The worst customer service of any company I have ever dealt with. Told me they would deliver between 9 and 9:30 ? they didn?t show up or call. Did not pick up my call. Then the owner emailed that they would deliver the next day, but they did not and did not call. Owner was extremely rude on the phone, accused me of being hard to deal with when I?m the one waiting at home for them to show up or at least take my calls. Next he wanted an extra ?delivery fee? that was not quoted in advance. Finally the owner told me he needed it all in cash, after originally telling me that a check was OK. I would have been happy to pay for the "delivery fee" and have the cash ready if I had known that from the beginning - since the quote was low to start with.

Sean from ABC contacted us the day before to verify time and addresses. He also called the morning of the move to again confirm the time that they would be there and the address of pick up and delivery. The team moved our mom's precious belongings to their new home. They took extra care of her belongings. The most important thing they brought on this assignment was patience and respect for the senior couple that they were moving. The ABC Movers Team was outstanding in the handling of the wrapping, loading, unloading, and moving of the personal belongings of our Mom and her hubby. My sister in law was there to oversee the move and she couldn't say enough good things about the team (and she is not easily impressed).
Description of Work: ABC Movers moved our Mom and her husband from one home to another. Mom is in her 70's and Ralph is in his 80's.

They arrived when they said they would. There were three guys and all were very pleasant , courteous and professional. They explained their plans of moving the contents, which room first. All the large pieces were wrapped very good and placed on the truck. They were paid by the hour and they worked very efficiently, They delivered our furniture to our new place in the same professional manner. We had no damage. We were very pleased with this moving company and would use them again.

I called and made the appointment about 10 days before over the phone. The person who took my appointment down forgot to take down my cell phone number, but he had my work number and left a voicemail and emailed me to ask for it. Fatal mistake for me was that I called him back about an hour later to give him my number---this was a fatal mistake but I have no way to prove that is what was done and he had my cell phone number on the day I made the appointment. Fast forward to the 24th--They were supposed to show up between 8 and 9am. At 7:56am, I received an email that they did not have my cell number. I responded to that email at 8:02am. Not until about 8:55am (after they should have already shown up) did I get an email from the secretary letting me know that they would not be showing up during my appointment time because I did not provide them with my cell phone number. Somehow in that six minute window, the company decided to send the crew that should have shown up at my apartment to another job. The secretary did the best she could, but there was virtually nothing she could do. She said she would have a manager call me soon. Around 9:20am, the manager Marcos called me, and this man was horrible. He was rude to me, he blamed the whole mix-up on me saying it was my fault that they didn't have my number. When I tried to tell him that I had called back and provided the number, I was told that this was really not their mistake. Marcos was rude and practically yelled at me. When I asked when I could expect the moving crew to come, he told me it would be between 10:30-11:30, but he could not guarantee that. The guys didn't show up until closer to 12, saying when they called to tell me they were on their way that they were given bad directions. The only thing Marcos offered me to try to and quot;make it rightand quot; was a discount of $20 per hour off the hourly rate for the moving crew (I hired a 3 man crew at $145). I was livid at the time and did not find this satisfactory, but given our timeline to get moved, I didn't really have a choice to try and hire another company. Two out of the three guys were great. One of the movers was a bit older, kinda lazy, spent a substantial amount of time in my bathroom both at the apartment and the house (I didn't even want to know). He seemed to think he was the boss of the other two, and quite frankly, he didn't work half as hard as the other two. He also made me extremely uncomfortable by repeatedly mentioning gratuity and the need to and quot;take care of us.and quot; Considering that his company was already screwing up royally with me, I found this to be in very poor taste. I had originally told this mover that I would be putting their gratuity on my credit card along with the payment, and he again made me very uncomfortable by asking me not to do that because the movers don't always get their tips from the company. I can't validate whether or not this is true, but to at least drive the point home about how insistent he was on getting his tip, he asked if they could follow me to the Valero station so I could use the ATM or offered to wait at the house while I ran to the bank. I couldn't leave the house because the ATand T guys were still there, and I did not feel comfortable leaving these guys outside my house while I ran to the bank. I ended up writing each of the movers checks for their gratuity. At first, the guy (different mover than the one who kept insisting on his gratuity) who was taking care of the paperwork marked on my contract that I was supposed to get the hourly rate of $125. However, when it came time to add everything up, he still charged me full price. Part of this is my fault because I was distracted--I had installers from ATand T at the house at the same time as the movers (Their lateness messed up my whole schedule for the day). I contacted ABC as soon as I discovered the error on June 25 via email. On the 26th of June, I got a call from Don with ABC. He gave me the chance to tell my story, was apologetic, especially for my encounter with Marcos, and he said that he would look into it. He even said that he would check into the phone records to confirm that I had called back to provide my phone number. He asked for a couple of business days to sort through the case, especially since he was going to be out of the office doing a job in Dallas, and that I could expect for him to probably just send me a check for the difference on the hourly rate. I hung up with him feeling a lot better. That was shortlived. Two weeks later on July 9, I started emailing ABC because I never heard back from anyone. I got a very short (less than a minute) phone call on the 11th saying that they had received my email and were still working on it. Today (the 15th), I called again. The guy on the phone seemed annoyed with me--like he didn't understand why I was calling and that there's no way he would have given that discount. Then I'm told I'm still going to have to wait another 8 days until the owner Rick returns from his vacation. I'm at my wit's end with this company. On one hand, it's probably only going to be $50 that I get refunded and that money is gone. Perhaps I should let it go. But at this point, I feel like I've been treated very poorly, that this company does not care about its customer service, and it really does not matter what I do--they do not listen nor do they want to make this situation right. So in the end, I liked the movers James and Will. They worked incredibly hard considering it was very hot outside that afternoon, and they were very kind and respectful with me and my belongings. I've deliberately not named the other mover who was way too obsessed with gratuity. I would not recommend this company. A few years ago I used Half Price Movers, and I sincerely wish I had gone with them again. I only used this company because a friend of mine had recently used ABC. Luckily for her, she had a better experience than me.

