Gary and his team are fantastic! Hands down the best we've worked with in our 20+ years as home owners. As long as Gary is working, we will never go with anyone else. The entire experience was pretty amazing and pain free. They come in, do the work efficiently - each person on the crew knows exactly what they are doing and how to do it - and when they leave, the only way to tell they were there is because of perfectly done end product. Gary, and each member of his team, treated our house like they were working on their own. Call him, you will not be disappointed!
Description of Work: Remove and replace a patio cover, repair damaged siding, replace a door and door frame, paint the entire exterior of the house.

Gary treated my job as if he were working on his own house. He and his team were very professional. But the thing that I noticed and appreciated most was his attention to detail. In fact, he added a couple of pieces of trim that the builder should have included but didn’t, so it actually looks better than new. Scheduling and communication was a bit of a problem, but I’m glad I waited on him. I would recommend him.
Description of Work: Replace exterior rotted trim, including 4x6 and 1x4 rough cedar, caulk, prime and paint.

Gary and his crew were amazing. They went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy. When a major snafu developed (termites, yikes!!), Gary called me to break the bad news, showed me the damage, and fixed it for far less than I would have thought possible. I was over the moon. I would not hesitate to hire them again. You can trust these guys. They're the real deal!
Description of Work: I needed some siding replaced and had some financial constraints.

It went very well. Gary and Kara are professionals and very easy to work with. The painters were very professional as well and did a fantastic job. They are quite skilled and fast. They cleaned up amd swept the floors at the end of every day. We were completely satisfied and will be using them to paint our bedrooms next.

All in all, Gary did a great job at a very reasonable price and we will absolutely be using him again in the future!
Description of Work: Gary and his team did a great job installing + staining a custom cedar treatment on our large exterior patio with a 15' ceiling. He also helped us grout a tiled wall that we were unsure about finishing and also helped repair a grout job that had gone awry. While he was here, he even took the time to help us install some gutter guards.

Gary and the Noah's Ark team are professional, honest and reliable which is why we've hired them repeatedly. He has some skilled craftsmen on the team that produce quality work. His quotes are competitive, and he is a straight shooter.
Description of Work: Most recent work included installation of sheetrock, insulation and paneling. Floated, taped, primed and painted ceiling and walls. Past projects included exterior siding, exterior painting, window installation and general carpentry.

Everything went very well! The only delay was with the counter top (which was not his fault). I had an issue with one of the shower heads losing pressure about a month after he finished. I called and he sent someone over the very same day!! It turns out it was not his fault either but the shower head itself. His guy cleaned it and was in & out in 10 minutes.
Description of Work: Gary took out tub, shower & bathroom cabinet. He put in a new huge shower with rain shower head & regular shower head, he added a built in bench and put 100% glass enclosure. He also had to make the window smaller in the shower to meet code and did a great job with that. Gary also built the new cabinet himself from a picture I found on Pinterest. It was exactly what I wanted! He and his crew painted the bathroom (he had a lot of input there and did it until we were all happy with the color).

Gary was responsive and on time for the initial bid. We scheduled for the following week. He picked up 50% payment right on time and worked with my evening hours. The following day we were delayed due to mother nature but he kept in contact until it was go time. The work was quality, affordable and his crew seemed trustworthy. He also respected my belongings in the backyard and cleaned up well. But next time, bring your boys some bug spray. I felt bad for making them work in mosquito heaven.

