Description of Work: 2.25.11 - company agent arrived to replace the inner workings of four (4) toilets in my home, water inlets, water piping from wall to water tanks, water shut off valves, and wrapped wire tubing, floats, flappers, etc., etc., they were late in arriving, but the agent of the company, "David" completed the job and the 500.00$ was paid. 5.13.11 - my toilet in the master bath, started to continuously run, and I was unable to stop the flow of water, other than by shutting off the newly installed water valve from the wall, called Pope Plumbing and asked for a service call, and was told they could be at my home on Tuesday, 5.17.11, and that they would call to inform me as to the time of arrival of their agent. 5.16.11 - not having heard from the company, I called Pope Plumbing to get arrival time of their agent on Tuesday, 5.17.11, and was told it would be "after 3:00pm, and before 5:00pm. 5.17.11 - at 5:45pm, not having heard from the company, I called and was told that they could not be here, and asked me if a Wednesday, 5.18.11 appointment could be scheduled. I agreed, but only if it can be in the morning. I do not believe they will fulfill their obligation. The initial technician that installed the new inner workings of my toilets, "David," is no longer employed by the company. Their lack of response to a PROMISED CALL TO SCHEDULE THE WORK IS UNACCEPTABLE. I waited the complete day, Tuesday, for the company to arrive, and they failed in their promise and did not call me to inform me of their inability to perform their promised service. I HIGH DO NOT RECCOMEND THE COMPANY, THEY ARE UNRELIABLE AND UNPROFESSIONAL, AND THE QUALITY OF THEIR WORK IS VERY SUSPECT. 5.

+ -1 moreIt took several phone calls to get them to come out but they finally did while it was sleeting and the coldest day of the year. The technician was not very professional and gave us a couple of estimates without explaining the differences between them and what needed to be done. The work had to be done and since he had looked at it and gave us the estimate we had them do the work. Overall when he came back he was more professional and did the work.
Description of Work: We had our gas meter torn off. They had to come out and replace a bunch of pipes to the house from the meter before they could stop all of the leaks.

+ -1 moreThe isolation valve wasn't open, so they opened the valve. They claimed that they restored the pressure in my home, however it was not restored. This company is not extensively knowledgeable with difficult problems and are limited in the services that they can provide. I had to call them back again and told them what the problem was and they told me what the cost was.
Description of Work: I needed to replace the pressure regulator valve on the water meter outside.

+ -1 moreI called Pope Plumbing to schedule a visit and was surprised when they offered to come 2 days later. Mike showed up promptly. The hot water faucet for the washing machine was leaking and he recommended that I replace both the hot and the cold faucets because they were vintage 1961. There was a gas line behind the dryer that prevented the dryer from fitting into the utility closet. Mike cut part of the pipe and capped it. The gas starter in the fireplace just barely put out any flames. Mike recommended against a major repair or replacing it and instead just enlarged the holes in the pipe, which did the trick. He was finished with the whole project in about 2 hours. Because I was a repeat customer, he charged me a very reasonable price for the work.
Description of Work: Replaced the hot and cold water faucets for the washing machine, cut back a gas line behind the dryer so it would fit in the utility closet, enlarged the holes in the gas starter in the fireplace.

+ -1 more2 MONTHS AFTER THIS REPAIR, I SUDDENLY COULDN'T TURN OFF WATER FROM THE "REPAIRED" FAUCET. I CALLED AND WAS TOLD THEY'D BE OUT BEFORE LUNCH, THEN AFTER LUNCH, THEN MID-DAY, THEN LATE EVENING; I LEFT A MESSAGE AFTER THEY CLOSED A 6 FOR A TECH. TO CALL ME - NO RESPONSE. (EACH TIME, I CALLED THEM - THEY NEVER CALLED TO TELL ME MY STATUS, AND I WAITED FOR 10 HOURS). POPE STILL HASN'T PHONED; WORSE, THEY DID NOT HONOR THE 90-DAY GUARANTEE ON THE INVOICE. I HAD TO PAY SOMEONE ELSE, AND THAT PLUMBER TOOK 1 LOOK AND SAID THAT THE JOB POPE DID THE FIRST TIME WAS A MESS.

