Gary rebuilt the front of and existing set of cabinets in the butler's pantry with cherry wood to match our furniture. He also removed and reinstalled the incorrectly installed crown molding on our kitchen cabinets and had new doors and drawer fronts made for out kitchen island cabinet. He also removed and replaced some trim on the exterior of the house. The work was carefully done and turned out very nicely. Gary scrambled to complete the job by the date we needed despite having a problem with the glass front of cut for a couple of the doors.
Description of Work: rebuilt fronts of existing cabinets. Made and installed new cabinet doors. removed and correctly reinstalled crown molding on existing kitchen cabinets. Made new cabinet doors and drawer fronts for kitchen cabinets.

Overall, it went well. They came in and did the job relatively quickly. We did have one small issue with a window, but that got taken care of.

Our house is an approximately 23 years old two-story house. There were several exterior areas that had suffered over the years with significant wood rot and damage. I wanted to get the repairs made with materials that would last so I asked that Hardie plank be used as much as possible in the repairs. The owner of Noah's Ark Construction--Gary Kirby talked to me in depth about those repairs we needed completed. I had received several estimates and Noah's Ark Construction submitted a very reasonable estimate for the work we needed done. I was impressed also with the knowledge base and experience this company had for the type of repairs we needed. The work started after a few weeks due to the holidays. Once the work began it progressed smoothly, with some delays that were unavoidable due to poor weather. Gary kept us informed of how the work was going. The windows trim boards were all removed and replace with Hardie boards. I wondered if the seal under the boards was sufficient and Gary suggested that flashing tape could be applied under the boards to help seal the windows. All the work on the windows was excellent with a great fit and smooth seams. Initially I wanted to keep the chimmeny repair as simple as possible so I asked if Hardie panels, the same size as the original masonite panels could be used. Gary recommended using the Hardie planks as this would have a better appearance and I have to say this was the right decision. The planks now blend in with the original siding and the chimmeny now looks great. When the old materials were removed it was apparent there was some support boards that were rotted at the bottom of the chimmney. Gary and the team made necessary repairs that were needed and the small extra cost was very reasonable. The old columns were removed one at a time and replaced with new framed columns covered with Hardy board. The columns were solid and built as load bearing and FAR better than the original columns. After all the repairs were made, the house was ready for painting. The crew first powerwashed the entire house. Then cracks were smoothly caulked and repaired. Two coats of Valspar exterior paint were applied and a second color of paint was used for the trim around the house. The exterior doors were also painted. The paint job was as outstanding as the workmanship on the rest of the house! Any questions were promptly answered. Overall observations-- a great value, a knowlegeable company and work crew, clear pride in the work they do with true attention to detail. All the employees were professional and very courteous. Would certainly use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We needed the repair of several areas on the exterior of the house. This included the complete rebuild of the 25 foot chimmney, tearing off the old rotted masonite and rotted wood trim and replacing this with new materials. Also we needed repair on our windows, having nine windows reframed. In addition we had two 16- foot columns at our entry-way that needed to be rebuilt completely. I wanted to use Hardie plank on as much of the repairs as possible. After all the repairs were completed we wanted a complete exterior wash and paint job with two coats of paint and two colors.

The bathroom wall by the shower/tub did not hold up during a home rennovation project because it did not have the proper backer board. They removed drywall, added studs, salvaged what could remain, then added backer board, tiled and grouted, installed a handicap rail, and helped us fix a flaw in our design. They don't cut corners and go above and beyond. The work area was totally cleaned up. Also, they taught us every step of the way. It was a positive experience by guys that not only do not cut corners, but went above and beyond. The estimate matched the final bill. We highly recommend this friendly and professional company.
Description of Work: Provided list of materials for us to purchase and an estimate for their labor; removed damaged bathroom tile, drywall, baseboard and trim, shower head and faucet set; rebuilt wall and added studs; installed proper bathroom backer board; tiled and grouted; provided design fixes when our design had a glitch; and taught us how to do some things ourselves.

I requested an estimate for siding repair on my house. We scheduled an appointment for Saturday, January 23 and a representative from Noah's Arc arrived more or less on time. He examined the siding and suggested replacing the damaged siding with Hardie Board, to which I agreed. He said Noah's Arc would provide an estimate via email the next Monday, January 25. Today is January 30 and I have not received the estimate. I called Noah's Arc on Wednesday and left a message asking if they still intended to provide an estimate. I have not heard back from the company. Disappointing as this company is highly rated and comes recommended by a co-worker. Perhaps my repair job is too small. If that's true, I wish the company would say so.

