Ace Handyman Services San Antonio

Submitted a request for a quote on a new front door, window sill repair, and fence repair using their web site. Never heard back from them. The vendor lists the date of my contact as March 25, but it was actually March 19. I waited a week before posting. That said...I was contacted by the vendor the day after I entered the review and had a positive conversation with them. The review was still not approved by Angies List and I called them to see if the review could be cancelled and was told by the CSR from Angies list it would be. I just noticed it was never pulled, so I am updating the score to a B.

no call, no show. Not a chance that i will let him work on my home.

Called Handyman Matters on Wednesday and talked to Brandy and told her my problem. She said she could have someone out the next day. Wow, now that's service! Sure enough Jerry showed up right on time and looked over the problem and told me just what it was. I had an ideal but he confirmed it. He said he could take care of it right now. I said "Go for it". The problem was that while trying to get our house ready for painting, I nailed a base board back to the wall. In doing so I knocked some sheet rock loose and even put a nail in the base board that caused a drag on the pocket door. Once Jerry got the base board off, which took about a minute, I saw what the problem was. Jerry assured me not to worry and it can be fixed. Jerry got his tools and in 10 minutes the board was back in place and looked like it had never been removed. Now that's a good deal. I was really impressed with the attitude and the professionalism Jerry had. In 20 minutes from the time he walked in my door the job was completed and I was a happy camper. The way Handyman Matters handled my phone call and got the repair man to my house with out a lot of fuss was amazing. The cost was much less than I thought it would be and I will certainly use Handyman Matters again. Thanks for a job well done.

Marc was efficient, finishing the work in less than his estimated time. Answered questions I had and was pleasant to work with. I am not going into the attic to inspect so will have to trust him that he did the job well, but I have no reason not to trust him. He is a carpenter and I am planning on getting an estimate from him for some bathroom cabinets.

Great work! After looking over the project, it took longer than expected to provide me an estimate, but communication was good and the handymen were punctual. Overall excellent work at a fair price, and thanks for cleaning up.

They came on time and were very professional.

From the beginning there was issues.. from having to reschedule and schedule multiple times to get the work complete, to receiving the invoice months later, our experience was not above and beyond what it should have been for the amount of monies paid.

Technician came over to perform requested services. Actual work took about an hour. The technician had to get supplies in the middle of the job, but still finished within the amount of time in the estimate. They asked us to reschedule our appointment once because of issues with the technician. Overall experience was good. Their prices were very inexpensive compared to other estimates.

The install is still going. The process is messy , unprofessionl and the technician doesnt clean after himself.

Unfortunately, I was never able to even get them to pick up the phone or call me back. I left messages and gave them two or three opportunities to have some work done, but they just never got back to me.

Everything was perfect from beginning to end. After Brandy called me in response to a message I had left on line, I felt I had a clear understanding of the scope of the project. We set the day and time, and I was informed that Mark would be installing the safety bars in our bathroom. Mark called me before arriving, was prompt and courteous. He made sure to install the bars exactly where they would be most useful for those who would be using them, getting the height just right. The bars are very secure. The price was extremely fair, I think. Mark did a beautiful job, even repairing the places where the old towel rack had been. I had assumed I would have to do that myself. We plan to use Handyman Matters for future projects.

The 1st guy Stacy (which was fired) put plywood in the attic that was fine, but the weather stripping ripped off after about a week. He then installed a ceiling fan that he couldn't get to work if he the remote control tranmitter was hooked up at the same time. When he left, the fan and lights would work, but the remote control did not. He also put an extra piece that came with the ceiling fan on which caused the ceiling fan to wobble. The 1st guy Stacy came out 3 times to get the ceiling fan to work. The 1st time he left plastic on the batteries, when he came out the 2nd time to try to get the ceiling fan to work said it wasn't the battery and that we need to go back to Home Depot to get new transmitter that works. The new guy they sent out name Jerry from HandyMan Matters got the ceiling fan working with the remote control and it no longer wobbles. Jerry said there was no charge for him coming out because it was a re-do and then HandyMan Matter called and said that Jerry mis-spoke that there would be a charge. The electrical outlet that controls the garbage disposal is hanging out of the wall. Jerry said that the casing thats inside the wall has been broken. Also Jerry said that Stacy had stripped all of the screws in the fan and in the electrical outlet by using a drill instead of a hand screwdriver. Jerry was suppose to come out on 12/09/13 at 1:30 pm and got there at 3pm after HandyMan Matters called him up to see why he didn't show up. When he arrived he said he had to go get screws from Lowes which we find odd since he is a Handy Man and works for HandyMan Matters they should have screws. They have tools on their truck. I think he had to go back home to get his tool box because he said he was home taking a nap and that was the reason he was late showing up. The conversation that I had with Brandi and Walter today 12/10/13.... Brandi from HandyMan Matter called this morning and said that Jerry had misspoken because the work that Jerry said was a re-do is not a re-do because Stacy no longer works for the company, and asked if we could pay the $40.00 service fee. I said "are you kidding me, you mean with everything that you put me through with this Handyman you're really gonna ask me to pay $40.00?" And Brandi said yes we're asking you to pay the $40.00. She kept saying he no longer works for us (Stacy), and kept asking for us to pay the $40.00. Brandi said she would have Walter the owner call me. I waited for 45min and I called and asked for Walter. Walter answered the phone. I asked Walter "instead of us having to pay the $40.00, how about you paying for the electrician that we have to pay to come out and fix the problem your guy caused?" Walter then said, " No we're at odds on this one."And I said "I'll call Angies List about this." Walter said you go ahead and call Angies List, and Angies List will reach out to us." He offered no kind of consulation, but I noticed that he didn't ask for the $40.00 again.

