They are an all-purpose construction company. They're very, very good at what they do. They come in, and they simply take care of everything, it doesn't matter what it is, screens roof, shutters, paint, of course, gutters. They just do it all. They're a one shopping if you will. They've been in business a long time. They come highly recommended they have a good reputation. The one thing about them that's important is they don't come in and tell you we'll give you your deductible back, we'll get the insurance money and we'll do the job and we'll give you the deductible back. They don't do that. What they do is they'll come in and will do an outstanding job, but you may not get your deductible back or any portion of it. A lot of roofing companies will do that. The problem with that is sometimes they cut corners to try to do that. So, I could recommend them highly. They did not charge us for what they did not do. Some people complain that they'll come in and do the job and take the total amount of the insurance money for some things they don't do. This company doesn't do it. They don't do something that doesn't need to be replaced, they don't do it and they don't charge you for it. It was hail damage that came through. My roof ended up being $21,000 give or the take. The people are just very, very good at what they do. They do outstanding work. When they leave there's not a scrap laying in the yard. Everything is done. Anything that does not get done right even though they did it right. They commit to coming back and do it again. I had to have one thing they had to come back and do and they went ahead and fixed that. They're a one stop contractor. They take care of everything. Perhaps if you had to have some paint done due to chipping, they'll take care of it. If your fence is chipped due to hail and you need a new paint job on your fence, they will arrange it. They'll arrange the roof, gutters, painting. If you have screen damage, they'll take care of that. Even if you have smokers on your patio r something or new grill covers, they'll even go get a new smoker and grill cover for you if you want them to do that. They pretty much just take care of everything. They come out with the insurance guy and they go over it and that's it. You deal with them and no one else. I had a leak in my roof. it was prior to them actually doing the roof. When they came out they didn't replace the flashing on a dormer on my roof.I had a leak in the ceiling. So, I called them back. The leak was there all along. It's been leaking for years. They came back out and they did fix that. There was damage on the roof on the ceiling of my dining room. They sent painters out. They'll send somebody out. They're very good at what they do. You're just dealing with one individual. You name it, they would arrange to have it done. I think that's their biggest selling point. They're a little more expensive I would think maybe than some other companies. I don't know that I didn't really shop around I didn't want to. They're just a one stop shop. They take care of everything and they do it very well. The people are very kind. I didn't price around. I think I got good value for my money. They like every other company in this area they are overwhelmed. I'm very happy with their response.
Description of Work: They put the roof on. They did gutters and everything that goes with roofing, chimney toppers.

Richard Williams was excellent to work with. He itemized all the repair work and broke down the costs which several contracted had not done for us. He was very professional and answered all our questions prior to the work which proved to us that he had significant experience in the type of work he was going to perform. His crews reported to work on time and took particular care in masking all areas in the kitchen that were not going to be painted. They did excellent work and we were very pleased with the end result. We had some friends view the kitchen and they were so impressed they later contracted with Richard to do a remodel of their kitchen! I would not hesitate to use his company again and highly recommend him.
Description of Work: They did a complete redo of my kitchen and an adjacent bathroom. They spray painted and glazed my kitchen cabinets inside and out (not just the doors), wainscoting in the kitchen eating area ; installed new hinges on the cabinets; removed my wall paper and textured and painted the kitchen and bathroom walls; painted the kitchen and bathroom ceilings; installed a granite counter and new faucet in my bathroom; repaired a foot round hole in the ceiling and installed a toilet.

The carpet wasn't the best quality and we're sorry about that. They came right away. I called them, then they came and brought me samples. They could have used a better grade of carpet otherwise, they were good. They were fine. They were very fast, came right away, and did it all in one day. It was all fine. The price was reasonable. I think I would look for better quality carpet someplace else.

I am a very difficult customer. My first contractor even walked off the job. I called this guy and he exceeded my expectations. Did work not asked for-- free. This company is all you need. I know construction, I know sales and this company gets top marks. They have an expert for every facet of the remodel for less money than a two-man crew. These folks will be doing the rest of my house .

