Description of Work: After purchasing the big deal from Angie's list the beginning of Feb., I contacted the lawn svc for an appt. The salesman came out & was very helpful. The office contacted me shortly afterward to arrange for aeration, topdressing & top seeding with bermuda seed. Initially, I agreed to this, but after some research on my own, I concluded that the beginning of Feb. was not a good time for seeding with Bermuda.The temperature was still too cold. So I contacted my salesman, related my concerns & rescheduled thru him to have the work done at the end of Mar. On Mar. 18, my answer machine recorded a call from the company saying that they would be out to do the job on Mar. 20. That does not compute to me to be the END of Mar. I called the salesman the following morning, which was the earliest I could do this since I was enroute home via airplane on the 18th. I did not speak directly to my salesman, but did leave a voicemail. On Mar. 20, the company's crew appeared at my door to do the aeration, topdressing and seeding, saying that the office had verified with me that this work was okay to do on that day. I sent them away and shortly afterward received a call from a girl at the office questioning why I had turned the crew away. I replied that I had arranged for this to be done the end of Mar. and the girl then responded that she had spoken to me on Monday, Mar. 18 & that I had okayed this. In fact, she had insisted that she had spoken to me. I told her that I was on a plane until that evening & that she needed to change her attitude. The following day I received a call from a fellow in the office to reschedule the work. After my relating to him the unpleasant phone conversation of the previous day, there was no apology. I then stated that I was glad that I did not have this work done the beginning of Feb. because of the weather & he responded that that would have been the optimum time. Well, that clinched it for me!!! The average temp. for Bermuda seeding should be 70 & we were still having freezing temps. The seed would have rotted or been eaten by the birds since it was still too cold to germinate. So I called the salesman & told him I was cancelling the svc. with his company. He apologized for the rude phone conversation I experienced & losing me as a customer.

Description of Work: I have used Emerald Lawns for 9 months and overall the service has been decent. There pricing is competitive and customer service has been good. The gentleman that comes out regularly to do the normal lawn applications is great. The problem that I encountered was when they came recently to do a special top dressing and soil aeration. They notified me (a different person then normal) that they would be coming to complete the job and after it was done I noticed some damage in my yard. I have 4x4 stone blocks that I use for trim around the grass. Many of those stones had been lifted up or moved and not replaced. Most importantly, several days later I noticed part of my fence had been broken. I had called when I noticed the stones had been moved and Luke offered to have someone come out and move them back. It wasn't until a few days later that I noticed the machine they used had broken a part of my fence. I'm frustrated because I don't think a consumer should pay for a service then have to clean up after they leave and fix items that were broken while they partially completed the job. I also don't believe they should have to come back out to clean up after the items they broke or misplaced, it should have been done correctly the first time. In an extremely competitive market (lawn care) it's this kind of poor service that will make a good customer look for another vender to take care of my yard. Update......since I've posted this review Emerald Lawns has come out and fixed the broken fence post. They also came and did a treatment for ants at no charge to make up for the errors. I didn't ask for them to come back out to fix the fence or any "free" service but Luke insisted. I am very pleased with how they've followed up from the initial service.

Description of Work: They are great...always timely, let me know what service is coming up, and best of all, no hard-sell tactics or providing a service I don't need.

Description of Work: I was considering a lawn co. and bought the coupon deal. They were very prompt and professional and I have started year-round service with them. So far I have had core aeration and 2 applications. Their pricing is very fair and they are very easy to work with. They always call the day before they are coming out. I can't comment on results yet since they began in the fall. We'll see how everything greens up in the spring, but I expect good results.

Description of Work: Simple Aeration performed satisfactorily (an Angie's List special); crew was prompt and arrived when scheduled. Phone calls not answered, had to bounce around website to find email pop-up (no email address listed) which is how I ended up communicating. Company tried to sell me several additional and unnecessary services.

Description of Work: the crews were on time and very knowledgable about the job. I could not have ask them to be more polite. The effectiveness of aerating and fertilizing the lawn will show in the spring.
