He followed up to make sure the other contractor had contacted me about the solar screens. I appreciate his taking the extra step to do this. The company he recommended has already followed up and came to my home.
Description of Work: Inquired about solar screens - he was not able to provide this service but responded quickly with information on another Angie's List company he recommends.

Craig and his crew redesigned existing walls to accomodate the bathrooms new designs. Moved existing electrical to accomodate heated floor and new lighting. Rerouted HVAC in new bath. Put up new drywall and textured. Tiled both bathrooms - great craftsmanship. Installed new vanities and mirrors and all new lighting. Oversaw the installation of new window, granite countertops and shower doors. Attention to detail is outstanding and was much appreciated. Tile cutting was done outside along with the hardwood cutting. Installed new baseboard and trim throughout. Will call on him again for our rental house remodel.
Description of Work: Converted a Jack and Jill bathroom into a powder room and full bathroom with shower. Enlarged existing closet and installed hardwood floors.

They did a great job, and came in right on original estimate for labor and construction materials. We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted in advance, and Craig stuck close to our drawings, making a number of good suggestions. During the job we were kept very up-to-date about where things were and what was happening, and were always asked if there was some option as to how to proceed. The job took about six weeks, with no significant interruptions. We moved into a spare bedroom for the duration, and they used the master for storage and working, with all the stone-cutting and such done outside the house. The rest of the house was unaffected by the work; not even noticeable dust. The glass shower itself was installed by a subcontractor, who we only met briefly. Likewise, the vanity was delivered and installed by a crew from Rockywood. I wish there were a way to post photographs here; the before-and-afters were really something!
Description of Work: This was a complete master bathroom and walk-in-closet remodel, including moving walls and doors (to add a closet inside the MBR) and replumbing (to add a basin inside the WC). All existing tile was removed and replaced with marble, with a new glass-walled shower installed. The cost given above is the total amount spent (project cost), including about $3200 on hardware, fittings and replacement bathtub (from Apex Supply Co), $2000 closet fittings (Elfa), $1000 stone (Lowes) and $1400 vanity (Rockywood Stone and Cabinets); actual payments to Hamilton Interior Finishes were about $16500. For reference/project-size comparisons, the bathroom itself is 180 sq feet, and the adjoining pass-through closet is about 100 sq feet.

Craig was very professional and very much into details. A lot of work was put into this remodeling and the result is way beyond my expectation. And I have quite high expectations. Absolutely excellent work! I'm hiring him again right away for other improvements in the house.
Description of Work: Removed existing shower, tiles and backboard, and existing shower enclosure. Install new shower with tile flooring and frameless glass enclosure including new wall tiles. Install new tub valve with dual outlets. Replace wood baseboards with tiles.

Went smoothly overall. Hamilton and crew were there on time and on the job. Cleanup always completed as part of the job. Carpentry looks tight and clean. At one point the home was exposed to the elements, but great care was taken to protect it from the rain. Attention paid to two most important things doing an excellent job and cost. Both greatly appreciated.

Removed carpet from stairs and hall and took it away. All sawing and hammering was done outside. If it bad bee nraining they would have done it in the garage, which was nice, considering the noise. I appreciated their efforts to make the railing more secure than before. I hyad no complaints, and 2 years later, it still looks great.
Description of Work: Removed carpet from stairs and hall. flooring was delivered 2 days prior to installation to allow wood to adjust to temperature and humidity of my house. Craig did a great job. He gave us a reasonable quote. We had some offers that were cheaper and some that were higher, but Craig's seemed the most reasonable, and based on the reviews on Angie's List, I had a higher comfort level using Craig's company. He arrived when he said he would be here for the quote and for the actual work. He did exactly what he said he would do and charged me exactly what he said he would charge with no hidden fees or attempts to up-sell. All said and done, we now have three brand-new looking columns on the front of our house. I think the columns actually look better than we our house was first built. I plan on hiring Craig again in the future. As a matter of fact, he's working on a quote for another project for me now. I was that impressed.
Description of Work: I had three columns on the front of my house that were weather-worn, moldy, and split. I asked Hamilton Interior Finishes for a quote on replacing all three columns. This would require tearing off the old column wood, cutting new portions as well as caulking, and painting.

