Mason Roofing

After seeing Mason Roofing (MR) signs in the neighborhood and mistaking Mason Roofing for Mason's All Pro Roofing/Remodel on Angie's List I was told by Mark Mason from Mason's All Pro Roofing / Remodel that the company already in my neighborhood was not his but Paul Mason(no relation) from Mason Roofing. Mark said that Paul was a good guy and provided his contact data. I researched reviews on their website and asked them to contact me. They sent MR rep who was very prompt, courteous, and professional explaining the process and setting up a time to look at my roof. MR Rep stated that he was an ex adjuster for insurance companies so he knew what to look for and how to deal with my insurance company which I do not doubt. However, every roofing company I have contacted makes this claim I assume in order to make the customer feel comfortable. MR rep inspected the house for hail damage since we had had hail several times over the past 6 months and advised me that I had a lot of hail damage and it was the 2nd worst roof he had looked at in the past 2 months and I that also had hail damage to the gutters and sun screens so I should file a claim. I filed the claim and MR rep met with the independent adjustor. MR rep called me later and said it did not look good as far as getting my damaged roof replaced but the adjuster was fair. Claim approved for limited damage to gutters and sun screens. Since the damage was just over $1K this and quot;claimand quot; comes out of our pocket per our contract with the insurance company. Summary: Most of the representatives of roofing companies have to be salesmen and they do not make money from doing free estimates but that does not necessarily make them honest or dishonest. The reason I could never recommend Mason Roofing is the integrity of the MR rep sent by the owner that and quot;soldand quot; me on making an almost unfounded claim since there was nothing visible to me to suspect I had any damage other than wind with the missing 4 shingles. I expected the contractor to be my advocate with the insurance company and he was but based on the actual results and comments from that meeting differing tremendously from how bad the roof was described to me before submitting a claim the claim submittal should not have been promoted by Mason Roofing. As an individual with integrity I would have done thing differently. Assuming I had told the customer the truth about the damage to the best of my ability I would have immediately known I had screwed up based on the meeting with the adjustor and spent 15-20 minutes replacing the 4 missing shingles while the ladder was still on the house since I had been told by the customer that there were shingles available on the property. I then would have apologized to the customer and explained how I had erred and that I had replaced the 4 shingles for free as a sign of good faith. What should have happened: Meet with company rep...rep assesses damage...rep states that other than the missing shingles from wind damage there is only some minor hail damage to the gutters and possibly to some of the sun screens which I recommend you pay for yourselves to avoid submitting a claim since it will be far less cost than your deductible. If that would have happened Mason Roofing would have been the first company I would call when it was time to replace the roof in the future based on their website reviews. After describing thru e-mail the whole process and my issues with his representative to Paul Mason the owner of Mason Roofing he stood behind his representative. I e-mailed Paul stating I would have done the same thing if I was in his position (as long as this was the first time there had been a complaint against the rep). As I explained to Paul he was not there during the conversation which led me to make a claim and I have no reason to lie about this situation...(even though I personally erred by not having a couple of companies on Angie's List to give me the estimates).

I was out of town and I required someone who was trustworthy to take care of the problem. Chris Points of Mason Roofing was wonderful to work with and did a great job without my having to be there. He worked with my Insurance Agency and coordinated with us in working out the logistics of the repair. I found him to honest and thorough in getting the work done. I am definitely going to use them in the future. I found the price to be more than fair.
