MICKEY CONSTRUCTION

I called Mickey Construction on Friday. Stephen Mickey came to the house on Tuesday, send me an estimate on Friday and did all the work the following Tuesday. When he came to do the estimate, he explained everything that would need to be done, how long it would take, and the approximate cost. He sent me a formal estimate that I signed and he got me scheduled right away. The crew got to my house before 8 in the morning and when I got home after 6 that night, everything was done! Two things I really appreciated: (1) Stephen called me at 1 p.m. just to give me an update on what was going on and (2) the crew cleaned up after themselves, including buying me some new grass squares to replace what they had to dig up. I will hire again if I need more concrete work.

Contractor contacted me almost immediately. Once decsion was made to have him do work - job was completed in 2 days.

Requested 2 bids for driveway extension. Both contractors set up prompt appointments and provided competitive bids. I selected Mickey Construction and scheduled the work for the following week. Stephen and his crew arrived about 7:35 AM and were finished by 12:30 PM. Overall, I was quite pleased with the experience.

Stephen arrived for our initial appointment on date and on time I requested. I explained the scope of what I wanted have done and did a walk through. Stephen completly understood, took measurements and sent me a bid the next day. After reviewing other bids, I called Stephen to setup a start date. He started the job in less than a week and finished ontime. The complete project was very professional, the quality was excellent and the complete process went off very smoothly, start to finish down to the cleanup.

When I called for an estimate, the owner, Stephen Mickey, responded promptly and came to the house on a Saturday to give me an estimate. The price was reasonable and he accepted the Angie's List coupon. His crew (and him) showed up on time, did great work and cleaned up afterwards. I highly recommend this company. I would use him again.

I called Mickey Construction because of the high rating in Angie's List. We set an appointment for an estimate. Stephen Mickey arrived promptly for the scheduled appointment, looked at the job and gave me an estimate on the spot. The estimate was very fair and I told him to do the job. His crew showed up right when he said they would. They removed the old driveway in one day, set the forms and poured the next day. The driveway looked great and they cleaned up nicely. One of the best experiences I have had with home repair and construction.

Stephen Mickey gave us the initial estimate on the work we wanted done. When his crew finished this first part we were so impressed with the look as well as the price we essentially doubled the job by adding additional surfaces to install flagstone. There is no comparison as to how it used to look and what we have now, the crew did an incredible job with the concrete and flagsone installation. Stephen was on site regularly and was easy to communicate with. I would highly recommend for any type of concrete or flagstone work.

Stephen was very attentive and bid the job after discussing the details with us. He came off as being knowledgeable about the work and more detailed in discussing with us how he'd perform the job than our previous concrete guy (whom we did not like). We were under a time constraint and wanted it all done within 2 weeks time (or close to it). He was on time with each stage of the project, except for one day when he called and said that he could not get hold of a particular drill bit (something or that sort) and that it would delay us a few days. It was troublesome for us as we couldn't afford to have the project delayed, but with luck, he called later that day and said that he got hold of one, and the job continued. Secondly, during the pouring process (we had to have the concrete pumped in), the hose must have escaped the mens' hands, and concrete splattered all over my patio (mud and little rocks). Luckily, no windows broke, but the men cleaned things up pretty well. It was an accident, and it was taken care of. In all it was a positive experience, and we enjoyed working with Stephen.

It went wonderfully. He was the first bidder to respond and come out to look at the job. He was always on time and kept me informed as to what was going on. He stayed with the job all day. They arrived early, removed to old concrete, set the molds, poured the concrete and finished it within 8 house. He worked with me to provide exactly what I wanted. They cleaned up when they left. This is one of the best experiences I've had recently. Stephen is responsive, knows what he'd doing and does what he says he'll do. If I need concrete work again, he's who I'll call.

All I can say is I really wish all contractors were as good as Steven. He came to my house and gave me a reasonable quote on a patio extension and walkway for my backyard patio. He arrived the next week as promised and on time. He and his crew immediately started working around 7:30am. By 9:30am, they were already pouring cement. By 1:30pm, they were done and gone.The work was all done correctly the first time and I had no issues with his quality of work. The efficiency he displayed with his crew was excellent. I will surely be using his services again and will also highly recommend him to my other friends. EXCELLENT WORK!!!!!

Steven came to give an estimate on tearing out our old driveway and pouring a new one. His price was fair. He was not the lowest, but you get what you pay for. He showed up each day when he said he would and the work was completed when he promised. He responded promptly to calls and questions. These seem to be rare qualities these days when it comes to construction.

Great experience. We were able to get an estimate within a day of the initial phone call and were scheduled for repair early the following week. They arrived on time for the job and completed it nearly 2 hours ahead of the time promised. Communication was great and the quality of the job was top-notch. Our new walkway looks great and has gone a long way to erasing the memory of the other problems that caused the damage in the first place.

We chose another company that offered more services.

