Big job on an old house in bad condition, so naturally there were many problems, but Craig never faltered and was able to resolve/fix every issue, no matter what it was or how long it took. He has lots of experience in so many areas, so we felt we could trust everything to him. He is precise and meticulous in his work. He goes for the best, not just what is good enough, but what is super. He was always willing to change/redo when things didn't work out. He was good to discuss all options with us so we could stay informed and make good decisions. Craig helped us find wallpaper at a good price. He helped us with low VOC paints and he is always very clean when he works and cleans up afterwards. He worked around our schedule with great patience. My mother (who is 80) and I stayed in the house during the process, so it made for slow going and lots of frustration. I'd move everything out of one room into another room, and then shift everything around again for the next area. Basically we lived in a construction zone with everything completely torn up for almost 3 months. But sometimes Craig was waiting on us also, because mom had surgery twice during that time, and there were always extra doctor appointments, and days when she needed rest, etc., or I needed more time to get an area packed up and cleaned out. This is not a project for the faint of heart, but it was well worth it, because we have a new house, and it served as a very healing project after the loss of my father a few months ago, and now we feel like living again. So thanks, Craig, for getting us on our feet.
Description of Work: 1500 sq.ft house built 1956: Entire house update: Extensive interior wall repairs & painting (including all closets & shelving), paint interior of kitchen cabinets, repair/sand/paint cabinets in 2 bathrooms, move wall lighting fixtures in both baths, & mirrors/medicine cabinets, etc., repair/replace dry wall due to termite damage, window box repairs, ceiling repairs/retexturing, replace AC vent grills on walls and ceilings, remove carpets and old shoe molding in whole house, remove/replace wall paper in living room and bath and entryway, retexture walls and woodwork where needed, remove louvered doors to living room and den & repair door moulding, install new curtain rods throughout. Paint an interior brick wall in the den.

Fantastic. Craig discussed every aspect of the job with us while we changed our minds endlessly. We finally decided on procelain tiles (laid on the diagonal) for the kitchen, laminate for the den, and delicate surgical repairs to the tiled entryway. Before laying the kitchen tile, repairs were needed on the original linoleum flooring, which was cracked and worn down to the subflooring in places and out of level. The quality of the work was always of the highest caliber. An excellent job was done on cutting and form-fitting the tiles into a crooked area. It took a week for the kitchen, and one day for the den and entry. We were especially happy with the repairs to the old entryway tiles. The grout color matches perfectly, cracked and broken tiles were replaced and it is impossible to tell where it was done. The laminate in the den compliments the wood paneling and makes a wonderful transition to the kitchen. Craig works fast, is efficient, stays on schedule, and delivers what he promises or more.
Description of Work: Repair/install 3 different floors in the kitchen, den, and entryway of a 1956 house, including new shoe molding throughout the 400 sq.ft. area.

Wonderful. Everything that Craig Hamilton personally touches is of the highest quality craftsmanship. He is talented, smart, loves his work, and takes great pride in perfecting the details. His work makes this house look nicer and classier than it actually is. We wanted a rather special look for the interior door frame, so Craig searched forever to find a very wide panel which, when stained, matched the door and perfectly complimented the wood paneling. We are meticulous and hard to please, but Craig was easy going and took all our fussiness in stride and did a great job of taking care of us. However the door manufacturer, Jeld-Wen, caused us many headaches regarding the screen doors, and we still have unresolved issues after 90 days. We installed the door on July 7th. Understandably, now the rainy fall weather is delaying the painting on the outside. Thankfully, Craig stepped in to correct many of the problems that the manufacturer was incapable of adequately addressing. We fully trust that Craig will take care of every detail until it is done to perfection. My advice - do not order a screen door through Jeld-Wen. They are very slow to respond and must be prodded with many follow up emails & phone calls. The screens are way over -priced, cheaply made, flimsy, do not latch well, and don't keep out insects. Without Craig's help on these screens, we would really be in a bad way. Thank you, Craig.
Description of Work: Replace a rickety old (inoperative) sliding glass patio door on a 1956 house with custom-made 3-panel french doors including double screens. Tear out old door and rebuild the opening to accomodate the french doors. Paint exterior surround, and stain the inside to match the wood paneling in the den.

