MICKEY CONSTRUCTION

It went great! They took about three days to complete the project from start to finish. What I really want to say is fantastic about Stephen is his responsiveness. When we were moving some new dirt around in the background after the porch was completed - we found a large 8x8 area of concrete slab that he and his crew had missed. It was under the porch they had taken out and was original to the house. We had already paid him and I called him on a Saturday about the discovery. First of all, I did not expect him to answer, and second of all I did not expect him to schedule a time to come out and take care of it the following Monday. I have been stood up by contractors after they have received their money and Stephen was not one of them. He came out, saw the problem, and took care of it immediately. We were impressed with his pricing, his crew, and his follow up with the customer. We would definitely use him again if the situation ever arises.

The old concrete was jack-hammered out and hauled off, forms were installed and the new concrete was poured and stamped with patterns that we had selected, all in one day. The job was done very professionally by Stephen's crew, with him coming by periodically during the day to review progress. A couple of weeks later the crew came back out to add shading color to the stamped slate pattern, and a reddish color to a contrasting used-brick soldier border, as well as to apply 3 coats of sealer over everything. The sealer coatings darken the integral color of the concrete a good bit, which I didn't realize, but the final product is still quite good-looking. (The crew were throwing away too much of the good St. Augustine grass that they had dug up, but I managed to retrieve some of it.) Overall the job went very well and for the price quoted. We are satisfied at this point. I'll know within the next 5-10 years whether the concrete holds up w/o excessive cracking, if any, which is what we expect it to do.

Stephen was very nice and we enjoyed talking with him. I think his company would do a good job. However, he hit us with a price that was totally out of line and totally unreasonable. We had gotten (2) other bids and his was by far (many dollars) higher than the others. The other companies were also on Angie's list with all "A" ratings. I think maybe he really didn't want to do the job for us as it was just a small patio, however, he could have just told us that instead of insulting us with such a ridiculous price! That was totally unprofessional as far as we are concerned.

Stephen showed up as scheduled, measured, gave final bid and scheduled date that would correspond to my wife being out of town so as not to have to deal with noise, dust and inconvenience of not having access to garage. Crew showed up on scheduled day, were late due to a flat tire, but Stephen showed up on time and apologized for delay but stayed til crew got there and began demo. New driveway was framed out, rebar and sand done on second day. Third day concrete poured and driveway completed that day. Barricades put up at either end of circular driveway and framing removed following day along with clean up. During clean up, crew noted 2 broken water lines in sprinkler syste. They attempted to repair but couldn't. They called Stephen and he called me to say he would have his plumbing guy come by and fix it at his expense. 1 1/2 hours later, plumber came and spent 2 hours to complete the repai, cleaned up after himself and tested the system before leaving. Stephen was on site each day to oversee project and all crew were polite and courteous. The whole experience was a positive one and although I hope never to have to replace the driveway again, I would use Mickey Construction for future concrete work and would recommend them without reservations. Super friendly, courteous, ethical and on time and very reasonably priced. What else could one ask for?

Met with Stephen about a month ago to get a quote and explain what I wanted to do. He had to coordinate his schedule around me due to some other work we were doing at the same time. He was able to get me on the schedule quickly but I had to move the date due to the other work and he was able to accommodate my request and push it a couple weeks. The crew knocked out the project in a day and just as important kept my neighbors happy by respecting their access to their driveways. The new driveway looks great and is exactly what we were looking for. This is construction, there are always going to be challenges with project scheduling and completion, the key is to work with the people, respect the job they have to do and the timing of people and materials to complete your project. You have to go out of your way at times and be flexible if you want your project done right. These guys work on tight schedules and have minimal downtime, they aren't sitting around waiting for a call. The good ones are scheduled two and three weeks out, be patient and appreciate the work they do.

I was happy that they were able to come give me an estimate without my husband or me having to be at the house. I didn't even consider using them once I realized they left my back gate open and my dog escaped (I let him outside after I got home without knowing the gate was open). Thankfully, a neighbor found him and called me. I hope this company will be more careful in the future!

I contacted them to take a look at the retaining walls and dock slip on the lake which are in need of repair. They have been exemplary in trying to set up a meeting time to take a look at the project and give me a bid. Unfortunately, I have yet to be available when they are in my area, but they are still trying and I appreciate their time and effort.

Everything went as expected. Ecellant work.

I never had the opportunity to do business with them, since they never responded to an inquiry I made on their website contact form. I could only assume that they were not interested in the job I was asking about.

