Description of Work: I purchased the advertised special of 2 days of painting for $399 on January 10, 2016. I immediately received a message from Jesse via Angie's list stating that he was booked until March, so he wanted to refund my money. I replied to his message that March worked great for us. I did not receive a reply. | The weeks came and went, and I started to get nervous about the purchase. Since I had not received a reply to my previous message, I reached out to Jesse again on February 15, 2016. He replied that he would call the following day, which he did. When I answered his call, the first thing he said was that all of the other "specials" had already been fulfilled and he was no longer offing the special price. I mentioned that I had already paid for the service, so I would like to have the work completed. | Over the next several minutes, Jesse explained to me the limitations to the offer, no furniture moving, the area needed to be prepped, the painting could not include kitchens, or any type of special treatments. I got the impression that he was trying to discourage me from proceeding. After listening to all of the restrictions, I explained that I just wanted to have two rooms painted. I also mentioned that I would like to have an additional job quoted. He agreed to quote the additional job, and sent someone the next day. | The gentleman that Jesse sent arrived on time and was friendly. The problem was that he spoke absolutely no English. None. I know a few words of Spanish, but not enough to communicate adequately. After trying to explain what I wanted, his employee nodded. As he was leaving he stated that Jesse would call me. I assumed that meant that Jesse would call to give me the estimate since I was unable to communicate with the person he sent to give the quote. I waited for two days and called Jesse. I explained that I was waiting for the quote for the additional job, as well as to set a date to complete the work that I had already paid for. | Jesse gave me a quote that was literally 2.5 times the amount of the next highest quote. He explained that his company was booked and that trying to have someone in my area "any time soon" would be difficult. He tried again to refund my money. I explained that I could not afford to have pay someone the full price to paint for 16 hours. I told him again that we could wait, but we wanted to proceed with the advertised special which we already paid for. He said he only ran the deal to get a little business over the winter and did not expect so many people to purchase it. He went on to say that he had customers paying regular prices for bigger jobs. I finally convinced him that I was willing to wait and that I did not want a refund. He finally said he would have someone come between 8 -8:30 on March 14 & 15. | For two days prior to the expected painting day, my family and I moved the furniture, washed the walls, filled holes with spackling, and prepped the two rooms as instructed. In addition to prepping the house, I had to pay for my dog to be boarded for the two days that the painter would be in my home. | On the morning of the 14th we had our paint, we had our house prepped the only thing missing was the painter. We anxiously awaited; 8:00, 8:30, 9:00 came and went. I called Jesse at 9:15 to see if the painter needed directions. He informed me that he was not sending a painter. He said he was refunding my money instead. I asked why he didn't call to tell me no one was coming. He said he lost my number. I asked why he didn't check Angie's list, he said he couldn't remember my name. I told him again that I didn't want a refund. I explained that I had already paid a ton of money to have everything ready for the painting to be done. He offer to "maybe" send someone out the next day or the day after. | I told him that I would have to pay additional money for my dog to be boarded etc., but I agreed to him sending someone the next day. I also told him I was disappointed that I had made all of the arrangements for his company to come and they didn't show up. He then flat out refused to come at all! He told me that since I was already disappointed that I was probably going to write a bad review so there was no point in him wasting time doing the work. I was shocked. | After regaining my composure, I explained that I would give an honest review based on the work. He still refused to come. I told him that was a breach of contract. He still refused to come. I told him that I would definitely write a bad review if he was just not going to show up! He actually offered to DOUBLE MY MONEY BACK if I didn't write a bad review! I cannot help but wonder how many of the positive reviews on Jesse's painting are from people that he paid to not say anything bad. I refused his offer, and stated that I just wanted to have the work completed. Jesse hung up on me. | My husband called and tried to figure out why Jesse would not complete the work, he offered my husband the same double money back if we didn't write a bad review. Again, this makes me wonder how authentic the positive reviews are about Jesse's Painting. My husband refused the offer as well and asked Jesse why we could not just proceed as planned. Jesse said he would refund our money and hung up. | It has been almost a month since that call. We have not received a refund. My husband called Jesse again to see what was going on with the refund and he refused to talk to him. I was hoping to be able to settle this quickly and without issue, but it seems Jesse is not willing to do that. I am afraid that we will be forced to take legal action to get our money back. We are still out the cost of boarding our dog, and having the house painted by someone else. | No matter how good the deal sounds, I would NEVER recommend AAA Jesse's House Painting and Remodeling to anyone. |
