Texas AC & Plumbing Specialist

On the first service call, things were OK. Scheduled with the technician, he was on time and professional. He did charge me $310 for their "standard" drain clearing service, which seemed high to me, but I was eager to get my drain fixed. He got the drain cleared, we tested it and he left. He told me to be sure to save my invoice in case anything happened since their work was guaranteed for 31 days. I promptly left for a week on a business trip, came home and a week later the sink was completely clogged. Remembering what the guy said, I called them up again and was told that my memory was a fiction, no one in the industry guarantees drains. I would need to pay the $310 fee again, plus this time the guy (same guy) wanted to charge me $485 to use a camera to diagnose the issue. I would then be responsible for whatever repairs would be necessary on top of that (so, $795 to diagnose was the estimate). After arguments they agreed to waive the $310 because of the misunderstanding regarding the guarantee, but I would still be responsible for the $485 + additional work to repair my drain. At this point, I felt that they were just trying to get as much money from me as possible. This is not a trustworthy business.

Huge "Thank You" to Texas AC & Plumbing, we have been without AC all week, they were the first group we contacted via Angie's List and they carry a "A" rating and it is very understandable why. My point of contact was Martin and he was very upfront and honest he did all he could do to meet and match other offers, I never felt pressured into purchasing a new unit and he asked me one question, "what I was looking for in an AC company" my response was "A Sense of Humor" in this heat and humidity and looking at spending a few thousand, humor is a great thing and he brought it along with fast and quality service. They showed up at 2:00 and they were cleaning up at 6:00, I certainly recommend them for your AC needs,, I also now know who I will call if I should have plumbing issues... thank you Martin and team, and let me know when you need my wife to help out down there ;-)....

They were very honest and took the time to explain things. They also gave helpful info for maintenance and cost savings.

Found a slow leak in the evaporator coil in both of our units. Class Action lawsuit against maker of unit for this exact issue - so it was bound to happen. We had Texas AC out to check one unit that wasn't cooling properly, and they added freon and it started cooling immediately. The following week, our 2nd unit stopped cooling properly and after discovering same issue, added freon and that started cooling immediately. It was a pleasant experience overall, and I appreciated the help and knowledge and advice from their team. Quick response and on time. Reasonable price for the work as well. Would recommend.

Great experience, especially enjoyed Domingo's insight and willingness to explain the issue. Turns out, ant's had shorted out a switch on a 17 year old unit. Instead of taking advantage of a house full of kids in 103 degree weather, he simply sprayed some ant spray, cleaned the contacts and the system started right up. I know we will need a full replacement soon, I will definitely reach out to Texas AC first and request Domingo come back and see us.

I think it was good. I'd say they were competitive price-wise.

Everyone at Texas AC specialists was friendly and professional. James worked up the estimate quickly and was very thorough in his inspection of the system and providing options. The installation team was Excellent! They arrived on time, did a great job and took the time to explain all the options and configure the new thermostat. They left no trace of all the old equipment and construction materials. The best crew I have had the pleasure of working with. I recommended them to all of our neighbors and plan to use them again when my other aging systems need to be retired.

They are very good. It took them about thirty minutes, there wasn't anything wrong. The workers are great. In 2015, they came out to completely replace our furnace and air conditioning.

They were excellent all through. They were easy to get a hold of. They made me feel like I was the most important customer. The only thing they need to improve upon is how to securely install the unit against the wall. I would use them again.

On Saturday June 18, 2016 our air condenser quit at 4:30 p.m. Temp in the mid-90's with high humidity and little to no breeze. Texas AC Specialists offers 24/7 service. I called and service tech was there within 3 hours which I consider a very good turn around time especially for the weekend. The tech replaced the capacitor and it worked for about 2 minutes and quit again. Tech then said it was the fan motor, but he didn't have one and it would be Monday before he would have a replacement. I called another company who could come the following day (Sunday 6/19/16) and they had the fan motor. Needless to say it was a miserable night without A/C. On Sunday the new service tech from another company came and immediately saw the capacitor had been wired incorrectly by the Texas AC Specialist tech. He corrected the wiring and it worked perfectly. I called Texas A/C Specialists to cancel my Monday appointment and when the weekend manager found out what had happened he did reimburse me for the $75 cost incurred by having another company come out. After I got off of the phone with Tx AC Specialist and went back out to talk with my husband and the other company's tech I found out that the Texas AC Specialist tech has also bled out some of the Freon from the system (into the air) which my husband witnessed and the new company tech said was a violation. In any event, the problem was the capacitor and not the fan motor. Cost from Texas AC Specialist $249 - (Reimbursed for $75) to have another company reevaluate. Total Cost from TXACS: $174. Cost from the other company to correct capacitor wiring and replace Freon: $235. Total cost including $75 reimbursement was $409. Cost of being without AC for approximately for approximately 20 hours = Ridiculous! Cannot recommend this company as if I had been satisfied with their diagnosis and not contacted another company I would have been out an additional $500+ for a fan motor I didn't need.