Craig helped us install wood flooring in our 1st house and he did a great job. I knew he's versatile and capable of handling complex projects that has many pieces. I didn't hesitate to call him after we purchase the 2nd house. Craig is very knowledgeable on various trades and gave us many good tips and advice. He worked with us on many details such as paint color, shoe mould, grout color, etc. He made many trips to my house and various suppliers during a period of more than 2 months. Everything was done with great care and attention to detail. The result is very impressive. Craig is a guy with honesty and integrity. I like him a lot and will definitely look for him next time.
Description of Work: We purchased a 2nd house and Craig helped to paint the interior, install hardwood and tile floors, install water heater, install light fixtures, and refinish the garage floor.

I would recommend Craig Hamilton without hesitation. Although his bid was not the lowest I received, the original contact I had with him gave me the impresstion that he knew what he was doing. I was not mistaken. Craig and his crew were always friendly and punctual and worked within the short timeframe I needed to have the space ready for use. Craig himself took extra time with me to select and recommend cost-effective and desirable materials. He was personally invested in creating a quality design and a great finished product, with attention to all details. The formerly inefficient tile bath is now a work of art! He also took in stride the construction "surprises" presented in remodeling an older home. I am very satisfied with the finished product. I will certainly call Craig when it's time for my next remodel project.
Description of Work: Craig and his crew restored/remodeled a separate pool house structure, including a full bath makeover.

We had a very satisfying experience with what I thought to be an almost impossible job. We have had shifting and such for a year, with wooded doors we were having issues. We found the guys on Angies list, The man came out several minutes early for the estimate, he was very quick on all questions I had, when I asked for opinions, he not only gave me some but explained the best options for each issue we had. We picked out the doors (all 4) he picked them up, installed them, and did a very professional and beautiful job. Neighbors who saw them working came by the next day to see, and they were very impressed as well. As he promised he was able to complete the task in one day and was 5 minutes early at that.
Description of Work: We had a front door with a storm door put in, along with a special back door with a storm door put in. 4 Doors done in one day and that included the thresholds, doors, panels, and new frame work. They also removed the old doors and all frames and carried them off for us. They cleaned up after themselves.

This was our first big project in our first home, so we had some apprehensions having strangers coming in and working on the place. Craig was great though. He was on time and was a better cost than the other contractors we had come out and quote us for the same work. He also did the best job of addressing any questions/concerns we had when first comparing the contractors. He kept pretty busy with other projects, but he was always upfront with us on when he would actually be able to start the work and kept us updated on how the work was going. We did not have a timeline we needed the work done by, and it was more important that everything was done correctly, which it was. Craig was a perfectionist with the project, which we appreciated since it is our home! We were in charge of getting our own fixtures and tile, and that worked out well for us. We just made sure we had all of the fixtures before he started since it can be hard to tell when all of that will come in, that way we didn’t hold up his schedule. He did most all of the work himself (he had a helper sometimes), which was comforting to know he was always there, and not just handing it off to someone else we didn't know and randomly "check in" on the project. He was always sure to clean up everything before he went home for the evening, and kept everything out of our way. He takes pride in his work and is upfront with his suggestions for the best outcome, which is good, but was happy to work with us to make sure our vision was accomplished. We love our new shower and would DEFINITELY recommend Craig to anyone and will use him on any future projects we may have down the road!
Description of Work: We extended our shower in the master bathroom, which required moving some plumbing, as well as cutting through the foundation to move the drain over. He retiled the entire shower (and built a corner bench as well as a shampoo nook) and retiled the surround around the tub. He made sure everything was completely up to code and used the best material to prevent any future issues or leaking. He also replaced all of our bathroom fixtures and added a new frameless shower surround and door.

Mr. Hamilton showed up on 3/3/11. We went over the project with him. He said he would provide a bid in a few days and send us information on a tile company. I waited for several days for the bid and never heard back from Mr. Hamilton. Since I did not hear from him, I contacted him on 3/13/11 and asked about the bid. He said he would send it in a few days. I never heard back from him again. He never sent the information about the tile company either. My experience with this individual was not good, a big disapointment as he was highly recommneded by Angie's list. My wife and I both took time off from our jobs to meet him to go over the work. My wife was 7 months pregnant at the time & we hoped to get the kitchen or bathroom done before the baby arrived. This time lost was a set back. He did not do what he said he would do so I would not recommend him.