The job went smoothly from start to finish (one day). He gave me terrific after-care instructions that resulted in a beautiful salt finished patio contrasted nicely by three contemporary brush finished long steps that complement the late fifties contemporary look of our home to a T. The best part of working with Stephen was how he listened to my idea of what I wanted and then translated it to an even better look. Where I had said I wanted three steps as wide as the doors, he explained how much better the steps would look if they ran the whole length of the wall. He was right. It looks great. And where I wanted several 3 foot squares, he explained how much more functional larger squares would be, for the placement of patio furniture, etc, and how four equal sized squares would have much better eye appeal. Once again, he was dead on right. Not to mention how much he saved me on all that extra monkey grass it would have taken to border that many more squares. He did the work a while ago, about a month and a half. I've just been waiting for the salt finish to show up (it takes a while to do, it's work) before I wrote his review so I could brag on that, too. It looks great.

Stephen Mickey responded quickly to my request for a bid and supplied us with addresses so we could view examples of his work. Once we selected him to do the job, it was completed on schedule. The craftsmanship met our high expectations. Because of falling leaves, we had to wait for the sealer to be applied, but as soon as the leaves stopped falling, Stephen was back to finish the job.

I called Stephen on Wednesday to get quote and by Friday afternoon at 3 pm I had a beautiful new driveway. The whole process went great from start to finish. This was a difficult job for several reasons. I had a steel carport that covered approx. 60 % of the driveway. He and his crew had to drag concrete approx. 28 feet uphill. Also had wood fence on two sides of driveway with 16" clearance. I paid upcharge for these difficulties, which was justified and fair. Stephen's finisher was fantastic and I truly enjoyed watching him apply his trade. Stephen was very friendly and answered any questions that I asked. He and his crew made the whole project very enjoyable.

Mickey construction was able to begin a week early, and finished the same day they started. I've used this company before, and they seemed better the first time. This time, there were no helpful suggestions and the pad at the entrance to the walk through of the garage would have looked better if it were bigger. There was a some cleanup for me; one big board and a lot of little pieces of concrete, some concrete and brick pavers were left in the yard. There is a little chip in the new sidewalk that the company has promised to mend.

I was very happy with pricing, punctuality and work product. Would definitely use again.

Mickey Construction did an excellent job. Their price was great and they were able to get started within a few days. All interactions with them were friendly and professional. Stephen Mickey explained the limitations imposed by the city on the work we had originally proposed and was very flexible with the scheduling as a result of delays from the city permitting office. We are even considering Mickey Construction for some future work with flagstone in our backyard.

Stephen returned my call within 24 hours and set up a time to measure and give me an estimate. He arranged a time to fit my work schedule and showed up on time. He immediately let me know that at the present time he had several jobs pending so it would be up to 4 weeks before he could get to me. Once cost was agreed, he kept me informed of progress on his schedule. After shooting grades, he discovered I had a drainage problem. He sent over his drain man who quoted a very reasonable price for installing a drain & removing sprinkler heads. Drain work was completed before concrete work began. He called several days before to let me know what day and time they would be starting. The job was completed in 3 days and cost exactly the estimated price. Stephen works with his crew so was on site during the work. All very nice and pleasant to work with.

Called and left message. Message was returned within 24 hours. Spoke briefly and he said, he'd call me back the next day. Didn't hear from him, until the following week. Gave him address and discussed what I wanted done. Never showed up, never called back.

This is probably the best improvement, I've done to enhance the appearance of my home. Stephen really knows his business and was able to lead me, to make a good investment. The previous owner had enclosed the former porch, so the remaining steps just ended abruptly at the front door, no "landing" for even a small welcome mat. It was awkward. Stephen was able to add a "landing" and also widened the steps and the concrete sidewalk, so that it all looked seamless. It's a huge improvement.

We were very satisfied with the whole experience with Stephen Mickey. He came to the house and gave us an estimate as scheduled. We only had a one week window in which to get the job done and he came on schedule and did the job in a single day with only a small amount of clean up done the following morning. My husband decided he did not like the length of one of the sidewalks and Mr. Mickey cut it off with no objections. I found Mr. Mickey to be very dependable and I would use him again.

I was really happy with the work Stephen and his crew performed for me. He did a great job of matching up the rock in the aggregate with my existing deck work , and the result looks perfect. Stephen is pretty busy, which I guess happens if you do a good job, so we had a hard time getting a date scheduled in time for a party I was having which was supposed to be on the new deck. I had to bite my nails a bit, but as promised, the work was done in time for the event and the end result is perfect. I had two other contractors walk away from this job, in both cases without even bothering to call back , so it was refreshing to work with Stephen, who called to keep me up to date on scheduling constantly. He will definitely get all of my repeat business.

I called company and the man I spoke with told me he was "too hot and tired from working at a big job all day", and he could maybe come out to do a bid later that week after he finished said job. He called a few days later and left a voice mail message. I did not return his call; the work was already done, as another contractor came to give a bid and was able to start the next day.
