Mr. Meras handled the business transaction and checked regularly on the workers. Their work was punctual and they cleaned up afterwards. I am totally satisfied.

Meras Tile & Design is not listed as an assumed name in Dallas County records as of April 18, 2015. I spoke with Arturo Meras only by telephone. We agreed that he would call me back, but he did not. Although Mr. Meras may have good reviews on Angie's List for his past work, I am not willing to trust someone who does not record his business name as an official busines

To be fair, the issues I had with Meras were the same I have with most contractors I've hired - you get a great sales pitch from the owner or salesman, and then workers who come out go ahead and do whatever they want. Often, they don't adhere to everything that was agreed upon. For example, we were told we could have epoxy grout to prevent the constant mildew that tries to come back over the years, no matter how much you bleach it. The actual foreman, when he comes, says "oh no, you can't use epoxy when the grout line is that thin." So we had to go with the standard stuff, and he didn't even use non-sanded, so a few months later, it started falling out in places. The foreman was good, when he was around. If not, you couldn't really communicate with the workers to give them any instruction unless you speak Spanish. Aside from all that, the work went pretty well the first couple of days. But when the job stretched out longer than they'd anticipated, it seems that they pulled their regular crew and just sent out someone green. The quality of work on the last day was sloppy, rough grout on the corners of the floor, etc. They were in a hurry to put the glass sliding door frame back onto the tiles, which had not fully set up. The result is that the frame made one of the tiles bow out at a weird angle, instead of lying flush like it should. It bugs me every time I take a shower, the edge looks like it's dirty. I hate to leave non-positive reviews, but if I'm being honest, this was my experience. Maybe yours would be different. As I said, they seemed like nice guys, just got in too big a hurry.
Description of Work: I had to have rows of tile broken out and replaced along the bottom of a tub/shower enclosure, so that it was close enough to the tub lip to hold the caulk line. Regrouting of floor and shower in old 40s bath was done, and the ceiling of the shower was tiled.

Arturo was professional and has a clean, neat and respectful crew. The pricing was competitive. The tile work is beautiful. Arturo worked with me to make the shower exactly as I wanted, offered suggestions and kept me updated during the project.

The work is beautiful. Unfortunately a lack of professionalism, in terms of follow up and organization, prevent us from recommending Meras Tile. We had two showers and a kitchen floor re-tiled in 2013. The showers look amazing and the tile work is first class. But during the following year the kitchen floor grout began to crack. I'm not sure if this is due to movement in the house or bad grout. We can't find out because Arturo Meras will not return our calls or follow back up. We finally spoke with him in September 2014 and he asked that we text him our address and he would schedule a visit to look at it. We never heard back. Several months have passed trying to reach him and we are giving up. Either he is avoiding us because he has more profitable work, or he is severely unorganized. Both are bad. He promises a 1 year warranty on all work. However, because he hasn't returned our calls I do not consider him standing up to his guarantee. It's too bad because we really liked his work and had more jobs planned for him for the future. Now we will find another provider that will hopefully have better business management skills.

