I had just finished with caulking the newly installed siding that my husband put up on the outside wall to the kitchen, when he asked if I had spilled some water. That is when we realized that most likely one of the nails had hit a pipe. When we took the siding down and discovered that the hole was less than an inch from the foundation, my husband decided he did not want to try to fix it and called Bulter Plumbing. The Plumber arrived within the 2 hour time frame we were given and fixed the probelm in less than an hour. He also wrapped the pipes since they are on an outside wall. We installed a very large steel plate in front of the plumbing.
Description of Work: Repair to a copper water pipe that was punctured by a nail. The hole was in the pipe about 1/2 inch above where it came out of the foundation. The Butler Plumber did a great job repairing the pipe and even wrapped them in insulation since they are on an outside wall.

I used Angie's List to find plumber recommendations in my neighborhood. Found Butler Plumbing and they had good review in my neighborhood from other Angie List users. I called Butler's; they had knowledgable sales rep answering the phone, they indicated that all their plumbers were busy, but as soon as one was available, I would receive a call back from them. Butler's called about two hours later, they had a plumber would could stop by my house and give me a quote, I arranged an appointment that day. The appointment was kept on time, the plumber was quick & efficient in quoting me a price, which I accepted. Butler's had to return the next day (they had to have time to buy the sink I needed) on time. They took about two hours to perform the tasks, the 1st toilet re-seating was especially difficult once they took it apart, as the flange to the drain was completely broken off. The original quote did not cover the price of the flange and welding to the drain, hence, I had to pay an additional fee for the new flange & its installation. The work was finished in a competent manner, as all the materials and work areas were cleaned up, as well as performing all the repair work. Altogether, it took about 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete the entire job.
Description of Work: Replaced bathroom sink (new sink & faucet) and all plumbing connections including new water control value. Repaired and re-seated toilet; replaced broken flange on sewer drain, as well as replacing water control faucet. Repaired 2nd toilet which had leaky flapper.

They were on time, repaired toilet and discussed several ways of repairing. Went beyond repair. Checked for leaks under home by bathroom. Gave advice to keep toilet running properly and reduce rust. Advised about home protection with plumbing system.I would definately use them again. They returned my calls and came out the same day.

We asked a foundation consultant to check our home because of cracks in the walls. He immediately suspected a sewer line leak beneath the house. We contacted Butler because of excellent reviews on this list. Fernando did the static test and confirmed a severe leak. There were problems locating the site, even using the camera, but eventually they were successful. The process spanned many days, and required taking up a couple of toilets and jack-hammering/digging out two holes in the floor. Fernando and his helpers (Chris and Josh) stayed with the job to completion, and did their best to clean up after themselves. Bottom line--a tough, inconvenient process done as well as possible by conscientious, courteous, clean workmen who know their trade. Hope we never have to go through this again, but if we do, I'll call Butler.

Called on a Sunday to fix a leaking outlet pipe on our water heater. We were advised the plumber was on a job and would wrap up around 5. They called again at about 4:30 to let us know he was running late and that it might not be until 6 or 6:30, and if we still wanted the plumber to come by. The owner arrived promptly at 6:30, and had the job done in about an hour. They did charge a $200 weekend service call, which was disclosed up front and that we agreed to. Butler Plumbing charges a flat rate for their services, which is unusual for Dallas-area plumbers. Overall I was pleased with their responsiveness and willingness to keep me updated on arrival times.

My leaking commode was the result of the installation, several years ago, of a commode that was too long for the distance between the anchoring bolts and the wall. The commode tank had always been crooked and finally started leaking at the bolts holding the tank to the base. The plumber and his helper had a properly sized commode delivered while they upgraded/replaced the shut off valve. They were able to get me a "comfort height" commode which I wanted. They were on time, courteous, and professional. I might have been able to find a less expensive commode but with only one bathroom in my condo, I took what they offered.
Description of Work: They replaced my leaking commode and replaced the shut off valve to the commode.

I found Butler Plumbing on Angie's List after calling one other plumber who could not get to me (my contractor's plumber is a smaller business). From the beginning, they were super responsive and professional. After asking me a few questions, Shane explained that it could be a simple repair in the tank (as my daughter thought it was), or it could be something more serious given the gurgling action when I flushed the toilet. He explained the pricing and was far more responsive than I could even accommodate! (I had called during the busy holiday season and was fairly booked up myself with tons of appointments!). We settled on a date early the following week, and Shane encouraged me to call back if the problem became more serious and I needed them to come out. At the appointed time, two extremely professional and knowledgeable gentlemen (David and Matt) arrived to look at my problem. It did turn out to be a tank issue and a minor repair, but they were very kind and assured me that many people don't know how to assess the issues in these new tanks. Anyway, we spent a little time visiting about the care of toilets (no bleach in the tank!) and going over the pricing (which is well documented so customers can see how visits are priced) and discounts available to Butler Plumbing customers. They could not have been more professional. As they were taking their leave, David shook my hand and said, "By the way, I'm Dave Butler. I like to keep my hand in when I can." I found that so impressive, that the owner still goes out to meet his customers, even new ones with minor problems, when he can. All of that is to say that Butler Plumbing is my new company when I have problems they can solve, and I recommend them for Angie's List members. I do think homeownership is so much easier when we have a team of capable and honorable professionals to turn to. So I'm very glad to have found Butler Plumbing to add to my list of problem solvers! (Thank you again, Angie's List!)
Description of Work: My toilet was working, but strangely. It's a new water-saving type, so I'm not sure about its workings (not that I would have been brilliant about the traditional type either). Anyway, the water was very low, and when it flushed, it sort of gurgled up. I thought it might be that there is a lot of construction going on in the neighborhood, so I delayed calling anyone. Butler Plumbing found the problem straightaway; a connection had come loose in my new-fangled tank.

