I called Sears and they charged me $99 to say they couldn't fix it. Samsung hooked me up with L&W appliance. I had issues getting a hold of someone and they finally came back with $69 for a service call, cash in advance. I thought this was crazy because I already knew what was wrong, so i took a pic of the handle and drove over to their shop. Guy asked for a model number and said on this particular model, when the handle breaks, you just have to replace the drawer. A couple days later they did show up with the drawer and they fixed it. It was all just so ridiculous to have to drive 40 miles round-trip to save a $69 service call. The guy was very nice and got the work done quickly.
Description of Work: My great-grandson broke the handle on our freezer drawer.

Repairman showed up today. Since front load Maytag Maxima washer had wet items in it for two weeks, when door initially opened mold formed inside door window. Maytag will send new door but the repairman today says he doesn't think mold is there. Did not call to confirm appointment set for today between 1 & 4 pm. Just showed up at door at 1:44 pm. Said he was within minutes of the house so why bother to call. Unacceptable that it has taken a full month to fix a part on a washing machine in warranty that costs less than $100 and takes approximately an hour to fix. Will NEVER USE LOWES AGAIN. DO NOT USE L&W
Description of Work: Door lock malfunctioned. Could not get the lock reset. Took 2 weeks to send repairman for a 5 minute diagnosis (Washing machine had error code which I went to Youtube and found what the problem was) then another week to get the part in. Wanted to set appointment to repair two more weeks after part came in.

Horrible dishonest service. Will never use them again completely lied on the diagnoses and ordered parts that were never needed. Had another repair man that fixed our washing machine by simply flushing it with a hose. They are only trying to get more money on warranty work from Lowes.

The tech started working to unlock the door on my ken more elite washer. I asked him why when that was not the problem. I told him that the washer had a frailer code f71 meaning it needed a new control board. The tech then read through a Manuel said it would be $50 and he would need to order the part. All this information they had before they came to my house. 6 days and 20 phone calls later I have not been able to get in contact with L&W

Worst possible experience ever. Do NOT use this company. Note what another review said about calling their number...they don't answer. When you do finally get someone, the woman is unprofessional.
Description of Work: I have a brand new Samsung refrigerator i needed warranty work done on. L&W would not answer phone calls. Did not return calls. Failed to call to set up arrival time so I took the entire day off from work. Finally called the day of the appointment to say their technician was sick so instead of coming on Aug 6 they'd be able to come Aug 15. It's ironic Angie's List gives more weight to reviews when work is ACTUALLY accomplished as this agency never would follow through and do the work they were hired to do. The reason they didn't do the repair was because I called Samsung to complain and they fired L&W and replaced them. I will never use L&W again as they were the most incompetent and unprofessional company I've ever dealt with!

L&W is the contractor for Sears Appliances in the Victoria area. Sears sent a message to L&W as of 6/19/2014. As of 07/14/14 they have not yet called to set up an appointment. I have tried calling them, REPEATEDLY...as has Sears and they do not answer. For giggles to see how well working with them will go, why not test call 361-790-9497; Press 1 to be forwarded to extension 131 which never answers and get rebooted into the main system, press 2 to go to the parts department voicemail since they never answer, press 0 to reach extension 130 which never answers and reboots you into the main system, or press any other number to restart the main system. I have called Sears repeatedly trying to get someone to send us to another provider who might actually work but their dispatch is not allowing any other company to service my washer.

This service call started on February 5th and ended in Mid April, 2014. He charged $50 for the service call. Looked at the washer. admitted he did not know what was wrong and was going to contact Samsung about the problem. I called the next day to give a little more information about symptoms and was told he "thought" he had ordered the part. I called 3 times in the following 3 weeks and left messages since no one answers the phone. No call back yet after nearly a month. Since there has been no response, I have to assume he just took my money and ran. Update: after 4 weeks and many unanswered calls it turned out the serviceman never ordered the parts. Once they did come in, the parts did not do the job to fix it. I called back within a week to tell them the problem still existed and was told he would be back. I never got a call back after that. After two weeks of waiting for him to return, I noticed they had not cashed the check so I cancelled the 2nd check for the parts and service call. I even called to tell them I was going to do that in advance and to give them a third chance to resolve the problem. Once again I got an answering machine and never got a call back asking if they could try to resolve the issue. I am not in the habit of doing this and believe a company should be given a chance to make right something that has gone wrong. After three full months of this nonsense, although I'm sure the machine could have been fixed, I ended up buying a new washer just to relieve my frustration of waiting for them to come back or call.

The heating element stopped working on a large window unit in the middle of winter. Called the LG manufacture and they had me call A&W Sales for warranty work. A & W sent a technician out the very same day I called and he diagnosis the problem right away and had his company order the parts. When the parts arrived they promptly came out to install them. I would hire them again for other appliances.

We had been having some very frustrating experiences with other local repairmen -- everything from inability to diagnose mechanical problems to a complete inability to stay in touch by phone or answer messages. L&W was prompt and professional, whether you're talking to the front office or directly to the repairman. The repairman comes when he says he will, or if he's held up in an emergency, he calls and gives accurate information about the delay. Once he asked if it was OK to come rather late, after he had finished another repair, and came by our place at about 7:30pm, even though that meant a long drive home for him and a late arrival. The repair was urgent, so we were happy to accommodate the rescheduling. The repairman has a partner who orders parts for him while he's tinkering. He's very good at diagnosis. His partner can give accurate prices and information about shipping times. It's really a pleasure to work with people who know their stuff.
Description of Work: We needed a major repair to our dishwasher and some more minor repairs to other appliances. L&W always came quickly and did the work quickly a competently. I have complete confidence in them and will use them again on anything around here that breaks.

We had a spectacularly bad experience with Willifords Appliance Repair out of Corpus Christi recently. After weeks of frustration, we switched in mid-repair to L&W Used Appliances, and the difference was like night and day. The Willifords guy kept changing his story about what parts he needed to order, up to three different parts by the time we fired him. He even insisted he would have to take the dishwasher completely out of its cabinet and drive to Corpus with it in order to diagnose it properly! That's when we gave up. At that point we called L&W. The problem was fixed within a week, with a single part that was ordered on the first day and arrived just a few days later. The repair crew showed up exactly when they said they would, both times. They charged only $35 for the first visit. Their total labor costs, including the initial visit, were $110: close to what we got charged by Willifords just for the initial consultation, the difference being that in L&W's case the labor actually fixed the problem. The pair of repairmen from L&W were dispatched out of Victoria, and I think are available in Rockport only on Tuesdays and Fridays. I would call them again in a heartbeat. The office phone often rings busy, but I've always been able to get through by waiting a few minutes.
Description of Work: L&W repaired our Bosch dishwasher quickly and on budget, after Willifords (Corpus Christ) had made a hash of the job for weeks.
