Jim Amthor of A-1 Freeman visited our house on two separate occaisions to provide estimates for the service we desired which includes longterm storage of four years to coincide with our mission service. The first estimate was more than we could afford so we reassessed the items we wished to store and sold more of our belongings. We then asked Mr. Amthor to return to give us a revised estimate which he did. That estimate came in just over $5,000 and based on that second estimate, we decided to use A-1 Freeman. On October 1, they showed up, packed and moved those belongings included by Mr. Amthor in his estimate, and nothing more. Ten days later, on October 12, 2015, I reveived the final invoice for the move from Mr. Amthor in the amount of $7,950.44, approximately 60% higher than his estimate. Despite repeated efforts to get Mr. Amthor and A-1 Freeman to speak to me about reaching a compromise, they have refused. Further, I have repeatedly asked Mr. Amthor to have his general manager, call me, and he has also refused to have him do that. Based on this experience, i am left to believe that Mr. Amthor, knowing we were price sensitive because we were going into mission service, intentionally underbid the estimate to get our business, and then billed us the higher cost. We will never use this company again, and would not recommend that other s use them.
