Craig and his guys did a great job. Craig is very conscientious about what the customer wants. He does not hesitate to contact you if he has any questions or if there is a change in plans. He stays in touch to let you know what's going on, when it will be finished and the cost. I still have countertops and backsplash to install and will definitely contact Craig when the time comes and money permits.
Description of Work: I had all of my kitchen cabinets sanded and painted. The island had cheap unattractive wood on the sides - had this wood replaced, the drawers sanded, and the island stained. Added hardware to all cabinets and drawers. All the walls were covered with wallpaper - had this removed and then had the walls and the ceiling textured and painted. All the woodwork and doors in the kitchen were painted also. The floor still had the original linoleum from the when the house was built 25 years ago - this was removed and had tile installed. Also had the old fluorescent light and old fan removed. Can lights were installed, new ceiling fan and hanging lights over the island.

As with the previous project, it all went incredibly smooth. He works to accommodate the homeowners schedule, and is right there when he says he will be. Craig is a professional in every aspect of the project. He oversees all the work, arriving in the morning to give the sub-contractors their instructions, and coming back to inspect the work that has been done asking us to also look very carefully at what had been done and encouraging us to let him know if we see an issue he didn't. He is very particular about how the work is done and that the quality is all that it can be. His subs have the highest regard for him. They do great work too, are pleasant to have in the house, are respectful of the homeowners....we just can't say enough good about all of them. We would leave the house during the day with never a concern. Our little dogs didn't even bother them. His painters were super, the plumber, carpenter....they were just the nicest people, as is Craig himself. He came back after everything was finished for a final review and we were able to meet his wife. They are a great couple. If he makes a recommendation about a project, listen carefully to him because he's had a lot of experience and knows what he's doing. We listed to him and are thrilled with the results. He honestly seems to be concerned about people and that they are doing the right thing and not wasting money. He made suggestions that saved us money and built more value in our home. Craig will the be the first person on our list to contact for any project we tackle in the future. I just wish we could take him up north with us for our other projects there.
Description of Work: This is the second time we have used Hamilton Interior Finishes on a project. The first time they painted our kitchen cabinets and kitchen, removed wall paper and painted two bathrooms plus installed crown molding in a bedroom. He installed a door where there was only a pass thru previously. To install the door wood flooring had to be removed and reinstalled. The door and flooring looked like they were part of the original build and you couldn't tell the floor had been touched when you compared it to the rest of the room. We were so pleased, we had them back to install granite kitchen counters, new sink and faucet as well as additional crown molding in another room, plus painting a dressing room. The cost above includes the removal of the old counters, sink and fixtures, installing the granite and new stainless under mount sink with grates, new faucet and the finishing needed to due to the difference in the old counter shape and size as well as the other projects. As it is with all his work, everything is cleaned up and all the old materials are removed and disposed of.

The work was outstanding. Mr. Hamilton and his crew did the work promptly and professionally, keeping me informed of the process, the next steps to be taken, and giving me alternatives that were time- and cost- saving. This is the third phase of work for which I have contracted Hamilton Interior Finishes (Phase 1 and 2 were downstairs work including a master bath/kitchen remodel, and painting), and I have plans to use this company for, at least, one more project.
Description of Work: Complete remodel (Paint, carpet, tile) of upstairs (4 bedrooms, den and 2 baths), including electrical work and adding a 35 square foot inset/alcove in one room. He also provided contacts for cabinet maker for custom work.

Outstanding! Craig remodeled our last home several years ago and the same crew was still with him. It can be a little tough to get on his schedule since Craig still does a lot of the work himself and is very detailed. However, once he has you scheduled, he follows through and he is worth the wait. His granite group is great too!

This work was completed around two years ago. We totally painted the interior of the home as well. I was unaware of any concerns. You appeared to be completely satisfied upon completion of your project. As always I can be reached at 469 767- 4681 or email hamiltoninterior@yahoo.com. May God Bless. Craig

Our first contractor was an absolute nightmare. Craig and his team swooped in and saved the day! Craig listened to our ideas and was honest and realistic in his recommendations for our space. The work done is of very high quality - tile, countertop and cabinets are gorgeous! We had a small leak as a result of the previous owner's diy repair work, and Craig's team came back out after the project was done to fix the problem free of charge. We've passed his contact information to family and friends. Craig's team is prompt, friendly and knowledgable. Highly recommend!