Gary and his crew were awesome. ?They showed up on time, were respectful and diligent, and knew exactly what to do whether Gary was there or not. ?The great part is that Gary does the work with his crew, but even if he was off working on another project, they were efficient and attentive to detail, safety, and quality. ?The end result is spectacular -- especially given the fact that they just provided the type of detail and styling and structural quality that we would have requested, but because we were very busy this week, we had to trust that they knew what they were doing. ?Gary and his crew made better decisions about how to construct both decks, especially the front, to make them more beautiful and secure than we could ever have imagined. ?I am so tired of having to spell out every detail of renovation, repair or construction projects, and this time, after the holidays, just did not have the bandwidth -- I just asked him to take out the bad board and repair, and everything from the concrete foundation supports to the stain, is perfect. ?Each project was completed within a day. I left before the last deck was finished, and just texted him hoping that all was well. ?When my family arrived home this evening, we were blown away by the craftsmanship, the beauty and attention to detail that they gave to both projects. ?I am so excited about this company and plan to hire them for several more projects before we are through. ?My only complaint is that I did not find them sooner. Gary is honest, fair and well-reasoned. ?He and his crew are pleasant people and enjoyable to be around. As a stay at home mom who was either home alone during the day or with my kiddo on a school day off -- I felt safe and respected. ?I even left for several hours at a time each day because i felt that they were honest and focused and dedicated to doing good work. ?I felt so comfortable with them that I told Gary to open a UPS package that might come while I was away as it had some ordered components for the deck's decor. ?I have never felt that comfortable with anyone, not even family members. ?This guy is honest and hardworking, showing up everyday with his crew, rather than just sending some guys out and showing up to be paid. ?That is not this person. At the risk of never getting on his calendar, I have no choice but to highly recommend Gary and his team at Noah's Ark. ?I will be hiring him for every project we have from now on.

i live out of state and have a rental in texas. noah's ark was referred to me. i called the number given to me which is the same as what shows on angie's list. the recording stated, "user is not accepting calls at this time". seemed strange for somebody running a business, but numbers can change. i sent a message through angie's list instead. the next day i received a response through angie's list telling me to send email to their company's address because they don't get their messages promptly through angie's list. i thought this was odd, because i am always notified within minutes of receiving a message through angie's list. they also asked for my phone number, which i gave them. next my phone showed a text message had been received. WARNING TO ALL COMPANIES: NOT EVERYBODY PAYS TO HAVE A TEXT PLAN!!! if we have a phone, you should call. if somebody says, "please call me", you should call, not text. texting is passive aggressive, especially when you mess up and don't want to have to explain yourself. once i discovered somebody sent a text message, i had to pay to read the message. VERY annoying. when you enter ten digits in your phone, why would you then enter a bunch of characters, to which you will not immediately receive a response, when you can so easily speak to somebody? man up and talk to people, for crying out loud! i called back and spoke with gary. he "thought" he'd have time to look at the work i needed to have done, but told me to send my email address to his email address so that he could respond. he also asked for the address where the work was to be performed. i did that later that day, as soon as i was at my computer. then i waited. no response via email; no response via phone. nothing. if any information was missing from what i sent, which gary thought he needed, he should have contacted me, but neither he nor his wife did that. today they said they don't have time to do my repairs prior to my tenants moving into the house. well THAT is pretty darned inconvenient! his wife, after telling me they didn't receive the information they needed from me, THEN went through their email account, found the email with the information i had sent, and responded to it for the first time. they insisted gary sent email to me last week, but i have nothing from them and have asked for a copy, in the event i missed something. we shall see. in the mean time, if you want to work with a company that actually cares about doing business with you, or doing business properly at all, i would recommend you move on.

On the day before the long-delayed project was to finally begin, Gary Kirby of Noah's Ark sent an email stating he required a 50% pre-payment for the remodel project services, despite having virtually zero out of pocket costs. No mention of any pre-payment / down payment had come up before, despite face-to-face meeting the day before and multiple emails over 3 months. When I asked if he would consider a 25% down payment instead ( again, he had virtually zero out of pocket costs upfront) and we would provide a weekly draw against work completed, Gary refused to discuss any such arrangement and cancelled the project without any further discussion. Noah's Ark refused to honor their bid price; created last-minute contract requirements that had no basis in reality, and failed to deliver what we had agreed to in writing. Based on our recent experience this firm is unreliable, dishonest and most certainly not one I would ever recommend.
Description of Work: Gary Kirby of Noah's Ark provided a written bid after an in-person site visit on a detailed written scope of work for bathroom remodeling efforts, including tile flooring removal and replace, shower stall remove and rebuild, wall board finishing, minor electrical & plumbing. As the owners, we are providing 95% of the materials and supplies costs, as requested b Gary Kirby. During the 6 months of delay between bidding and the project start date, Gary Kirby raised his bid price twice by 25%, and kept pushing out the scheduled start date 4 times to more than 2 months beyond the date originally agreed to,

