We did not purchase a freezer from them, but they were very helpful with giving us suggestions on brand names and what to look for. They told us which brands are more reliable. We told them what brand we had before and how old it was and they told us we were lucky because the brand we had normally breaks in a year. The brand they recommend has been great so far.

My tenant awoke to a warm refrigerator with ruined food. I drove over to check out the refrigerator. It had power and seemed to be blowing cool air very faintly...but was warm and the freezer had no ice. Next I discovered the repairman I normally call no longer serves Round Rock. So I logged into Angie's List to find a new repairman in my area. Tri-City Appliances answered my first call and immediately began helping me. They asked some diagnostic questions and then set up a repair call within a few hours. The technican Rodney arrived early. He was professional and friendly. He quickly determined the refrigerator had been installed with a 'hard start kit' that would kick start the refrigerator daily. This explained a clunking noise the refrigerator routinely made. Unfortunately, the compressor was out. Due to the old style of freon, replacing the compressor was cost prohibitive. While Tri-City also sells appliances, I appreciated that the technican did not put a hard sell on me. He let me know what a comparable refrigerator would cost in his shop. We talked about what brands seemed to be most reliable. Tri-City was very easy to deal with and highly responsive. I will definitely recommend them to my friends.

They were awesome. They got the job done in about 45 minutes. The fan motor needed to be replaced. The repairman was very knowledgeable and the lady that answered the phone actually gave me some ideas on how to check the fan motor so I would not be charged a service call for them to come out.

Although they were not able to repair our dryer, Peggy called the next morning and explained that they do not work on Kenmore's due to Sears not speaking to them regarding Kenmore appliances. However, her husband did offer a suggestion for us to try and we greatly appreciated that. When we are ready to purchase a new washer/dryer set, I will be contacting them.

These guys rock! Peggy answered my initial phone call on the first ring. Took all of my relevant information, ordered the correct part, called me when the part arrived (which only took a day) and got me an appointment the next day. A very friendly and professional repair person (whose name I don't remember - SORRY!) showed up promptly at the scheduled time, made the necessary repairs in about 15 minutes, gave me some additional information about the functionality of the water filter mechanism, and charged me exactly what Peggy had quoted to me earlier. I couldn't have asked for a smoother, more pleasant experience.

-ur water dispenser on our refrigerator door was not working. When I called Tri City, the woman who answered the phone was very helpful and walked through a few troubleshooting ideas over the phone before even scheduling a technician to come out. She had narrowed down the cause to 2 possible problems, which did require a scheduled technician visit. The technician showed up as scheduled and was very courteous asking for a towel to put on the floor in case of any water spilling or leaking. He replaced the water valve, got the water dispenser working and completed the job within 1/2 hour. About a few days later or maybe a week after that was fixed, we noticed that the ice dispenser stopped working. I called Tri-City to ask if it had anything to do with the valve that they recently replaced or it was a coincidence that another issue surfaced so quickly. The man began asking a lot of questions to again troubleshoot over the phone. He determined that it was not related to the valve that was just installed and told me what the new cause was. He gave me detailed directions on how to fix it and then said to call back if that didn't work. I followed his directions and it worked! He was right and I didn't have to call again or spend additional money for a technician to come out. I would definitely use their service again.

The fact that other service companies would have shown up just to tell me that and charge me a fee is the reason I will always go back to these guys. It's nice to have someone that understands honest customer service these days!
Description of Work: They didn't charge me a dime!!!! They emailed shortly after my submission to Angie's List with a request to setup a time... When I explained my issue they suggested I check the drain trap (which I had no idea our washer had one...) and said it was a common issue that was easy to fix. They suggested I check that out before visiting which would incur a charge... As luck would have it... the drain trap was exactly our issue!!!

Was super-impressed with the helpfulness of TriCity. I called to schedule a service appointment as the water spout on our Kenmore refrigerator was not working. The lady on the phone took the make and model of the fridge, and before proceeding to schedule an appointment, she advised that it was common on this type of fridge for the water lines to freeze and water to stop coming out as a result. She recommended adjusting down the freezer temperature and calling back in 24 hours if the water was still not coming out. I accelerated things by emptying the freezer and turning it off altogether and, sure enough, in 30 mins or so the water starting working again! This is fantastic service and saved us a call-out fee. Tri-City will be top of my list of providers to call the next time we have an appliance issue.

