It was exactly what I wanted. When Tim came out to give an estimate, he walked around with me and noted all the particulars I mentioned, and gave me an estimate on the spot. I had an Angie's list coupon, so he took $25 off right there. The guys came out the next day and did all the work as described. I will not hesitate to call them again, as there is a lot more work that could be done to our trees :-) !

great; paid more than the voucher's worth but it was worth it

It went very well, I can't speak about onsite service since it was done while I was at work.

They were very good. They were completely on target with their estimate. They were on time with their work and did an awesome job with all the trees around our home. They also did a wonderful job cleaning up.

I called the company one morning and was able to set up a visit for the estimate on the following morning. Tim arrived right on time and we walked the entire yard. He explained reasons for all the suggested pruning and provided the bid on the spot. We accepted the bid and he said he would have the crew out to our house the same day. The crew arrived around 11 a.m. and Tim walked them through the front and back yards to show them what we had decided to do. They went to work immediately and worked until 5 p.m. They pruned out all the lower dead wood and by that afternoon they had filled a large trailer with the trimmings. They returned around 8 a.m. the next morning and finished all the pruning. They raked up all the small pieces and cleaned up everything. I paid by check, although Tim will accept credit card payments. The crew left with the trailer of trimmings. I am extremely pleased with the efficiency of this company. They did a beautiful job (we have many, many trees that were not pruned for many, many years) and left everything neat and clean. The bid was $1750, but I had a $25 Angie's List coupon, so my total was $1725.00.

I hired them twice. I accidently hired them a second time becuase they had changed their name. When I learned this, I told them I had poor service before. They assured me that their services of great quality. They only completed part of work and charged for the full amount. I called them serveral times and they woldn't answer my calls or come out to finish the work. I had to hire another contractor for $1200 to finish they work they did not complete. I would never use their services again in the future.

The crew was a little late in arriving but they did great work - exactly as I requested - and cleaned up the area better than I expected. The workers and the supervisor were extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I definitely will use them the next time I need tree trimming performed. They even cut the larger limbs into fireplace length and stacked them at a place I designated.

They were a notch better than just good. The only issue I had was the clean up as not complete. They did show up on time and did the work for the price they agreed to do it. Clearly they knew what they were doing and they did it very well.

Tim came by quickly and provided an initial estimate for the work, including cleaning the gutters at no extra charge. The crew came on time and did a great work, and were very flexible in doing a bit of extra pruning. I would recommend getting over quotes as well since Tim came down from his initial estimate. Overall great work and will go with American Tree Service again in the future.

As a result of the drought we lost many trees (especially cedars) last year. They identified the trees we wanted to keep and did a wonderful job of clearing and cleaning the rather large area. Great service.

We called several tree services using Angie's List recommendations. American Tree was the first to arrive. Tim Pruett seemed to think taking down the tree was a good idea. We made arrangements with him to have the massive debris cleaned up and also have a few other branches removed before we scheduled the tree removal. The crew arrived within several hours, cleaned up the mess and removed several large branches that we were concerned about. The next day someone from another tree service arrived to give us his opinion and a bid on removing the tree. This person told us something that Mr. Pruett had neglected to tell us--our tree was so large that to remove it we needed the approval of the City of Austin arborist and he doubted that we would be given permission. He also didn't think removing the tree was necessary--and neither did any of the three other arborists we consulted. We immediately called Mr. Pruett to ask him about this. He said yes, permission is needed but usually no one pays attention to that in our area of the city. We were extremely upset that this "arborist" we were paying for his expertise would neglect to give us basic information. In fairness to Mr. Pruett, at the time he was at our house we were still very upset about the tree and wanted to take it down before someone was hurt. So Mr. Pruett may have been giving us the advice he thought we wanted to hear. However we hire experts for their expert advice not to have them repeat what they think we want to hear. We would not hire this company again.

The owner was a little too quick to encourage me to remove an entire tree when only part of it needed to be removed. But once we were in agreement with what needed to be done, he did a fine job. He also correctly (sadly) diagnosed one of my favorite tree's disease which another tree expert later confirmed. He offered to clean out our gutters for no extra charge which we greatly appreciated. I found it a little hard to communicate with him because his style is so laid-back and passive. But the work he did was high quality and very reasonably priced.

I think their prices are a lot higher than their competitors.

