Southwest Irrigation Systems

Some sprinkler heads were not coming on, they came and fixed it, charged around $450, few weeks later the problem happened again, now with more heads not coming on. Called them, they said they need to charge again, not their problem if the problem is fixed or not. They came out again, charged another $450, and two weeks later the same problem again, now I am out close to a 1000 dollars and I have to water manually. And now they don't return phone calls Upon closer examination, I discovered the new wiring to be a disaster (see pictures) and not properly secured in the underground boxes, several connections were exposed, improperly spliced and using wire not rated for underground applications..please see pictures In the future I would not let somebody just charge me by the hour, I should have asked for quotation to have someone rewire with the proper wire at proper depth with proper connections in the plastic box in the ground. I trusted these people and I got taken to the cleaner they did the original installation 11 years ago, at the time the owner Peter Hudson and the supervisor came and explained all they were going to do, they supervised the whole process from start to finish, and it was a positive experience. Now, I got 2 inexperienced people learning on my dime, they spent close to ten hours total and they could not fix the problem. A professional would have fixed this problem in less than half the time, with the proper wiring and connection Tthis business is not what it used to be

Cost wise I found it expensive but that's because I feel like irrigation systems aren't a necessity and find it hard to justify any spending. That being said, the techs fixed the problem and got all the work done within an hour. Also, I appreciated their punctuality and overall professionalism.

At first I thought it was all well adjusted but noticed a few days later that one bush is not getting any water. So we need to adjust this sprinkler head again. The Technician are professional and friendly. It was very hot on this day and I understand that they wanted to leave before showing me that it all was working and all areas where getting the right amount of water. July 28, 2015 - While I would have used the company again I have decided today that I will not use them again. The service is probably good but I just don't have the patience to put up with some office peoples attitude. The Rain Bird Control that replaced my still working control (but is supposedly easier to use) and the Rain Bird wireless Sensor that was installed along with some small changes in my sprinkler system that cost me 765.70 US $ on April 16, 2014, failed while I was gone for a little over a week and some of my lawn is getting brown already. The display window on the control Panel is dead, not showing anything. You would think they encountered this before. Thinking that this was installed only in April of 2014, one would not expect it to fail already. The answer from the office Manager was " you have nothing under warranty" and we have no one available until the end of next week. End of story. Before I spoke with the office scheduler (not sure of the title) and I already know she is not a very friendly person but she does her job so one accepts not being treated in a friendly manner. She just says there is no one available until the end of next week and that is the end of it.

I wasn't going to be home when they performed the service call, so they took credit card info over the phone and allowed me to email my Angie's List coupon to them. They called when they arrived at my home and suggested they would call me if they found anything major. They called me with the price, once the job was completed. They were all very professional - from the front office to the repair men. They did a great job!

These guys are great. They have worked on our system as needed over the past five years. I noticed a problem late on Friday afternoon. They apologized for not being able to get here until Monday but that was fine with me - not really an emergency. They showed up within the stated time frame on Monday, found and fixed the leak then called and let me know about another problem they found of which I was unaware - a line on our system was not working. They arranged to come out the next Monday to fix that, at about $190. They spent at least three hours on the repairs, were kind to my yard and upfront about all costs. I will continue using them whenever I need work on our irrigation system.

It went very well. I called the morning of the 5th and Brandon showed up at the exact time they said he would. The initial problem was repaired quickly ,a rubber hose leading to a sprinkler head. Brandon then suggested we do an inspection of the rest of the system while they were here. During that walk around, we discovered another leak I wasn't aware of. A pest control company had driven a stake through a pipe on the side of the house. That was also quickly taken of. Very professional, very thorough, very punctual and reasonably priced. If you are looking for someone to put in a new sprinkler system or repair the one you have, I highly advise you to call Southwest Irrigation. Bob

Easy to schedule. They came out and looked at the property and provided a proposal promptly for area drain installation. Worked with my budget, made some changes to the proposal to come a bit closer to what I wanted to spend. We had to reschedule the install due to heavy rains to the following week. And just in time for several more weeks of heavy rains. The area drains work very well, there is now minimal pooling on the north side of the house. A few weeks ago we had torrential downpours and the popup covers on the outflow pipes to the street disappeared - my best guess gushing water dislodged them and the wind carried them off. Contacted the company and they ordered the covers and will be replaced today. I am very pleased to work with this company, they are professional and the work was really good.

It went well. It was a good system and of relatively good price. The people were nice. They left the area nice.

I am very pleased with the work done by SWIS. They clearly explained all of my options and communicated with our landscape professionals so the jobs were coordinated with regard to timing and what needed to be done. I would recommend SWIS without any hesitation.

Location of patio drains were not located at low spots. Peter came out and moved them after paver patio was installed. Channel drain was not tied into patio drain as I expected. Peter indicated that channel drain could not be sloped towards patio, which I believe is incorrect since since the entire top edge of pool was re-leveled(i.e. the overall slope of the patio is zero, it does not slope towards backyard). Channel drain grating was not screwed down flat. Peter followed up and had the grating screwed flat. A previous drainage job that Southwest did for me earlier in the year went very well and I give them an "A" for that one. This one I believe could have gone better if communication was better and action on the drains was taken earlier. I would consider hiring again, but would make sure details of the job were crystal clear and all parties understood exactly how things were going to be done.

Technician arrived on time. Diagnosed the problems and leaks very quickly and began work without wasting any time. He installed a flexible pvc pipe so that the sprinkler head will not break next time someone drives over it. He also plugged up sprinkler risers that were not needed and replaced broken heads. I will be putting their number in my phone as my go to guys for any irrigation needs.

They repaired the sprinkler head that I knew was damaged, then found and repaired a line to others that was broken by tree roots. I have used them before on several occasions and it has always gone very well and at a reasonable cost.

Only complaint is that invoice for services was not itemized.

Peter and his partner were on time, resolved the problem quickly. They also provide opinion on the causes of the leak, this helped me to facilitate my discussion with the contractor who repaired my driveway and likely have caused the leak. Charge is based on hours worked + supplied. The charge was fair, and the the job was well done. Very satisfied.

On time. Resolved repair issues very quickly. Very reasonably priced. When I called them, the scheduler advised me of the hourly cost in advance. Repairs were made in much shorter time period than I expected.

They came within the time bracket agreed upon, they found quickly what the problem was (leak between pipes poorly installed, with 90° turns), and fixed it for a very reasonable price. That kind of service is rare these days, they fully deserve an 'A' grade.

Showed up on time, found leak very quickly and were able to fix it for no added cost. Very happy with the service level and my lower water bill without that leak.

Both technicians were very courteous and helpful. There was no hard sell but they did make suggestions to our current system that would provide better coverage. They were on time and explained the sprinkler controls completely. I will definitely use them in the future.

Recognized that I was using valves that were recalled a few years ago and replaced them under warranty even though they were not the original installer.
