Very nice and professional. I had to look and point out a few things that weren't done correctly. But, once I pointed them out, he fixed them well.

I was hoping to get a few things but the entire time was spent replacing the front door. They had to install a new frame as well so it is understandable why it took 5 total hours to get it installed,I wanted to make sure the job was done right instead of trying to save time. I have to replace the interior trim back on myself because I did not want to spend anymore money. The guy that came out was very nice and he did great work but the prices came out a bit higher than I would have liked. I was also overcharged a bit due to the math being done incorrectly but I contacted them and they said they would send me a check for the difference.

MR. HANDYMAN ROCKS!! We recently bought a home that needs a lot of renovation. We are not good at this sort of thing, so joined Angies List and decided to give Mr. Handyman a try. We emailed them and received a quick response from the owner Brian. Before the end of the day we were contacted by the office manager Tamie, and had someone scheduled to come to the house and check out the scope of work. Wally came to our home a few days later. He was very knowledgeable and took the time to go from room to room, making notes, taking measurements and offering ideas. Even though Wally came to our home on a Friday afternoon, by the following Monday afternoon, we had the estimates. We would like to add that we did also get estimates from a few other vendors to have a comparison. Mr. Handyman not only had the best pricing, but they are also a one stop shop. Dealing with one company instead of several is the way to go! After receiving the estimates, we realized that we could not afford to do everything right away. However, the estimates were broken down by project. This was extremely helpful for us to decide how to best move forward. Brian worked with us to schedule the work chosen, which was started a couple of days later. Everyone on his crew that was involved, were professional, showed up on time and displayed superb work ethics. Although we did have a few unforeseen problems come up (what renovation project doesn?t?), and also added some painting to the scope of work, the work was still completed in the timeframe that was given. Thank you, Brian, Tamie, Wally, Larry, Kyle, Alejandro, and your co-workers. The results of your gifted skills have made our home better than what we had hoped for. As we save for the next renovation project, it is comforting to know, that just like having a great mechanic, the right hair stylist, etc., when work needs to be done on our home, we will know who to call.

Thank you so much for the great review. We really enjoy working with you!
Initially the company sent a new hire to rebuild the access door. He had no idea what he was doing and made a mess out of the job. After an intervening weekend, I called the company and complained. Their response was excellent and in about one weeks time the door was rebuilt and the siding and carport screen done. I was very pleased with the work and impressed by the companies response to the initial problem. I would gladly use their service again.