We used Richard Williams and Associates when they were part of Liberty Mutual's Contractor Referral Network Program. Our claims adjuster had recommended them saying that other Liberty Mutual customers were very happy with them. Due to a leak in a toilet supply line, we had a part of the bathroom tiles removed for drying and the trims were removed to allow further drying along with holes in the wall. The ceiling on the storey below the bathroom had portion cut out to allow the subfloor to dry. We therefore needed the tiles replaced in the bathroom and the adjascent wetbar since the original tiles were no longer available in the market, get the trims replaced, get all the trims painted in the bathroom, get the ceiling patched up, textured and have the entire ceiling painted. We dealt with Jeff Berglund on this job. We were happy with the overall results. They painted our ceiling using the exact same paint Sherwin Williams that we had used. After the texturing was done, the paint on the ceiling was still uneven and we saw a dark patch. Richard Williams sent the painter out a second time to make sure it was fixed to our satisfaction. They probably ended up using several coats of paint. We got to chose the tiles that we wanted for the wetbar and the bathroom. Jeff told us to go to the showroom and let us know which tiles we wanted him to use. All the contractors that came to the work were nice. They did the work really well. All we had to do was pay the deductible and for any extra work that Liberty Mutual had not estimated for, we did not have to deal with it. Later on after the work was done, we received a check for an extra amount and we handed that over to Jeff. We have a leak again this year and we would have used Richard Williams and Associates again had they still been part of Liberty Mutuals program. There are a few things that probably could be improved on mainly communication. I would have appreciated quicker responses to my phone calls and emails, and probably work getting done faster. We weren't on a deadline so it worked for us. We highly recommend Richard Williams and Associates based on our experience.
Description of Work: They replaced the tiles in the our bathroom and wetbar, replaced trims, painted trims, put in a dry wall patch, textrured it, and painted the ceiling.

Slow to come because busy. But once scheduled came on time. Work was satisfactory. Price was reasonable. See above
Description of Work: I used this contractor years ago on recommendation of my insurance agent to repair a roof leak. A guy repaired the leak & found/fixed a design problem from addition of a carport that caused the leak. They did a good job so called them again in 2009 for estimate when I wanted to remodel my kitchen. Richard was really busy so slow to respond. His bid was in line with others but was busy so couldn't start work right away. I ended up doing a quick HomeDepot kitchen. Now I wish I had waited for custom made cabinets. Just had to have my prefab cabinets reattached since the were coming off wall.

Working with Richie and his crew was one of the best experiences I have had with a contractor. They did exactly what I wanted, finished on time and within budget. They were not the cheapest bid I got, but the costs were reasonable and I felt I got the services and attentiveness I wanted and was happy to pay the slightly higher prices for that. They took care of little things as they went along and didn't nickle and dime me. They also didn't just get things done without it being correct. For example, one wall in a room had different texturing. Instead of just painting over it, they fixed the texture on that one wall so it would be all uniform. It is that attention to detail that I appreciated. I will definitely be using them again.
Description of Work: Painted 80% of interior of house including new texturing where needed, relocated to outside wall and updated electrical panel box, removed old lighting and installed new can lights in kitchen and living room, installed pendant lights in kitchen, installed new chandelier in kitchen and dining room, painted fireplace and installed new cover, installed ceiling fans in 4 rooms, including adding new switches in two rooms, added bathroom vents in shower area and toliet area, add a missing piece of insulation in the attic

The best thing about Richard Williams is that he was very clear on scope of work and cost. Pricing was reasonable. The crew did a great job. The project was completed on a timely basis. He was responsive to questions or concerns. This is the most recent project Richard Williams and Associates has done for us but it is not the biggest project they have done for us which was done in 2010.
Description of Work: Our home is a midcentury modern from the mid-1960s with a lot of wood including the ceilings with exposed beams. Painted two bedrooms including preparing, priming, painting wood ceiling, beams, trim, doors - extensive work on wood trim, ceiling, beams and doors; build install a cross; replace light fixtures in both bedrooms; replace and paint 2 ft section of trim in bathroom

They were okay but he didn't really ask me what I wanted. He kinda offered me stuff and he was just really kinda standard. The quote that he gave me was like the same as the other company. It was too expensive. But with him, it doesn't sound like the work that he was gonna do was gonna equal what the other company can do. What he was offering, like with the materials, was just not what I wanted. They were very professional and he was very prompt. The price wasn't tailored to the customer's need. He was expensive for me for what they're gonna do.

