First, we had to get approval from my HOA. They handled all the paperwork for the approval and the follow-on action item from the HOA. They finished the project on-time and cleaned afterwards. The deck is absolutely gorgeous. We love it.

It turned out great. I would definitely use them in the future. They were extremely honest. What he said that what they were going to do and what they were not going to do came true. The installers were very clean. They cleaned up after themselves. They did an excellent job. The inspector came out. I was very satisfied with the installation of the windows.

Our experience was not really good. We had contacted them to come out and give us an estimate for replacement of all of our sliding glass doors, because we have lots in this house and all of our windows. The salesman was very good. He was very good in selling us product. He said he was an employee but it turns out later that he wasn't an employee, he got a commission on what he sold. He came and spent 2 hours, maybe 3 hours, showing us product. They say they will come and before they leave you will have a written estimate as to what exactly it is it will cost you for the replacement windows. It took him an hour or 2 hours. He was here, did his presentation, went out in his car, sat in his car and did his estimate. He came back and it was like $35,000 but he said if you sign up today we can lower the price by $5,000 but you have to sign on the dotted line today. We signed it because we knew that we had 3 days to back out of the agreement and we had already gotten an estimate from another company that was a few thousand dollars less than them but they were very good at their presentation and the main thing that we wanted was sliding glass doors. There's three of them and they slide open and the whole side of the house is open into the pool area. That's our main thing, we want to do that and he said no problem, we can do that. Okay, that was good. We'll have someone out here to do the final measurements, it usually takes 10 days. I gave him a deposit of 1/4 of it. Finally, we called and said, what's going on, we need to get this moving and finally the owner came with another man who is not an employee who would be the installer on the job. They took all the measurements and they left and they said what we'll do is send you a final confirmation of what we're going to do and so forth. Well, 2 weeks went by. We never got anything so I called them back up, I said, listen, what's going on? Well, we need to do some more measurements. So, the guy came back again and he measured all the windows and doors again. And then, the next thing I know, I get a call from Mark saying that he needs to have a Texas department of insurance person come out and look at these windows, these storm shutters that we already had installed on our windows. They were there to make sure that they are TDI compliant because if they're not, the windstorm certification people wouldn't certify the installation of the doors and windows. So, that guy came out and did his thing. He came back and said he would, they were pretty much compliant because they were pretty new, they would just have to have modest modifications. That was another 2 weeks and then we finally got an email or a call from Mark who said he wasn't going to be able to do the job because the thickness of our walls isn't enough to accommodate the doors that they were selling us. Did we want a refund or did we want them to at least do the windows? At that point I said, just give us a refund of our deposit. But it took months for them to come, they were back here at least twice to do measurements and then they had the guy do the Texas TDI to make sure our storm shutters are compliant. I could not recommend them. They did give us our money back, there wasn't any problem with that. It just took week after week after week. You would call them and they would say well, we're working on it.

We did not use this company for our windows because the price for the same number of windows that we replaced upstairs in the past had doubled in price for downstairs. Windows themselves are good quality, the price exceeded our expectation.
Description of Work: Mark came and gave us an estimate for 14 windows. We used this company in the past and felt the price was agreeable however, we did not like the in house financing. This time the prices was outrageous and unacceptable so we used a contractor we used before.

I'm sure Americraft hires quality contractors to conduct business on their behalf. I initially contracted with Americraft...the sales rep gave a pretty convincing sales script. If it wasn't for him mentioning Americraft was listed in Angie's List, I would have regretted a decision made. The sales rep assured Americraft was the best in the business with price for the project we had in mind (a Pergola). The design drawn up on paper was great. The sales rep went as far as making a phone call to finance the project. Placed all the signed documents in a folder for me. Finance went through and everything seemed to be in order. Mr. Daniel Hermes did a great job in closing the deal and working down numbers that look workable at the time and what lead me to agree to contract, Mr. Hermes mentioned that the owner Mr. Mark L. Smith was a veteran himself and always looked out for his fellow vets. Deal. After he left, something in my conscious told me to check with other companies. I took into a membership with Angie's List and started going through other vendors/contractors. I immediately typed up a letter to cancel my contract and had to overnight it to Round Rock, TX because only had 5 business days to cancel. I scheduled few other contractors and some higher in price and some lower. One particular contractor apologized for Americraft in leading me to a 6 year loan at 6% without giving me other options available for vets. Especially since Americraft owner is a vet himself. What I found out by my most recent pending contractor, Texas Veteran Land Board loans offer renovation and improvement loans up to $20K with terms of up to 30 years to pay back at 3% interest rate. Mr. Smith should have known this, right? Now I have a Wells Fargo credit card that can only be used by those vendors partnered with Wells Fargo...I credit check hit added to my credit report. I am now going through the process of getting a home improvement loan through Veterans Land Board.

