Our wood floors turned out beautiful. The crew did a great job with the wood floor installation, which covered 1650 square feet. One of the best parts of the experience was Craig's flooring distributor; they were able to get the hardwood floors we wanted for half the price we would have paid to get them ourselves. Part of the job involved removing some very stubborn entryway tile and old vinyl flooring, and the crew worked hard and got it all done right.

We are very pleased with our new bathroom. Craig replaced a garden tub with a beautiful walk-in shower and expanded a closet. In addition, the cabinets and countertops were replaced and all new flooring was installed. The entire job took about 2 months, which seemed a bit long, although the attention to detail was well worth the extra time. There were even several smaller items that Craig took care of without charging us extra above the original bid. It was a pleasure to work with Craig and his entire crew. They were polite, professional and always showed up on time in the morning.

Craig's painters showed up on time every day and always got right to work. They used high quality Sherwin Williams paint, the cost of which was included in the total cost. There were several places that required extra patching and painting, and we were not charged extra for this. In the end, we had painted every interior surface (including doors and trim) except the kitchen cabinets--4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 2 living areas, dining room, study, breakfast room and kitchen walls, and are very pleased with the way it turned out.

We were really, really happy with the work Hamilton Interior Finishes did and how the final product looked. From the beginning, it looked great. He came out and gave us an estimate right away. He was on time and very polite. Everything was great. He walked me through step by step to see if I was happy with something. He would change it if I wasn't.

I contracted Craig to do a complete master bathroom remodel and was very pleased with the end result. The new bathroom is beautiful. His highest priority is to make sure the homeowner is happy and the his great attention to detail showed in the end product. Due to the scope of work, there were some MINOR issues along the way (mostly due to my poor planning) but Craig never complained once and made sure I was happy in the end. Do not hesitate to use him, he will do the job right and at a fair price.

Craig put me in contact with Rich Walden of Walden Cabinets and had me work directly with Rich in designing the cabinets. Craig also put me in contact with Mike Hamilton of Hamilton Electric for installation of the under counter lights, which I had purchased myself from Rockwall Lighting. Craig was, however, directly involved in coordinating installation of the granite countertops. He and his crew also installed the tumbled travertine tile backsplash, the range hood, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and made the repairs. For the countertops, Craig explained the process and recommended several granite companies where I could select my granite. After the cabinets were installed, I took a piece of trim with me to select the granite. Once I had selected the granite, Craig did rough measurements of the counter space and coordinated with StoneTex to provide me a bid. He then coordinated with them to take laser measurements for the countertops and coordinated installation. Along with the countertops and window ledge, I had StoneTex make a cutting board and two paper weights from the stone. In the beginning of the project, Craig and I had discussed tumbled travertine tile for the backsplash, so once the countertops and under counter lights were installed, he recommended where to look for my tile. I took one of the paper weights with me to select a coordinating tile. Craig provided me with a bid for the backsplash once I selected the tile. After I approved the bid, Craig and his crew installed the backsplash. They had to patch where we had removed a cable connection from the wall and repair the walls where the electrician had run the wiring for the under counter lights. They installed the tiles on the diagonal using a very narrow gap between tiles. This was more work for them but looks so elegant. Tiles were sealed before gout was applied to prevent the tiles from absorbing grout color, and both tiles and grout were sealed after the grout had dried. They used caulk matched to the grout to seal along all edges where the tiles met another surface. Craig also installed my new garbage disposal and connected my new kitchen sink. He additionally installed my new dishwasher and new range hood. Before the kitchen remodel, the gas pipe for the range stuck out of the wall too high to allow the range to fit closely against the wall (there?s an open area near the bottom of the range where the range should connect to the gas, and the pipe didn't?t extend into this area). Craig opened the wall and added an extension to the pipe so the connector would extend into that open area and patched the wall. He connected the range, leveled it, and moved it into place. Craig and his crew do an excellent job of cleaning up. Besides quality work, one of the other things I appreciate about Craig is the thoroughness of his explanations in advance of the work. There are never any surprises with Craig. I could not be more pleased with my kitchen remodel.
Description of Work: I’m woefully behind in reviewing several companies that have done excellent work for me during my kitchen remodel in Dec 2011/Jan 2012. The kitchen remodel involved custom cabinets, granite countertops, LED under counter lighting, tile backsplash, small repairs, and installation of a new range hood, garbage disposal, and dishwasher. Five companies were involved in bringing my dream kitchen to life: Hamilton Interior Finishes, Walden Cabinets, StoneTex, Rockwall Lighting, and Hamilton Electric. Craig Hamilton of Hamilton Interior Finishes was general contractor for the job. Craig has done several remodeling jobs for me because he and his crews do excellent work and I know the job will be done right the first time, and this one was no different. I am reviewing the other four companies under their own names, but I was extremely pleased with all involved! Craig was directly involved in coordinating installation of the granite countertops. He and his crew also installed the tumbled travertine tile backsplash, the range hood, dishwasher, garbage disposal, and made the repairs.