I will never contact this company again. Complete waste of my time for exterior repairs I'm trying to accomplish before holidays and bad weather. Is this a reflection of their ownership and upper management on how they treat customers and perform their work? I'm extremely disappointed.
Description of Work: NOTHING! Salesman/project manager came out on a Tuesday to review the work I needed - all new soffits, cut in new french doors, miscellaneous exterior carpentry repairs, new front entrance gate, etc. He stated I would have an estimate by Friday. Never heard back. After 2 weeks, I contacted them. "need more time" it's now been 5 weeks and not another word. Either my project was beyond their capabilities or too small or their too busy, but they never responded. Very unprofessional and unresponsive.

It took longer than expected for them to finish the job and they left piles of debris laying around the yard. They finally finished and I paid their invoice. A few months later I was on the roof to trim overhanging branches and found that shingles were gone exposing bare roof in places where they were damaged by the fire. I told the contractor that they missed part of their job and they gave the lame excuse that they thought I didnt want the shingles repaired even tho this was on the estimate. They came back to repair the roof and billed me again for this work! I dont intend to pay them for work they should have done in the first place.
Description of Work: They gave an estimate for fire damage to fence, siding, roof. They were selected over other angies list providers to do the work based on cost. I relied on the list to determine capability and professional conduct of the contractors that I picked for the estimate.

Response from RICHARD WILLIAMS & ASSOC
April 1, 2013 -Updated estimate sent, including fence May 15, 2013 -Approved vinyl siding, fascia, install fence; ordered siding (special Order, 10 days) May 20, 2013 -Fence Delivered May 28, 2013 -Vinyl siding installed June 3, 2013 -Sent invoice for siding, fascia, install fence and replace siding at front of house June 7, 2013 -Stacy emailed to confirm receipt of invoice June 12, 2013 -Customer sent payment of $3,348.09 for June 3 invoice July 14, 2013 -Customer said shingle repair was not done and asked if it could be. July 15, 2013 *Stacy emailed and said we never received approval to move forward with shingle repair so it was not completed. Told customer that if he wants to approve it we could schedule same day or following morning. *Customer said it was on estimate and asked what approval was needed. *Stated that we did not do shingle repair because consent was not given. *Customer approved shingle repair. July 16, 2013 -Shingle repair was completed. July 17, 2013 -Sent customer invoice for shingle repair September 4, 2103 *Mailed past due invoice and sent email follow to make sure invoice was received. *Customer stated that he already paid for shingle repair on June 3, 2013 invoice. *Emailed customer copy of original paid invoice, told him we didn’t put on invoice due to not having authorization to proceed, told him we completed the repair after his authorization & that he owed for this repair and to contact Mr. Williams with any questions. *Customer stated again that line item for roof repair was paid. *Replied by email stating that original estimate was $3,858.08, of which $3,348.09 was paid & did not include the roof repair. *Customer stated that he only agreed to pay what was on the estimate. **Estimate total still has not been paid to date; roof repair has still not been paid for. Customer is confusing the estimates and invoices, therefore believes he has paid for roof repair. We explained this to him several times with supporting documentation and he still refuses to pay his outstanding balance of $240.00.

Had insurance work performed back in April 2010 on our Master bathroom. The shower was completely redone as we had water damage. We also had carpet on the floor that was replaced with tile. The insurance and their work is suppose to be under warranty for 5 years. Since that time we have had them back for water leakage within the shower door frame. We also had to call out our own plumbing company (not associated with their company) to fix a toilet flange that wasn't installed correctly with the plumber they used. When they put the toilet back they didn't bolt it down to the flange. The toilet started to leak and the flange was literally broken in two. I wouldn't recommend them and would propose that you use somebody else. I am really dissatisfied that after 2 to 3 years I am still dealing with their shortcuts and oversights.