They were absolutely professional. Very clean and went above and beyond to minimize any damage to drywall, ceilings and cabinets.
Description of Work: I had a water leak in the hot water line under the concrete slab in the kitchen. To prevent tearing out the new hardwood floor, they rerouted the hot water line through the crawlspace between the first and second floor from the hot water heater to the kitchen sink.

Contacted Butler plumbing. They are courteous and informative when I called. I was asked pertinent questions to verify the issue. I was notified that there will be a fee for coming out even if they did not do the work. Day of the work, they arrived on time and assessed the issue and gave me an estimate of the job. As they worked I was given updates on what they saw and what they were doing. They found that the leak was actually under my home (under the slab). I was given an updated price for repairing the lead under the slab and details on what would be done to correct it. Due to the change n the issue they were unable to complete that day and scheduled to return. When they returned, they were punctual and went right to work and were very careful about making a mess since they were digging up the slab inside the house. Work was completed in a timely manner. The entire job consisted of: Replacing outside shut off valve/piping. New box around the valve Replacing damaged section of pipe under the house Pouring new concrete to seal the hole I am very satisfied with the service I received.
Description of Work: Out water shutoff valve was broken and leaking however it turned out to be a more serious issue of leaking pipe under the slab of the house.

There was a funky smell in our guest bath downstairs for a few weeks. We finally got around to calling the plumber. I searched on Angie's list and found Butler Plumbing. I checked their license to ensure they were still current and checked their website to see who much effort they care about their business. I was satisfied with both so I called to talk about my problems. Shane answered the phone and was very professional, informative, and to the point. I was aware of all the charges and what to expect. They scheduled me for 2 days later. I got a call when the tech was dispatched that morning. He came and diagnosed the problem pretty quickly. They came back the next day, fixed the problem and the smell is gone. They are a pleasure to deal with. Very responsive, trustworthy, prompt, and professional. I will definitely use them again, and would highly recommend them.

Was having some carpentry work done on my front porch. When the workmen moved the hose attached to my outside faucet, the faucet broke off at the base. Luckily they could turn the water off to the house and then called me at work. I didn't know of a plumber that I could call on such short notice so the carpenter recommended Butler Plumbing Company since he had worked with them before and was familiar with their work. I called Butler and spoke with Shane. He was very polite and assurred me that even though this was out of their normal territory, they would come by. He also was upfront that this would be considered a service call, not an estimate, and that once they arrived they would be prepared to fix the plumbing problem. I was able to remain at work until he called to let me know the plumbers were on their way. Fernando and his helper Chris arrived at the designated time. Fernando was able to assess the damage quickly and let me know what needed to be done and how much it would cost. Both he and Chris were very professional and didn't waste any time digging out the old faucet stem and installing the new faucet. They also cleaned up after themselves before they left. I felt that I was charged a fair price for the work that was done. I will definitely call Butler again when I need a plumber.
Description of Work: Outside faucet broke at the base due to corrosion. Plumber had to dig down to the connecting pipe and cut out the old faucet stem Plumber then cut the new faucet stem (used copper pipe, not plastic) and attached it to the water pipe Plumber then installed faucet head and insulated the pipe before refilling the hole.

This experience couldn't have gone better! I called to make an appointment, after looking the company up on Angie's List, and they were able to send someone over right away. The repairman & his apprentice showed up, looked over the situation and said they could put in a new, updated line for the dishwasher. They needed to shut off the main water to the house, as the copper line the dishwasher used did not have a shut-off valve on it. My wife was needing to get ready for work, but the repairman was able to work quickly & have the water back on in about 5 minutes time. This made my wife very happy! He capped the old line and had the new line connect to the water line under the kitchen sink. All of this work was done in about 30-45 minutes. Both men were courteous, professional, and wearing uniforms. They had the tools & parts with them to get the job done. Price was reasonable & the fact that he was able to only have the water turned off for 5 minutes was great. Life at the house was able to proceed fairly smoothly.I'm glad I chose Butler Plumbing, and would use them again.