We've been using Handyman Matters for ~2 years now, and every time we are thrilled with the service. Today, Jerry came out to install some racks in our garage. HM called us this morning to let us know their schedule and anticipated arrival time (which I love!). He was exactly on time, even with a rain storm and lots of traffic out on the roads. Jerry was very professional. He quickly reviewed the job, informed me that he would have to run to Lowe's for some special anchors. Returned quickly, got everything mounted, and cleaned up. Best of all, we hung the stuff up before he left to ensure the mounts would hold well. And lastly, he told me about the Angie's List coupon that I wasn't aware of! In the past, we've had Handyman Matters come help with a leaky faucet, an interior door that wouldn't close because of house settling, and a gate that wasn't closing because the post needed to be re-sunk. On each of these occasions the service has been excellent and the price very fair. All of the repairs have held up beautifully. We look forward to using HM in the future!

John came out to my house and was there on the scheduled date/time. I showed him what the problem was and he went to work right away on the problem. He told me that the strike plate had not been installed properly. He also told me that he installed long screws so that it would be harder to pull the door from the frame, adding more safety to the door. I was very impressed with how quickly he worked and how professional and personable he was. Before he left I asked him what other types of work they did and he told me. I had been wanting to replace two bathroom vanities and he measured and told me that he would get me an estimate for this work. Within two days I had the estimate. When I decide to move forward with this renovation I will strongly consider them to do the work. I had one question about the estimate and am waiting for a reply. Great Job!!

Handyman carpenter Jerry Settles and his assistant Peter arrived as scheduled at 10 am and worked steadily until the job was complete. They did a great job and cleaned up what little debris remained at the end. They were friendly and very professional. The price I was charged was as quoted to me in my initial phone contact and included waiver of the $40 service fee. I will definitely use Handyman Matters for any for any of my small home repairs.

Called the service provider. Brandi immediately set me up a time that worked with my schedule(the next day). Mark C. came on time and was very pleasant, professional and answered all my questions with patience(as I have tons of questions so I understand completely). He was not the only person I contacted for an estimate but I felt he would do a great job and not over charge me. Mark showed up as scheduled and went above and beyond with the work he did. I have only had experience with Mark C and I would recommend Mark C with Handyman Matters, in the future!

Marc was punctual, professional and prepared to do the work. He stayed busy and completed each task in a workman type manner. He charged the hourly rate proposed and completed his task early. The total was less than the estimate in that he finished in fewer hours than estimated. I am very happy with this contractor and will not hesitate to use him again.

Mark Chambers was courteous, on time and thorough. He made recommendations on other kitchen "quick" fixes and said he could handle them as well. All installs were done perfectly and to my specifications. Any other "plumber" would have been twice if not 3 times as costly. Thank you, Handyman Matters!

Good Experience from start to finish. My phone call was returned promptly. Work was scheduled within two days, at my earliest convenience. There was no need for a separate visit to inspect the project, which was admittedly not very large. The telephone consult went into enough detail that the craftsman had a pretty good idea what to expect. Marc Chambers gave me a courtesy phone call to let me know when he would be there. He ended up having to rebuild the foreplate on two of the drawers. He also had to align the tracks on two of the drawers. The work was very nice. I now have three working kitchen drawers that I know are not going to cause me any trouble. Marc was very clean and courteous and definitely a craftsman. I will definitely call again for other projects.

Marc was excellent! He was punctual, called when he was 15 minutes away from arrival, and was very personable, professional, and easy to work with. He was very competent in all the areas we needed help. We have other work to have Handyman Matters (Marc) to do in the future: Mark and Handyman Matters will be whom we call. We highly recommend Handyman Matters!

The handyman arrived on 1st day looked at job and said he could do it in 6 hours using 2 days (4 hrs on 1st day & 2 hrs on second day) at $50 an hour . So he worked the 1st day for 4 hours didn't get what he wanted complete said now will need another 2 days. and the 2nd day was in about 10 days later, The truth of the matter the guy just took his time so he could jack up the price and each additional day was always scheduled 7 to 10 days away I even asked if I could schedule 2 day together they said no, In the end after I provided all materials he was going to charge me for them, and I had to grout the tile because he was going to have to come out a 4th day and another 2 hours when it only took me a 1/2 hour to grout and seal

Was not level, was not square.

He arrived early, was courteous, and explained to me everything he was doing before he did it.
