Abel and Son Landscaping

I really liked that when I set up the service he came out to see the lawn and what was needed, then gave a price and suggested a schedule. He communicates quickly, nicely and respectfully. The service is without complaints.

We have a small heavily landscaped yard with a number of large live oak trees. Our house has a metal flat roof and had collected 2 years worth of leaves and debris. Abel arrived as scheduled to provide an estimate of $1,200.00 for proposed work. He did not get up on the roof when making the estimate. He committed to bringing a crew of 4 including himself. He and his 3 crew men arrived on time as scheduled at 9 am and worked until 4 pm. They removed some branches, small trees, and bushes as agreed and cleaned out all overgrown beds. They bagged all leaves and removed debris from the property in two separate trips. We had a roofer coming at the same time to repair some small leaks. Both Abel and the roofer took photos of the roof and reviewed with me. Abel said that the work to clean off the roof and to really clean the gutters would require additional work and power washing. Based on the photos, I agreed with him. We agreed for his crew to return the next day and to power wash the roof and gutters for an additional $400.00. We also agreed for an additional $100.00 to remove tree branches that were over the house on the long side of the house and that were pathways for ants, bugs, etc. They removed a large amount of tree limbs to protect the roof and did a great job - well worth the add on costs. Per the original quote, they removed about 15 large established bushes in the beds and cleaned them up. They trimmed vines as requested, weeded beds, and mowed the grass. Returned the next day at 8 am as scheduled to power wash roof and gutters. Summary: We had let our yard get overgrown and our previous lawn company was not good at maintaining and removing leaves and debris. We thought the original estimate was on the higher side, but based on the actual work performed, quality of work, as well as additional work identified, we felt it was justified based on the condition of the property. Abel and his crew were very professional. Would suggest to be very clear about your expectations and be realistic depending on the condition of your property. I was working from home while they were working. I had to remind him and his crew about some things to cover, and if I had not been home, I am not sure they would have been done. However, I believe Abel would have come back and taken care of them if they had been missed. I appreciated Abel actually pointing out some issues that we were unaware as taking care of them actually will protect our home and property. We will using him for another smaller project as a follow up.

I have a private area in a condo complex with drainage and erosion problems and overgrown hedges that had reached to my second story. Even though this was a small, one-time job, Abel treated it like it was important. In addition to being thorough and priced fairly, Abel was responsive and fast. Within two days of my contacting him, he had addressed the drainage with rock/gravel and gotten the hedges under control. He even added in some lovely Knock Out rose bushes to class up the area.

I was desperate to find someone to do yard clean-up and maintenance on an every two week schedule at my rental home in Austin. Abel responded to my request promptly and performed the maintenance during a period when the weather cleared up. He called me initially to respond to my request on Angie's list, then we corresponded by text message which was very convenient for me. I recommend Abel highly.

Abel was very responsive to my contact about the yard clean up. He came over quickly to give me an estimate and was in constant touch to update me on when they would start and progress once they did start the job. Abel is very reliable, does an excellent job and is very competitively priced He got the job done very quickly and did a great job. Mr. Gutierrez has been taking care of the landscaping at three houses for me for some time now and I am very pleased with his services. He is very reliable, does an excellent job and is very competitively priced. Recently I asked him to tackle something much bigger for me and that was the restoration of a 1950?s single story rental house I manage. This involved roof repairs, replacing some rotten woodwork including two doors, new vinyl flooring in two rooms, repairs to a concrete pathway, repairs to sheet rock, complete painting inside and out, clearing out a storage building and disposing of a lot of redundant furniture and junk. This all needed to be done on a tight budget and completed in the space of three weeks. Mr. Gutierrez took compete control of the project, did everything he promised he would do to the standard we agreed upon, and did it all on time and within-budget. I was kept completely informed of progress at all times and when he finished he left the house, yard and storage building immaculately clean and ready for a new tenant to move in. Mr. Gutierrez has been a pleasure to work with ever since I?ve known him and I would recommend him to anyone.

I called Abel on Monday and left 2 voice-mails (one at each number provided from Angie's List). He unfortunately did not get back to me till after I left another Voice-mail on Tuesday. When we spoke he told me that he would be there on Wednesday morning to take a look at the yard. He then told me on Wednesday in the late afternoon that his truck was broke down and couldn't make it till Thursday. He showed up on Thursday around 10:30 and called me. I was out of town, so I had him walk around the yard as I was describing the work that needs to be done. We hung up and he was going to text me a quote. I had to ask for the quote later in the afternoon, but quickly replied with the estimate. His estimate was this: Mow, pick up leaves for $390!!! If I wanted him to trim the Crape Myrtle tree's it would be an additional $420!!! You are reading that correct, it is not a typo. $390 to mow my grass and pick up maybe 5 bags of leaves. In addition, $420 to trim the Crape Myrtle tree's!!! WOW- I couldn't even negotiate from here as he wasn't even close to my thoughts. I figured it would be around $300 for everything. WOW!!!! I did say "We are talking about 1 man doing 2 hours of work". He replied by telling me that he doesn't get paid by the hour, it is by the job. At a $190 an hour, I am in the wrong business as doing that for a full 40 hours, for 52 weeks is near $400,000 a year!

Abel had his uncle and son working with him on the job. They were punctual, courteous and professional. I am picky about the bushes - I want them shaped-up but still looking somewhat natural, and he did a great job of executing what I wanted. They did everything we asked, cleaned up everything afterwards, and were fast workers. We were very pleased and will definitely call Abel if I let the beds get out-of-control again!