I was able to schedule the service call at short notice. The Serviceman was on time and fixed the range/oven. Pricewise I did not shop around, but the repair fee we paid is quite less then the cost for the new range and it allowed us to keep the existing range for now. While I hope our appliances will not break, if they do I would call the Tri-City repair for help. Thank you, Tri-City

We are recent transplants to the Round Rock/ Austin area and after 2 months in our new home our dishwasher quit working. I called Tri-City to find out the cost for repairing our dishwasher. I had already called the manufacture and did a trouble shooting process with them. After a very polite hello, I stated my issue with Tri-City and with in 1 min, the wonderful woman on the phone had my dishwasher going. It was as simple as flipping the switch next to our garbage disposal.Thank You Tri-City Appliance Repair!

Our refrigerator decided to go out on a Saturday afternoon. I called Tri City as they were listed as open till 4pm. The woman who answered was friendly and helpful and very apologetic that they would not be able to come out until Monday. She recommended getting dry ice to put in the fridge and freezer. We did and it worked wonderfully to get us through until Monday. The repairman was here before 7am and had installed the new board by 710am. Unfortunately, while it made the unit start working, we discovered that the fan was no longer functioning. He promised to order the fan and get back with me as soon as possible. He was back on Wednesday and had us up and running completely in no time. We were only charged for one service call, not two, and the total was just shy of $300 - far cheaper than replacing our refrigerator! They were all wonderful to work with and we will definitley call them again when the next appliance decides to conk out.

I really liked their service and response. When i called them about my microwave, they requested me to bring the microwave by myself rather than they come and pick up. That saved me some 50 bucks and the service was done very fast on the same day. The service charge was very reasonable too. I was overall very happy with the choice of this provider.

Called on a Thursday to have a refrigerator ice maker fixed. The woman on the phone was very polite and set up an appointment for 10 am Friday morning. The technician showed up without a call at 930am, looked at the ice maker and said he'd have to have someone tell him how to remove it and that he'd call us back to fix it that afternoon. Monday afternoon I called them, and they agreed to come back at noon on Tuesday. The technician couldn't remove the ice maker and told my elderly father "You need a professional", which is what I thought I was hiring. Then, when Dad asked for a recommendation, he was told, "I have no idea," left and never contacted me, the customer, to let me know what was going on. At least they didn't charge me for wasting my time.

Response from Tri-City Appliance Repair
As far as the 1st appt. we said we would have to try and find information on this particular refrigerator and as it was the weekend, we would try and call back by early next week, consumer called us back before we could call them we set something for the following day.Unfortunately technician could not get the ice maker loose even with technical sheets and did not want damage it. We suggested to the father to have them call A & E, since they have specialist in refrigeration and may have seen more of this design than we have. We did not charge for a service call or a second trip. We are sorry we wasted their time but we also lost service slots and gas.

.This company saved our home cooked Thanksgiving meal plans in 2012. Our older dishwasher was hardly working and I had planned to fix a nice Thanksgiving dinner at home. We couldn't really have a Thanksgiving meal at home if the dishwasher wasn't working. I got their referral off of Angie's List. This company was so nice that they tried to advise me to check something out with my dishwasher before getting a service call charge. However, I knew the problem was more serious than the usual little problems with dishwashers so I requested a service call. The serviceman came out promptly exactly as scheduled and checked out our older model dishwasher. He was very courteous, professional and knowledgeable. As we expected (it was a very old dishwasher), it was the motor. Also as we expected it would be better to just get a new dishwasher than replace the older model with a new motor. They had some models at their business so we picked one out. They didn't have a big inventory but said we could order one through them if we liked. We found one there that was nice and had some nice features that we liked so we purchased it. This was the first part of the week of Thanksgiving. They came out the day before the day before Thanksgiving and installed our new dishwasher for us just in time. They installed it very quickly without a problem. They also gave us information about adding something simple to your dishwasher cycle to increase your cleaning outcome when you are using hard water as we are. Our new dishwasher has worked fine. I like them and highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Came out and looked at our older dishwasher that was not cleaning during a service call. They determined it was the motor. Both my husband and I and the serviceman knew it would be better to just get another dishwasher than to replace the motor on our older model. We looked at dishwashers at their location and purchased one. They came and installed it (week of Thanksgiving) and did it quickly, knowledgeably and professionally. They also advised the use of something to help your dishwasher work better with hard water.