Unfortunately, there was a miscommunication with the contract. Noah's Ark has always required a down payment of 1/2 the total cost of the job to cover payroll and materials if the job is not one that can be completed within one week. The cost of the job was increased due to a change in the layout of the bathroom tiles and the tile size that would have forced us to cut each and every tile down to the correct size and lay the tiles at an angle which takes more time (thus more labor cost). The delays in starting the project were in fact our fault as we had many delays on a current project; although, there was a push back on the start date at the customers request at one point. We do take full responsiblity for not making the payment terms very clear from the beginning of our proposal and apologize for the lack of communication.

Well, he did a great job and he did it correctly.--He didn't just cut the rotted board ends off and piece-meal new boards in. I also think he under-charged me for the work performed.. He and the men who worked with him were excellent. They are real carpenters and not fly-by-night people. I didn't get this company's name from Angie's List, so I didn't know going into it what to expect. The only downside is that they are so busy, I can't get them back again.

This is a rather difficult review to summarize and write. Many parts of the job deserve an A rating for quality and responsiveness, while other significant aspects warranted a D or F rating. For this job, Noah?s Ark decided that it would be best to install all the new wood first and then stain and seal in place with the promise of special care and cleanliness when it came to the staining and sealing. Therefore, on day 1 of the job we finalized the contract grabbed all the materials and the carpentry crew went to work demo?ing all the old wood and installing the new. It was very obvious early on; they knew what they were doing and strived to do a quality job. With that said, the overall carpentry work was great and warrants an A rating. There were several door issues that popped up, in which they dealt with quickly by applying creative solutions. Once the carpentry work was near complete, the staining/painting guys came in to complete the drywall crack repairs. In short, they did a good job repairing and texturing some rather large cracks and deserve a B rating. The major issues arose when the staining and sealing took place. First, the quality of the stain/seal work was very poor and would warrant an F rating. Every board and door has areas with runs and/or globs of stain and/or sealer. There was instances where they forgot to wipe the stain before it dries, and plenty of areas where not stained at all before sealing. Also, no effort was made to minimize the appearance of defects in the doors, nor keep them free of large debris when staining and sealing them. Secondly, little care was taken towards protecting the house while staining and sealing, therefore just about everything needed some level of attempted cleaning/recovery, which included but was not limited to carpet, tile, walls, windows, counter-tops, sinks, door hardware, etc?.Needless to say, some items would just not come clean. The foreman of the job was notified several times, but there just seemed to be a flat out refusal, by the painters, to utilize tape, tarps, and paper. A final item of note here, once the carpentry work was completed; there was little management of the project from the foreman or owner. In summary, I would recommend Noah?s Ark for interior carpentry work (A). As for any painting, staining, or sealing I would be cautious and consider another company for the finish work. The job had such high potential to come out wonderful, but turned into a lot of extra work and headaches for us as we continue to repair, touch-up, and clean.
Description of Work: Noah’s Ark Carpentry replaced all interior room doors and closet doors with new stain grade solid wood doors, replaced all interior trim and window casings with new stain grade boards, installed a new exterior sliding patio door, completed several drywall crack repairs, built a custom plumbing access panel, and stained and sealed all new wood. Price listed was for labor only.

The work was of excellent quality. The carpentry work to replace the fascia board was well done. The painting was also well done with the paint exactly matched to the existing paint. The stucco repair was a beautiful job especially with the new paint being matched precisely. The crew was very professional and friendly. The work site was cleaned meticulously. Our overall satisfaction would be an "A"; however, the start date was pushed forward twice.

