He listened to my needs, understood my budget limitations, measured my windows on the spot, and provided temporary shades for my windows (which by the way looked fabulous) while I waited for my blinds to arrive. I got a call for the installation appointment which was scheduled at my convenience. More importantly the expert installation of the blinds by Antonio and Danny was flawless! The blinds make such a difference in the aesthetics of my home. I will be contacting Mary and Rex again for my future window treatment needs.

+ -1 moreWe just built a new house. The model unit had shutters and we loved the look. We started taking bids before we closed on our house. It took Costco 5 days to get us a quote. Budget blinds was our last bid. Rex came onsite and had a bid for us in 20 mins. He was efficient and very professional. Rex had the lowest bid by $600 (including Costco). We didnt fell pressured in any way. After more research the shutters are the same Norman (top of the line) shutters we were quoted by other companies. We signed the contract with Budget Blinds. Rex was very upfront with us that these are custom shutters and it will take 6-8 weeks. We receive a call 1 week earlier than we thought. The installers came out with in days. we had one small leak in one of the windows. I asked the installers to install all the windows except the leaking window (until builder fix leak), Mary (Rex wife) emailed me the next day to see how everything went and to call her to schedule the final shutter install. Working with Rex and Mary has been a wonderful experience. I highly recommend Budget Blinds.

+ -1 moreIn a word - Excellent. The company that builds the shutters did not properly prepare the frames on the larger Windows for shipping, so the were bent during shipping. Rather than making them work - the frames are nailed to the window frame, which Rex could have done, his installers told me it would be better to have the company to build a new set for the two large window (9 ft wide x 6 ft high) frames. I contacted Rex and he got right on the problem and within two weeks the new frames had been built and installed. I highly recommend Rex and Mary. I found them to be highly professional and ethical. Their installers are top notch and made sure every shutter worked perfectly before leaving.
Description of Work: Rex came out and measured all windows (10 windows for custom fit shudders). Two of the windows are 9 ft wide x 6 ft high. Rex discussed with me the different types of shutters and the pros/cons of each. We selected the polycore shutters with 3.5 inch shutters. We also selected the hidden (behind the shutter) opener - no visible post down center of shutter - hidden at back of shutter. Rex, after measuring and discussing with me the options, went off to calculate the pricing, which I have to say based on others pricing was very good for polycore shutters. Rex then came back out to discuss the quote and go over the order. While here Rex suggested I might want to consider a horizontal strip in the middle of the shutter to hide the window frame - I have Windows that slide up and down, so there is the strip where the top and bottom Windows meet. Rex told me he would add this at no extra charge. We opted to take advantage of this feature - it allows us to open/close the shutters independently.

The product turned out great and there was no damage to anything else. They do not take full payments until the job is done and will make sure everything is complete. I would use them again.

+ -1 moreWe called Budget Blinds for a quote to install wood shutters in our new home. Their prices were literally half of the competition. Immediately we thought the quality of the product would be less than desirable. After investigation we found they use a local business that makes the shutters. Another company we received a 6300.00 quote from uses this exact same local manufacturer to make their shutters. Save yourself some money if you are looking for wood shutters. At least take the time to get a quote from Budget Blinds and research a little about the type of wood used and the manufacturer of the product for comparison. I know you will be pleasantly surprised.

+ -1 moreWhen the rep came out to my house for my first appointment, I was relieved that they could measure properly with a neat little gadget. It would have taken me a long time with my tape measure and I probably would have gotten it all wrong. After measuring, he let me look at color options and types of wood samples. I made my selections and was given a quote. I was a little surprised at the price, but I knew these would be done right and would fit my windows perfectly, adding to the value of my home. I signed the agreement and waited for the blinds to come in. Juan was my installer. He arrived 5 minutes before our scheduled time and was very courteous and professional. He unpackaged all of the blinds outside, leaving no packaging behind for me to dispose of. Then he installed all of the blinds, testing them and putting up with my ooo-ing and aahh-ing. (haha!) He did a fabulous job and my blinds look amazing! They were worth the investment.

Although the promised install time was about 2 weeks, the blinds were ready for installation under the 2 week timetable. Victor, the installer, was on time, courteous, and did a superb job! Budget Blinds provided excellent service and is highly customer focused! I would use them again and recommend them to anyone for custom window treatments.
Description of Work: I needed to replace existing window treatments in 3 rooms with plain 2 inch faux wood blinds. I didn't want to spend a fortune so I contacted Budget Blinds for an estimate. We set up an appointment for the next day.

