Description of Work: THE ONLY BAD THING I HAVE TO SAY IS - THE TECHNICIAN HAD TO RETURN TO OUR HOUSE BECAUSE HE MISPLACED HIS PICTURES/DIAGRAMS, WHICH MY HUSBAND HAD TO TAKE OFF WORK A SECOND TIME. OTHER THAN THAT, WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND A-1. THEY WERE VERY NICE AND EASY TO WORK WITH.

Description of Work: He thoroughly inspected a load bearing wall to see if it was properly braced after a kitchen remodel. We were very pleased with his knowledge and felt comfortable with his professional opinion that the work had been performed correctly. We also got a written document with his findings.

Description of Work: John from A-1 came out to my house this morning and completed both the interior and exterior assessments. Thinking the initial end result would foundation repair, I was pleasantly surprised that that my next steps are doable and far less costly. I've already started the process so avoid further damage to my house and I'm hopeful the final report will confirm his initial plan of action and next steps work. John's knowledge of residential structures was impressive. He spoke to me in layman's terms, was kind, patient and thorough. | |The receptionist was helpful when I called; fully explained what would take place and went over the payment options. It was nice that I could apply the Angie's List coupon to the cost. Given all of my research, I have grateful to have found A-1 Engineering. Their website provides comprehensive and extensive information, some I was familiar with and some I wasn't. Compared to other firms, I highly recommend them.

Description of Work: They evaluated our home for foundation problems. |First I did have trouble getting in touch with the company by phone. I called several times, leaving a message but my calls were not returned. When I finally made contact, the appointment was scheduled in a timely manner but there seemed to be a discrepancy with the actual appointment time. My husband took off work to be here based on the time the receptionist set with me but when the engineer arrived an hour later than scheduled, he said the time given to him was the later one. |We took care of payment by credit card via the phone, but when the engineer was finished with the appointment he seemed surprised by that. |We had to speak several times by phone about the credit card and finally seemed to get it resolved. Last week we received another call, saying payment had never been received but when we checked with our bank the card had been charged on the day of the original appointment. We still have not received the engineer's report which was to be in email form. | |On a positive note, the receptionist I spoke with was was courteous and professional about the whole thing. The engineer was presented a professional appearance, was knowledgeable, and answered our questions thoroughly. | |We know that engineers are expensive, but $600 did seem a bit high when the report was to be emailed, not even a hard copy document. We did choose the more expensive option in order to get a detailed floor plan of our property/home indicating problem areas specifically. | |Would we use this service again? We're not sure... After we see the report |we will weigh the positive vs the negative to decide.