I am always hesitant to start these projects because of the horror stories of prices changing at the last minute and shoddy work. Plus, I am very careful about who is in my home. Gary set my mind at ease from the time he came for the estimate and out of seven companies I had come by and give quotes he was the only one to offer new ideas and time/money saving options. I had not thought of leaving a nook and shelf in the new upstairs room and had not thought of how my original design would impede getting furniture in and out of the new room. Gary?s ideas helped solve the problem and saved me money. I also felt extremely comfortable with his experience, knowledge, and general demeanor. His quote was very competitive and I knew right away I wanted Noah?s Ark to do the work. The team that performed the work was very courteous and professional. They left the place clean and did the work it takes to minimize dust and debris in the rest of the house during a remodel like this. The construction went well and was done with care to make sure it was done right and would last. You would think the new room was part of the house from the day it was built if you had not seen the house before. That was my biggest concern and after all was done we were all very pleased with the results. The texture and paint professional, Juan, took his time and made sure everything was right. It was obvious that he cared about the kind of work he was doing and it showed. We will be calling Noah?s Ark again when we have other painting projects. There was a delay in getting the project done, mostly due to a special order on the door we needed in order to match the rest of the house. The door had to be made for the project and shipped, so it delayed the installation and completion by some days. This did not alter the quoted price, however, and as this is my house and I plan on being here for a long time, I wanted it done right and not just quickly. I value quality over speed in that regard. Overall I was very happy with the end result and am thankful I now have a go-to person for projects like this in the future. It takes a lot of the stress out of a project when you have someone you know and trust to do it right.
Description of Work: Enclose second floor 200 sq ft gameroom / loft that opens down to the living room. Add walls and a door to seal off room for a media room / fifth bedroom. Tape, float, texture all walls and paint walls, door, trim, and repaint the resulting media room a dark color on walls and ceiling. Match texture and paint on living room side to make wall seamless with the preexisting walls.

Would characterize this as a very well done, reasonably priced mid-range job. Meaning it could have been more elaborate, done over a longer period with more expensive materials, for greater cost. But our expectations were more than met. Took four full days and a couple of hours of final touch-up. Gary Kirby, the owner of Noah's Ark, does use sub-contractors, but the crew (Robert, Aaron, and Juan) had worked together for several years and knew each other. They were thoroughly professional, showed up at the agreed-upon time each day, and put in a full day's work subject to some bobbles-and-weaves on material availability. We drew up what we wanted in Visio, Robert based his work estimate on the drawing, explained what was and wasn't reasonable and indicated where there might be issues once work started. Gary's estimate and statement of work were detailed. During construction, when some issues did arise, the alternatives were clearly explained and our decisions were implemented. In one case, a change on our part (adding interior venetian blinds to the patio door) resulted in a reasonable additional material charge. All the work is excellent, but the drywall work and painting are exceptional -- we literally cannot tell where the new sections are. All in all, Noah's Ark made up for some of the bad experiences we've had in the past. Everyone was friendly and attentive to detail. Unlike other top-rated remodeling contractors in our area, Noah's Ark makes a sincere effort to balance cost and requirements, rather than using "turn-key" and "no-hassle" as an excuse to bulldoze the customer. Our job was fairly small and our budget was limited, but Noah's Ark paid attention and went the extra mile to make sure the job was done right.
Description of Work: Complete turn-key job: removed front door and sidelights, used standard door and custom-built sidelights to fit non-standard (60-inch) rough opening in 30-year-old house; completely removed 72-inch patio door and ornamental window above it, removed exterior siding and trim, removed interior drywall and trim, replaced partially-rotted floor plate, bridged window opening, reframed rough opening to 52-inch width, installed specially-made door and custom-built sidelight, installed insulation, installed siding and trim, installed drywall and trim, taped, textured, and painted interior and exterior.

Great responsiveness by Gary. Was a very small job, but took the time to talk with me. Had someone out the next day and was able to accommodate my work schedule.

I think they are probably the most competitive bid, very friendly, still knowledgeable and great people. They are more a small local business sect but very experience people and again very willing to help.
Description of Work: The other company where I got a quote from is Noah's Ark Carpentry & Siding Inc and they are about to come to see me cause they might be interested in doing the small work and I like them as well.

Everything went very smoothly. Gary was on time for both the estimate and the actual work. The work was of good quality and was performed all in one day, which was a plus. The price was very good for the work performed. We would use them again.
