The technicians arrived promptly and I relayed the problem. Told to use bleach around the shower stall as this was most likely the cause of the odor. I wanted to be able to raise and lower the stink stoppers easily as I wear contact lenses and needed to have the drain closed. I also had a slight leak around the faucet but they did not have the 100% silicone to fix it. I would have to get it at home improvement store and do myself. There were no parts used and the stoppers are still hard to raise and lower. I thought the price for this work a little over the top even as there is a $45 service fee not deductible from the rest of the bill and a minimum of $69 charge. I am sure if you are having a big job performed this would be fine, but for this work i thought a bit too high. I did get a senior discount. When I called, I got an appointment promptly, the person was courteous, I appreciated the call telling me the technicians were on their way, and the courteousness of the technicians. i just feel that having a minor plumbing problem this is not the company to call. After 6 months of supposed repair, my sink stoppers still do not stay up when pulled. I had wanted to be able to pull up the stoppers and be able to clean out the gunk that accumulates. Not able to. I tried the bleach in the shower stall and that is not the problem. I feel this was a big ripoff. I maybe in the minority with this company compared to all the A reviews.
Description of Work: I had 2 sink stoppers that would not come up easily and stay and a bathroom odor that I could not figure out where it came from.

On time. Price was competitive. Cleaned up after work completed. Didn't even know Josh and Chris were here other than the items were fixed. I am a very satisfied customer. I will hire Butler Plumbing again. I will recommend them to friends and family.

Quick Review: I teach Customer Service to New Hires for Southwest Airlines, a Company that prides ourselves on how we treat our Customers. Butler Plumbing EXCEEDED my expectations by far and knows how to treat a Customer. Bottom line is that this will be the first and most likely only call I make when I need a plumber in the future. Now for the long version: Our home is 13 years old and the water heater decided it was time to retire. I found Butler Plumbing on Angie's list, and they had many great reviews and the Super Service award for the last six years. I called and spoke to Shane on the phone. He was very honest and forthcoming on what would be the pluses and minuses of trying to repair a 13 year old water heater or just replace it. He told me the standard price over the phone. Shane also explained that if there was other work they needed to do to bring my house up to code, it may be an additional charge. Shane was someone I felt I could trust due to him being up front and honest with me. He gave me confidence in him and Butler as a company. I scheduled an appointment for the next morning for them to arrive between 8:30am and 9:00am. I was impressed that they could pin point that time so well in my case. He explained that most of the time they do give a two hour window, but he had guys available and knew they would be there on time. The next morning he called around 7:45am to ask if they could arrive a few minutes early; I was impressed and told them to come on. The Josh and Chris arrived 10 minutes early. I showed them the doomed water heater, and they looked it over. Some of the joints on the pipes were a bit corroded and it was not in the best of shape. I had already replaced the thermocouple to try to get it to work, and Josh said that would have been his first course of action as well. They explained that they could replace the controls on the water heater, but due to the age, it may only be buying me a short amount of time for the money. I asked for them to just go ahead and replace the whole thing, and they got right to work. Josh told me it would take about two hours to complete the replacement. He very patiently answered all my questions, explaining everything I asked about in detail. I went inside to do some work and about 40 minutes later I hear the water come back on. I thought to myself that it was a quick for the water to already be coming back on, so I headed back out to the garage to check on them. Chris was moving the old water heater into their truck to dispose of it and a new shiny State water heater stood where the old one had died. They then spent 30 minutes on clean up and insulating all the pipes going into the water heater. My old one did not even have insulated pipes! They could have left them uninsulated and I would not have known the difference, but they did the job right. The new pipes and valves look great! Josh spent another 15 minutes going over everything with me including how to light the pilot, what the light means on the control box, the 100% six year warranty, and anything else I could think to ask. Total time from start to finish was about an hour and 35 minutes. Again they were early. The final charge was EXACTLY the same that I had been quoted over the phone the day before. I even had a Angie?s List coupon and dropped the price by $75.00. To top it all off, they helped me return my garage back to its original order before I moved everything to get to the old hot water heater. This was well beyond what they ?had to do.? They did it because it was the right way to treat a Customer. At Southwest Airlines, we spell Customer with a capital C because they are that important to us. Butler Plumbing is one of the very few companies that I have dealt with that made me feel they share the same philosophy. They may not be the absolute cheapest quote you get(nor will they be the most expensive either!), but I will bet they will back up the little extra you pay with a great product and simply golden Customer Service. I will call them first for my next plumbing need?and I am willing to bet that is the last call I will make as well. Great job Butler! You earned a loyal customer!