I have guests coming for at least a month long visit from overseas and my stove goes out right before they arrive. I checked on Angie's List and found James Beardsley. He no longer works in Round Rock and recommended Tri-City Appliances. They made sure to get all the parts that might be necessary and came out immediately. I had the dates mixed up (felt horrible about that) and missed the initial visit. They rescheduled courteously for the next morning at 7 AM. Mr. Felfe was punctual, polite, and even took the time to explain what I could expect from my ancient drop-in stove in the future. He helped me weigh my options for future repairs and then did a thorough job replacing the failed parts on my finicky stove. Whoever had made repairs previously had done a shoddy job and some screws were stripped, etc. He patiently problem solved the difficulties and didn't change the cost, even though it was complicated. Two thumbs up!

It went very well. Will definitely call again for appliance repairs.
Description of Work: Extremely responsive and showed up ahead of time! Gave a "time", not a time range. That was very unusual and quite nice. My refrigerator was cooling when he came, so it was difficult to identify why it sporadically would stop cooling. This was the third time it had stopped cooling. (There first visit--had used a different repair service for the first two.) He was very efficient trying to track down the problem--the bottom freezer door was off a cog so it wasn't ever shutting correctly. Very impressed that he was able to determine that a it was really difficult to see. But that was definitely a problem.

I called Tri-City on a Monday morning. I explained that my refrigerator was not cooling properly. I was asked if there was any ice/frost build up in the back of my freezer. I replied yes. He estimated that this was probably due to my defrost heater failing. I was able to schedule an appointment that day which is what I needed. The repairman showed up a bit late, but within about 15-30 minutes of our scheduled appointment. He noted the style of my GE refrigerator and told me he may not have the correct heater for my unit. However, he proceeded to take out the back of the freezer to get to the defrost heater. Luckily he was carrying the correct heater for my unit so he was able to replace it. However, my freezer coils were caked with ice so I was given two choices a) unplug the unit, leave the doors open, and defrost for 24 hours (also requires towels to sop up excess water) or b) he could do it for a charge of $50 dollars extra. Since I didn?t want to leave work for another appointment, I selected option (b). It took about 30-45 minutes to heat-steam the ice from the coils (requires lots of towels). The heater was replaced and everything has been working since. Note: Had I known about option (a) before hand, I could have saved myself $50 by defrosting the refrigerator 24 hours prior to the serviceman?s arrival.
Description of Work: My GE side-by-side (approx. 1999) refigerator was no longer freezing food in freezer section. Tri-City serviceman came out and replaced my defrost heater (located behind a panel in the back of freezer).

I walked in their door and they took the microwave apart, put the new piece in and put it together again in about 15 minutes. The part had broken the way they said it would over the phone and they had the replacement part in stock. Not only are they a repair center, but they also sell new/used appliances. They service a lot of makes/models, but I think that Whirlpool is their strength. If you are in the Round Rock area and need service on a Whirlpool, this is the company for you.
Description of Work: The door opening mechanism broke on my Whirlpool Gold microwave. I wanted to avoid paying a home service fee, so I removed the microwave from the above-oven / in cabinet mount myself. I called a couple companies with good ranking on AL, but none of them had a service center where I could drop the microwave off. I called Tri-City; not only could I drop it off, but they told me the part could only break in one of two ways. They gave me a cost estimate right over the phone.

Searched for an appliance repair place on Angie's List and found Tri City. They were rated well and local (from Round Rock). I like to use local businesses when I can. I called and they said they could have a technician out that afternoon. That was great, but I had to work. We agreed on 8 am. the next morning. It was going to be a $70 service charge no matter what they found. Rodney arrived 8 a.m. sharp the next morning. Came in, took one look and figured out the problem. It was a broken plastic holder that held the control panel. He didn't have the part with him, but had it at his shop in town, so he went to get it. By 8:30 am. all was finished, he was gone, and I have ice and water dispensing again. I received a $10 Angie's List discount and with tax and everything the total was $107. Well worth it, and I wasn't really late to work. Will use again.
Description of Work: My water and ice dispensers weren't working on my fridge. Water has been out for months. Ice just went the other day. That was just too much.