I have always set my appointments to the customers schedule.I met with you both in the evening per your request..It was not until I arrived to look at your home that you told me you would like this work to be completed before the arrival of your newborn.Which I stated at the time would probably not be able to complete your project on time for I would not even be available to start the project for a few weeks. For you to post a report on Angie's List that is not factual is very unprofessional.I pride myself and the people who work with me that any job we do is second to none. That is why you contacted me in the first place. It is a small company and we can't get to everybody but the one's we do are customers for life. He was an excellent contractor. He was a perfectionist. He did it between Thanksgiving and December so it was ready to go because we definitely had a short window of time. He met all our needs and provided us with a great looking floor. We would definitely recommend using him. We've already given out several referrals for him. His pricing is very competitive but I wouldn't say he was the lowest. He delivers things when he says he is going to and he gets things done when he says he will. All the work is very clean. All the people that work for him were very personable. We have nothing but good things to say about him. We actually had a leak after the flooring was installed and they came out and did the repair as well.

I wanted to recommend them. It was not that they were just yanking out one window and putting back one, there was a lot of work to it than that. The windows itself cost close to $3000. I took the measurements that he had done and took them to another company and checked and they were not much cheaper. He has people do good work and I know they would do good work. I got to know that he did good work for a friend and she is as picky as I am and she was praising them to high heavens. I had them do one project for me and that led to the second one. Then they did painting for me outside the house and now I am going to get some more things done by them. They do a good job. He always comes with them and on the first day even if he is not staying to do work, he will come and check and make sure they know what they are supposed to do. He always comes and checks in between to see if they are doing the job and makes sure that they clean up well after the job. It could be that I am paying more than somebody else but I have phone call people to do things. I have had people do simple plumbing and air conditioning work that didn't go really well and so I was fed up of calling people who I pay good money and don't get a good product out. I don't have to worry about that with him. If I have to go out somewhere I can just go off leaving his people working and never have to worry that I am going to miss something. That's worth a lot. I didn't do comparison pricing with anybody and I don't want to do that because I know that he will do a good job and I don't want to deal with the hassle of somebody who I don't know will do it right. I wasn't interested in checking the price. He is always on time and if he is getting delayed he will call and let me know that. I don't find the point to use somebody else when you get treated well by them. He has given me advice on things. I talked to him about redoing my kitchen and parts of my bathroom to see if I could get some more space. He gave me suggestion on how to go about it and what we could do. If he is not able to do something he would recommend somebody who does it. He is great.
Description of Work: I used the service of Hamilton Interior Finishes. I had windows replaced with more energy efficient ones. They demolished the windows. They also fixed some cracks from the foundation. They fixed a siding which separated and left a gap. I had a fascia above my porch fixed. They did some paint touch up's. We had old sidings on the windows, so when they replaced it with new ones which were thicker they had to replace the boards around it with new board. They did vinyl energy efficient windows for all our windows. I have 12 windows and out of that 8 needed the extra board around it.

We searched for a long time for a contractor we felt was straightforward and trustworthy and reasonably priced. We are so glad we found Craig Hamilton. He met with us and listened to what we wanted, offering suggestions where we were unsure. He gave us a detailed estimate so we could add or removed items, if desired. He started work on time, and kept us well informed of his progress and schedule. The work was very well done, with an eye to detail. Craig was instrumental in coming up with the final design, and the result is a bathroom/master suite we just love. Craig and his crew were very respectful of the home and homeowners, and the worksite was always left in a neat and tidy condition at the end of the day. We have already scheduled Craig for additional projects, and expect to hire him for even more, now that we have found a contractor we can trust.
Description of Work: Major remodel of Master Bath and Bedroom. Tile shower was gutted and rebuilt with tile and tumbled stone and includes a new frameless glass door, two niches and a bench, and a new light fixture. The old whirlpool tub and surround was replaced and reconfigured with a new soaking tub. Windows were replaced with energy efficient, double hung vinyl windows. Cabinetry, walls, ceiling and trim were painted. Bathroom carpet was replaced with porcelain tile with marble accents. Countertops were replaced with marble. Mirrors were cut to fit new configuration. All plumbing fixtures and accessories were replaced. A new outlet with GFI circuit was added, and a new light/heat/exhaust fixture was installed. The bathroom door was replaced with a new, larger one. All electrical switches and outlets were replaced. A hardwood floor was installed in the Master Bedroom, and walls, trim and ceiling painted.

