Since Sunrise was already engaged with us through our home warranty company for the original plumbing issue, we decided to continue working with them. Their reviews on Angie's list seemed okay, but in hindsight, the good reviews were based on small jobs and we should have been more cautious in proceeding. I had 3 areas of concern which are noted below along with supporting points based on my experience with them: (1) Sunrise Plumbing did not have the expertise to handle a major plumbing repair - They spent days digging around our house (from outside) to locate a water valve box so they could conduct testing and locate the leak. It was apparent they were struggling and didn't know what they were doing. At that point, we were in the middle of the job and it would have been complicated to engage a different plumbing company (our home insurance claim representative advised against that as well). Sunrise did a lot of unnecessary digging on one side of our house that left huge holes and tore up the lawn (the valve box they were looking for ended up being on another side of the house). They re-filled the holes but the lawn and grass looked bad and required additional landscaping work to restore. With the main water line shut off, we were displaced from our home for 5 days. They told us they don't work weekends, but without notifying us, they sent a third party company to our house to dig on a Sunday and they hit a gas line. We were not notified; we found out about the gas line because we happened to come home to pick up some items and found the gas company repairing the line (the street next to our house was blocked off with their trucks, tractors, and all kinds of equipment; they worked all day to repair the line). It was a startling sight to come home to. Sunrise had no explanation as to why the third party company was sent without notifying us and why they did not take any precautionary measures to locate lines before digging. (2) Their customer service is lacking; once we made our payment, it was impossible to get anyone to talk to us or answer questions about the invoice - After the work was completed, my insurance claim representative made multiple attempts to contact Sunrise for clarification on the invoice so he could reimburse us. When he finally heard back from them, they simply indicated that they would provide no further detail on the invoice. My insurance claim rep was surprised by this response and suggested I reach out to them instead (thinking maybe they would provide the information to me). I called several times and could only get through to the receptionist. She is the only line of contact but cannot answer any questions. Each time I called, she would take my message and say that someone would call me back, but I'd never hear back from anyone. This happened 3 times until I finally insisted that she either put me through to someone or provide me a phone number of someone who can answer my questions. Growing increasingly annoyed with me, she told me no one was in the office and she was not going to jeopardize her job by giving me anyone's phone number. She said all she can do is take a message and ask them to call me back. I followed up with e-mails as well, and still no one ever contacted me. Another week later, someone from Sunrise finally called my insurance claim rep back but stumbled on the questions he was asked and ultimately could not provide clear answers on several invoice charges which resulted in my insurance company denying a large portion of the reimbursement I was due. Further detail is provided in the next point. (3) They are unable to justify their pricing - I will take some credit for allowing myself to be subjected to this. I should have been less trusting and scrutinized the invoice line items in more detail before agreeing to the cost. At the time, we were quite overwhelmed. The plumbing issue had caused damage in our home and we were busy working on clean-up, coordinating with our insurance company and a water mitigation company, having to stay with relatives because our water was shut off, and shuffling around 2 small children. I didn't take the time to really understand the invoice charges and was too trusting. After we paid Sunrise and they completed the repairs, we began working with my insurance company to get reimbursement. The insurance company indicated that several line items on the invoice were unclear (as to what the charges were for) and Sunrise could not explain them. In addition to this, they said that while Sunrise had charged us about $750 per foot of digging, after contacting several other plumbing companies in our area, they learned that the typical charge for this work (digging under slab from outside the house) is $250-$300 per foot. In comparison to this, what Sunrise charged us was grossly exorbitant. While we were aware that some of the plumbing repairs were not covered under our insurance policy, other charges were simply refused by our insurance company because they were significantly greater than what similar companies reasonably charge ($750 per foot vs. $300 per foot) or because Sunrise just could not properly explain what the charge was for. I know that many insurance companies are in the business to make money and look for reasons to deny payments to their clients, but I do not believe that was the case here. Our insurance company was fair and reasonable and in the end, I was extremely satisfied with how they treated us overall. The inability of Sunrise to explain the charges and their refusal to answer questions and provide good customer service was unacceptable. Personally, I would not use Sunrise Plumbing again. In the weeks that followed, we had a number of additional plumbing repairs required throughout our house and we used Baker Brothers Plumbing. There was a world of difference in this experience from every perspective - knowledge and expertise, customer service, and cost. I'll go back to Baker Brothers if I ever need plumbing services.