Great. Don't like the prices but their prices are in line with other plumbers. They have a written price list and can show you before they do the work what the expense will be at different levels (dependent on what they have to do). They finished. Showed us what my grandson had put down the toilet and we were back to normal. We were lucky; they had someone back from a job and were able to let him come right away. Can't think of any dos or don'ts specifically.
Description of Work: They came the same day I called. They were very professional. He explained the cost and it was clear how much it would cost depending upon what they would have to do. My grandson had put something in the commode and when it got flushed it overflowed. I was very pleased with their service and will definitely call them again when I need work done.

They did a great job. We were very happy with their timeliness and service. Would definitely recommend them and definitely use them again.
Description of Work: The ceiling in our back room collapsed from water damage. Butler was at the house within 2 hours of us calling them. They identified the problem (plugged up condensation line from an air conditioner upstairs), fixed it, provided information on how to keep this from happening again (monthly application of bleach to the pipe). They were polite, fast,, clean and helpful. While they were here we asked them to change out shut off valves on a bathroom sink which they did quickly and neatly.

They viewed the line with a camera, showed me the problem, cleaned the line out thoroughly with the proper machine, which was available on their truck at that time (the previous plumber had only punched a small hole through the roots blocking the line, with the snake they had available on their truck, to let water flow through), inspected the line again to make sure it was cleared well, showed me the results of their cleaning (and I could see for myself that the line was indeed cleared thoroughly with the use of their camera), and then gave me an estimate on the job for fixing the problem once and for all. I was extremely impressed with the professionalism and the thoroughness, the fact that they came equipped with everything to do the job completely the first time, and the fact that they informed me completely of the work that needed to be done to prevent the recurring problem. Even though they are more expensive than the competitors, I am so impressed with their preparedness and ability to communicate the problem to me, making sure I understood everything, that I will recommend them without hesitation and will also be calling them to do the work needed to fix the problem for good.
Description of Work: After a poor experience with paying another plumber who did not clearing the line completely (only two weeks earlier my line was clogged again), I found Butler on Angie's List with high ratings and called. I was leery at first that they would not give me a quote over the phone, but decided that their ratings (and the number of customers that had given them such a good rating) that I would schedule the job to clear the main sewer line under my house. They were at my home on time-first thing Saturday morning-after calling to let me know they were on their way.

The person that came out to fix the disposal was the owner. Also, once we set up the date and time for the slap leak they were on time and fixed it quickly. The other place we had out first- which is also listed on Angie's list was the total opposite- They charged us a price out of thin air (which was alot more than Butler plumbing's price) The other place wanted over $3,000 and then told us they could not come out and do the slap leak repair on the days we agreed to--AFTER we had to call them and find out where they were because they had not shown up to start the repair. Plus, we had to call that guy a few times to find out when he was going to fix our disposal-then improperly stored it and had it bouncing around his van and told us he would get another one the next day. This other guy also left some of his work stuff here and he even made our plumbing problem worse by jamming the toilet up which is tied into the shower so our shower started to back up. He also made a mess and didn't clean up. Butler plumbing personnel were the ones that noticed what happened and explained it to us. I would recommend Butler plumbing to anyone. They were honest, professional, explained things and picked up after themselves. Very good Company.
Description of Work: Butler plumbing came out and replaced/fixed garbage disposal unit and also took care of our slap leak as well. They were the second plumbing service we had called. We fired the first one (see below)

The initial work went well but when we asked for a price along with details of the work that remained to be done we got resistance. He considered that task to be unnecessary and evidently did not want to take the time to do this. When pressed further, he basically refused and said he did not want to work with us. Very unprofessional. All we wanted was clarity on what work was being done.

Response from Butler Plumbing Co
There was much more involved here than is in Member's Report. We did locate Member's leak in a shower pan in an upstairs bath over the master bath. We gave him a price and were waiting for him to coordinate his tile contractor. Member hired an interior disigner to oversee the work. Twice we were rescheduled by him with little or no notice because his contractors did not get their work done according to schedule. We felt uncomfortable with the contractors doing the work and with the person Member had running the job. A shower pan must be installed properly and the tile contractors have to know what they are doing or they can damage the pan. The homeowners then call the plumber, not the tile contractor , when it is leaking through their ceiling. Due to our lack of confidence in the people Member chose to do his work, we did not want to be involved in a plumbing installation that was not up to Butler Plumbing Company's Standards. That is why I kindly told Member and his assistant that we were not comfortable with the way the job was being handled and were not interested in working with him. We have high standards for our work and the contractors we work with because we always have our clients best interests in mind. We will not lower our standards to work with contractors that we feel are not taking good care of our clients needs and that is why we told Member we would not do his plumbing work. Sincerely, David Butler Owner/Butler Plumbing Company

The original install by the builder was not done right and they corrected and added some plumbing to the outside of the house without any extra charges. They also met the inspector in case there was a problem due to the added fixes. They were running a about 30 minutes late and it was an evening job, but they stayed until it was done right even though it was past quitting time.
