As good an experience as we could have hoped for, and much better than we expected.

Stephen Mickey was one of three contractors I contacted for an estimate to demo a broken concrete slab floor in my garage and pour a new one. He made an appointment to provide an estimate the same day; the other contractors waited several days to return my calls. Of the three estimates. Stephen's was in the middle; he was also the only one of the contractors who gave me a firm date for starting the work and agreed to add a stair into the house from the garage at no additional cost. On the day of the job Stephen's crew was prompt and efficient; they actually finished the work a bit ahead of schedule and the work was first-rate. I would definitely use his service again and would recommend him to others.

I was looking for somebody to pull down an old patio and re-build a new patio that would require a city permit. A current contractor I have been working with told me they didn't have a plan to present to the city, but he had drawings for me to look at. They already asked to build without a permit, so this is sending up red flags. Stephen explained to me it requires an architect to put together a plan for the city, so this helped explain why I haven't been presented with anything. Unfortunately, this company doesn't build decks, but was very helpful in recommending me to another individual that is also on Angie's list and is in my area. I appreciate his helpful response and wish he was in the deck business. Very helpful!

Stephen and his crew came very early on Tuesday morning with a front-end loader and equipment to break up the concrete and remove the old driveway. The crew worked swiftly and professionally in busting up, loading and trucking the old concrete to a recycling center. They started by 7 a.m. and were gone by 10 a.m. They were back on Wednesday morning at 6:45 a.m. and immediately started leveling the ground, setting the forms, and installing the rebar for the new drive. The job was ready for inspection by the city inspector to review by 9:30 a.m. The concrete arrived on time at noon. Stephen plus a crew of five men worked steadily spreading and smoothing the wet concrete. They had completed the finished drive by 3:30 p.m. and did a beautiful job. They also were conscientious about cleaning up the entire work area and posting cones with caution tape to protect the new drive. We are very pleased with their work and our new driveway.

We decided to obtain an estimate from Mickey Construction after reading the reviews on Angie's List. The owner provided us a bid within a couple of days. He was very thorough explaining the details of the job. However, the amount of the bid submitted was three time higher than the company we hired to do the job. We would consider using him in the future.

It was an unusually smooth experience. I called Steve, he came out the next day, I believe, we discussed what needed to be done. We needed to have the back porch and patio replaced. He soon sent us an estimate that we thought was very fair, so we made arrangements for a date that the work should be done. We decided later to also replaced the front sidewalk, and I have to say, the price for that was amazingly low. The work went off without a hitch and the results are beautiful! Steve was a pleasure to work with and his workers were as professional as he is. I can't recommend his company enough.

Steve as owner was there hands on and called several times to let me know what he was doing and where we were in the process. they did a great job putting the lawn and such back in the same condition they found it and also leveled the area that was pooling with water. i would use them again for sure.

Awesome! Stephen was very quick at coming out and quoting me a price. Even though he had not performed the services I requested in my city before, he was not hesitant to get the permit and work through the system's bureacracy. The driveway was widened and completed in 2 days and it matches and looks beautiful! He had an efficient crew of guys who were professional, hard-working, and cleaned up before they left. I could not have asked for a better experience! Thank you Stephen!

The job was completed on time, and looked amazing!! I particularly appreciated the fact that Mr. Mickey showed up personally at the job site, and did not simply farm out the job to his employees. Unable to be at my residence on that date, Mr. Mickey (via cell phone) kept me apprised of the status of the job throughout its completion. As promised, no plants were harmed during the process!! In order not to harm the plants, the workers had to be very careful in pouring and leveling the new concrete, a job which required them to lean over the sidewalk in order to pave underneath the overhanging plants. The finished product was exactly what I wanted. I could not be happier with the results, and the professional manner in which Mickey Construction handled the entire matter.

The entire job job went very well from initial appointment meeting to finish. The crew arrived on the day promised and all was completed on time. Stephen has followed up with us on two occasions answering any and all questions to our satisfaction. I plan to hire Mickey Construction in the future for additional concrete work.

They did a good job, prompt and efficient. There were no problems.

We had a fairly large area in our backyard that was elevated and had been covered in gravel as a make-shift deck and decided we wanted to finish it. I called Mickey and we set an appointment for him to look at our "project" and give us an estimate. Mickey showed up for the appointment on time, evaluated the area and gave us a few options regarding what to do. We concluded the best solution would be to partition a portion of it and pave a portion of it to create a functioning space for us to set up an outdoor ping pong and foosball table. Mickey measured the space and within hours delivered an estimate (based on a few assumptions) and gave us an address to go see a sample of similar work. We still weren't sure what we wanted to do -- but we liked Mickey's ideas, saw the quality of his work and thought his price was fair. When we discussed timing we had told Mickey we wanted the project done within a month and he told us he was booked through the holidays but he would try to fit us in if we agreed to the project. A week later he called to tell us that he had an opening. We still weren't sure about what we wanted to do, but we agreed to move forward and figure it out together. The next day Mickey and his crew showed up 15 minutes early and we discussed options on creating a functioning deck. We agreed on on a plan and within 6 hours we had a new deck that we absolutely love. Mickey and his team were outstanding to work with. They were clean, professional and -- most importantly they paid attention to detail.We now have a leveled deck that has improved the look and functionality of the space 100%. Honestly, I don't know if he is the cheapest game in town because -- although I planned to bid out the project -- we liked him so much we just moved forward. From what I've heard, his price was very reasonable. No matter what, you get what you pay for and I believe our whole experience was well worth it.