The masonite siding on the house was showing decay, especially from rain which caused it to bloat and bubble. One spot had been patched badly in the past, causing it to crack and small pieces were coming loose. Rather than just re-patching that spot, after consulting with Craig Hamilton we decided to replace all siding on the back of the house. Craig provided a thorough estimate, and the work done was exactly as he promised during the estimate. The project was started within a few days after we agreed to do it, and everything was completed in about three days (one weather delay). They were very attentive to picking up nails and debris at the end of each day, so there was barely any disruption of our routine during the project. The paint job looks outstanding.
Description of Work: Replaced old masonite siding on the back of house with new Hardie siding. Replaced trip on back side as well. Painted entire back side.

The wall paper on an exterior wall of our shower started coming loose. We peeled it back and found mold and mildew underneath. We received two estimates. Hamilton Interior Finishes came out promptly for their estimate and beat the other estimate by several hundred dollars. Hamilton demolished our old shower and carried off the material. They found that the old shower had been poorly built by Beazer homes and should was guaranteed to leak at some point. The wall was mildewed and wet under the tile. A built in seat in the shower was built with scrap wood and had gaps that were leaking under the seat. The area was full of mold. Craig explained thoroughly what had happened and the steps that he was taking in his construction to prevent this type of mess in the future. Craig cleaned up the old mess made be Beazer and let it all dry out completely from the leaking before starting reconstruction. He used concrete board instead of the coated drywall that Beazer had previously used. He built the shower pan out of concrete on top of a liner rather than replacing the cheap plastic pan previously installed. He brought pictures of his previous work and spent some time with us designing the new shower to blend in with other tile that we had in the bathroom and adjacent bedroom. He was extremely meticulous! I watched them use a floodlight and level to get the concrete base for the shower floor just right. It is flat where is should be and angled the way it should be to drain properly. The tile work is great but, it doesn't show the meticulous work done underneath the tile. Hamilton Interiors installed a heavy glass that does not need the stick supports to hold it together. It looks more like a a custom shower and not like a track home or a trailer. This was the best experience I have ever had with a contractor of any kind. Craig was always punctual and delivered what he promised when he promised. Craig was also good about responding to e-mails.

We hired a contractor prior to hamilton and they really demolished the bathroom. Hamilton Interiors were then hired to help rebuild the mess left behind by another contractor. They did an excellent job with helping us pick out tiles, to sticking with the quote given at the beginning of the job and getting the job done in a timely mannter. The bathroom looks great now and would highly recommend Mr. Hamilton as a contractor.

On June 4, 2009, we received a citation from the City of Plano Property Standards Department requiring repairs be made to the exterior our home within thirty days in order for our residence to comply with the city's ordinances. I obtained Mr. Craig Hamilton's name and address from a list of contractors provided by realtors whom we have known for several years. Mr. Hamilton reviewed the citation, toured the exterior of our home, conferenced with me at length and in detail as to what our specific requirements were, and provided samples of building materials needed to complete our project. He made accurate measurements required to purchase building materials in meticulous detail at our first meeting unsure as to whether his company would receive our work. Mr. Hamilton provided us with an estimate within two days. He obtained a permit from the City of Plano and began work within two business days after we reviewed several bids from other companies. Mr. Hamilton's crew are true craftsman dedicated to performing exceptional work in triple digit temperatures. My husband and I are very satisfied with Hamilton Interior Finishes and plan on hiring them for future projects. I highly reccomend this company.
Description of Work: Dismantled all existing rotten wood from the exterior front, sides, and fascia of home. Removed all materials removed from the exterior surfaces from the property. Reframed front bay and kitchen windows with hardi board. Installed new hardi board panels and hardi trim to the entire side and fascia of home. Replaced cedar ornamental trim to areas to retain Tudor architectural style. Prepared entire exterior other than brick facade for paint by caulking, and priming all areas except those containing hardi board as this material is already primed. Caulked surfaces between brick and other exterior surfaces. Painted all surface areas of home except brick facade with three complimentary colors of exterior paint containing a sheen. Obtained all proper permits from city. Inspected and consulted with construction crew several times daily and performed a walk through with owners daily.