We'd noticed our AC was cooling less and less, and after a few nights at 80 degrees in the house, I called Texas AC Specialists. I called at 9:30 AM. By 11:15 AM, Thomas was at my door to inspect the entire system. At 16 years old, it was beyond decrepit and needed to be fully replaced. He explained every detail that was wrong with the system, and was friendly and kind. We took care of the payment right then and there. By 1:30 PM that same afternoon, the work crew of two gentlemen arrived. For the next five hours, they worked tirelessly to haul out the entire old system and replace it. My new AC is running perfectly, and I'm grateful to have it done before the summer got even worse. It did take a few days to get my receipt emailed to me, but I did get it, and I'm completely happy with the entire process! I was delighted to work with Texas AC Specialists, and while i hope I don't need a new system again for a long time to come, I'd be glad to work with them again. I would be glad to work with Thomas again or either of the men who replaced the system! They were all thoroughly friendly and efficient!

When I called to get an appointment, they said they could have someone out between 3p-5p today. I explained to the lady on the phone that I had just had another AC company leave and needed a second opinion. In less than 2 hours, the service tech showed up. Thomas was the Tech from Texas Air Conditioning Specialist who responded. He came in, was professional and in a short time diagnosed the problem as a leaking coil. Thomas advised that there was no service fee or diagnostic charge, and the cost to replace the coil was $1811.00 plus tax, and they could fix the AC tomorrow morning between 9-11am. I told him that I had another company out earlier. I explained, I was charged $266 for a service charge and leak detection. They quoted me $2500 to replace the coil and then around $350 to charge the freon, plus the $266 in charges, and the soonest they could fix the AC was next Monday, a week. I am glad I got a second opinion, it saved me $1300 in the end. Thomas was professional, straight forward, and I felt he was honest and I know I will use them again. I will recommend this company to all my friends. A+ for service and price!!

They sent out a tech pretty quickly for a Saturday. I called at 8:00 AM and they had someone at my house at 11:00 AM. The tech went into the attic to look at the A/C unit and instantly saw the float switch was tripped. He blew out the drain line which cleared it. After it was up and running again he went to inspect the outside unit and check my freon levels. The whole process took about 30 minutes. He even gave me a few drain tablets that are supposed to help prevent clogs.

I had another appointment scheduled with a different contractor provided by my insurance company American Home Shield, and they never showed up. I called Texas Air Conditioning Specialists and they were able to come within an hour. I was very impressed with their punctuality and service. I will definitely be working with them again.

They came twice to repair because of a possible defective part installed the first time. They did not charge me for the service call fee for the 2nd visit. Both times they had a technician at my house within 4 hours of my calling. Thomas was very professional.

All good, arrived when they said they would, cleaned up after themselves. Havn't used the A/C that much but everything seems normal.

Simply put - this company is fantastic! A technician came out and looked at the furnace, but was unclear as to the problem. Mark, the owner, came out and solved the problem and made sure we were happy in every way. I know there was a review that gave them an 'F' a few months ago, but that person didn't reach out to Mark with their concern. Trust me, I received a level of customer service and honesty that is extremely rare! I will use Texas Air in the future and highly recommend them to anyone.

I liked that their visit was free along with the diagnostic. The technician was very late with no phone call to explain but once he was here he was efficient and gave me options. They scheduled our repair for the next day as we were expecting a cold front. Again the technician was late but did the work quickly and was friendly. I would use them again.

Very well. I would use them in the future. Gave some new insights on the problems.

We signed a multi-year contract with them and the pricing is all lumped in there together so the most recent service call in and of itself did not cost us anything. Individual pricing is hard to say.

Because they had been able to fix a simple issue on my initial service call, I mistakenly felt I was in good hands using them again. I had the same employee come out to do a quote for replacement of air ducts and attic insulation. The employee did not bother to go through my house to see how many lines vented throughout the house nor did he look in my attic to see what he would be needing to repair/ replace. When I questioned him on looking at the current ducts and attic's status, he blew me off by saying he had "been doing this a long time" and "after a while all houses are the same." He told me he already knew it would take a full day to do the requested work. I then directly asked him how he could quote me a price for duct work and labor when he didn't know how many runs/ lines he would need to replace and how many feet of supplies he would need. He then tried to tell me that he could estimate what most houses had and that most master bedrooms had 2 runs. Furthermore, he said if my master didn't have 2 runs they would have to put in a second. I explained to him my bedroom was small and was being sufficiently cooled/ heated as it was. I again had to ask how he could make these determinations and quote me a cost without looking at anything. Only then did he inspect my master and agree that I did not need a second run after all. He then left and promised to send me an email with the quote. I have never received an email. I am extremely displeased that I was not taken seriously and he felt he could dismiss me with the "I am the expert" mentality. Nothing he said made sense or was accurate. You cannot quote someone a price without being able to estimate the hours of labor and the supplies needed. I felt he was attempting to con me.

Great group of people! They were prompt with all communication and were on time and fast with the diagnosis and fix. Not to mention great prices. Thank you for saving me from a sweltering summer!