Arturo and his guys were fantastic! We had closed on our new build home and had the builder leave the fireplace and kitchen backsplash blank. We also did not have them install our wet bar or craft retreat area. My husband and I did not want the routine spec home fireplace design and I wanted to design my own craft retreat area. My carpenter also charged about half of what the builder would have charged. I didn't want to select the backsplash until the granite was installed and they had their time frames. After we closed, I had a design that combined stone and wood in a more modern aesthetic. I contacted several vendors regarding installing my design and doing the backsplash. The fireplace is a two-story fireplace and I wanted the stacked stone to go to about a foot under the ceiling beams. A few vendors could do both jobs (kitchen glass tile backsplash and stacked stone fireplace), but a few could only do one of the jobs. The other issue was that I wanted it done sooner, rather than later. After my other bids, I decided to contact Meras Tile based on the good Angie's List reviews. I wondered if I would actually get in contact with him since most of the reviews said he seemed busy. He called me back the next day to set up an appointment. Arturo was nicely dressed, personable and was a consummate professional. He gave several suggestions regarding my ideas and the installation of both my FP and backsplash ideas. We tossed around a few "what if's" and he said he would get me a bid in a couple of days. When I received the bid, Arturo's price was in the middle. I decided on Arturo because of his personality, knowledge and we just seemed to think alike. I supplied the stack stone and backsplash glass material and he supplied everything else that would be needed for the install. He came by to pick up a check for half the bid. I had to delay their start because the tile I had ordered for the backsplash did not come in on time and my carpenter had not finished installing the fireplace mantel. Arturo rescheduled for me and thankfully was able to get me worked in a few days later. Like I said, he was awesome! Arturo mentioned it would take about 2-3 days to complete (with one day being the grouting after the tiles had set). Arturo arrived with his guys and directed and gave instructions about what to do. He did measurements on backsplash and decided the best way to lay it since I had changed the tile from a 2 x 2 mosaic to a 2 x 12 glass tile. Arturo's team showed up on time each day and took care to protect my hardwood floors with canvas tarp. They completed the job on time and it looked wonderful. After they did such a good job, I asked him about doing the floor in the wet bar upstairs. He took a look and I told him I was waiting to decide what vendor we would use for the granite. He said he could do that. I wish I had known because we could have knocked that out at the same time. I told him to bid me a Level 2 granite price. He gave me the name of his granite supplier, I went to select the stone and ended up picking a Level 1 granite. His bid was actually a little higher than the vendor I was thinking of going with, but since I had seen the quality of his work team, I decided to pay more, just to have Meras Tile do the job. I decided to ask if he had an electrician and he uses one that also came to hang new lights in our media room and in our 20 foot ceiling Living Room. Everyone did a good job. There were just a couple of minor glitches. The granite guys damaged the wall when trying to put in the heavy granite piece. Arturo had someone come by to fix it. They did an okay job, but it was still noticeable. I had a painter come and fix it later. The canvas drops on the floor did not protect my floors from dust. It seeped through the weave of the canvas and left a layer of dust everywhere it was placed. I suggested Arturo have his guys lay plastic under the canvas next time when installing on hardwood floors. Otherwise, his crew did a great job cleaning up after themselves each day. Arturo's crew were friendly and helpful. I tipped all of his workers each day and would use them again in a heartbeat.

It went very well. Arturo was very professional & provided a lot of suggestions in helping us decide what we wanted to do & to stay within out budget. We are DIYers so to bathtub was basically all we needed help with. His employees were timely, always cleaned up at the end of the day & really didn't cause a disruption, as I work from home. I would definitely use Meras Tile again & would refer to others. Price was about average to what I got bids on. I was glad that I selected them.

Arturo's was one of 4 quotes I received. He wasn't the most expensive but he was higher than average. What sold me was his professionalism and his attention to detail. During the bidding he asked several questions and mentioned several things that indicated a pride in his work and attention to detail. Among these were cleaning up the baseboards to remove grout reside, caulking between the end of the tile and the baseboard or other different surface (bathtub, etc) to allow for the difference expansion/contraction rates, and the importance of checking both the lines of the tile and the level of the tile as you go. His crew cleaned up or at least ordered their work area every day and they were able to work around granite counter top installation, carpet installation, and movers bringing in our furnishings. Probably the best thing about the experience was the final walk through. That allowed my outstanding questions to get answered. He explained how I can clean up any future grout spots I might find, gave me tips and suggestions for care and maintenance of the tile. Perhaps the biggest "like" for me was the communication. When I saw something that didn't look right or I had a question I just had to call Arturo and he'd explain it or say "let me call my guys right now" and he'd take care of the problem. It was clean, professional, and timely. There was never any finger pointing or blame going back and forth; he approached the job like we were on the same team and we had a common goal. All in all I was incredibly pleased with the work and the relationship and would recommend them without hesitation to others that are looking for a quality job, done right.

He was very attentive to protecting my furnishings and there was no damage to my living area or newly refurbished kitchen cabinets. The job was completed on time and on budget. He was timely and professional in dealing with my concerns after the job and returned to replace some of the installed tile that I was not happy with. This was a difficult job due to the tile size, pattern it was laid, width of grout line, condition of the sub-floor (slightly unlevel)and poor quality of the tile (Eleganza) I selected. Fortunately, the tile pattern and the crews expertise help hide most of the inconsistencies in the finished product and over-all I am satisfied with my new floor. Mr. Mares was readily available to speak to me by phone when needed, promptly returned calls during the job and was onsite during the work at the appropriate times. His crew was respectful, courteous and attentive to detail. I would be happy to do business with his company in the future.
Description of Work: Mr. Mares delivered everything that was promised and discussed during the estimate visit. His crew removed approximately 825 sq. feet of tile in my living and kitchen area and installed 12x24 rectified porcelain tile with a 1/16th grout line in an offset pattern.