I contacted the movers and asked if it would be possible to get a few pieces of living room furniture moved the following day. I was told they had just had a cancellation and so would be able to do so. I was informed they would arrive at the first location between one and three on the day of the move and that I would be informed half an hour prior to their arrival. I was quoted a price with a $10 discount due to my military retirement. The total quoted was $230. The movers called as promised, arrived at a reasonable time, were friendly and professional, and wrapped the furniture well. They moved the furniture to the new location, took it in, and again performed as promised. The only complaint I have is that I expect to pay the amount quoted. When I asked my son how much he was charged, he said that he was told the charge was $240 and not the $230 quoted. It is not that the $10 is a huge amount of money but again, I expect the charges to be what was promised.
Description of Work: Sofa, love seat, and table was moved from location on NW side of town to north central location.

We've used ABC Movers a few times over the years. First, we moved our household items into a storage facility January 2010 (near San Antonio, TX) so our house could be leased. The storage items were organized so items that needed to move to Houston were staged for easy access. We used the same crew February 2010 to move items to Houston, TX. In both those cases, the crew was easy to talk to and work with. They did all the necessary things to protect door frames, flooring, special furniture items, etc. so no damage was done. The lead manager came out to the property to inspect the job and provide a quote. I found ABC Movers' price to be competitive and reasonable. We recently used ABC Movers on 1/15/2013 to move our items out of the San Antonio storage unit and then pick up additional furniture from our 3rd floor apartment in Houston and then deliver it to a home in Montgomery, TX. Again, the crew was very professional and even fun to work with and talk to. Ironically, we were just about ready to go with another moving company because at the time they had a reasonable rate. ABC Movers wanted our business so they met and exceeded the competitors pricing. This is the first moving company we've used that hasn't broke or stole any household items. Again, the crew was very professional and had excellent and quot;Southern Mannersand quot;. We'd use them again!

I gave him a $700 deposit and they never showed up to do the packing and moving NOR did he refund my money or bring me the moving supplies. He is a criminal and also does business under Almost Home Movers with the same address. The owners name is Dondi Aguirre and he is a convicted criminal.
Description of Work: DO NOT use this company - Dondi Aguirre is the 'owner' and also uses the business name Almost Home Movers. The contract I was given has the same 6927 Leslie Road address. I signed a contract to do a local move within San Antonio of our residence. He came to our home with a contract and quote and asked for a $700 deposit. I gave him the deposit (I have since learned that reputable moving companies do not charge a deposit) for boxes and packing supplies. His company did not show up to do the packing as promised and he was full of excuses. I gave him every opportunity to either bring me the $700 in a refund or bring me $700 worth of boxes and packing supplies of which he did neither. I did some further research and he has a past theft conviction. He is a criminal and should be in jail. He not only took $700 from me, he also forced us to find another moving company during the busiest time of year and to find one that wasn't booked, cost a very large amount of money. DO NOT USE this company OR Almost Home Movers

I am so sorry Customer about Dondi Aguirre but he copied one of our contract and posed as a legitimate company. He has not worked for us in over a year. We are Abc Movers not Almost home movers, and of course, I am very sorry this happened to you but he has absoluletly nothing to do with Abc Movers. We at Abc Movers have been in business since 1973 and have an A+ on the better business bureau. We are members of the Southwest Movers Association and we take pride in taking care of our customers.

The team that came on the first day to do the packing were running late due to their previous job that ran longer than expected earlier in the day. However, they called several times to let me know they were running behind and when they would arrive. Once they got to my house, they started packing immediately and worked hard to knock out as much as possible prior to the move the following day. The next morning, the team arrived promptly at 8:30 and got the move started, packing additional items as necessary throughout the house. That first day they did not finish until well after midnight and returned the next morning ready to go at it again with the same amount of energy and the same great attitude. Amazingly, they kept up an incredible pace throughout the move despite the August heat and worked harder than any crew I've had in other moves. All in all, it took over 30 hours, 5 trucks (2 were u-Hauls I provided to minimize the number of trips), and an enormous amount of boxes. Although I still have lots of unpacking to do, I have found no broken items and no damage to speak of. Impressive compared to previous moves where my furniture sustained major damage. These guys did the best job I have ever seen! Most impressive of all was their level of professionalism and their attitude in the face of what I can only describe as an overwhelming amount of stuff to be moved. For my kids and my elderly mother, this move could very easily have been an upsetting and stressful event but both crews were wonderful with them. I couldn't have asked for a better team or a better experience.
Description of Work: ABC Movers performed packing services for approximately 50% of my household items and the move from San Antonio to a rural area. The move consisted of two combined households, took three days total (one for packing), and covered a distance of approximately 40 miles between houses.
