Mr. Handyman of NW Austin

It went very well. Larry came exactly on time, worked constantly, and did each task professionally and well.

He came on time; did the work quickly and did a great job. They were not the lowest quote I got, but was able to come right away and take care of it promptly. I would hire again when the need arises.

I used this firm a few months ago, and found the job lacking. Following my review, I was contacted and asked if they could come and re-work the project. Gilbert returned and worked a half-day smoothing out the rough areas from the first time. He also took care of some paint damage and holes that happened after his first time, so that was certainly above and beyond. He was friendly and pleasant, and gave no feeling of irritation for having to return to work again. As before, he was great to work with, and the garage now meets our expectation. We appreciate the no-hassle return trip. There were no costs this time.

The two service providers arrived on time. The lead handyman explained what they needed to do and we also went over the estimate together. Then they went to work right away. The crew worked very efficiently and the repaired fascia board and trim looked very good. The price was very reasonable.

The work was done in a timely and workman like manner.

As expected. Efficient and effective. Would use again.

We set up an appointment on Angie's list for today starting from 7:30AM more than a week ago. The handyman was supposed to be here between 7:30 and 8, but it is over 8:45 now, and no one came, nobody called. I tried to call the company, but was redirected to the voice mail immediately.

Fantastic. I had things lined up, so everything went a lot faster than I had expected.

It was okay. Materials weren't included in this deal and they actually went over their time a little bit. It was more than $348 but I don't remember the exact cost. I would probably use them again. They had two people come out. The work is still not completed. They went over, but there's still more to do. For the most part the workers were professional. But one of them left all their garbage and I had to clean it up.

The handyman was very nice and friendly. He showed up when he said and finished all the work during the time allotment that we purchased.

The handyman didnt get to finish all I wanted and didn't have more time. He said he didn't expect to give any more time because I had a Groupon and he said folks with groupons never want more than what they purchased. I didn't care for his attitude. He installed the fan but didn't have time to touch up the paint so I was left with two color of paint (from the previous light fixture) showing.

When the flooring wasn't staying down, they sent someone out again to fix it. The shed door looks perfect.

I did the obvious fix and got new tubes for it. Nada. I figured it must be the ballast. I am skittish with electricity, so I called Mr. Handyman to handle it. I bought a ballast from Lowe's. Rebecca said they were booked for 4 days out, but she had a possible solution. She said she had a guy who lived near us who could stop by late when he finished the job he was on. We said great. It would be after 5PM but that was better than 4 days. Wally Kreykenbohm called around 2PM and said they had gone as far as they could go on his job and he could come right away. Wally showed up around 2:30, swapped the ballast out, and was gone by 3:30. If I have to nitpick, the minimum charge is $226 for a 2-hour block of time. But, I was told that up front and you are paying for fully-bonded, fully-insured skilled technicians. Rebecca even told me what Wally would be driving and what he would be wearing so I would be comfortable opening the door to him. I was pleased to pay the money for the extra effort they made to get someone here and for the quick, professional job, which, BTW, comes with a 1-year guarantee.

On the day of the service, the technician showed up early, but without the address being registered on his mobile application and unable to rectify the situation. He seemed at a loss of what to do without the app guiding him and he had to revert to (horror!) using pen and paper to take notes, based on what other reports for other houses were showing. The inspection was very basic, pretty much a walk around the house with visual inspection inside and outside. The report came 2 weeks later, without pictures, showing the wrong house image and address, without color coding of findings or levels of gravity. In short, disappointing service (although more a reflection on the Home Checkup product, than on the technician or company). Unless you are 80y.o. and unable to bend to look under the sinks and walk around the house, or unable to visit the property, you are better off doing it yourself.

It was good. It ended up okay. The first guy they sent out did not do a good job at all but then they fixed it and they sent another guy out and he did fix it so. It ended up taking longer because of that, I was a little annoyed but then they did send another guy that knew what he was doing first guy didn't have the experience. They were prompt and they were also fairly prompt in getting another guy out to fix the problem so I did like that, they did take care of it they were pretty quick about it, of course it took little bit longer than we had expected but they did make it right and they didn't charge us any extra thing for that we never got another bill I was afraid we were gonna get billed for it cause it took him a long time it was definitely more than two hours work, it took him all day.