I purchased an Angie's List Big Deal for this service and I think it worked out real well. I would have them back again.

It went pretty well. I had them clear a drain and it the end result was good. However, I don't think I'd use them again because they never followed up with me after the job was done, and follow up is important to me.

My mistake was not asking for the costs of the other repairs upfront,, as I had assumed it was time and materials. He tightened the handles on the previously leaking sink, pulled 2 hair balls off the bottom of the drain stems, and snaked the toilet for about 3 minutes. Not including the$35 coupon for 1/2 hour including diagnostics, it cost me $335 for about an hour and a half of work. $100 each for 2 sink hairballs, and $135 for one toilet snake job. I feel like a prefect idiot!

I got the plumbing service through home warranty, $60 is the service fee. I made the online request on Thursday night, and Sunrise Plumbing contacted me on next day morning. Very quick response! Although they were not able to schedule the same day or over the weekend, they did come the following Monday morning as promised. The problem with my garbage disposal was it failed from time to time. The plumber was able to make it work again, but I was worried about its failing again in near future (because I had already "fixed" it several times). After hearing my concern, they replaced the garbage disposal with a new one. For the leaking in the kitchen drain, they said it was not cover by my home warranty and a replacement unit would cost $150. However, the plumber has very good skill and was able to fix the leaking (at least for now) without replacing the unit! They did such a nice job that I write this review as soon as the plumber left my house. I will definitely recommend them to everyone I know!

The work was done well and at a fair price. Mitchell has done work in my home twice. Upgrades and repairs were accomplished in an expedient manner, he respects your home, clearly and succinctly answer questions and concerns and is thorough in his approach. I was particularly impressed with his critical thinking skills. He is an exceptional problem solver. The scheduling staff is equally as professional. I received the straight scoop and quality work at a fair price. Sunrise Plumbing will be my first call for any plumbing concerns, repairs or upgrades.

They were punctual and very polite. They were very careful not to get the floors dirty and cleaned up after their job. Other than the new toilet, you couldn't tell they had been in the house. There have been no issues since the toilet was installed. It works beautifully. I recommend Sunrise to all of my friends.

This is the second time we've used Sunrise, as we were quite pleased with our first encounter (same tech came a couple of months ago to fix an emergency water heater leak). We called on Monday afternoon to book an appointment to fix our toilets/shower and he was able to come on Wednesday morning - nice! Mitchell arrived promptly at 9am, after first calling to let us know he was on his way. He is a clean cut young man who wears a uniform with his name/company prominently displayed on the front - this may not seem important; however, it sure makes it easier to identify who's at the door. He immediately went to work fixing the shower and thoroughly explained what was happening & why and our options for addressing the issue. (Our circulator runs straight to one of the 2 master bathroom shower heads. One's pressure is so bad it could peel paint and the other merely dribbles.) He explained that we could install a valve on the main pipe; however, it would entail knocking into the tile/wall to do it. Instead, he recommended trying to replace the existing 2.5 GPM head with a 1 or 1.5 GPM head to see if this would alleviate some of the pressure. On the other head, he removed the aerator and it really helped increase the water pressure to a normal level. He then fixed the toilets in an efficient but careful manner. He wore shoe covers while in the house, cleaned up after himself and was just generally an all-around pleasant, affable guy. In fact, he encouraged my homeschooled kids (who were fascinated by what he was doing in the shower) to watch and he explained everything as he went along - that's a heck of a plumber!
