Our system was not cooling and we needed it checked for all issues that could be causing it. The technician did incomplete checks and declared the issue was just that the plug was not in place, he did not give us an estimate for approval, he directly billed us to pay $275 for putting the plug in place. After a few days the issue with our cooling reappeared, he came back and mentioned there could be leak but refused to check where the leak was without another payment. When he came the first time he should have at least checked our system properly for the $275 he charged us. They just declared everything is good without even checking with the meter.
Description of Work: They just moved the plug in place and left. They did not check for any leaks in the system, which was the major issue.

I charged $275 to repair a 2 year [Member Information Removed] system that was only operating in the heating mode, no cooling? Upon arrival, the home owner told me the company that installed the system has been out 4 times to fix it and they wanted someone else to look at it. I started in the attic to verify the furnace and ductwork were sized properly, that the zone control & motorized dampers were operating properly, I went through all the control wiring and tested the auxiliary heating circuits, tested the external static pressure (.61”wc) to verify it was within range for the equipment, showed them how to install their own wifi thermostats in the future with instructions on how easy it would be, and then tested the heat pump. I found bad wiring to the reversing valve was the culprit and fixed it. I showed the home owners that the system was also about 25% low on refrigerant and that it would be an extra charge to fix that as well. I provided estimates to change out the Lennox evaporator coil that is under a parts warranty; but labor, refrigerant, and miscellaneous materials that are needed to complete the repair are not covered. The home owners were going to call the company that installed the system and have them do the repairs under warranty since they installed the system. Yesterday we received a call from the home owners that the installing company was not going to warranty an further repairs and bluntly told us that they’ve already paid $275 and wanted the system fixed at no further cost. We politely declined.

We had Aire Serve install 2 mini splits in a large barn to heat/cool. They gave us quote and the final bill was exactly that - no additional this or that added later. Their quote was less than most others and since we’re quite a ways out the others were changing hefty travel fees. The work was done in a very professional manner and right on time. They also helped with all the warranty paperwork and were more than helpful with follow on questions we had as we learned the system. Have recommended them to many and would definitely use them again. First class!