Umberto arrived on time and was very professional. I assumed that the door would need new rollers and probably a new track as there was so much damage. Umberto assessed the problem promptly and realized that the door was grossly out of alignment. I had even suggested that we would need new rollers and perhaps a new track but he said he didn't think so. After 45 minutes of painstaking work to level (plumb) the door, it works beautifully. Umberto could have easily up charged me for new parts but he did not do that. He fixed the problem without the extra cost. I was very impressed with his professionalism and expertise. I would definitely use Mr. Handyman of NW Austin again.

The work done was top quality! However, we had an issue with the charges and had to argue to get it fixed right. The dispute was on the coupon for $178 for 2 hours of drywall repair. They tried to add a $50 service charge on top of that (total: $228) which would have cost more if you just hired them flat out without any coupon for 2 hours ($138 + $88 = $226). There is nothing in the coupon that states this! The lady in the office I spoke to was professional but was quite irritated that I disputed this charge. She finally took off the $50 to settle this and sounded annoyed after much arguing back and forth. Note to Mr. Handyman: If you are offering a coupon, that means you are discounting the regular price. If you are going to add hidden charges like service charges to make it more expensive that regular price, don't offer a coupon. The coupon you have does not refer to any service charge. It is a shame as I really like the work that was done and have used them in the past. Too bad it had to take arguing from a customer to point out that there should be no service charge and deal with a lady who instead of being conciliatory at this mistake sounded very annoyed at the customer.

Wally was the kindest and most professional handyman I've ever worked with. I'm a realtor and property manager and I've worked with several contractors over the past decade and he was one of the most kind, patient, courteous and knowledgeable guys I've ever worked with. Tammy was great and responsive. My family just moved to Austin and I've found my go to company!!! I just hate that I didn't have enough cash to give Wally a worthy tip!!! Don't look any further call Mr. Handyman of NW Austin. The very, very best!!

Wally from Mr. Handyman came over on time and did an amazing job. His quality of work was top notch, he was very professional and he also replaced all the old fans/vent/fixtures without any damage to the ceiling. The exhaust fan work especially required some careful work since the new exhaust fan was bigger and required him to cut some drywall and fit the fan in. In an earlier case (different provider) they cut the drywall and we needed to patch it later with painters. No such patching was needed this time since Wally did a great job installing it. I would highly recommend Wally from Mr. Handyman and we would hire him again!

I bought two hours of sheetrock repair from Mr. HandyMan. It took its tecinican more than 4 hours to just replace the sheetrock. I was asked to pay extra for the technician to come back to finish up the work which I agreed. I made an appointment with Mr. Handyman for 10 days later since they told me they don't have any people available at early time. And also, I asked them to send aother technican instead. Other than it took so much extra time to replace just the sheetrock alone, the technician doesn't seems to be proficient on the job he is doing since he kept saying "I am not quite sure, I will need my coworker to take a look at it", etc. This is the reason I asked Mr Handyman to send me another technician instead. One day before the appointment date, I called its office to confirm. But the office person told me that they will skip my job since I asked another technician. Overrall, my experience was very bad. I am not recommend any people to use its hourly promotion since you have no control how long they will spend on the job. And I will not use its service in the furture. Scott

Went great, the vendor explained the process, noted that the area had been previously worked on and made sure the wall and texture was done right. once the paint blended, you could not tell where the hole had been.

We've had Wally out twice and he did a great job! He finished up a bathroom remodel - patched drywall, fixed door trim, painted and hung big mirrors. He also sealed the grout in our shower that our tile guy (from another business) had made a complete mess of. The second visit, he fixed some crown molding trim on our cabinets and re-build and re-hung the door to our shed. We definitely plan on having him back to complete more work. Wally is great!! He was on-time and able to complete a whole bunch of different tasks to really improve how our house looks and works. So much better than having individual contractors who can only do one kind of work. Worth every penny!!