Craig came out, listened to what I wanted to have done and wrote me a fair estimate to have the above listed items completely removed and replaced. He also measured and had replaced the four front facing windows of the house with high efficiency vinyl windows and replaced the small amount of siding on the front porch of the home. After all of the hanging of the Hardi material was complete, he called in his painters to prep and paint the exterior of the home. The job was completed as promised in 7 days. Craig also put me in touch with a gutter company that he uses to have gutters hung to replaced the worn out ones that were removed with this replacement of the non-brick siding. Finished Product: http://flickr.com/gp/sdfaull/55N3B6 Craig was responsive and kept me informed at every step of the process.
Description of Work: The soffit, brick freeze and facia around the entire exterior of my home was falling off and large gaps were exposed allowing animals access to the attic space. The four front facing windows had to be replaced. All of the non-brick siding was replaced with Hardi material.

We have used Craig before and are very happy with his work. He had previously remodeled our utility room and replaced a large kitchen cabinet. Craig came out and gave us an estimate for labor. He recommended a plumbing supply store and flooring company for us to look at materials. We met him at the flooring store and selected the materials we liked. The job took about 12 days from start to finish and everything looks beautiful. There were a couple of minor things that Craig felt he needed to address after the job was finished; he returned to do those tasks and power wash the area on the exterior of our house where the tiles and marble had been worked on. We are extremely satisfied with the quality of the remodel. Craig goes the extra mile to make sure everything is perfectly installed. He and his crew take pride in their work. Vincent also repaired our front door lock assembly!
Description of Work: Craig and his crew tore out our old MBR shower and replaced it with travertine, marble trim, and a frameless door. They raised the ceiling in the shower, installed a pan liner and cement board and pack pan, replaced the lighting fixture, plumbed the drain, and installed fixtures. They textured and painted the entire ceiling. Vincent laid the travertine tiles in the shower and on the floor. Carl did the glass work. There were also a couple of repairs done: the bathtub drain and an electrical repair on the furnace in the attic.

He is just awesome. I am usually at work and when I get home, other than their progress, I would never know that they had been in my home. They have been using a wet saw and there hasn't been dust or anything. I told them early on what my budget would be and he has given me a lot of alternatives and found mid range solutions that give me the look I want. He has been very helpful in telling me where to look for materials. He hasn't steered me in the wrong direction one bit. I am incredibly pleased and will call on Craig's company when I have future projects. I would recommend this company.
Description of Work: Craig Hamilton and his crew remodeled my front bathroom, put down laminate flooring and tile. He also rebuilt my fireplace and is working on my master bathroom now. Removal of all tile and gutting of bath were accomplished in one day. Craig has a small, very qualified team of 2-4 men. Vincent was a one man show, laying all the tile, plumbing and electric. This took almost 3 weeks, but was done perfectly! Craig checked in regularly for quality work. Vincent took the time to see that we always had access to our garage, entry and office. At the end of each day he left the areas as clean (or cleaner) than when he arrived. Phil framed, helped grout and added shoe molds. (Craig had not considered the shoe molds in his estimate and was not going to charge... I estimated his cost and added to his payment.) Craig finished the job by hand troweling the texture and painting, installing towel bars and mirror. So very pleased with the results! The entire job took about 4 weeks, but I felt comfortable leaving access to the house while I was away. If you're in a hurry, probably not the team for you...but if you want it done right...it's worth the wait.
Description of Work: Gutted full guest bath, removed tile from entry, hall, laundry, kitchen and bath, The bath remodel included everything...tub to shower, moving of toilet and electric, wallpaper removed, wall textured and painted. Shoe molds were painted and added through out newly tiled areas.

After talking about adding space to our laundry room for years, we finally took the plunge to tear out a wall and expand the room into part of the existing garage to add lockers for the kids junk and provide more storage space. We chose Craig after interviewing several other contractors. His price was fair, he was very honest, and did much of the work himself. Craig and his assistant Phil were very punctual, worked quickly and often went "above and beyond" to make the project work, and were never the cause for any delay. They were great to work with, and always very patient in explaining what they were doing, often suggesting alternatives. Phil even cut a sample of crown moulding for the cabinet guys, who couldn't seem to figure it out by themselves! Craig did a fantastic job, and we ended up with the nicest "mud room" in Dallas! We're planning to use him for additional projects as we get around to them.
Description of Work: Remodeled/expanded existing laundry room into portion of garage. Poured and leveled new concrete floor for space, framed, insulated, sheetrocked new wall with tape, bed and texture. Installed new tile flooring. Removed and replaced baseboard and crown moulding. Installed new appliances and plumbing fixtures.