We called Butler after waiting all day for another plumbing service who never showed. My mother's house was completely backed up. Both toilets were completely unusable and there was sewage backed up into the shower. This old home has terrible plumbing and has always have trouble. I called at 5pm and they came out that night (approx. 6) and he had to clear the lines from the house to the street and all the toilets. I can't stress enough how pleased I was with this service. Not only did he correct the situation but the also cleaned up the toilets and shower and sanitized it. There was no clean up left for me to do. What a relief! I will use Butler again, whenever I need plumbing services!

I want to begin by saying how thankful I am to Butler Plumbing for helping me out of a bind. The toilet had begun to rock a few days ago and I decided to take it apart to see if it was something I could repair. After removing the toilet the problem became apparent. The flange that holds the toilet to the ground had broken loose completely. We had guests coming over that evening and I needed it completed today. I called Butler and he was able to send a crew out within 3 hours. The guys that he sent out were great. They were clean, polite and had the job completed extremely fast. I like the fact they have a flat rate per job and not an hourly rate.

The crew consisting of C.J, Matt, and Josh showed up exactly on time, covered their shoes and got straight to work. In order to access the mixer tub/shower mixer valve, the crew had to cut a hole through the bedroom wall directly behind the plumbing pipes in the common wall. When the installation was finished, the crew left a cross shaped hole in the sheetrook. They offered to cover it with an access panel, but I chose to forgo the panel. I plan to close the hole with sheet rock, tape and bed it myself, then repaint that wall At the same time, a crew person installed a pump on the hot water side of the water heater, and a manifold under the kitchen sink. We plugged the pump in, powered it up, and in no time, we had almost instant hot water at every faucet in the house, including the kitchen and dishwasher, the farthest points from the water heater. We are happy with all the work performed by Butler Plumbing today. They gave us a 5 year warranty on everything they did today. The Grundfes hot water system cost us $697/ the installation of the shower/tub hardware cost $453. I received a $25 Angie's List discount coupon, and 10% old-timers discount. Butler Plumbing is very profession, very competent, very clear up front about the cost, and there are no surprises. I've used them at least twice, and have been happy with their work each time.

I called Butler because of high rating on Angie's List. Their rep would not give me prices over phone, only saying they do not charge by hour, but by job. They came to our home on time. I wanted a toilet flapper replaced. He would not do it, stating they only change entire assembly out, charging about $280 to do it. I know the entire assembly is about twenty dollars and takes about ten to fifteen minutes to replace. Same severe overcharging for other things I needed done. Their business model is NOT consumer friendly, and takes advantage of those customers that do not know what things cost. They were polite, clean and polished.