They arrived exactly when they said they would and Stephen communicated what they would be doing every step of the way. They tore the driveway and set the metal supports on one day and poured the next. They had to wait on the Plano inspector an extra day so he could check out the alleyway connection. Mickey's Construction used #3 rebar on ~15" centers through out the pour, used 4000 PSI concrete mix (not cheaper 3000 PSI concrete), 4" thick, grading to 6" thick where it connected to the alleyway (per code). I found Mickey to be very knowledgeable about concrete, as well as the forming and pouring process. He was very good about communicating when they would be there, and his crew was punctual, on time, and cleaned up after themselves. I asked him several technical questions based on the research I had done (I am an engineer by trade) and he passed with flying colors and was on top of all the issues. I want contractors I use to be knowledgable about their trade and not just do things based on how they have done them in the past. Experience is great, but it must be combined with strong technical knowledge in order to get the best results. Additionally, I found Mickey to be very helpful and accommodating. I had a bunch (`10 yards) of concrete scraps that needed to be hauled out of my back yard from another concrete pour, and his crew carted it out and hauled it off at basically the cost of the dump truck. Overall, a very pleasant experience. Would highly recommend them, and would use them again.

The overall experience was great. Stephen was very responsive and his crew came out on time and finished the whole project as promised.

Good from the get go...quick response, estimate in writing, professional and timely. He designed a driveway to fit a "small" area / a limited space, his crew was wonderful, the work was done as stated and the driveway looks great. In the late afternoon some kids broke through the tape and walked, wrote, drug their feet on the newly poured driveway, the police caught them and Mickey's crew came back out at NO CHARGE and redid the driveway. Excellent service, excellent work, I would use them again!

They came out to look at the project, told us they would send us a bid, never heard from them.

Our experience with Mickey Construction was so pleasant and stress free. Owner made appointment right away and then we received written estimate next day. Work scheduled within a week and crew actually arrived 20 minutes early. Crew was efficient and cheerful. Work was impeccable. House looks better than it ever has! This was the "best" experience with contractor ever!

They did a wonderful job. Permits were pulled in time for the job. They showed up on time, allowed me to watch the framing and adjust when questions arose. Followed through with relocating of irrigation.

Stephen Mickey was on time and professional from consultation through completion. During last summers drought the concrete decking around my pool shifted. Other companies gave higher or lower bids but Stephen took the time to listen to my needs for the pool deck and came up with the option that best suited me. His team did superior work. Because I do not have an alley or direct access to the back yard, they had to haul out the jackhammered pieces through a side yard and then front yard. Most companies would have torn up the grass and decorative stone. Not Mickey Construction. They constructed a walking path that made their work easier AND saved my yard! I would 100% recommend them for their work, their professionalism, and their attention to leaving behind a great looking pool deck and a happy customer.

We saw Steven's high Angie's List rating and gave him a call along with a couple of other providers. He came when promised and provided us the best quote. We contracted with him to do the work of replacing our driveway. We waited a few weeks before they could begin the work, but he explained that it was going to be that way up front. He brought a large crew that finished the work in approximately half a day. He was present and supervising most of the time. He set up for a city inspection which took place just before concrete pouring (they check for rebar, etc). The inspector said Steven was known for his quality work. We could not be more pleased with everything. He explained everything thoroughly up front and all went as he had indicated it would. I personally appreciate his patience, because I always ask lots of questions. We highly recommend him and his crew.

Everything from initial contact and estimate to final clean up was handled with care and professionalism. The work was performed 2 weeks before Christmas. It's a very busy time. Everything went beyond my expectation. Stephen is one of the best professionals I have ever dealt with.

It was an excellent job, completed in two days. Mr. Mickey did exactly what he said he would do, when he said he would do it. The job was fast and efficient and it was interesting to watch. Dump trucks and cement trucks arrived when needed and completed their activities without disrupting normal neighborhood street traffic. Mr. Mickey personally supervised the job. His crew was professional, several had been with him for many years. Cleanup was fine. The price was competitive. Very important to research and carefully choose a contractor for this type of work -- if it goes wrong, it's going to be a big problem.

Communication was excellent. Mr. Mickey always returned my calls or responded to my emails promptly. He is extremely knowledgeable about his work, very direct, no-nonsense and easy to deal with. The work began on time and actually finished a day or two early. The crew was very polite and professional. They worked efficiently to get the job done. Before they stopped work each day, they cleaned up the front yard as much as possible. They also put up safety barriers to make sure no one used the front pathway while it was under construction. Best of all, the end result looks fabulous. It's made the front of the house look very classy. We were totally satisfied and very pleased with the result. I highly recommend Mickey Construction.

Stephen provided a bid within 24 hours of viewing the work to be performed that was very competitive. Unfortunately, the timing he had available to perform the job was outside of my desired completion and another contractor was selected.