Craig arrived early for the initial meeting. He listened to the scope of work I requested. He had several questions and made some very good recommendations such as how to reduce the price on the custom glass for our master shower. We had opened up the shower by building a pony wall. The contractor that had performed that work had built a small abutting wall that would have necessitated a custom size glass shower door. Hamilton Interiors removed the small wall and made necessary adjustments so that a standard 28" door could be installed. Also, the water had been shut off to the house to allow for the demo of the bathrooms. When the water was turned back on, several cut off valves were leaking. Craig recommended replacing all of the exposed valves due to their age. The additional work was very reasonably priced and saved us from potential future leaks. Craig and his team took great care to ensure that the finished product was exactly what I had expected. They used special tools to bullnose odd shaped tiles and ensure a visually pleasing appearance on the pony wall and in the shampoo recesses. I received regular calls from Craig updating me with the progress of the project and next steps. I was very comfortable with Craig and his crew and their access to the house. We will definitely contact Craig for future projects. He takes his time but the end result is worth the wait..

I contracted Hamilton to paint my living room, dining room, and kitchen. The work included removing one whole wall of sheetrock floor to ceiling which was damaged by termites. While evaluating the job the estimater recommended removal of an interior wall. It wasn't in my origianl plan but I have to say his recomendation really made the room larger and more usable. The workmen were very efficient and took much less time than anticipated. They also were working at the same time as another contractor working in he kitchen. I had to coordinate their work with down time because they were painting parts of the kitchen asl well. They also worked well with the flooring installers at the same time. I'm very pleased with their work and the finish is perfect. Definitely a job well done.

The best experience i've had. I hired a company to finish the flooring project that i had started. it was sticky vinyl tile strips in a bathroom. the work was supposed to start on thursday (my day off). I call the contractor on thursday to find that he has forgotten the appointment. So at 10:30 am on Thursday I start calling companies on Angie's List. Dobson's Flooring and Hamilton Interior returned my calls. No one could come on thursday. So on Friday Craig of Hamilton comes by and tells me he has a guy and that he can come at noon. Vincent shows up and makes my mistakes look good enough to be on the DIY network or HGTV. If you are wondering why I couldn't wait I have company coming in on Sunday (for 8 weeks) and this is the bathroom he will be using. I bow to Vincent and flooring skills. He managed to make my attempt look professional. And while I would like to claim the work as my own Vincent deserves the credit. If you use Hamilton please ask for Vincent.

I started out just wanting my foyer painted because it was very tall. That went so well that we moved on to other areas that needed to be done, most of which we thought we were going to do ourselves. Am I glad we did. They were very professional and Craig Hamilton helped me make a lot of decisions that helped the project turn out much better than I had expected, and certainly much better than if I had done them myself! He also helped me find good people to do other jobs that needed to be done. I believe his prices were more than fair and the people working for him were great as well. I will definitely call on him the next time I need work done.