I appreciate the candid review. I am an Air Force veteran that is for sure and I do know about the Texas Veterans Land Board Program for vets wanting to improve their home. I have actually helped a client use the program and here is my experience with the Land Board. Time. From initial application to closing the loan was 90 days. It was at that point I could order materials for the work. Security. The Land Board uses the equity in your home for security with a Mechanic's Lien Contract. If your home is paid for this give the Land Board the right to foreclose on your home. Closing. The land board requires the loan be closed in a title office or an attorney's office. We market our products in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, Dallas and Corpus Christi. Logistically is did not make sense. It does not make sense for most of our customers to go this route and because of that our representative are not trained in the Land Board program. Our financing programs are all non-secured loans or lines of credit. No foreclosure worries. We can order and begin work immediately, which in our industry is what our customers like very much. No waiting 4 months for the project to complete. Also, the Texas Veterans Land Board advertises on Radio, TV and direct mail to Texas Vets. It's out there for every vet and if I were buying acreage in the country, I will take advantage of the benefit that my service to my country has awarded me. I thank [Member Name Removed] for his service and hopefully this response will help him in understanding our position on the matter.

I am never that happy to have a salesperson in my home, but this time it was great. The price was great, the service was outstanding and the installation went so smoothly! I was very impressed with the guys that installed the windows. They were quick and they cleaned up so well, that I didn't have to do very much after them at all. I would absolutely recommend this company. And, the windows are beautiful.

It all started with the salesman and ended with all 14 windows being replaced. The work was accomplished in one day, with a second day for touchups, etc. The crew that did the work were very professional, very courteous, and very respectful. As each old wiindow as removed, the crew cleaned up after themselves. They covered immediate furniture/essentials with drop cloths, and then replaced most of the furniture that had been moved in advance of their arrival. The windows look great, inside and out. This weekend with the cooler weather, we put the double hung windows to work to take advantage of the weather as well as the breezes. Mike and his crew did a great job, and we are very pleased with the product and the workmanship and the effort that was taken to make the experience as pain free as possible.

Everything went really well and the work was done just as they said they would do it. They sent out a crew of 4 workers and it took them about 5 days to complete the project. My next door neighbor observed their work throughout the week and also made a comment when they were done that they were very professional and said that the deck looks great. They cleaned up the area at the end of each day and I am very pleased with the end product.

The weather started out bad on Monday with Rain... then the Wind picked up! It is good they had an open garage to work in, because then the tempertures dropped at least 15 degrees. They only had a cat walk to walk on and to work on plus the rafters -- they but did have lights that we had installed, I still would hate being on my knees doing that job! They worked on the Radiant Barrier first, and on Tuesday they did the Insulation. They were Professional, they Cleaned up after themselves, I asked them if they needed anything, drinks, an extra coat, especially when it got colder ~ they needed nothing! Not even a glass of water! They didn't even ask to use the facilities, which I have had SEVERAL CONTRACTORS working here at the house, and at least 75% ask to use the facilities, and the same percentage do not take their shoes or Boots off walking through the house. Rick Odom of Americraft/Austin called and made an appointment, was on time, he was a lot of fun, knowledgeable of his product, didn't take up more of our time than needed, showed the savings and CPS Discounts & well we knew we needed it. He made it affordable, and the products were high quality. I look forward to spreading the word and my BILLS GOING DOWN-I HAVE NOTICED A DIFFERENCE IN DUST already! Thanks Guys!

Although the pricing maybe a little to the premium side, you want expert installation and workmanship. This company and its' people are top notch. They are very professional and care for their customers could not recommend them more highly. When one of the windows came in cracked, they arranged with Don Young people to get it done right away under the warranty. The Don Young Company of Dallas, TX. performed wonderfully. Overall, these people are not the cheapest; but they are reliable, responsive, and the most professional you could hope to find. They are worth the investment because service and quality of this caliber pay off in more years of trouble free peace of mind; and no price can be placed upon that.