Very punctual and hard working. He did not stop for the 4 hours except to go and pick up the sand for the yard. However his uncle remained at the house and continued working. Very knowledgeable about plants and which ones are easy to grow.

I continue to call Abel for my yard work and want to add another comment. I really can't say enough good things about him or his work. I needed him to come and clean up my small front yard with all the leaves, twigs and trash from the winter. He came with a 2nd man and they did excellent clean-up in 30-45 minutes. Mowed, used blower and bagged and took leaves with him. He gave me a very great price to do the work and I will continue to call him and recommend him to others in the neighborhood.

Abel is really punctual and responsive. Very hard working. I appreciate that we has on time and available on short notice. He advised me on many things about how to take care of the yard and pointed me to plants that could potentially be dangerous, and removed all that he could. They were very professional and friendly. I will definitely hire them again in the future.

The first service had some extra work done for the frontyard landscaping. Cleaning up the border areas between plants and lawn and the second service was just mainly mowing and trimming. I have smaller lawn area with a rock garden in my backyard. So, I would have expected the cost to be reduced especially if I can commit to regular usage of services. Otherwise, I don't have complaints so far.

Abel did a great job mowing and weed eating our yard and also trimmed some bushes for us. I called him Monday afternoon and he was at our house Tuesday morning. He quoted a very reasonable price for worked performed. I will definitely use Abel in the future.

He's great. He charges anywhere from $45-$100 depending on what he is going to do. I am managing him from far away so he takes a text of my yard before and after in Austin and sends me a picture and he tells me what he did. He did a really good job. He is very honest and dependable. He's great.

I just closed on a house and the yard was looking pretty weedy and overgrown so I wanted to get someone out to tame it. Abel came out the afternoon I got my keys, gave me a very fair estimate and was able to do the work right then and there. In less than an hour he and his assistant had mowed and edged the front and back and he even cleaned up around the front porch area, showing me I had some decorative bushes that were masked by some weeds and a couple of saplings. Even though I just wanted a basic service, I would have to say that Abel exceeded my expectations. I will definitely keep him in mind when I need other work done around my new home that's beyond my abilities.

Abel was great. He called the day after we contacted him. Came out to view the project and give an estimate with in 2 days. He and my husband walked our property and discussed what we needed done. Pretty much - a large portion of our 4 acre lot needed ground clearing and mowing. Some was 1 year worth of growth. The rest was 2-5 years of growth depending on the section of the property. On top of that we had several large dead trees we needed to be removed. My husband scheduled with Abel after discussion the job and costs. Abel is incredibly punctual. He arrived at 8am and immediately got to work. They were a team of 3 and they worked hard all day long. By the end of their first day our land was looking better than it ever had. They came back the next day to finish and put in another full day. We will definitely be using Abel to do regular maintenance once a month so our yard never gets as over grown as it was. We didn't take before pictures of our land, but wow...it looks so much better now. Thank you Abel. We really appreciated all your hard work!

Went great. Looks great> He had done some work in the past for me and I was very pleased so called him back to cut my grass and now he is my full time landscaper. He is so good and so honest. Please call him for your needs.....you won't be sorry. He is the best.

He seemed like an okay guy. I had a problem with him that he did some work for me and after he got done he added $50 to it. He did something different from what he said he was going to do. He piled the mulch about 4 or 5 inches around the trunk of the tree and you are not supposed to do that, that will kill a tree. He used organic mulch that he bought in bulk from some sort of organic place. I went out there myself after he left and started moving this mulch away from the tree and I noticed little white bugs, and they were termites. So, I immediately called him and said, hey all mulch that you put around my house is full of termites. He said well I'm really scared too. He came back out, he brought another guy with him and they took all of that mulch away and dumped it someplace, I don't know what they did. I went and bought at a lawn and garden place glass mulch. He came back and did that. I figured we were square. He wasn't happy about it I could tell but he did what he was supposed to do. But now, when I try and call him he doesn't answer the phone. He decided I wasn't the type of customer he wanted or something. Then I had to pay $500 to get a pest control to come out and ring my house to keep the termites away from my house.

The spring weeds got away from me this year and they were so numerous that I couldn't see my lawn. Other weeds were in my garden. Before my lawn died from lack of sun I needed the weeds pulled and it was more than I could do myself. My house is located over the Edwards Aquifer so we are warned not to use chemical weed killers. I called numerous companies but most of them said that they don't pull weeds. Abel Gutierrez was different. He came to my house, gave me a free estimate and scheduled a time to do the work. He and his workmen arrived on time and spent almost all day pulling the weeds. Abel was polite and professional. I gave him a bonus for the work that they did. The only reason why I didn't give him all "A" grades was because a day or two after they finished the work I found that two of my shrubs were removed along with the weeds. I know that it was just a mistake since Abel was very careful with everything else.

They came the same day, quoted me. Price, and did it within 20-30 minutes...great job, they removed all waste.. Nice guys..

Able and his crew did great. I contacted him to perform his services for my elderly mother's home. We had a bit of a misunderstand on the price (my fault entirely), but Able remained professional and at the end everything worked out wonderfully. My mom plans to contact him again for additional services.

Abel Gutierrez is excellent, reliable, fair in his pricing and I was very impressed with him. I used him twice. Once to do a major clean up on the property on the exterior and the next time to just do together and get a property ready for a rental. He did a very nice job. He’s very caring.

I would not recommend him for others.