Overall the project went well. There were some communication issues before the job started which led me to take days off work that I didn't need to (said they were going to show and didn't...) This was a little frustrating but once the tile and crew arrived, the project went smooth without any problems. Arturo's crew that came out worked hard and the end result looks good.

Arturo, presented himself very professionally and sold me on his service. Overall I am satisfied with the finished work, but was disappointed with a couple things. First let me say he is very busy and appeared to have a lot of projects going on, probably to many because he was not around very much and hard to reach on the phone. He seemed to prefer texting to communicate. His workers were good and knew what they were doing, but from our initial meeting I expected him to be more involved. He did not come by the last day to inspect the finished work but asked for the final payment at that time, which I paid. But I had issues with some of the finish details, like caulking and grout and it took me several attempts to get him out to take a look and have it retouched up to my satisfaction.

I was thrilled with the work, the workmen, and Mr. Meras. I had this work done last summer. I called him back this May with some other ideas, inside and out. It took him over a week to get back to me. When he came to see what I had in mind, he saw some areas he wanted his guys to come to tweak. I was impressed. He told me he'd get a bid to me, but I haven't heard back from him. I'm not sure what's going on because it's been over a month since he came to see the work I wanted. I promise that I was a kind and easy person to work for.

Set appt. with Arturo for him to come out and give an estimate. He was on time, very professional and explained what they would do, how long it would take and quoted a price. We set a date for installation. Arturo came out the first morning with the crew, work began on time. When we got home from work, the garage door had been left up and the back door unlocked and all crew had left. All crew members denied leaving garage door up. It is certainly possible that somehow the door malfunctioned unrelated to the tile job, but the worry of it happening again resulted in one of us stayed home to be there during the rest of the job. The installation itself was great, and the crew was very tidy and finished the job on time. Arturo told us that if we had any problems to call back and they would come out and take care of them. We have several areas where the grout doesn't look "dry" and is darker than the rest of the grout. Called Arturo three times and left message of the problem and that we'd like to have him come back out and look at it. Never heard back or received a return phone call.

Arturo is exceptional at what he does. His attention to detail and the time he spends with his clients is what separates him from your average installer. I knew of his reputation and he was the only installer in Dallas I believe could handle the challenge of such difficult porcelain tile to work with. We met several times to review the job, he bought specific blades to cut this expensive tile properly, he was on time and his experience shows in the end. He went well above and beyond to make the bathroom look incredible and I would highly recommend him to anyone who wants the finest quality job with a contractor who is responsive to clients and genuinely cares about your final product. He is well worth the extra to not have any sleepless nights.

We had a leak in an upstairs shower that was dripping into the kitchen through the ceiling. Meras responded quickly to our call and we had a bid within a few days. They started the job as soon as we said "go" and worked three long days to finish it quickly. They didn't try to talk us into completely redoing the shower as other contractors had, but recommended that we replace the shower pan and a foot up of tile from the wall. They matched the existing tile perfectly. Their craftsmanship was excellent and they kept the work area clean at all times. They were polite and considerate and punctual. We would highly recommend them.

I received a really quick response to my initial contact attempt. We arranged to meet at my house to look at the scope of work I was in need of completing. I had already installed the shower pan, tile on shower walls, and stone back splash. I needed a professional to come in and finish the shower floor and curb along with the main bathroom floor and grout all areas. The Meras guys did a fine job with the installation and finishing of the tile and the grout. The only negative I can say is that to date I have still not received a formal quote, invoice, or any other paperwork from Meras. All I have is a text message with the agreed upon pricing.

Arturo was right down the street when I called him to get a quote. He stopped by a couple of hours later. One of his workers put down our tile the next day and came back and grouted the day after that. Arturo made some excellent suggestions regarding the way we wanted to lay out the tile. We had planned to place it the long way in the room. He showed us how it would look better to turn it 90 degrees due to the door spacing. We took his advice, and we are very happy with the result.