On April 14th, 2015 I purchased a 3-D rendering on Angie's List. I was contacted via message immediately asking for my phone number so they could contact me directly & we set up a date for the estimator to come. I was then called the day of the appointment & told the estimator had a problem & needed to reschedule which we did. On the day of that appointment, no one showed! I called the office & was given the excuse that the schedule was mixed up and they needed to reschedule again. The next appointment also had to be rescheduled & he didn't actually get here until May 4th! That should have been a huge red flag but I try to be understanding as I know how life can throw crazy curve balls at us sometimes. The estimator was very nice, polite & profession and even caught an issue with the design that none of the others caught! The one electrical outlet would need to be moved or it would be in the new shower! I was impressed - for the last time. As you can probably guess by now, this was the company I chose to complete our remodel - my very first all new pretty bath! Now all I do is cry. May 21st - we finally get the estimate! We felt it was a good very detailed estimate but there were some things missing and others that were correct so I emailed him immediately & he responded with a modified estimate the next day. Since the timing seemed to be doing better and the estimate seemed fair, we decided to pick them. May 22nd - I was told the 3-D rendering wasn't possible due to time constraints. They apologized & gave me a refund. So I would NOT recommend ordering one of these. Part of the decision to go with this company was also the fact that we had waited for these guys for so long that I felt the other companies would no longer honor their estimates - again, I probably should have asked. Now for the remodel: May 26th - contract signed. We were told the office would notify me of a start date. June 8th - I hear the doorbell & lots of knocking at 8a. When I answer the door I have all these men there saying they were here to start my bath remodel! I was shocked! I was given no noticed of start date what so ever & it just happened I had my surgery scheduled for that afternoon! Needless to say I told them they could only stay until noon as I had to leave! I was NOT happy and it just kept going downhill from there. Jun 9th - project manager called to tell me he couldn't find the door or the window we wanted & that it would be a special order that would take 2-3 weeks. It had been TWO weeks since the contract was signed - shouldn't that have been verified a bit earlier since he had the exact specs we wanted right from the day of the estimate - May 22! We agreed to go with a bigger standard door. He brought a couple windows to the house but both were too big, I told him we would look that night & have one ready for the workers the next day so to not delay the project. Jun10 - we bought two very small windows & we thought together they would work but after they were framed in we realized they looked horrible! The brand new door they put in was warped & had a large chip in the door lock area. I was told that since it was already installed there was nothing they could do! Again the worker left early that day Jun 11 - I had them try- one small window with two glass blocks but it was not installed properly & the manager said I would have to pay for the time for removal & re-installation. We spoke with the owner & explained that this was not our fault as we gave very clear dimensions of what we wanted at the time of he estimate & it was even written in the estimate & they had plenty of time to get the right window! I could have stopped the entire project & asked them to order the window & door I wanted but I didn't! They worked that Friday, the next Mon - Wed preparing & framing but since the Tile installers were expecting to be there the week before they were booked on another project & couldn't come until the following week. Jun 22 - the tile work started. I was told these guys were the best and did fantastic work! WRONG! The main tile guy was rude & condescending to me & only wanted to speak to my husband so he had to go to work late every day the tile workers were here so he could discuss any issues with the main guy. the tile started to be set in the wrong pattern. Fortunately I caught it early enough that it was able to be fixed without too many tiles being wasted. Next they set the tiles too far apart. When I asked why he was using fat nails instead of spacers he said because it was easier to move tiles but it left large grout lines - NOT what I asked for! the accent tiles - the niches that were framed by the contractor were too big so the tile worker had to add cement board but did not add sealant! This was not caught in time to fix this issue. they had the wrong color grout! We had told them we did not want to see the grout lines and it was already too late because of the large spacing so we wanted to make sure the grout was as close to the tile color as possible. Fortunately I was able to catch the tile worker as he was just starting then it took hours as we had to wait for permission from his boss to change the color that they had brought, then the contract manager went to the store and still got the wrong colors! Finally we went that night and picked out the correct colors for the guy. while laying the accent tiles, they just couldn't get the cuts right. I was told not to worry as they would cut smaller pieces and fill in the spaces, instead the guy got tired of doing that 1/3 of the way through and just filled them in with grout! after the end wall was tiled, we noticed the wall was curved at the ceiling! The contractor had framed it wrong and the tile worker just followed the wall! I was told there was nothing they could do, it was too late! That would be their mantra for almost everything that went wrong! there was a sharp edge to the half wall which they said they would bring down but he wasn't careful & it broke and they just filled it with grout! I was told there was nothing they could do. the border accent tiles are not level & the colored accent tiles are wavy. I was told there was nothing they could do. the floor tile we chose was pebble and we were told they had experience with installing these and it would look great! It's absolutely the worse! It's uneven, you can see where every section joins and since it's not laid properly it collects water in small pools in different areas of the shower! It's not even graded properly because we can't even push the water towards the drain. The only way to get the water up off the floor is to use big bath towels. When we brought the tile issues up to the owner we were told they would sent the main tile guy to discuss our options. His suggestion to everything but the floor was - there was nothing they could do. For the floor his suggestion was they could add more grout! Adding more grout would cover some of the stones and just make things worse! As for the finishing of the bathroom, the contractors came back after the tile was done and we had a whole new set of problems! 1. They tried to install the vanity but realized the plumbing had been done wrong! I was asked if I told them where to put the lines? Of course I didn't. How would I even know such a thing. I told them their own contractor had did the measurements and even marked the wall! 2. When they started the painting they painted around the old fixtures which I had to remind them twice I had the new fixtures siting in the garage next to all the supplies they've been using since the project began. 3. During painting they were surprised to hear they needed to paint the all the doors facing into the bathroom. Why would you paint some but not others? That makes no sense. 4. At one point, during the painting of the exterior door, they spilled paint on the brand new tile & baseboard. They did wipe it up but not very well. It wasn't until the next day, in the daylight when I noticed the paint had soaked into the floor grout lines in a few places so it's now brown instead of grey. There's now brown swish marks on the white baseboard! 5. After complaining about the exterior door being put in with the damage, they had agreed to re-install a new one but they just did the door not the frame & I suspect the original frame was just as warped as the door since the new door does not shut flush & even with weather stripping you can see a 6 inch high strip of daylight! 6. When the glass guy finally came a week later he informed me that the glass would need to be put in a different position thereby losing the inside ledge due to the fact that it was built wrong! The project work started on June 8th and was completed on July 16th. A project we were told would take about 2 weeks took almost 6 weeks. We wouldn't have minded the time so much had the project turned out better. We saved up our money and I've waited many years to get the pretty bathroom but every time I walk in it, all I see are the mistakes! We paid them 1/2 up front, and the rest - all but the glass cost - when the contractors finished then paid the last $500 once the glass was installed. So they are paid in full and gone and don't care that we are not just unhappy but very unhappy and very frustrated! We had told them about every issue as it occurred. Every issue could have been fixed as it was happening or directly afterwards but most were not. The shower is the main issue from the framing to the tile but since it would be a very expensive fix, they refuse and we are left feeling like we were robbed! I will NEVER use them again for anything, NEVER recommend them for anything and will tell everyone I meet including strangers NOT to use them!