Craig was friendly and helpful from the beginning. We had originally received the bid before Christmas, but delayed starting until after the holidays. Craig and/or his helper was at my house every morning as scheduled. They were polite and cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. Craig was more than patient with my difficulty in choosing a faux finish color. He must have painted 10-12 choices on the wall for me to pick from! He had to move electrical outlets around the sink twice because of design changes we made. He was always understanding and acommodated the changes without fuss. He was doing such a fabulous job with the bathroom that we opted to have him replace the tile in our kitchen and hall bath, as well. From start to finish, he was at our house several weeks, but by the end, he felt like family. The glass company he recommended also did a great job with the frameless shower enclosure. We are hoping to have him texture the walls in our kitchen and hall bath. However, he's so busy now, it's hard to get on his schedule.
Description of Work: Craig remodeled our master bathroom to include: wallpaper removal, then textured walls/faux finish; replaced linoleum with 16" travertine tile; removed marble tub surround and replaced with travertine; demo/expanded current shower, built pony wall and tiled shower with travertine and tumbled stone; replaced sink/tub/shower fixtures; replaced and repositioned vanity lighting; moved electrical outlets (twice!)

Craig Hamilton and his crew are experienced and meticulous in their work. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship exceeds expectations. They do the little things we, average homeowners, would not think to ask for in the agreement. For example, like most North Dallas homes built in the 7o's, we have a wet bar in the living area where we had the work done. Underneath the bar's plinth, the builder had just left it open. It was not noticeable unless one sat in a certain spot on the fireplace hearth. Craig filled the opening with a flooring strip giving it a finished look. Our stairs are exposed in this contemporary two-story living area. He cut and stained as nearly as possible to the flooring the individual steps. The step tops he applied the flooring with a molding to hid the floorings' edge. It came off awesome. I can't recommend Hamilton Interiors high enough. They are honest people who never find the right time to do the wrong thing.

I called Craig to replace some rotten wood trim on the exterior of my house and he was exactly on time to give my first estimate. He walked me through some options I should consider so that I could make an informed decision. He also mentioned some things I didn't know that I needed to consider. He was very helpful and very polite. Professional. He told me he would have to go home and get an estimate and would send it later that evening. I was anxious to see what this amount would be, and just as sure as he said, I got it that evening. I've had other contractors say they will do things, and not do them, so I appreciated this. I liked the estimate he gave me and called him to do the work. He called back and we set up a time, and he showed up on time (even early) with his helper. I was a little worried leaving my garage open all day so that he could access my backyard, but in the end he took great care making sure to lock up when he was done. He told me it would take a day to finish, but it wound up taking 2 days. He and his partner did great work. He even called me later because he thought that when he finished he couldn't really tell how good it looked because it was too dark and wanted to stop by and see it the next morning in good light. He stopped by just to check but decided it needed more paint. So he stayed and did it. This was at no addt'l cost to me. I requested a couple of addt'l things done after the first estimate so that the final price was not what he initially said it would be, but it only went up by a bit. In the end, he cares about his work, and he will go the extra lengths to ensure your satisfaction. I have more work I am considering and would definitely call again.