Craig has done several projects for me because I know the job will be done correctly the first time. Craig used hardi-plank for the trim to preclude rot in the future. The trim work is so excellent that the windows look like original installations. Three sets of the windows went in multi-window openings, and it took several people to accomplish the installation. Craig made sure tarps were put down to protect my wood floors. As always, they did an excellent job of cleaning up and disposing of the old windows. Craig does an excellent job of explaining what and how the work will be performed, so there are never any surprises at the end.
Description of Work: This review is quite late due to intervening projects. Craig Hamilton of Hamilton Interior Finishes was general contractor for installation of 12 Don Young vinyl clad low-e windows in May 2011 and four more in September 2011. He coordinated everything from arranging for the measurements to demolition of the old windows and installation. The cost of the windows is documented under Carl's Pane in the Glass, who was subcontractor for the windows. Craig and his crew had to add trim around the windows that were installed in the wood clad parts of the house, caulk the trim, and paint, since the new windows are thicker than the windows they replaced.
The job went well and I'm extremely happy with the end result. Craig did a number of "extra" little things for me for which he did not charge. He has great attention to detail. His painters are neat, courteous and do great work. Since this job was completed over several months, there was a period during which I just turned over a house key to the painters and they would come every day and work and then lock up at the end of the day. I was in constant phone and email contact with Craig, but it would have been impossible with my work schedule for me to be there to let his workers in in the mornings and lock up at the end of every work day, so it was key that I felt so comfortable with him and with his workers. There was never a problem. Because I was not able to give him everything I wanted done up front (since I was not an experienced remodeler), the job probably went on a little longer than it would have if I would have had "all my ducks in a row" from the beginning. I kept adding little projects, but Craig never told me no and took it all in stride. We also went on vacation during the time the work was being done, but he just suspended the work for that week and then picked it up again when we returned to town. If you want a "quickie" job, Craig is not the man for you because he gives great attention to detail and is not interested in rushing the project, which I appreciated. He helped me with selections but of course left the final decisions to me. He made suggestions but never pushed his ideas. I had never done anything remotely like this, and he and his workers were always helpful. Finally, I know that if I would ever call him with a question about anything or a problem, even now that the project is concluded, he would be willing to advise me and help me with any issue that may arise, although there has not been an issue. I would like him to return to do a couple of small things in the future. I feel like he has given me a new home, without the hassle of moving! His estimates are fair and he gives you line item amounts, rather than just a bottom line estimate figure, so that you know what you are paying for and can adjust for things you may want to add or subtract. Do not hesitate to call Craig for a quality job.
Description of Work: I used Hamilton Interior Finishes to do some extensive remodeling in my home. Kitchen: Granite countertops, complete repainting which included removing tons of wallpaper, texturing and repainting, new faucet and sink, sanding and repainting cabinets and installing new hardware. Installed new microwave/convection oven and new light fixture. Powder room: Removed pedestal sink and replaced with vanity with granite countertop and new sink and faucet, replaced commode, removed wallpaper and painted and textured walls and woodwork. Dining room: removed mirrors from two walls and wallpaper from another, textured and painted walls, ceiling and woodwork, and replaced light fixture. Master Bathroom: completely gutted and got rid of everything except for vanity - removed wallpaper, textured, painted, replaced light fixtures, replaced commode and bathtub, retiled shower, replaced both faucets and sinks, and added beautiful granite countertop with new framed mirrors. Repainted woodwork, walls and ceiling in other rooms of the house. Recarpeted carpeted areas of house, installed new floor tile in master bathroom and downstairs entryway. Added marble around fireplace. Repainted entire exterior of the house including repairing holes in walls in garage walls and repainting interior of garage. Replaced front door and storm door, repainted front door. Powerwashed and restained/sealed deck. Replaced every light fixture in the house. The price listed includes labor costs and some of the materials, including all of the paint and paint supplies, but most of the cost of the materials (faucets, light fixtures, hardware, tile) is not included in the above price. Craig had me purchase most of the materials myself which gave me lots of flexibility, he gave me great suggestions on where to go to get the best prices, and then he and his crew handled the labor and installation.

