call when they don’t show up!)

I contacted Hill Electric. Susan was very helpful and David came out that morning, diagnosed the problem, fixed it, and we were done by lunchtime!

I called Handyman Matters on 11/20/17 and was able to get Rick to come out to perform services the next day. He arrived ahead of schedule and once he found out what needed to be done he started working. Rick stayed on task the 2 hours it took him to complete the project. He even helped my wife hang the curtains once the rods were in place. I was too afraid of not hanging the rods correctly myself which probably would have resulted in more holes in the walls than needed. Ha! The work is professional in my opinion and I would hire Handyman Matters again.

All the work was completed in a timely manner. Eric did an excellent job.

Eric was very responsive and came out within the same week of calling the office. (the office manager lady who answers the phone is great by the way) Eric looked at everything we had and even moved some stuff to the front yard where it would be picked up by the bulk trash removal the following day. So I thought everything was going well. We got a quote via email a couple days later for all the work on our list and then set up a time to stay at home while the work would be done. All the work was going to get done in one day. Meanwhile, we had our shower plumbing checked out (on Eric's recommendation because they don't do plumbing) and the new plumber had to remove the sheetrock on the opposite side of the wall the day before Eric was coming. So I called the office (twice) and sent an email telling them I needed that fixed too while he was coming over. "No problem," I was told. Well, when Eric got there the first day he was really hesitant and kind of freaked out that the plan had changed and he had to do the sheetrock patch. He said that the office hadn't told him. He went out for supplies, worked on the patch, read some instructions on how to hang a mirror I had on the list, cleared out a drain and grouted a tile. That was it on the first day, then charged the amount that was on the email quote, but not everything was done. Then a couple days later, he came back, finished mudding the patch, and was really hesitant about hanging the mirror (my husband had to talk him into it and even helped), while another work painted the ceiling in a 40 square foot bathroom. Then at the end of the day, they gave us another bill...for even more than the first day. Needless to say, we had to spend a lot of time convincing them to do the work, my husband took off of work to help them (isn't that why you hire a handyman, because you don't have time?) and they didn't finish my list, AND they charged more than twice the quoted amount. So beware, they charge by the hour (even if they are reading instructions), and they will need a ton of attention and direction. My husband ended up finishing the list on his days off. We won't be hiring them again because we basically got a dry wall patch for $2,000. Thanks.

Eric showed up on time, went through my list of items to determine those he could complete. He wasted no time in going out and buying the materials he needed and performed the repairs in an effective and efficient manner. He could not replace the door sweep himself, but was able to come back the next day with help and complete the job. Both Eric and Marc were very professional and a pleasure to deal with.

We have used Handyman Matters several times and they have performed satisfactory everytime.

This is probably the sixth time I've use Handy Man Matters. Every single time has been a delight and I can't say enough good things about the company, from all the technicians sent out to help me to Brandy in the office. Mark Chambers was no exception. I could not figure out what had happened with my wood blinds in the kitchen. I couldn't lower them from the day before when the cleaning service had raised them to clean the windows. Of course, it took Mark only seconds to figure out the issue and fix them. He also repaired the broken string for one of the slats. While he was there I decided to ask his advice with an issue I had after the painters finished in the kitchen. Mark caulked the backsplash, solving the weird painting job. I honestly don't like people in my house. It comes from being a privacy nut as well as a card carrying introvert. I'm a writer so my home is both my castle and my office. However, I've never had a problem with the people from Handy Man Matters or Mark, who is not only skilled but a genuinely nice person. He's scheduled for next week for a drapery project. Again, something the painters caused. Also, although this job was relatively inexpensive, I've spent hundreds and hundreds with this company. They've done everything from repair siding to replacing light fixtures to installing drapery hardware and fixing the garage door opener. I wouldn't use anyone else.

Stephen is friendly and pleasant. His work is good and communication between the office and customer is informative and current as changes arrise.

ALL DAY, electronic dog door never worked

The craftsman was on time. Polite & has good spirit about him. Started immediately, finished & clean, polished work - (skillful) in short time. Spoke highly of his employer.

The handyman looked at the problem and went and bought supplies. He and my husband worked together for a couple of hours to reattach the backboard. It was definitely a two-person job. My husband did not mind being the 2nd person, especially since the charge for the job was probably than it would have been had the company sent 2 people.

Mark showed up on time went right work job was completed in 2 hours. The estimated time. Very professional. Did an excellent job.

It went fairly quickly, and Ed walked me through the process of how to install these. He was fantastic about communitcating everything that had to be done!

Mark Chambers called that he was late. He had to take a shower. I didn't mind that he was late. He said he would call when he was on the way. No call until and hour later saying he was leaving and he had taken the lights down. I had the lights and was waiting for him to call me to tell me he was on the way to take them over there. Since he didn't let me know he was there I said I would be there with the lights in 15 minutes. He said he wouldn't wait but would call me back in a few minutes to reschedule toput the lights up. That he had two more appointments to go to. I thought it was very strange that he hadn't called when he knew I had the lights and even stranger that he called an hour later to say he had removed the lights. I don't know why it would take anyone an hour to take down two fluorescent fixtures. There are three wires and maybe four screws to remove on each one. So now the kitchen has no lights at all and this guy won't wait 15 minutes for me to get there when I would of been there if he had of called like he said he would. So he is leaving and I wouldn't agree to it but he says I will call you back immediately with a time I can come to put the lights up. It is now 5:30 or so on a Friday Afternoon. So I figure I would not have any lights in that kitchen till Monday at the earliest. Which is why I didn't want him to leave but wait till I could get there. So he hangs up. No call on Friday evening. No call all day Saturday. No call on Sunday. Just as I thought. I think Mark Chambers had hot date which is why he was late (taking a shower) in the first place and why he wouldn't wait in the second place. And he didn't have two other calls to go to at all. And the reason he didn't call back to reschedule was because he didn't want his boss to know that he left a job unfinished, arrived late and left early. I needed those lights installed because I didn't want my 91 year old mom walking around in her kitchen with no light and possibly fall or the lady that lives in to fall or hurt herself trying to cook or wash dishes in the dark. So I called another man I had his number from Home Depot and he came over and had the lights up and working in about 45 minutes. Monday morning I called Handyman and told them to not bother sending Mark Chambers out that I had someone else finish his work for him and that I would call later in the day ( since I kept getting their voice mail no one was answering the phone at 8:30 am apparently) (they open at 8 it says)and find out how much they are going to charge me for the late, incomplete work done by their guy. Who as of Monday at 2:18 pm has not called me back right away to tell me when he can finish the job. Lol he wasn't ever going to call. As soon as I find out the amount of the bill I will add it to this post or repost a new post finishing the story.

This is where Handyman Matters technician Marc Chambers came on the scene and assessed what would be an effective, but removable repair to block any future access. It had to be removable in the event any future roof repairs would be required to facilitate placing shingles. Marc came up with an ingenious repair consisting of a screen cut and shaped to the triangular dimensions to provide an effective fit. The repair was sturdy and attached with screws to the patio aluminum frame, thus facilitating its removal if required in the future. The soffit cover was not affected.

Estimate was 4-6 hours at $78/hr. Rick was right on time and was friendly and professional. He had the shed down, area cleaned, and all loaded to haul away in 3 hours. Handyman Matters was a little more expensive that the other service I contacted, but I will definitely use them again. In fact, I have requested an estimate from them for my next project.