Response from Mr. Handyman of NW Austin
Ms. [removed member name], if there was ever a case where a company should fire their customer, this would be it. Much of what you wrote in your review is inaccurate or over-blown. Your bathroom turned out beautiful. Yes we had some issues along the way that we addressed, which is typical during a remodel. I had to beg my employees and tile crew to stay on the job because you were so difficult to deal with. We have done many bathrooms with many very satisfied customers. Mr. Handyman of NW Austin
Mr. Handyman sent Marty and he was fantastic! He showed up on time and was ready to put on his booties when I said, "Nah, you don't need those--I have all tile and hardwoods in the house." But he was prepared nonetheless. I gave Marty the rundown of what I needed (and even had a sheet with everything written down because I changed a few things since I initially called Mr. Handyman. No problem--Marty could flex with the changes. We hadn't moved in yet, so our house was basically empty, so I then went to work and completely trusted Marty to work in the house while I was away. When I came back at the end of the work day, I did a walk through with Marty and everything looked great. He came by the next morning at the same time and on time. Marty noticed that I couldn't put in some light fixtures in the bathroom where I wanted to move them because of pipes. Thank goodness he figured that out and he and I troubleshooted how we'd do it. (I ended up changing how I was going to do the lighting.) When he finished that day he did a walk through with me to show me everything. I couldn't have been more pleased. He also cleaned up everything, and so there wasn't any debris left in my home. A few weeks later after our painters had re-painted the interior, I also had Marty come back to do more work (install the new ceiling fans, install some very heavy and beautiful wooden medicine cabinets, finished the install of the lighting in the bathroom, and put in two new faucets in the master bathroom.) That job, too, totaled around $1200. There was one time Marty got stuck on another job and couldn't make it to my place to remove a built-in medicine cabinet that needed removing before our painters came, so Mr. Handyman sent Wally. He was great too! He removed the cabinet and patched up the wall with texture to match our wall's texture and you can't even tell there used to be something there. That job was roughly $250. I would call Mr. Handyman in a heartbeat again. And I would definitely request Marty or even Wally.
Description of Work: Installed drawer pulls (17!) and cabinet knobs (28!) on all kitchen cabinets/drawers. Took down 4 ceiling fans, installed 1 celing fan on patio, installed 3 pendant lights above kitchen island (had to run electrical from nearby lights and installed new light switch to the pendants) and removed three mirrors (one quite large) that were affixed to the wall above bathroom vanities. Did all of this in two days.
wENT WELL. fINISHED IN A REASONABLE TIME. HOUSE LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER AFTER POWER WASHING THE SIDING. FURNITURE RE-FINISHING WAS DONE WELL.

Tamie got us scheduled and was responsive throughout the process whenever we had questions. Roberto did the tile work and did a great job. He truly worked his behind off, as well. Except for one misunderstanding with the plumber (he had us on his calendar for the wrong day), everyone was punctual, responsive and polite. I initially thought they were a bit pricey, but after comparing their bid to a few other companies, turns out they were comparable and competitive.

A Technician named Larry arrived at my home at 9:00 A.M. I showed him the damage, went to the truck for his tools and went right to work. I provided the flashing material and he furnished the rest .Larry worked very quickly and efficiently. Even though it took longer than I thought, it looks great. Larry did a professional job. He took the time to measure and precisely cut each piece. Just like the logo says on their truck, done right. The cost of the job turned out to be more laborious than I thought, but I am pleased with his work and Highly recommend him.