With the new siding and paint, my house looks new!! My house is mostly brick but has some siding. The siding was 25 yr old wood with insect damage and wood rot. I researched siding and decided I wanted Hardie board (cement fiber boards) over the traditional wood or vinyl. I looked at Angie?s list to find three contractors to get bids. One of the bidders was highly rated on Angie?s list but I found the salesman rude (never patronize a potential client) and the bid was over $1000 higher than the other two. The other two bids were nearly the same. I chose Hamilton because he was the one who took the most time with me explaining the process (without talking down to me) and did a thorough bid ? breaking out the individual portions such as the removal of the old siding, the cost of materials, etc. I also liked that he only took payment when the siding was completed to my satisfaction (excluding materials, those are paid when materials are delivered). Hamilton did not do the work himself but instead had a two-man work team. I was able to be home the entire time the work was being done. Because of problems found as the old siding was removed, the process took a bit longer than expected (also due to a couple of sudden thunderstorms). Overall the work is well done, all issues (overspray of paint on windows and patio furniture, etc.) were addressed and fixed before the team left.
Description of Work: Remove old wood siding, soffit and fascia. Replace with Hardie board. Paint.

We had a leak from our upstairs bathroom onto our garage ceiling. After calling the plumbers first, and then the grout man, we called Craig Hamilton. He was there that day and immediately diagnosed the problem and gave us the estimate to repair the problem. The floor and ceiling needed to dry out so we began work on Monday and the job was completed ahead of schedule. Craig was very conscientious about keeping us informed through each step. The quality of workmanship was excellent and they never made a mess! Everything was put back better than before.

This was the best experience I've had with any contractor. Craig was the least expensive, but he came across as the most honest and knowledgeable. The estimate included labor and some of the materials like paint and grout and electrical items. I purchased the cabinets, tile, tub, shower faucet, sinks, sink faucets, countertop and sconces myself. He came out and took measurements and discussed what I wanted to have done. We decided on Hamilton Interior Finishes and started the job Feb 2st. Craig and his assistant showed up promptly every day at 7:30am. They never cancelled and were always polite and covered the floor and cleaned up each day. If I called Craig with a question, he always called me back promptly. Craig did alot of the work himself and he knew what he was doing. I liked the fact that I wasn't hiring someone to just dole the job out to another person. Craig knew what I wanted when we started the remodel and he spoke with me each day. We ordered Kraftmaid cabinets from another vendor and had to wait on the cabinets for 1 week and the quartz countertop from another vendor and waited for 2 weeks for that to arrive. Craig was very patient and worked around the cabinets and countertop arrivals to make sure that everything was ready once those items arrived. He made sure all issues were fixed promptly. His attention to detail was superb. There was a chip in one of the tiles that was set and he had it taken out and put in another tile and you can't tell the difference. The job was finished on March 30. Craig's final invoice totaled out at $5606 and we purchased another $4400 on cabinets, tile, tub, shower faucet, sinks, sink faucets, countertop and sconce. We are already planning on what we want Hamilton Interior Finishes to do next.
Description of Work: Tore out cabinets, old tub, removed wall paper, tile surround that covered entire bathtub area, countertop, floor and and went halfway up the walls. Tore out 2 furdowns and installed. Put up drywall, and added plumbing for a 2 sink configuration where there was originally just one sink. Installed 3 sconces, one can light over toilet and one can light in tub area. Tiled 12" travertine in tub with inset for shampoo bottles and tiled travertine on floor. Installed cabinets, sinks and toilet. Scraped ceiling and put new texture and painted ceiling and walls. Installed new trim and did electrical for new outlet.

What I wanted in a contractor was fair pricing for quality work executed when promised with straight-forward communication. Craig delieved on all wants. He has other jobs going, but he will tell you that up front. He let's you know when he can get to you and follows through. He tells you what he is going to do for the price, does it and keeps you in the loop all the way. Craig finished on time and on budget. We are asking him to complete some interior flooring and painting in the next phase of our renovation.
Description of Work: Our house needed extensive replacement of facia wood, some siding, the front door, vines scraped, primed and painted. In addition, Craig installed a new oven (requiring cabinetry adjustment) and a cooktop that had to be adjusted to fit.

