Description of Work: I received phone calls while at work telling me he was on his way to aerate my lawn. I have a locked gate and told him I needed advanced notice so I could unlock the gate in the morning. This happened two or three times with the same person on the phone. The third time he told me I needed to mark the sprinkler heads so he would not run over them and break them. I, again, told him to give me a couple days notice so I could mark the sprinkler heads and unlock the gate. A couple weeks later I came home with a note on my door telling me he aerated the front lawn (without the sprinkler heads marked) and he would "be in touch" to do the back yard. I have heard nothing since then. I have not used my sprinkler system so I have no idea how many heads he may have broken. Unprofessional.

Description of Work: You will gather from the following that I am not a lawnmaster. Just a long suffering homeowner who depends upon Angie's Services to get me the right people. It hasn't worked! Three times: |Mar 2013 |Company: Aqua Terra |They seemed to be more of a the Sprinkler Outfit but said they also did SOD! and provided a written estimate. |Got their Est.requiring 50% upfront ($1,244). I wrote a check but couldn't mail it (no zip code! on the letterhead). I called and the lady apologized and supplied a ZIP. I went bye their premises and found no one there. There was a small vehicle with the Co. name on it. I called again and was told that they had "other premises" that they worked out of! Bad smell about this. I cancelled. | |Got another rec. from Angie's List: NXNW Cedar Park. |Lousy (very confused written estimate for $2,996.52 all inclusive of sod and other yard work). |On-site work was impressive; good crew and management. |Very poor communications with business owner, Mr. Martin. He seemed to be at odds with field mgr. James McMuth who was very helpful on-site. |I watered the sod as advised by King Ranch delivery rep. All seemed to go OK for a month or so. Then the sod started to get silvery patches. I called Mr Martin for advice! He said "It might be "a fungus". I asked "How can you tell that without looking at it? He said "I don't know but you might try putting some fungicide on it". He also said that James McMuth was fired and refused further help. |Fall of 2013 I picked up on Angie's THE BIG DEAL hoping that this Aeration service and "What will AERATION do for my Lawn". I hoped that this outfit might be the answer to my problems. More Fool I! I spent over $300 on the services and waited over the winter to find if the results of the treatment might get me some grass on my dirt patch. Round about Feb 2014 I started getting that creepy feeling once again when the field rep. Bobby Hugunin, looked over the back yard and pronounced that "This might not be working" But that they "could certainly do a job for me on the front yard"!! There's nothing wrong with the front yard and it was never mentioned in our discussions until then. Meantime I'm out of pocket another $300 for the Big Deal. I said "No" we're talking of the back yard so what do you propose to do? "OK', said Bobby. "I'll have my man down here Friday a.m. and he'll get with it. This was Tuesday/Wednesday. I waited until noon friday the called Emerald Lawns' office. The phone rand a dozen times without answer. I called again 10 minutes later -- same result. I called Bobby's cell phone and he said "I'll get right on it". I wanted to know from him "What happened to my Friday morning service call". Bobby said "I'll get right back" He did. "His guy had a meeting with some horticultural group but would call me and get over to my place later'. Why had he not called me earlier? ENOUGH. I fired Emerald Lawns and they get an 'F" for service. | |Seems like the Lawn Service outfits in Northwest Austin are incompetent, at best, and Angie's List is not providing the support service it promises. Sorry but what else can I say? I'm doing my own lawn repairs now. I'll be 77 in two weeks and had hoped for a better retirement. You haven't helped me at all and I'm out a bunch of money and worse "TIME". Good bye.

Description of Work: Emerald lawns aerated and placed top dressing on lawn and fertilized. They also did a deep tree feeding for my crepe myrtles. Jenny gave me an estimate on the work and was flexible with what I wanted to have done. She was polite, informative and pleasant to work with. The work was done to my satisfaction and I will use them again.

Description of Work: Came out and measured front and back yard. Sent a guy to aerate the front and back yard. Only did a part of the front yard and claimed they needed more help to move the machine down three steps to the back yard. Made an appointment to come back out with more help. Didn't show after me being told by them to make sure I water the night before. Made a second appointment so I watered again. Never showed. Tried to send them a complaint letter on their email and it wouldn't send to the email on their web sight. They didn't even finish the front yard. They wanted to give me quotes for more dirt in my yard etc. With the uncompleted work from in first visit, I quite frankly think that two phone calls and two no shows, after me doing what I was supposed to do to get this done, and that their advertised email doesn't work reeks of scam. They have my info as I've talked to them three times or more. I am now wondering about Angies List Deals. This has all been over a three week period. I threw away $55.00 for basically more effort on my part preparing the yard for their services that were poor at best. If they came out and measured as they said then why didn't they let the crew know that there were three steps into the back yard. Ron Edelman

Description of Work: Fertilize and spot treat weeds. Emerald lawns does an amazing job. the weeds come back as they tend to do but they are very prompt in coming out for between service calls and they are always free. My lawn looks great and they always provide suggestions for things you can do to ensure the best results.

Description of Work: I had a lawn aeration done. I met with the representative first and was very specific about drip line I had under grass around some raised garden beds. It was written on the order. I put lawn flags around the irrigation heads like they asked and even built little flag walls to warn them to stay out of the drip area. They told me I did not need to be present or put flags around my irrigation valve covers. They ran over my drip line and irrigation valve covers puncturing them. They sent out a separate landscaper to patch the drip line, but I just figured out they did not patch one of the places that was cut, after turning the irrigation back on for the first time since then. I patched this last one myself. So frustrating. I will just aerate myself in the future.

Description of Work: This was a Big Deal for $126.00 for full lawn analysis, fertilization and weed control plus turf damaging pest control. I do not feel that the treatment changed our yard at all.

Description of Work: The company does a bait and switch on products. I was told that they needed to also fertilize my lawn and then sent more money. They came to complete the lawn aeration but not fertilize. I am still waiting.

Description of Work: Core aeration. | |The service was provided as described. I don't see the result yet (the grass should grow better from now), but I'm satisfied with the service. The price is good.

Description of Work: tHE AERATION OF THE YARD WHICH WAS THE ANGIE'S LIST SPECIAL. AN EXTRA CHARGE WAS ADDED DUE TO THE SIZE OF THE YARD, BUT STILL A GOOD PRICE. THEY OFFER A COUPON WITH VALPAK OF AUSTIN MAILED TO THE PUBLIC WHICH OFFERS $75 IF THE AREA IS UNDER 5,000 SQ. FT. SO I SUPPOSE I RECEIVED A LITTLE BETTER DEAL!
