Description of Work: Lonestar Foam Installation, which is another side of Lonestar contracting, I would rate 5 stars or "A"s overall on the scales listed above. I would recommend them to anyone who wants their attic/home insulated with foam. | |Lonestar Plumbing, despite having some good people working for the company, is a company that I would not recommend or advise to hire for a plumbing job. They were "fired" from this job site, with the main justification for the firing being communication. | |Please note that my husband and I took this action seriously, and opened ourselves up for criticism on this action from other professionals who are part of the home remodeling process. All agreed with the firing, and said our actions were justified beyond doubt. That they could also communicate other "dealing with Lonestar Plumbing" stories from their own experiences was a bit disconcerting, but also verified what we saw as the major problem for the plumbing side of this company: communication. | |If you hire this company, be ready for communication issues that will drive up the final price of their plumbing work beyond what was initially quoted, time delays, work delays, and frustration on the home owner's part. Large contracted bids and emergency work will receive priority in Lonestar's plumbing schedule, as told to me by an employee. This work-site, as per their bidding, was approximately $10,000 dollars worth of plumbing work, at their rates. | |Overall: Insulation side:A | Plumbing side: F Reason: management, communication, billing; Linda, their front office worker, is a great person and great worker for the company. | |Quality: Insulation side: A | Plumbing side: C Their work passed inspection, though, due to firing, not all required work for a complete green tag was accomplished -- hence, only a partial green tag was given, and the next plumber had to complete the remaining work of the rough in. One drain rough in was installed improperly, and had to be re-piped and moved by the follow on plumber. | |Punctuality: Insulation side: A - A few small hits here, but overall did very good with communication and timeliness | Plumbing side: F - Had 3 dates in which home owner changed their schedule, and plumbers were a no-show; left job site early one day, with no reason for work site not being cleaned up and returned to original status that they found it (crawl space entrance closed). This reason was not found out about until we phoned to ask why. | |Price: Insulation side: A - Gabe was a pleasure to deal with, stands by their work, and gave a fair price for the work accomplished! | Plumbing side: F - was realistically overcharged for the work done. We paid the price as we choose to settle all accounts and wanted them out of our remodeling process. We were asked what it would take to make us happy with the final pricing, we asked to split the difference between the quote and the final price, and were told no...as their numbers were justified and the final cost stood. | |Responsiveness: Insulation: A - small issues with equipment that caused havoc with their ability to respond, but they let us know what was going on and why. | Plumbing side: F To many phone calls on our part asking for a response, with either none given or no-shows. For emergencies, they will find a plumber on their team to respond, and take minimal action as required by the event. | |Professionalism: Insulation side : A | Plumbing side: B / F The workers, once onsite, did care about trying to get the job done right; The front office is professional and enjoy an excellent reputation around town. Plumbers that were talked to were professional and easy to talk to; all would answer questions as time and work allowed. The overall grade of D is shown due to the communications we had with Paul. You never tell the paying customer that they are wrong, or yell at them. My husband was told that Paul was going through some hard times....that is still no excuse to treat your customers poorly. | |One last note....and a classic quote to tell your friends what not to say, after being fired: my husband was told over the phone by Paul the following "Well, maybe the problem isn't us. Maybe if you communicated with us better we would not be having this conversation about us being fired, and would still be on site." |