+ -1 more- Rex came to our home and vary much impressed us with his knowledge and ideas about good options for window treatments. He was courteous and friendly.. - Budget Blinds did not have a show room where we could look at various full scale window/door treatments for relative appearance, passage of light, relative ease of use, and associated window treatment hardware, but instead brought small swatch samples of various materials for us to look at - this made selections difficult for us - with our inexperience. - As mentioned above, Rex suggested we consider panels for the doors rather than full roller shades for ease of frequent door opening.- this change we put into our plans - .It took four days for Rex to email us his initial bid, compared with their competing bidder who provided theirs the same day of their visit. And the other bidder's information was much more detailed. Rex apologized for the delay as result of a mix-up of our paperwork with another client's.. - Budget's second bid price for their directly competing job was about $300 more for Hunter Douglas shades and about $40 less than HD shades using their Springs Signature materials. - For the negligible difference in price we decided to stay with the HD materials and the competitive bidder. - As far as experience and knowing the best options for window treatments we thought Rex probably knew better than his competition. - We feel we would have been very pleased with Rex and Budget's work had we decided to use them.
Description of Work: - Rex came to our home and discussed the window treatments that we wanted for 13 windows and 3 sliding glass doors.We were initially considering sheer roller shades for all windows and doors, but Rex suggested panel tracks for the doors for easy opening of a panel or two rather than having to roll up an entire shade each time we needed to open a door.. We liked his suggestion. - Asked Rex to bid 12 roller shades with flat fascias for the windows and 3 panel tracks for the doors using 1) Hunter Douglas materials and 2) Springs Signature materials. - After considering the first proposal above, asked Rex to modify his proposal - leaving off the flat fascias and using a roller shade instead of a panel track for one of the doors (which we never open) , with two sets of panels remaining for the other two doors. - We did not use Budget Blinds for the installation for the reasons discussed below.

Their representative/owner was helpful in making suggestions as to how to construct the blinds to suit our window configurations and privacy needs. I love the look of them, and the quality is very nice. I thought some of the corners could have been matched a little more cleanly, but overall, a nice job.
Description of Work: We purchased 3-inch wooden shutters for three of our four bedrooms. Budget Blinds measured for initial quote, then their installer came out and re-measured to ensure accuracy. The blinds were custom made and ready in 8 weeks -- exactly the estimated delivery time. They were installed in about an hour on a Monday morning.

I had no idea what I wanted and Rex was great to help me in choosing blinds without any pressure. I have 11 windows in the house (its double windows so 22blinds) and went with basic white faux wood blinds. I called 3 companies and Budget Blinds was the lowest estimate, only company to come out to my house as well. It took two weeks for the blinds to arrive and have them installed. Kenny and Kevin were great, professional, polite and friendly. They literally arrived at my home and went directly to work. They cleaned up after themselves and were done in about an hour. They checked all the blinds to make sure they worked properly and even walked me through them. I can't say enough about the company. From beginning of the process to the end, the experience was great. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them to everyone.

+ -1 moreIt went very well. Measuring and estimating was prompt and smooth. Installation was fast and installers appeared competent. One of the real wood blinds has a sliver missing on the bottom, showing the base color underneath, but I guess that can't be avoided with real wood. My only complaint is that measuring can only be done during the day, Monday through Friday. As a single person, employed full-time, that meant taking leave from work. They also told me they prefer to install only on weekdays, but were kind enough to arrange for a Saturday installation anyway.

He helped me select a roman style shade that would match the color and texture of another larger shade in the room and then showed me how it would look with the blackout lining. Budget Blinds shows up on time, Gives extremely accurate estimate of the time until installation and their installers are both prompt and professional. We have been very impressed with both the value and service given by the Rexrodes!

I had to wait for about ten weeks for the order to go through which was a long time. They were very pleasant to do with. They were efficient, polite and they did the job. + -1 moreI did not have work completed, but had 2 estimates. The 1st estimate was a little too high for us at the time. Budget Blinds does work off of a 'mass' quantity order. The larger the order the lower the 'per unit' cost is... but the overall cost becomes very large. After about a month we decided that we could not have blinds at the time due to overall costs. Budget Blinds was very persistent and called numerous times. Never rude, but a little pushy. The 2nd time, about a year later, they were a little less receptive, but nice. They came to the house to measure again and talk about blinds. I was a lot less impressed with the reception I received. The rep was pushy, not as helpful and didn't seem interested in doing work for me. I don't remember getting a call back after this estimate. I heard from a few neighbors the day that he was measuring that he was rude, insisted that a customer take a blind they did not want (due to 'look') even though they were going to pay for it, they didn't want it in their house. He called numerous times and argued over the phone with them. The neighbor told me of another neighbor who had talked to that had the same type of experience. Bad vibes from me. Bad service from Budget Blinds near Lakeway.
Description of Work: I did not have work done, but I did have 2 estimates. He did describe the process for Budget Blinds. Who would install and how long the process would take. The estimate took approx 1.5 to 2 hours... both times. More like 2 hours the 1st time and the 2nd time we eliminated a few of the larger windows and took like 1.5 hours. He was very thorough and did the measuring 3 times for each window to make sure he had the numbers correct. I was shown the window materials and each time I changed my mind (1st time I had NO CLUE what kind of window treatments there were) he would pull another book or sample. I was not given suggestions like I received from other vendors though. Since I had no idea and even expressed my desire to have help... I really didn't get any good ideas that I locked onto for my windows. He pulled the fashions that he thought I would like and when I didn't think it was right he did not offer another 'kind' of treatment, but another color of the same type. It wasn't the most 'creative' meeting I had. I needed and craved creative to meet my 'lack of creativity'. He was very patient the 1st time he came out though.... The company I ended up going with for the 2 windows that HAD to be covered offered me suggestions such as 'using window film' and 'using window fabric/drape' treatments. I had never thought about it and highly respected them for offering me those options. This compnay got my original business even though they were one of the priciest companies. I have had NO issues with my window coverings in over 2 years and never had to call them back out. I wanted to use them again when we decided to do more windows but they had moved away from Austin.