We had a small but detailed tile job in our shower. Craigs people did an excellent job on the tile and the underlying structures. In this case he was willing to take the time to do it right, letting all the cement portions cure properly before proceeding. There was a lot of wait time between actual working hours, but we are satisfied it will last. We would use him again. FYI, my pet peeve with contractors is when they are in a rush to finish to get to the next job, I saw none of that here.

This is the fourth project we have asked Hamilton Interior Finishes to do. Craig and his team are very professional. They arrive when expected, complete the work requested, make suggestions for associated work that would optimize the look of the space, and charge fair prices for the job. We would recommend them without hesitation. They do pretty much anything: carpentry, plumbing, flooring, painting, wallpaper (if I had known that I would have asked them to do the papering as well as everything else; but I had committed that part of the job to another provider). Craig always kept us well informed of the progress and expected completion. We are very happy and will likely use them again when the next project is on the horizon.

Craig's quote was reasonable, he was prompt, kept me informed, stayed to budget, excellent quality and completed within a reasonable timeframe.
Description of Work: Painted the interior of our house, repaired and painted some of the exterior and remodeled a bathroom
Because I had worked directly with the cabinet company for my kitchen remodel, I worked directly with them in designing the bathroom cabinets. Craig coordinated installation of the granite, sinks, and the frameless glass door. He and his crew completed the remainder of the remodel. Since I wanted the same color granite as the kitchen granite for the bathroom countertops, Craig was able to obtain the bid from that company for me at the beginning. I located a slab I liked they picked it up. Craig coordinated with them for the measurement and installation of the granite after the cabinets were installed. After I selected tile for the showers and tub surround to coordinate with my cabinets, countertops, and existing tile floors, Craig provided me with a bid for the selected tile. Once I approved the bid, Craig picked up the tile and delivered it to my garage. The new tubs, faucets, and other plumbing items were also delivered to my garage. This remodel required a lot of coordination between Craig and myself, not only with regard to the tile selection but also the selection of new tubs. Once the cabinet, granite, sink, and faucet were installed in the half bath, it was complete. The one-piece fiberglass combination tub/shower enclosure in the upstairs bath was replaced by a self-skirted rectangular tub with a tile enclosure. They stripped the shower/tub area to the studs all the way up to the ceiling, installed the new tub and leveled it. They installed greenrock (so the cement board would bring the walls out to the proper depth around the tub for tile) then cement board. Then they created two recessed boxes in the long shower wall, tiled, grouted, and sealed the new enclosure, re-installed the plumbing and shower curtain rod, and touched up the paint. The master bath (MB) shower was completely demolished, including the shower pan, and rebuilt. Both the shower area and the MB tub area were stripped to the studs, with the shower stripped to the ceiling. Rebuilding the shower was the most complicated because building the pan is a multi-step process of layers of concrete (sloped from the walls to the drain), impermeable membrane, more concrete and installation of the upper drain, with drying times in between. They installed cement board, including the ceiling over the shower, and made the recessed boxes then tiled, grouted, and sealed the shower. The shower ceiling used the same 13-inch tiles as the tub surround and skirt, and the shower floor was tiled with 2”x2” tiles. The old oval-shaped self-skirted MB tub was replaced by a drop-in oval tub. They built a deck and skirt for the tub, installed the new tub and leveled it, tiled the tub deck, reinstalled the faucets, and connected the tub drain. They then installed cement board and tiled, grouted, and sealed the tub area, including the skirt. While they were careful in all phases of the remodel, I was quite impressed with the care taken in installing the tile in the upstairs bathroom. The shower/tub area is essentially three walls of 13-inch tile to the ceiling, and a level was used along the top and across the face of every row to ensure the tiles were straight, level, and even. The MB shower didn’t require this treatment since I chose 18-inch tiles for the walls. Tiling the shower ceiling was another impressive job. They told me they mix the thin set a little thicker so it will hold the tiles without sagging. For all tiling, strips of painter’s tape were used to tape each tile to its neighbors on all sides and hold the spacers in place. Craig and his crew do an excellent job of cleaning up. Besides quality work, one of the other things I appreciate about Craig is the thoroughness of his explanations in advance of the work. There are never any surprises with Craig. They just have one small thing to complete and it will be finished. … I love my new bathrooms!
Description of Work: The remodel of my two and a half bathrooms took place in the latter half of 2013. The remodel involved custom cabinets, granite countertops with porcelain sinks, granite backsplashes and window ledges, porcelain tile shower and tub enclosures, installation of new tubs and sink faucets, a frameless shower door, and some reworking of existing plumbing. Four companies were involved in my bathroom remodel. Craig Hamilton of Hamilton Interior Finishes was general contractor for the job. Craig has done several remodeling jobs for me. I like to use him because he and his crews do excellent work and I know the job will be done right the first time; this one was no different. Total cost of the remodel was $20,000, including cabinets, tile, and new fixtures. I am reviewing the other three companies under their own names, but I was extremely pleased with all involved.