Craig was very quick to return the call and showed up right when he said he would. He seemed knowledgeable and gave some good suggestions for our remodel. He then assured us we would have the bid by e-mail before Thanksgiving, the following week. When I had not received it a week past that, I sent him an e-mail. No response. I waited another week or two and called him. He left me a voice mail, very apologetic, and promised (he used that word, with emphasis) that we'd have it by the following Sunday. That was before Christmas and it's now January 14. I still have not heard from him. I was very disappointed because he had done a major remodel on my best friend's house and it is beautiful. She was very happy with him and the work done. If he did not want the job, I would strongly prefer that he tell me.

Hamilton Interior Finishes is very prompt. Craig explains the charges and the work to be done very clearly and thoroughly; there are no surprises. Craig's personnel are quite skilled, thorough, and careful. They're also friendly and willing to answer questions related to what their doing. I've learned quite a few tricks by watching them. They're also very considerate and painted around a bird's nest that I have on my porch, covering the eggs to protect them. They were careful of my landscaping. And they do excellent cleanup after the job.
Description of Work: I originally contracted Hamilton Interior Finishes to install hardwood floors in my living room and downstairs bedroom. Craig brought photos of work he has done at other homes and recommended a source for the flooring, which was excellent. The downstairs flooring was glued down on concrete slab. I liked the work they did so well that I contracted them to paint the exterior of house and do minor repairs later in the year. They matched the color of the paint to the new gutters I had installed perfectly. I have love, love, loved the hardwood floors so much that I contracted them to install the same hardwood on entire second floor and staircase.

We replaced downstairs carpet (approx 700 sq ft) with engineered wood. I noticed that Craig has very good review and contacted him. I also contacted 2 other installers. Overall, Craig's proposal has more detail and his quote was competitive. Craig is very knowledgeable on the subject. He gave me many good suggestions on material choice and carefully explained details of installation process. He even took a box of extra boards back to the store and got refund for us. I am very impressed with their craftsmanship and attention to details. We went with natural oak and boards came in variant shades. They first sorted through all boards, pick out pieces with minor blemishes and use those for end cuts. Then they mix-n-match good boards to make sure the floor has an even polished look. Guys came to our house on time every morning and kept work area very clean and organized. They clean up at end of everyday and put all tools and glue in one place safely out of reach of my 2 year old. Overall, they finished the job on time and within the budget. We couldn't be happier with the result. I will definitely hire them again.

I had 4 contractors bid the project. One did not submit. One was late. One did not include many items. Craig bid on the whole project. His bid was on time. He was winding down another project, but he had at least one person on the job every day. The second week of the project he had 3 people including himself working to finish. He and his team finished the project at the end of the second week. The quality of the work was excellent. Craig was willing to trade some of my labor for his. Craig also did some extra work at a very reasonable price. Overall, I was very satisfied and will use him again on the next project. We intend to do 9 more Residential Care facilities for the elderly and he will get our business. Basically he did what he said he would do, his prices are reasonable, and his work is quality.

Craig and his crew showed up promptly each day. His crew, at his instructions, had to leave the premises as clean as possible before they left. I was extremely impressed with this. They stored their equipment in a neat and orderly manner in the garage. They did not track the house up considering the amount of dust they were creating. Everyday was like Christmas when I saw what they had accomplished. Working with Craig and his crew has always been a pleasure and I'm looking forward to working with him in the future.
Description of Work: Tear out sink and drain work and trim boards in bar area. Reinstall disposal, drain work and faucet. Install kitchen backsplash w/tumbled marble in sink area and behind range, remove ceiling acoustic and ceiling light. Install 5 six inch can lights, over the sink light and switch box. Replace all electrical outlets and light switches. Paint walls. Paint cabinets, drawers, baseboards and doors with aging finish. Repair bedroom wall (water damage). Install overhead bath light for more light. Paint living room and hall walls. Replace door seal to garage and air conditioner register.