It was a fantastic experience from first to last. Arturo Meras was timely returning my call, and made an appointment to give me a bid soon. When delayed on the freeway he called to let me know. He told me that he owned the company and did not sub out any of the work, but had his own crews. He wrote up a bid that day, and presented it to me. It was very straight forward. His bid was much less than the 3 other companies as highly rated on Angie's List, whom I interviewed. Meras Tile set a date to begin in 2 weeks and began on time. Arturo spent a lot of time listening to my desires, and making suggestions of the best way to accomplish this. He also offered his opinions on how to improve on my design. I was thrilled that I took his suggestion to update the drain, it makes such an elegant difference which I hadn't expected. Arturo spent quite a while, several hours, with his crew, laying out the tiles to get all the grout lines where they would look best. It was time well spent. His crews was very polite, and paid attention to keeping everything clean as they worked in and out of the house. They laid out a path of cardboard, so they never tracked mud from their tasks of mixing mortar. The tile setter for the shower was an artist, and truly took great care to lay out the decorative boarder perfectly, making the fewest cuts, and installing them where they didn't show. I spent time carefully laying out my boarder in the "random" pattern I wanted, and then showed Mario. He made sure he understood, and then followed exactly. They were efficient and timely and did an excellent job! I decided to have them tile my other bathroom immediately, because it was such a pleasure to work with his team.
Description of Work: Meras Tile installed tile in a new master bath approximately 100 sq. feet. It included a walk-in shower with a built-in seat, shampoo niche, tiled window frame, the floor, and 3' wainscotting in the separate W/C. They installed 18" tile on the floor, different 18" tile on the walls, glass irregular accent tile on the walls, seat front and wainscotting, and trim tile. Most impressive, they cut the floor tile into 4" squares to lay on a diagonal in the shower floor, perfectly centering a modern square drain.

While the process took longer than originally anticipated, it was worth the time! Ours was a weeks long process, but the team did a generally great job of letting us know what was to be undertaken, in what ways we could continue to use the areas under construction, and what to expect in the coming days. I have already had Arturo's team back to do some additional work that I added, and I will no doubt include their services as other projects arise. I recommend Meras Tile wholeheartedly.
Description of Work: SPECTACULAR OUTCOME! Arturo, through his very capable craftsmen, did a great job on our large project. They removed 1,300 feet of existing tile, replaced it with new, did drywall and trim as necessary, and executed the process at the highest professional level. Similar results were achieved on: upstairs bathroom: (gutted the space, prepped the new space and created a beautiful bathroom); laundry room; and downstairs bath. We even decided to re-do the kitchen, and the Meras Tile team did a great job in prepping the space and doing the tile work.

I have a 1950's house and needed to retile the hall bathroom. I wanted to keep the bathroom looking like it still belonged in my 1950's house. I obtained several bids to tile my bathroom. Meras Tile was right in line with the other bids, and actually might have been the least expensive, but the price was not the reason I chose Meras TIle. Apparently not all "tile" people are artisans. The other people I interviewed seemed like I was asking for a lot or did not seem very confident. I knew the minute I met Arturo he was going to be the artisan for my project. He is very professional and instantly instilled my confidence. He never seemed overwhelmed by my requests or questions. He workers were professional and polite. I chose white tile with a combination of 3 different accent tiles at the top of the walls, just below the mudcap, also a color accent at the bottom of the wall, just above the sanitary tiles. The shower also had an accent band that went through the shower. Arturo helped me figure out the design for the backsplash and the shower. Anytime I had any questions or wanted an adjustment, he was ready to accommodate. I have a large family and will reccommend Arturo for all of their tile work. Do not look any further for a "tile guy".
Description of Work: Retiled the walls of bathroom to 4 feet (4x4), retiled the shower(4x4), counter backsplash, and installed a tile floor(12x12). Some of the prep and the tear-out was already done.

Everything that was promised to us was delivered. The workmanship is beautiful and we have had so many compliments on the finished product. Meras tile helped us achieve the look we visualized from the very beginning. Best of all, there were no 'hidden' costs. We could not be happier, and would recommend Meras Tile to anyone interested in having tile or granite installed!
Description of Work: We had existing tile removed from foyer, kitchen, laundry & pantry. We also had carpet removed from dining area, and Arturo tiled everything. He came out a second time before beginning the work to help us decide what kind of tile would work best, and showed us different diagrams of possible lay-outs. He is extremely courteous, and always went above and beyond what we expected. Arturo worked very diligently to help us design a custom mosiac in our kitchen, cutting pieces of granite that match our countertops to inlay in the floor mosiac.