Noah's Ark gave us the lowest bid & performed the work on time and on budget. I would have given Noah's Ark an A rating, but when we called them back to perform additional work on the house, they never returned our phone calls. We had also recommended this company to a friend, and they never returned their call. Too bad- I really liked these guys, but I'm going to have to find a contractor that will actually call me back.

We are very pleased with the new siding and paint job. Gary Kirby was a pleasure to work with. He came by to check on progress daily, and maintained good contact with us. The work went a little slower than we anticipated, as it appeared that part of the crew was finishing up somewhere else in the beginning, but once the whole crew was there, it moved fairly quickly. The crew was friendly and considerate. They sought us out when questions came up, and did not go forward without consulting us when it appeared a decision had to be made. They cleaned up after themselves daily, and did not leave a mess. Part of the delay in the beginning was probably attributable to an unexpected need to frame out the soffits to accept the new materials. Gary's bid for this work was substantially less than the other bids we received, and we think it was a very good value.
Description of Work: Removed existing siding on all non-masonry areas of house, filled voids in insulation, wrapped with Tyvek, wrapped with additional insulating reflective barrier, installed Hardie plank siding, soffits, and fascias, painted exterior of house.

It was a very positive experience. They not only did not cut corners, but also added value at every step. It was the hottest month on record yet they carried on. This was a once-in-a-lifetime expense for us yet we felt we got exceptional value for every dollar. We had some extra complications, which they solved because of the added skills of the crew, for example, completing a technical drawing needed for a particular permit. They patiently worked with us to help us ensure we obtain a special Green Star rating, for example, materials and cleanup were managed so well that we were able to find people that can get a second use from the removed siding, the fireplace and chimney inserts, and the garage doors and mechanisms,
Description of Work: Removed all existing siding and trim; removed garage doors and opener mechanism, and built and finished new exterior and interior wall; removed fireplace and chimney inserts and finished interior wall; managed all permits resolving complications; installed new windows and flashing, inlcuding resizing every opening; installed new siding, trim, flashing, and exterior caulking; identified and solved unexpected problems; provided advice, instruction, and counsel thruout.

Everything went really well. I'm rehabbing my entire house almost entirely by myself, but the siding was one of those projects that I had to hand off to someone else or it would never get done otherwise. From the first time Gary stopped by to give an estimate he was professional, kind and very helpful. Not only did he give a great bid for the job, but he was also very willing to give advice and share his knowledge to help me with the rest of my monumental project. Gary's crew was also great. They were also super kind and very pro. They had a lot of work going on around town, and they had to deal with some rain delays on my project, but they always managed to stay focused to get the job done right. From one craftsman about another, Gary and Noah's Ark are worth the money.

They arrived on time and worked through the rain to complete the approximately 60 square feet of siding repair. They did take a full two days to complete the work, which is a day more than I expected. They get paid by the hour and I do appreciate the quality of the work however, at times I noticed them working slower than I would have expected. After they left, I had about 1 hour of work to do to complete the job. They forgot to spackle several nail indents and they did not completely caulk where the new siding meets the window and door trim. I would consider using them again but I would be sure to get a firm time estimate up front.

I am extremely pleased and without hesitation would recommend Noah's Ark Construciton as they exceeded my expectations, and I have high standards. From the tear out to the final touches all the crew were easy to work with, professional, accomadating, flexible, understanding and excellent at all they did. Don't hesitate to make that call to Gary Kirby and Noah's Ark Construciton; they really do put the customer first.
Description of Work: From the first meeting with Gary Kirby assessing my house needs to the signing of the detailed contract and the start and end of the project, the overall experience was excellent. They started when they stated they would begin (only delays were due to rain) and removed the old siding, wrapped the house with Tyvek, a moisture barrier, installed the hardi-board with an abbreviated overlap at my request, re-trimmed the windows, doors and soffit. Replaced one rotten window ledge; painted the house by first cleaning the surface with a bleach wash, caulked all cracks and filled nail hole. Were patient when I struggled with the house colors as they offered great advice. Re-installed all external lights, gutter spouts and a water hose hanger and always made sure the work site was cleaned. In addition, Gary desinged my shutters to match the house color and hardi board siding; a unique look that added more to my curb appeal.