Craig and his crew removed the old doors, including jambs, thresholds, and interior and exterior trim. They removed the locksets from the doors for re-installation in the new doors. The new doors were installed, including new thresholds, and new interior and exterior trim were added. The new jambs were prepped for the locks. The doors were adjusted for a snug fit and the locksets re-installed. The front door required considerably more exterior work than the back door due to the brick on the front of the house; the trim around the back door is simple 1x4. All exterior trim consists of hardi-plank. Interior trim is composed of fluted 1x4 set atop decorative blocks at the bottom with decorative medallions at the upper corners. They caulked all seams. I didn?t have them paint the trim because I like to paint and would save a little money. They did an excellent job of cleanup. The new doors make a huge difference in the appearance of the house and an enormous difference in the weather tightness of the house. The old doors leaked like a sieve. I?m quite pleased with the work Craig and his crew did. I have used Craig Hamilton numerous times.
Description of Work: I’m a little behind in reviewing Hamilton Interior Finishes for my door remodel. The remodel of my front and back doors took place in early 2013. The remodel involved replacement of my front and back doors with pre-hung fiberglass doors, pre-drilled for locks, by Feather River and purchased from Home Depot. The front door has a chocolate mahogany stained finish on both sides. It has a ¾ light composed of a leaded glass layer sandwiched between two tempered smooth glass layers. The back door has a painted finish that’s antique white on the inside and hopsack (a buckskin shade) on the outside. It has a half light that’s composed of mini-blinds sandwiched between two layers of tempered glass. The total cost of the remodel was $2,600, with the doors comprising $1500 of the cost

We’ve used them a couple of times on our bathroom. We’re considering them again for some work we wanted done on our doorway. My wife had it all designed for the most part but he had some suggestions on what we may want to add. We had a hard time getting on the schedule because he’s pretty busy. But once we did, everything went fine. He does the install and he works with local vendors that he’ll recommend you go check out. He shies away from trying to decide for you. They have a whole showroom type thing. His crew was really good.

Craig was very responsive about setting dates for the work and rescheduled because of our delays. Once the date of work was set, he and his team were right on time, worked in a timely manner and cleaned up areas as they worked. He is knowledgeable about his work and has offered good suggestions. We already have another project planned and will go to Craig for his expertise. Great experience!

Description of Work: I called to get an estimate for the services I wanted done. The company never returned my call.
lThis is the second house that Craig has worked on for me. We gutted the shower, garden tub, etc. in the Master Bath. Plumbing was original to the house and had to be replaced. Removed wallcovering and dated wainscot paneling, countertops, sheet mirror, flourescent tube lighting and popcorn ceilings. This bathroom now looks like a spa. Craig and his guys were meticulous and detail oriented in all phases of this project. The only thing we kept in this bath was the doors and cabinetry. Craig installed new downlighting, textured and painted ceilings and walls, new granite countertops, framed mirrors, jetted tub, raised ceiling and head in shower, new frameless glass shower enclosure, new commode, vent fans and detailed custom tile work in shower, tub area and on floor. He also painted the master closet shelving, walls and ceiling. The kitchen was next with removal of old laminate countertops, wall covering, paneling and flooring. His guys patiently stripped the wood cabinets and added a new one to match existing, then stained all to a perfect match. New granite countertops, custom tile backsplash, tile flooring, down lighting, installed new microwave and cooktop, new pantry shelving, hardware and painting. His guys were punctual and professional throughout. They are very careful to save all "parts" of cabinet hardware, window treatment parts, etc. until the job is complete to make sure nothing critical accidentally disappears. Craig is very good about thinking through the process to anticipate any problems and be prepared for them. Will use him again for sure.