+ -1 moreJON, WITH POPE PLUMBING, WAS GREAT. HE WAS PROFESSIONAL, POLITE, TIDY, & TIMELY. HE WAS HERE FOR TWO FULL DAYS, AND A COUPLE OF EXTRA HOURS IN THE NEXT TWO DAYS DOUBLE CHECKING THE GAS LINES & COVERING UP THE NEW LINES. HE ALSO CHECKED IN WITH ME LATER TO SEE IF I HAD HOT WATER YET.
Description of Work: WE HAD A GAS LEAK OUTSIDE THE HOUSE. ONCE THAT HAD BEEN REPAIRED, THE PLUMBER TESTED THE GAS LINES & FOUND THERE WAS ANOTHER LEAK - SOMEWHERE. IT TOOK ANOTHER FULL DAY TO FIND THE OTHER LEAK & REPAIR IT. IT WAS INSIDE AN EXTERIOR WALL, SO HE HAD TO REMOVE SOME BRICKS, REPAIR THE ADDITIONAL LEAK & RUN A NEW GAS LINE TO THE CLOTHES DRYER.

Description of Work: ONE OF MY BATHROOM FAUCETS WAS PLUGGED UP, THE TOILET WAS ROCKING AND THERE WAS A LEAK AROUND THE HOT WATER HANDLE ON ANOTHER SINK. THE PLUMBER ARRIVED A FEW MINUTES LATE BUT WAS QUITE COURTEOUS AND FRIENDLY. HE PUT NYLON WRAPS AROUND HIS SHOES BEFORE ENTERING. HE QUICKLY FIXED THE 1ST TWO PROBLEMS. HE EXPLAINED THAT THE TOILET ROCKING WOULD PROBABLY RETURN BECAUSE THE FLOOR HAD BEEN RAISED, PROBABLY BY THE INSTALLATION OF TILE AND SO IT COULD NOT BE SCREWED DOWN AS TIGHT AS WOULD NORMALLY BE POSSIBLE. HE SAID THE TOILET WOULD HAVE TO BE RAISED FOR A PERMANENT SOLUTION. HE COULD NOT FIX THE LEAK AROUND THE HANDLE BECAUSE THE EQUIPMENT WAS OLD AND COULD NOT BE REMOVED WITHOUT DESTROYING IT. I HAD BEEN TOLD THIS BEFORE. HE SUGGESTED THAT I COULD ACQUIRE NEW EQUIPMENT CHEAPLY ON MY OWN AND HE COULD INSTALL IT. HE CHARGED ME $60 FOR THE HOUSE CALL, WAS EFFICIENT ABOUT HIS WORK AND HIGHLY COMMMUNICATIVE ABOUT THE ISSUES WITH MY PLUMBING.

WHEN I ASKED WHEN TO EXPECT THEM, SHE SAID "MOMENTARILY". 30 MINUTES LATER SHE CALLED BACK AND SAID THEY COULD NOT MAKE IT, BECAUSE THERE WERE OTHER PROBLEMS AT THE HOME THEY WERE CURRENTLY WORKING ON THAT WERE DISCOVERED AFTER THE TECHNICIAN HAD LEFT FOR THE WORK ON MY HOME. NO APOLOGY, NO NOTHING. I EXPLAINED I HAD TAKEN OFF AN AFTERNOON FOR THEM TO BE HERE AND THAT DID NOT MATTER ONE WAY OR THE OTHER TO HER.
Description of Work: I CALLED SEVERAL DAYS IN ADVANCE TO HAVE THIS COMPANY DO SOME MINOR PLUMBING WORK REPAIRS.