We needed a 16'x20' pad at the end of our side-entry drive for a carport. After we called him, Mr. Mickey arrived to survey the job the next day. He promised a quote within 48 hours, but we received it within 12 via email. He secured the building permit, scheduled the concrete and was ready to poor within two weeks. During that time, he kept us informed. Even though he was very busy with larger jobs, he made us feel as though we were his only customer. On the day of the installation, the crew and Mr. Mickey arrived at the time schedule. They were courteous and efficient. During the poor, while Mr. Mickey was managing another job, I wanted it move the location of the safety curb by one foot. The crew was accommodating. The pad looks great! We could not be happier with our choice of contractor.

Stephen returned my call the day that I initially called him and came out the next day to look at the area where the patio was going to be. He is very knowledgable, friendly and gave me a verbal estimate but also sent me a written estimate later that day or the next day. The estimate he gave me was what I paid. He kept in contact with me and told me how long it would take. He was easy to talk to and i never felt like he was "rushing" thru his appointments/phone conversations with me. I highly recommend Mickey Construction and I would definitely use him again.

Mr Mickey and his team were very professional and very helpfull and responsive to any conserns or questions I had. I was amazed at the dedication each one of the guys had for each other and the job at hand because they completed the entire job in one day and worked exceptionaly well with each other. I have had a multitude of complements of how much this driveway has made the neighborhood and my property look amazing and I fully agree.

We had Stephen Mickey come out to give us an estimate back in the fall when he was offering a really good coupon. He was always prompt with communication. We signed a contract to pour a new driveway immediately after the estimate. We had several scheduling issues based on work conflicts and serious illness, and were never able to schedule. Several months later, we were finally able to sort out our schedule. Stephen honored his original estimate and coupon even though they were long expired and the price of concrete & rebar had gone up considerably. His crews arrived early, were courteous and efficient. We'd definitely use this company again.

Stephen and his crew completed the work over two days. They did they prep work on one day and poured the patio on the second day. They removed the existing 5' x 5' pad completely and hauled it away. They poured the patio as well as a step for the back door. All of the work was done while I was out of town. Stephen sent me a picture when he was almost done to let me know how it was going. When I returned home all had been cleaned up and the patio looked great. Excellent work. Stephen called me the next day to make sure everything was OK. I am very pleased and highly recommend them.

It went extremely well, I could not have asked for better work.

1. The grade trough works well except for one pooling about 1/3 of the way from the southwest corner to the drain.2. Pouring the new patio required the capping off of one sprinkler head, which he did. However he did not tell me where the leads were that fed water to the head, necessitating my having to pay for considerable digging in the back yard in order to connect a new sprinkler head.3. Within the first three months of the installation, small cracks began to appear which, in the two years since the initial cracking, they have lengthened and widened developing into some approximate 60 feet. Cracks are now in five of the six sections of the patio, one new one appearing in the past month. There is also serious spalling near two corners of the house--one by the back door and one by a down spout. New spalling has occurred since last week's rain in the widest crack near the garage. It became apparent to me the patio was going to be in need or serious repair or replacement in a very short time. In order to determine if the initial installation was structurally sound and the concrete could be successfully repaired or if the basic structure was at fault and would need correction before repair/replacement of concrete was instigated, I hired a structural engineer to evaluate the patio and help me in this decision. His findings:"1. Observed cracks are in the range of 0.02" to 0.03" in width. What is generally considered acceptable to exposed concrere to ensure a long and useful life is 0.016, or about 1/2 that of the subject slab cracks. The large apalling (a triangular piece of concrete approximately 8"X4" and broken completely out) is not acceptable by any standard. By the down spout, a series of cracks around the corner indicate that it is likelyl a large piece of concrete will come out there.2. While many builders consider #3 rebar @ 18" each direction 'standard', it is often insufficient to resist the forces of movement when placed on expansive soils such as the subject residence.3. The pattern of cracking around the reentrant corners are consistent with the lack of additional reinforcing ("diagional bars") necessary at such locations4. The excessive cracking in the proximity of the [drainage] "trough' is consistent with what is seen when a massive area of concrete attaches to a thin slab. Additional reinforcing is necessary in those locations5. Spalling around the perimeter is caused by vertical movement of the slab relative to the foundation. Movement is to be expected and an expansion joint or control joint would have been appropriate in this application. Conclusions:1. Proper placement and usage of reinfocing steel would have minimized the cracking of the slab.2. An expansion joint between the slab and the house would have minimized the spalling of the concrete slab where it joins the house, and should have been used there."

Answered my phone call immediately, and came by the next morning to give me an estimate. He also gave me the address of a similar driveway that he had recently replaced for me to look at. He sent me a written estimate the next day, and once I had accepted, scheduled the work for a day the following week that was convenient for me to be there. Arrived exactly on time, and did all work in a very professional and competent manner. Finished the job on time, and did an excellent job of cleaning up. I was very pleased with the quality of the work and would certainly recommend and use them again.

I got several bids and they were below cost bidders. They were responsive and they did an excellent job. I had a lot of work done and they far exceeded code. They did it in such a way so that it lasts a life time and it looks like it will. They did an excellent job.

They did a very good job and took care of everything. They also worked with my insurance company because the damage was done during a storm. Overall, I would definitely recommend them.

They did an excellent job, five stars! He did was he said he would do and we got a quality job at a fair price. He worked with me and everything that everyone said on his reviews were true. I had a few issues after the project was done but they came back and fixed them. You couldn’t ask for more.

He did work, a lot of work. He is a man of great integrity. We had so many people that wanted to do big huge things or kill an oak tree to fix our steps but he did the most common sense thing and made two small steps. He was the only one that addressed the foundation issue and put steel in it. It didn't matter what the cost was it just mattered that it was the necessary thing to do. He is the man to call. He is a fine young man. He wasn't inexpensive but he did good quality work. He gave us an address of a house to go look at the stain work of a patio that he did.