Craig recently remodeled our master bathroom. We absolutely love it! It's like a bathroom in a luxery hotel. Everything was gutted except for garden tub & toilet (we had recently upgraded it). Our old bathroom had horrific carpet, brass fixtures, small shower and no linen closet. The carpet was replaced with beautiful travertine. Craig was able to reconfigure our bathroom so that we were able to gain a huge walk-in shower. He was also able to turn a dead space in the wall to a much needed linen closet. Craig did everything that he said he would. The bathroom turned out much better than I had imagined. Craig and his crew are wonderful to work with. I highly recommend Hamilton Interiors if you want superior quality at a reasonable price.
Description of Work: Gutted the master bathroom, reconfigured shower layout, installed new lights, exhaust fan, plumbing, faucets, travertine, shower glass, painted walls and trim, new vanity with granite countertop, installed granite window sill and granite on shower seat, replaced old door knobs and added knobs, installed misc items, etc

The workers arrived on time and worked consistently until departure. They cleaned constantly during the day and left the house usable at the end of the day. They were respectful of our needs. They were careful when working and would catch problems before we would. Mr. Hamilton supervised the job, but the workers needed no supervision. They were considerate with our mother who uses a walker. We would definitely use them again. It was a very satisfying and relatively painless experience.

This review is being written over a year after the services were performed, which is actually good for Craig, the owner of this company. Had it been written closer to the time of the work, my emotions would have been at work and this review would be much worse. As it stands, I am no longer upset, but wish to make sure Angie's List works for its members the way it is intended: by providing the innocent, honest purchaser of good and services with the information they need to pick a contractor with which to do business. Craig is an affable person, even if perhaps a bit too talkative. He is also a talented and knowledgeable contractor, in my untrained opinion. What he is not, always, is punctual, responsive, or willing to do what he needs to do to correct his mistakes. He also tends to deflect criticism and responsibility for his mistakes (or mistakes he is ultimately responsible for) onto others. For example, he never made good on his promise to clean up the motor oil that leaked onto my concrete repeatedly from one of his crew member's leaky truck. He just blamed the crew member, but my driveway never got cleaned up. I can't remember what we paid for the work anymore; it's been too long. Let's assume it was a fair price for what we got, so no complaints there. But here is what we got: we got a bathroom remodel that even a home improvement novice would describe as merely serviceable, not excellent. Shower and floor tile grout lines are uneven, tub doesn't drain well (and hasn't since it was installed), tiles were chipped during installation and never got replaced as promised, shower and toilet caulking is sloppy, etc. The main issue we have is with our vanity, which sat in our garage unopened by Craig for weeks (that's another issue: this project dragged on a lot longer than it should have because Craig likes to talk, takes a lot of smoke breaks, and generally works kinda slow) despite repeated requests for him to look at it, measure it, check the plumbing connections, etc. well in advance of installing it. As you might predict, the vanity went in at the end of the project, at that point everyone who has ever had work done on their house knows well -- the point when the CONTRACTOR is ready to get paid and get out of your house so they can go make money on another project. So when Craig saw the vanity for the first time and the plumbing connections, he finally realized it didn't fit perfectly, and the connections were not what he expected. Long story short, he had to saw down the drawers to make them fit, and improvise on the plumbing. The result: our vanity shelves not only look bad because they were just sawed off rough and in a hurry, but they actually scrape against the molding on our door when you open them, which is of course, destroying our molding. Top that off with the fact that our plumbing connection that Craig improvised leaks from time to time, and you don't know it until you go into the drawer for something (which could be weeks in between inspections), and you see/feel water everywhere. Craig was made aware of all of these things upon completion of the project, plus some other issues that I didn't even bother mention here: his response was basically, "I'm done over there, and I ain't comin' back...unless you pay me to come back and fix my mistakes, in which case I'm happy to come back!" Suffice it to say, we never asked him back; we just deal with the mediocrity that is our main bathroom. The sad part of this whole saga is that Craig has the potential to be so much better than this! I actually got to know him during this process and came to like him personally. To his credit, when Home Depot wanted to rip me off by not honoring a coupon for my chosen bathtub, it was CRAIG who took time out of his day to fight for me with the store and eventually got me my tub. I appreciated that a lot. But we also did things for Craig, like give him and his crew beer if they put in a long day. H***, my wife baked him COOKIES one day. I also gave the dude free legal advice from time to time about how to deal with some of his deadbeat customers. But, sadly, in the end, none of that mattered, and Craig turned out to be just another contractor out there in DFW, not exactly fleecing people, but certainly taking a page out of the old Steve Miller playbook and "Takin' the Money and Running"... All true. I put my name on this. Eric Johnson