Extremely well! From the time the owner came to visit and show us the windows to the time that the work was completed the whole process was smooth and easy. The owner was very knowledgable about the type of windows we were getting and the amoutn of savings we could see. The workers were right on time and finished when they said they would. They were very neat and particular that everything be done right. They left our house clean and even vacuumed the areas where they worked. They were very nice and concerned that the job be done right We even had an issue with one of the original windows and they repaired that immediately upon notifying them. Everything was done to our satifaction. I would definitely recommend them to folks interested in getting this type of work done.

I was disappointed because the company Rep was so personable, professional and appeared very honest. I am convinced that NO ONE should pay up front PRIOR to work to be done. Every thing contracted to be done should be monitored. NO EXCEPTIONS.
Description of Work: The company contracted to install windows and a patio door on my brick home. They measured and installed a total of 8 windows and 1 Patio door. The representative explained that a down payment was required because the windows were measured SPECIFICALLY for my home. The work began on time and all of the windows around the sides and back were installed without any adjustments in measurements, however, I noticed they used no under protection of flashing, nor did they use the foam protection between the brick and the window as protection. The workman explained it was unnecessary. The windows on the front of the home and the PATIO DOOR were measured incorrectly and DID NOT FIT because they were TOO SMALL. The worker placed cedar over the gaping openings. When I complained, the windows were removed and more windows brought that required the SAME adjustment of the cedar boards being placed over the spaces. The worker sealed both sides, top and bottom of the patio door with cedar. The Rep asked for additional money for the 3/4 completion of the job. I refused. Again NO FLASHING was placed between the windows, patio door and the gaping opening. No discounts were given for improper measurements or workmanshiip. In late MAY I called and requested that the patio door be repaired to properly close and lock.. The workman came out within 2 days and informed me that I NEED TO CLEAN the sliding groove from dirt if I wanted the door to close and lock. He put a QUICK TEMP FIX and left. I called back the next day to inform him that my door would not lock. The Rep assured me the door would be taken care of immediately. When they failed to come, I placed NUMEROUS CALLS to the company Rep for help in order to feel safe and secure in my home. My calls were to no avail. I placed all kinds of protection against the door nightly for a period of 5 months!!!. When I finally reached the owner in late October, the workman was sent out immediately and informed me that no one had ever contacted him that my door would not lock!! I had siding done on my patio and the cedar had to be removed. That is when I found out that the door installed is TOO short and a large cedar block placed underneath to account for the large gap and adjusted to fit. This resulted in a space of approximately 1.5 inches between the bottom of the door and the cemented patio. The cedar block was placed over the opening to hide poor workmanship. This gap should have been enclosed with cement.

I have visited with the customer numerous times from the beginning all the way through to satisfactory completion of her work. Our initial agreement was for the 8 windows and patio door for $6750 of which we require the customer to place a 50 % down payment to secure the order. She agreed to this and wrote us a check for half. We measured and had the windows and patio door installed and during the installation, the customer had called me and was talking about the 3 windows in the front of her home. She mentioned that the center window had and 1/8th of and inch more clearance from the window edge to the interior sheet rock than the other 2 beside it.. I told her that I would build her a new window and have it installed. Which we did. After installing the last window I inspected the installation with the customer and she said everything is fine and wrote a check for the remaining balance. She asked me at the time if we did siding and I said yes. She asked for a quote that day and we looked at the area that she was concerned with and I gave her an approximation of the cost of the work at that time because she told me that it was something she would have to put off for a while. We have received exactly 2 phone calls requesting service from the customer and in both cases took care of her service issues. She again had me out to her house months after with windows were completed to give her an accurate cost for cement fiber siding for her home which I gladly did. We parted company on very good terms. To this day I have not received a phone call from the customer asking about the window flashing (which according to the manufacturers best practices only requires caulking) or foam (which is not used in every case due to the minimal space between window and framing of the home). I do appreciate the fact that the customer has given us an A for professionalism and I thank her for that. From my perspective, when a customer makes final payment for the project it is indicative of a satisfactory completion. I would be willing to speak with the customer in the future to hear her concerns personally and to make sure she is still as happy as the last time I visited with her.