Brilliantly, exceptionally, outstandingly well. Not only was Gary's bid the lowest I'd received so far, at the time of his submission, but just from the manner and nature of our initial interaction, his was the only company that I had any inclination to employ. Gary's level of communication and responsiveness is extrordinary, far above and beyond even the most ambitious expectations. Every call was either immediately taken, or returned within the hour. He consulted where appropriate, but was entirely comfortable and capable whenever entrusted to make whatever he believed to be the right decisions (none of which ever wound up increasing the project cost). Work began exactly when promised, and proceeded exactly as planned, both in terms of budgeting and schedule - and I could not possibly be happier or more completely satisfied with the result. In short, Gary and his crew are all exemplary professionals, all of whom have my total and unqualified endorsement. If you are fortunate enough to be able to obtain their services for any project - because even in this economy, I wouldn't expect that they'll have any problem keeping busy - then be advised: You'd be considering any other option at your peril. My sincere, wholehearted respect and deep appreciation to Noah's Ark in general, and Gary Kirby in particular, for ensuring that a one-time windfall opportunity, to correct longstanding problems with my home that had lingered for years, did NOT wound up ultimately squandered, on lesser work performed by any other company.
Description of Work: complete replacement of original masonite siding with hardieplank; replacement of original fiberglass insulation with new batting; significant carpentry work to replace dry-rotted studs and correct original construction of soffits and eaves; re-posting and repairing fencing; exterior painting of house and trim.

Gary was very responsive. He and his crew finished the work in less than 1 week. They started on time and finished within the given time frame. I was impressed with Gary because he knew where to buy the type of siding we needed to replace (other contractors we got bids from didn't know if they could match the siding). Gary also was one of the few painters that would allow us to have the paint rolled on by hand rather than spray gun (we had to pay a little extra, but I think you get a better paint job by hand). The painters scraped the old spots off, primed, caulked and painted. Overall, we were very pleased with Gary and will definitely use him again.

Due to a family emergency, Gary called in advance of our scheduled time for an estimate. We set up another time and Gary was on time. Gary seemed knowledgeable and the price seemed reasonable, so we agreed. After a week or so, I called Gary to schedule a date. His crew arrived (before we signed and paid for the deposit). The work was completed quickly and looks great. They had to bring in a much higher ladder and I think the job was harder than Gary had anticipated. They stuck to the agreed price. We would definitely hire them for future projects.

Gary Kirby came as a referral from my painter that I found on Angie's List. We played phone tag since it was the Holiday time and my schedule was all over the place. I wasn't in a hurry and knew I was repairing before it had gotten to the point that it could have cost me more. He replaced the entire side with hardy back so I won't have that problem again and two coats of paint. The paint was matched so well that you really can't tell that one side is new. He also fixed an area that was on the back side of my house that had discolored, again the paint matching is impressive. He did that at no charge.

Gary worked with his brother, Winston (painter) and replaced fascia board, siding and trim work. Some of the trim was in awkward places but was replaced perfectly. Before replacing the fascia board, which was of poor quality, Gary made sure we knew what he was using to replace it (which was of excellent quality and not budget-breaking). Gary made suggestions about style of trim that really made a difference in the look of the house. We are extremely happy with the work done and are currently discussing Gary adding a front porch for us!

Gary and his crew did good work. That being said it was strung out over a very long time period. I accepted the bid on May 30, 2007(after two cancellations and re-schedules on his part), the work commenced on June 26, 2007, and it was not completed until August 28, 2007. Regardless of the fact that it was a very rainy summer which caused lots of scheduling problems, this job was basically 15 man days and could have been finished by a 3 man crew in 5 man days. Though there were often 3 men on the job, they would come for 2 to 4 hours and then leave. The job was very strung out and there was someone here (either Gary or the crew coming in and out) for 20-22 days during that 2 month period. It got very tiresome. Further, I had to call Gary back a month later, as some of the windows had not been repaired and were not properly caulked. He refunded monies on that,as I had to have my painter do that work. His final bill was surprisingly over his bid given this inconvenience.