I solicited three bids for this project. Craig was the first to respond. He gave the most complete description of the job he would perform. The work took one and half days from start to finish. The measurements were precise. The main countertop is an L shape. We had trouble finding the seem where the two pieces of granite were joined. It was that good. We were able to go to the granite supplier and pick out our granite. This works a lot better than looking at a small square of granite and trying to imagine how that would look covering all of the counter tops. This is the second time that we have used Hamilton Interiors. We also used them to replace and remodel our shower area in the bathroom. They do great work. Craig provides oversight for the work that he does not do himself.
Description of Work: Replace old formica kitchen counter tops with Granite. Install new stainless steel sink and faucet. Install new garbage disposal.
Due to water damage, had to have existing kitchen completely demoed and replaced. Having gotten two previous bids from Project Managers who left me with the impression that they were more interested in the volume of work versus quality, I found reviews for Hamilton Interior Finishes on Angie's List. Met with Craig to discuss scope of work. This was the first time I have had extensive work like this done. In discussing the project with Craig, it was immediately obvious that he is very experienced and knowledgeable. I also appreciated the fact that Craig took the time to make extremely helpful suggestions regarding design elements which would not have occurred to me. He followed up in a timely manner with a bid. Existing kitchen cabinets were demoed, appliances removed and drywall removed and replaced where necessary. Kitchen, breakfast nook and hallway wallpaper was stripped. Walls and ceiling were patched, primed and painted. Dark wood molding, baseboards, four doors and a window seat were primed and painted white. HVAC condensate line was rerouted. Plumbing was capped off; wires were run for undercabinet lighting; new electric line and breaker added. Overhead flood lights were replaced with LED lighting and new switch and dimmer added. After cabinet installation, Craig had his granite rep out to take laser measurements for new granite countertops. Granite countertops and undermount sink were installed. Some new and some existing appliances were installed. Plumbing, undercabinet lighting, backsplash, hardware installed. Craig personally worked hard on new vent hood installation so that it vented to the outside. A damper for new vent hood had to be installed via attic access. This is just one example of Craig's ability to competently solve problematic situations which arise with construction projects. Craig has an amazing eye for detail and design. He even changed out all wall switches and outlets so that the color was more appropriate for the space. I appreciate the fact that Craig and his men always treated my job with the same professionalism and quality work they give to the high-end remodels they do. They always arrived on time or a few minutes before and made sure site was clean. I feel fortunate that Craig was able to fit my job into his schedule. His former clients will wait until he has time to work them in when they need additional work done. I now know why. With Craig and his men, you get the best of the best. My new kitchen is absolutely beautiful.

The work that Craig Hamilton, Vincent, and Shorty did was absolutely top quality. Their experience in remodeling showed in everything they did, and they were extremely professional. They were here when they said they would be, and if there were any issues Craig was fast to let us know and then we jointly decided what to do. I got three different bids for this work, and selected Craig not only for the price, but mainly because as I talked with him I could tell that he knew what he was doing and had a passion for this work. Now that the work is complete I can tell you that my initial impressions were accurate. Craig and all of the guys on his crew were absolutely perfectionists, and made sure that everything they did was done right! I HIGHLY recommend these guys, and I will hire them again when we do a little more of this type work next year.

He is excellent. I am continuing to use him. He is just awesome and knows how to work. His crew is the same way. I've been through many workers and I have stuck with him because he knows what he is doing.