.Job was very well done and everything was taken care of.
Description of Work: I had them remodel part of the master bathroom early this year. After that, I hired them again to replace all wood baseboards with travertine baseboards throughout the house, tile work n the kitchen, and also had them re-do my laminate staircase. The job was very well done. The staircase is amazing made with a combination of granite and thick hardwood. Everything looks just perfect.
After deciding to remodel our guest and master bathrooms, my husband and I began our search of Angie's list for prospective contractors. We read dozens of reviews before we picked three contractors who all had all received excellent comments. From reading all the reviews, we had a general idea of how much would be charged for each job and what the lead times would probably be. We contacted Mr. Hamilton in January 2012 for a quote to remodel our guest and master bathrooms. When he arrived, he was very courteous and immediately began to take measurements of our bathrooms and took down notes as to what changes we wanted. He was here for nearly ninety minutes, as we discussed in detail all the changes we would like to have done to each bathroom, politely answering the many questions I had and easing many of my concerns. Before Mr. Hamilton left, I asked him what the lead times were for new jobs, should we accept his quote, and he informed me that he was nearly six weeks out. From reading all the reviews online, we had already got the impression that Mr. Hamilton wasn?t the quickest contractor, but appeared to be meticulous at detail. Since he appeared to be so busy and well liked, we were more than willing to wait if it meant we?d get the job done exactly as we wanted. Due to the fact that we were asking Mr. Hamilton to install radiant flooring into both bathrooms, the initial quote took a few days longer than we had expected so that he could get pricing on the items he would be purchasing for us. When we received the actual quote, each bathroom was broken down with line by line costs for each alteration he would be making to the bathroom: removal of exiting floor, tub, tile and wallboard to painting of the walls and hauling off the waste. He had informed us during our initial meeting that his quote would include all of his labor costs for the job and if there were any items we decided not to do (like paint the bathroom) he could easily remove that from the quoted price. I really liked that regarding Mr. Hamilton. It was one of the major reasons we chose him over the other two contractors we had received quotes from as well. Our decision to choose Craig, as our contractor, was based on several factors. First, his prices were comparable to the other companies. His quote was itemized line by line and was very easy to read and make adjustments to if need be. He required less money down than the other contractors we contacted. We also appreciated the fact that we could purchase all the items we wanted to use in our bathroom on our own and Craig only charged us the for installation labor. Lastly, he genuinely seemed interested in doing the best quality job possible. The job that Hamilton Interiors did for us included a complete remodel of our daughters/guest bathroom. This included the removal and disposal of the existing floor, tub, tile and wallboard. Initially we had planned to reuse our old toilet and pedestal sink, but after I began purchasing new items, I decided to replace them as well. Craig had no issues with the change and he and his coworker took extra care with their removal so that I could give the items to a family member who was planning to remodel a bathroom as well. He also installed a radiant flooring system with thermostat control. He had no issues when I asked that we bring in an outside electrician to install the new electrical circuit and made an adjust on the quoted cost. He installed a new tub and shower, toilet and vanity with all new fixtures. New floor tile, four feet of tile wainscot with glass accents around the room as well as a tile tub surround. Craig also added a comment to his quote that he would install any decorative items we would like to add to the room, such as towel bars, for a small fee per item. I really liked that this was added separately because it allowed me to purchase items throughout the remodeling process and chose which ones I wanted Craig to install and which we could easily add ourselves. In the end, he added three new ADA grip bars, a towel rack with shelf, a shower curtain rod and several robe hooks. The initial quote for our guest bathroom was just under $5200. The actual labor and materials costs for Mr. Hamilton ended up being $5500, which included the cost of the radiant flooring, paint, as well as a few minor setbacks we had which were of no fault of Mr. Hamilton. In addition, we spent just over $3000 for porcelain and glass tile, a toilet, tub, vanity, sink, mirror, bathroom fixtures and decorative items. My initial goal was to keep the remodel under $10,000 which we thankfully managed to do even with a few unforeseen issues. I would highly recommend Hamilton Interiors to anyone -- with one hint of caution. If time constraints are an issue and you are looking to have your remodeling job done quickly, you may want to look elsewhere. Because the stress of having the job done quickly may overshadow the fact that the end product is an amazing job done. However, if time is not an issue and you want to see your room transformed into something beautiful, then Hamilton Interiors is definitely the company to call. Craig managed to take a very small, track home bathroom and make it even better than we had dreamed it could be. Our guest bathroom is used mainly by our preteen daughter and guests who visit, so we wanted it to feel warm and inviting, yet fun for her. In our opinion, the bathroom remodel is absolutely beautiful. We loved the attention to detail Mr. Hamilton had on all the tile work and highly recommend his work to everyone. I used to cringe whenever I walked past our old guest bath, but now I find myself stopping and smiling every time I pass. I can?t wait to remodel our master bath now.
Description of Work: We had our guest bathroom completely remodeled. This included the removal and disposal of the existing floor, tub, toilet, sink, tile and wallboard. The installation of a heated flooring system with thermostat control, new tub/shower, toilet, vanity and mirror with all new fixtures. The installation of new supply stops and flex lines at the toilet and sink. Texturing and paint to the walls and ceiling. Installation of a new tile floor, four feet of tile wainscot with glass accents around the room as well as a tile tub surround and alcove. As well as the installation of three new ADA grip bars, a towel rack with shelf, a curved shower curtain rod and several robe hooks.
My first ever renovation experience, and first use of Angie's list. It was great. Craig walked us through the process, kept us informed of scheduled work, helped us pick out some of the selected material. He also turned us to a fantastic source for the granite. We couldn't be more pleased. We already have scheduled him for our master bath renovation.
Description of Work: Placed granite counters, removed wall paper and painted kitchen walls, replaced linoleum floor with tile, and replaced backsplash tile above counter.
From quote to finish Craig is a consummate professional. He spend a considerable amount of time listening to our ideas, goals, budget and questions. He provided helpful ideas of his own to consider accounting for overall age of home, best return on investment, cost savings and design. Craig does most of the work himself and is a perfectionist. The quality and fit of everything is excellent. He carefully timed the process to make sure our kitchen was only unavailable for 1 day (I've heard/read stories of this being several days or a week for a similar remodel)! I've already recommended him to many friends and we are going to use him for additional remodel work in our home. More reviews to come!
Description of Work: Craig and his granite crew did an OUTSTANDING job on our kitchen and full wet bar remodel. Full granite countertops and new fixtures and plumbing for both areas. Granite for center island with ceramic cook top. Installation of double convection ovens including a completely new 220V circuit, adjusting carpentry for installation (looks perfect, as if it were original). New tumbled marble backsplash, walls, and side/upper of bay window area.

I didn't like anything about them. I contacted him about a $30,000 bathroom job. He came out and took measurements. He spent two hours here. He said he would get me a quote with more details. I never heard back from him. I ended up calling him and asking if he forgot about me, he said yes, and he would get the quote to me. I still have not heard back from him and now he has lost a $30,000 bathroom job. At first his responsiveness was wonderful and then he stopped contacting me. It is such a shame because all of his work was beautiful online.
Description of Work: Hamilton Interior Finishes came out to give me a quote on a complete remodel of the master bathroom.