I was fortunate to catch Craig when bad weather was delaying an exterior painting project; he was able to slip my suddenly conceived project in much earlier than I had any right to expect. I can scarcely say enough about the quality of work Craig and his crew do. Preparation is careful and thorough and the work meticulous. Craig demands that his people be courteous and extremely respectful of and careful with clients' homes. I was very comfortable leaving these folks alone when I was at work. I have such a high level of trust in Craig and his crew that I would be entirely comfortable with their working in my elderly mother's home. Craig is very fair, very professional, and absolutely determined to do the highest caliber of work. When my new baseboards and trim were savaged by the carpet installer, Craig and his folks immediately came back to repair the damage. I like Craig's work so much that we are already planning another project to update the other end of the house in a few weeks.
Description of Work: Craig and his crew updated about 1000 square feet including a large living area, a bedroom, a bath, a pantry, and a long hallway. Before painting, they did very careful prep work, repairing many cracks as well as removing and filling in an unused heating and cooling register, old music/intercom faceplates, and window covering hardware. They also replaced two doors, register covers, electrical plates, and all hardware on doors and cabinets including hinges and pulls. I was also replacing the carpet, so the crew razored out a six inch wide section around the perimeters to fully prep and paint the baseboards. This is indicative of their extreme attention to detail. I am so pleased with Craig and company that I have already asked him to bid on my summer kitchen remodel. These are the kinds of folks I want in my home with such an odious project as a kitchen re-do.

This is not the first time I have used Hamilton Interiors and I was just as please this time as the first. He started around December 7th and completed the job on time as he promised. This is a Walden Home in Two Worlds Apollo subdivision in Garland and believe me, it has never had a level used on it and if it did, they didn't know how to use it! Everything Craig and his crew undertook was a task because nothing was plumb but when they finished the floors everything looked perfect. He had to do extensive plumbing in the lavatories and put new valves on the washer and commodes. I had the tub refinished by another contractor and Craig put in new fixtures in the tub/shower. When he completed the job, he and his crew cleaned the floors and put the furniture back in place even moving an antique china cabinet twice because I couldn't make up my mind.
Description of Work: Installed a wrought iron gate, installed new floors - ceramic in kitchen and bath and laminate through rest of house. Remodeled bathrooms with new lights, new vents, shower door, mirrored doors in laundry area and new vanities and mirrors. Installed new oven and dishwasher in kitchen.

Craig arrived promptly for his estimate appointment. Of course we had to schedule this during all the rain! Due to this, he was careful to remove only the siding he knew he could complete in the allotted time and there were days when it poured and we waited. This is a zero lot line so he had to work in the neighbor's yards as well. There was no damage done to their property and if he had to remove a fence, it was reinstalled. He even cut back vines and small trees covering a neighbor's AC. He was very careful to clean up their property as well. At the end of a day, the only indication any work had occurred at my home was the fine layer of dust on the grass in the front yard. Craig is an easy going hardworking individual and I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. In fact, in a couple of weeks he is coming back to give me estimates on flooring and other remodeling work.
Description of Work: Craig removed the old Masonite siding and installed Hardie siding. He installed a heat barrier on the south wall which made a dramatic difference in the temperature of the room, reframed the fireplace which was originally framed in 1 x 2's (!), repaired the vent screen to keep the birds out of the attic, installed the front door and caulked the entire house including nail holes. Time Warner had been out to install cable and high speed Internet and basically wrapped one side of the house. When he finished, one cannot even tell if its wired for cable! He kept a clean work site and washed the patio and driveway when they completed, not to mention arranging the patio furniture. Since the HOA paints the homes on a 5 year rotation, my house is ready for the painters and it looks great just as it is!

I was very pleased from the beginning. He is friendly, punctual, courteous and he keeps you informed of everything as he does the work. He found additional trim and/or siding that needed to be done once he started the job and he replaced it and did not charge extra for it. Also, the rain held up my outside repairs for quite some time so he brought in additional people to help him get the job done done as quickly as possible. He was doing his best to get my work done as quickly as possible because he knew we wanted to get our house on the market.
Description of Work: He repaired a door latch, secured my fireplace mantle, repaired some cabinets, caulked my bathtub and a few other minor indoor repairs. The majority of his work was replacing siding which included painting it. He was also very patient as we added a few extra things to our list after our initial meeting.