Response from Butler Plumbing Co
I would like to address the concerns Mr. (member name removed) had with Butler Plumbing. 1. We don't give prices over the phone because we always have our clients best interests in mind and without knowing all the details of a plumbing problem, you can never give an accurate estimate over the phone. 2. Mr. (member name removed) wanted us to just replace the flapper on his toilet, but in general the parts in a toilet are all the same age and it has been our experience that to properly rebuild a toilet and take the best care of our clients, we replace all the working parts in a toilet and give them a full 2 year warranty on parts and labor rather than just replacing a flapper and then a few weeks or months down the road, the rest of the parts will need to be replaced. At Butler Plumbing, we want to keep all our customers for life and give them the highest level of customer service. Our clients always know the price up front with our "Straight Forward Pricing" so there are no suprises like in hourly work. Our technicians are drug tested, background checked and of the highest moral standards. We leave your house as neat and clean as when we arrived and want to be your plumbing company for life. Sincerely and always "At Your Service" David Butler/Owner Butler Plumbing Company

Excellent work - they were able to repair the issue without tearing up the drywall. Replaced the shower knob with one that works much better than the old one at no additional cost. I've used them several times and every time they are punctual, professional, reasonably priced, and leave things better than they found them. Sometimes they do extra work without charging extra - bottom line is they exceed my expectations every time.

Overall, it was a very pleasant, effective experience. The men were clean and professional. They were forthcoming with what they were doing and needed to do and what I needed to do to prevent a future problem. I was very pleased.
Description of Work: We had a mainline clog in the outline to the street. It was at the edge of the house, where the old cast iron pipe is fitted to the newer PVC that goes to the sewer in the street. There were some roots peeking their way in and it was a slowdown for the outflow from the whole house. The two workmen were able to find the clog with a little camera on the pipe snake, determine the actual cause (the joint and roots), and fixed it immediately. They explained to me what they were doing, gave me a price up front of my final decision to have them clean the clog. They tested the system after the cleanout to make sure it was indeed corrected, cleaned up what little mess it involved and were very helpful in advising me as to what the prognosis was. I will probably eventually want to put a different kind of connector there at that joint, but not to do that until the next time it caused problems. They even advised me as to what that procedure might cost, so I could be prepared.

They were very responsive and came out almost immediately after my call to ask for a quote. The 2-man team was very friendly and professional, and I told them I was new to the area and looking for a plumber that I could use now and in the future. I paid them their $45 service charge but did not purchase the work (described above) because their cost was much too high. Butler charges not by the hour but by the type of job. Their fees start at a base of $xx per job and increase based on the complexity which goes up 8 tiers. My job to add an extension to the 2 faucets was 3rd from the highest price. Butler was overall a pleasure to deal with and I wish their prices had been within my budget. I have no reason to think they are not excellent plumbers but obviously I can't speak to their quality of work since I didn't hire them.
Description of Work: I only paid for the service call of $45. Called them for a quote and planned to hire them if quote was within reason. Two outside faucets were not easily accessible in flower beds, and I needed them extended 4 or 5 feet to a more accessible location. I wanted to see if there was some way to do it without cutting into brick. Was hoping they could just attach an extension with a water cutoff. The team said they could do it with a pipe tunneled in the ground without digging into brick. They were going to charge $439 per faucet and when I said that was way too expensive they offered to do two faucets for approx $700 total. Still way too expensive for my budget so I declined.

Spoke with Shane on the phone and he was also one of the technicians out to service our shower. Very professional on the phone and in person - made me feel very confident in their work ethic and professionalism. Upfront with cost & their pricing. Had needed parts on their truck and quick for repair. Also detailed in their 'services provided' receipt which is always nice when keeping track of your home repairs/services. Overall, excellent experience from start to finish and I wish I had found them first!! Butler plumbing will be our go-to plumber from now on.

We love Butler!!! Had a horrible leak underneath my slab. Butler came out promptly looked it over including doing a thorough water detection test (the sound my birds just loved to no end) and reran the pipe through the attic and I had them replace the 10 year old water heater as well. The best part next to their friendly attitudes was that the prices are easily read on a presentation they bring out so you aren't surprised later. We loved their work so much we had them run the hot water line through the attic as well. The owner even came out and spent a great deal of time with us going over everything. I even called a few days later with a question and they were very nice and had me speak with the original plumber who did the work just to make sure the information would be accurate. We are so happy we went with Angie!