I chose American Tree Service by looking at Angie's list (with best service awards). After contacting Tim, he showed up to give an estimate on the day on time as he promised. He is a very trusworthy person. I did not need to contact someone else to get a second opinion. He described patiently what needs to be done. They came and finshed the job when I was out of town. BTW, our neighbor praised them as well, as they collected fallen branches from my neighbor's yard. After I came home and inspected the work, I determined some missed spots. Called Tim, and he sent his team right away to take care of it. Being a tough customer, I found some other stuff, and Tim sent his team once more!! In short, he delivers until you are satisfied. Keep in mind that I had already paid him before the last two calls. Still, he was polite and delivered what I asked for. I highly recommend Tim and American Tree Service. last but not least, I also liked Tim's team. I had the opportunity to meet them during their last visit. They are all professional and nice guys. I am glad I chose American Tree Service. They really deserve the awards.

After reading all the many positive reviews I decided to contact Tim Pruett. When he called me back he was able to come by that afternoon and give me an estimate on what I wanted done. His crew showed up right on time the next morning (8am) and worked all day, plus a couple more hours the following day (again, showing up right on time). The crew worked with great efficiency and knew exactly what they were doing. Their tree trimming was spectacular; my trees have never looked better. In fact, now I'm not so sure that the tree-trimming services I've used in the past knew exactly what they were doing. Tim and his crew do know. They performed a spotless cleanup of my property when the job was finished. I'm totally happy with the work; it's a huge improvement to my property. Tim kept in touch and made me feel comfortable throughout; he's very friendly and easy to deal with. Potential customers should be aware that the crew can do a lot more than tree work and they do it all quite well. I'll be calling Tim again whenever I need work done around the house, from tree trimming to whatever else he tells me his crew can handle, and from this experience I'm guessing that's just about anything else that comes up. By the way, this was a very costly affair for me but I'm a firm believer in "You get what you pay for". This company more than lived up to the good reviews so it was money well spent. And thanks for the $25 coupon. Every little bit helps.

We liked their work so well, we had them do more trees. Their price was very reasonable.

The day I called American Tree Service, the owner came by an assessed what had to be done. He did not try to sell me more. Tim was a true gentleman. It is difficult to find excellent service in this world, but American Tree Service does it. This morning they came to cut down my limb. Well, my tree's limb would be more exact. They did a quick and wonderful job, and they cleaned up my entire sidewalk in the process. Thank goodness there are still people in the world that know how to do their job with dignity and ethic. I could not recommend a company more fully than I recommend American Tree Service.

They were on time and did the job fast. I felt comfortable asking them to clear a few more limbs while they were here and it was no problem for them. The cost was $100 but I had the Angie's list $25 coupon.

Tim Pruett returned our initial call in a timely manner and set up an appointment for an estimate. He showed up on time and explained in detail what needed to be done. The estimated cost was what we expected it to be. When we scheduled the work his crew showed up as planned, and got right to work. They did an excellent job and were polite and professional whenever I came out to check on progress. Also, they were careful and respectful of our property. We had been concerned about possible damage to septic-field tubing buried in the ground surrounding the red oak so we gave them a photo of where the tubing had been placed, and they were very cautious in excavating around the base. We found no damage to shrubs and trees near either of the trees the crew worked on. We highly recommend American Tree Service, and plan to call them for future work.

We contacted Tim Pruett for an estimate, and he was very responsive and professional. He provided an estimate within 24 hours of our initial phone conversation and spent time explaining exactly what would be done. The four-man crew arrived the next day and did amazing work. They were professional, friendly and very hard working. After the work was completed, they cleaned up and hauled away the trimmings, leaving our yard looking better than ever. We would definitely use this company again.

Tim and his hard work crew showed up at the time scheduled and everything was performed in a professional manner. I had four trees removed and several (five) trees "cleaned up" for what I considered a very reasonable price. My oak trees look great. They did a great job of cleaning up the yard afterwards. I would use them again and recommend them to anyone.

After a tree in our yard split and nearly hit our home, American Tree Service inspected the health of that tree and several others and gave thoughtful recommendations on trimming and removal. The owner clearly explained what he thought we should do and why, and he took the time to answer all of my questions. He worked us in quickly since the split tree was blocking our back door. His crew did great work and cleaned up after themselves nicely. They did forget to remove a few of the trees we agreed upon on the initial day they did our service, however after a call to notify the owner of the situation he sent his crews back out without hesitation and finished the job. I would use American Tree Service again in the future and would recommend them to friends and family as well.

Tim and his crew were courteous, prompt, on time and amazingly efficient. Our two 25 foot oaks now look more spectacular than we could have imagined. The crew also trimmed our overgrown Red-Leaf Photinia and Crepe Myrtles. They too look great. Kudos for a top notch job for American Tree Service!
